It's Part 2 with Amy Yasbeck and we continue intimate and thought-provoking conversation, delving even deeper into topics that touch on family, love, loss, and spiritual growth. We begin with Pol' reminiscing about his grandmother's battle with dementia, sharing poignant memories of her wisdom and the deep emotional connection they shared and their spiritual connections. Amy draws parallels to her own Lebanese heritage, where family and spirituality played significant roles and shares touching anecdotes about her father trying to teach her Lebanese. We discuss more serious territory exploring health concerns that have touched our families. Amy, reflecting on her own experience with the sudden loss of her husband, John Ritter, shares invaluable advice on how to approach doctors and advocate for oneself when it comes to genetic heart conditions and the importance of being proactive with family medical history. A heartfelt conversation about relationships and love ensues and Pol talks about his philosophy on giving his best to his partner every day, and Patrik reflects on how people often give up on relationships too early. Amy offers her wisdom on the delicate balance between love and self-preservation, cautioning against staying in toxic relationships for fear of being alone. She shares how her love for John was unique and magical, confessing that she doesn't believe she'll ever find a love like that again. Can you guess what Amy's least favorite song is? It turns spiritual as we discuss the concept of heaven and the afterlife. Amy expresses her belief that while many think of heaven as a far-off reward, she prefers to focus on creating heaven on earth through meaningful connections with others. She reveals that she feels John's presence guiding her through life and that she has learned to embrace those signs rather than ignore them. We reveal our bucket lists. What do you think they are, and do they match up with yours? Amy lightens the mood further by sharing a hilarious story about her experience flying with the Blue Angels during her time on Wings, and her fantasy of racing through the empty streets of Los Angeles. It gets fun with our “haute topics” and the new Matlock reboot is center stage What connections does Amy have to the reboot and the original?  Our critiques on celebrity fashion in ‘Runway Rundown' offers candid and hilarious takes on the latest red carpet looks and Amy's own recent outfit gets dissected. Game-Time is “Amy Yasbeck – WINGSed it” no pun intended with a fun true-or-false game, where she answers questions about her career, including whether she guest-starred on Friends, voiced an animated character, and wrote a line in Pretty Woman.  As we wind down, Amy talks about her memoir, ‘With Love and Laughter', and how it helped raise awareness for aortic dissection, the condition that took John Ritter's life. Pol' continues the Armenian Coffee Grounds reading and encourages her to fully embrace her potential and follow her passions, and concludes on a heartfelt note with Amy sharing her belief in the power of alleviating suffering and living a life filled with purpose, love, and laughter. This week we are with beloved actress, advocate and friend, Amy Yasbeck, known for her iconic roles in Wings, The Mask, Splash Too and the widow of legendary actor John Ritter. She takes us on an emotional journey through her life, career, and personal challenges and shares touching stories, laughs, and moments of deep introspection. We begin with the history of her necklace, which once belonged to John Ritter's mother and she reminisces about his parents and their Hollywood roots, weaving family history with personal anecdotes. We discuss travel, their time in Ohio, and the quirky realities of air travel back when smoking was allowed on planes. Amy reflects on her parents' early deaths from smoking, candidly revealing that she is now 62 years old and has overcome breast cancer herself, thanks to early detection. She emphasizes how crucial early detection has become in her advocacy work. Amy opens about John Ritter's tragic death in 2003 from an undiagnosed aortic dissection. She explains the medical complexities of the condition—how it can mimic a heart attack and why proper diagnostics, like a CT scan, are critical. With clarity and precision, Amy describes the mechanics of the aorta. The John Ritter Foundation, emerged from the heartbreak of John's passing, aiming to spread awareness about aortic dissection and discusses the life-saving efforts that her foundation has inspired, including her brother-in-law's diagnosis. She expresses the bittersweet reality of how awareness often comes too late reflecting on with empathy and insight. Amy's passion for standardizing medical care has led to the development of the “Ritter Rules,” a set of guidelines now implemented in hospitals to improve diagnostics for aortic dissection. She stresses the importance of genetic testing for those with family histories of the condition and shares stories of how the foundation's work has already saved lives. She shares lighthearted moments of learning French—only to remember commands like “shut your mouth and sit down”—and laughs about jewelry, coffee, and experiences on set as an actress. Touching on the importance of mental health, reflecting on the loss of her longtime therapist and how therapy has helped her navigate life's challenges. During Pol's coffee reading, Amy is visibly intrigued by his insights into her life. He predicts unexpected opportunities on the horizon—projects Amy has long dreamed of, like her pitch for a talk show, videos documenting California life, or a podcast centered around foundations and giving back. Amy feels a renewed sense of purpose, recognizing that she needs to balance her advocacy work with a return to her acting career. We end on a profound note as she reflects on her love for John Ritter, describing him as the love of her life and the source of her “heaven on earth” and we touch on the afterlife, skepticism, and the importance of living life authentically. Amy reveals that she's ready to move forward while honoring who she has become through life's trials. Pol's coffee reading concludes with hints of a promising future leaving her with a sense of hope, excitement, and inspiration for the next chapter of her life. Sisters Who Scene It

Send us a textKatie and Bridget go to the Coco Bongo Club as they re-watch a very nostalgic movie: The Mask! Come along to Edge City (DON'T WORRY THIS MOVIE IS RATED PG!) where we meet Stanley Ipkiss, a grown man with stable income, a loving dog, and nice housing who is considered a "loser" because he "can't get a date"... Yup, what a loser! When he finds a mask floating in the city's toxic river he puts it on only to then transform into a chaotic cartoon character of a horny man. You thought that was crazy? Don't worry, we've also got the mob in this PG movie! Led by gangster Dorian who's out to rob banks, murder people, and possibly blow up his girlfriend Tina as well as his club (?). When Stanley's shenanigans get him wrapped up in all things felonies, it's up to The Mask (and arguably his dog Milo - who deserves a Dog-Oscar/Doscar) to save the day! Will Stanley be able to avoid jail time and get to make out with Tina? Is he also Cuban Pete, the king of the Rumba Beat!? Where he plays the maracas and goes Chick-Chicky-Boom Chick-Chicky-Boom!?! Released in 1994, it stars Jim Carrey, Cameron Diaz, Peter Riegert, Peter Greene, Amy Yasbeck, and Richard Jeni.

Send us a Text Message.Katie and Bridget put on their bow-ties as they re-watch the surprisingly heart-felt, dark comedy: Problem Child! It's a story all about an evil child! ...Well actually he has a tragic backstory that most likely led to his behaviors... And also he's never had an adult support him or like him... And he got abandoned every 2 seconds in his life and everybody bullies him... Should this movie instead have been called "Problem Adults To This Child"!? Come along as we meet Junior, a rambunctious orphan who gets adopted by Ben and Flo - yes that is a real woman's name in this movie. Ben has always wanted to be a Dad and is Junior's number 1 supporter. Flo just wanted to get invited to kids birthday parties because apparently she has no friends....!?!?!?!? When Junior retaliates against scary clown rooms, jerky neighbors, and bullies (as well as inviting a serial killer to his house LOL REALLY), Ben must decide if Junior is worth keeping or bringing back to the orphanage... Spoiler alert: Ben's the only decent adult in this movie so he OBVIOUSLY doesn't take Junior back to the orphanage and instead he takes a bullet for Junior - LITERALLY. Released in 1990, it stared John Ritter (respect), Michael Oliver, Jack Warden, Gilbert Gottfried, Amy Yasbeck, and Michael Richards.

The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel

This week we are discussing a sequel that Jamie has dubbed "the grossest sequel ever", "Problem Child 2". This movie had us talking about how insane Junior is, the number of deaths that would have resulted from his and Trixie's antics, the odd choice of having Amy Yasbeck play a different character than she did in the original (but it worked), and so much. These are the sequels I love, the time period, the great cast of actors, and Gilbert Gottfried. Watch the unedited review at sequelsonly.com/ProblemChild2 The next sequel discussed "Leprechaun Returns", which is a direct sequel to the original and I was lucky enough to talk to the Leprechaun himself, Actor Linden Porco. Linden talked about starting to act at a young age, working with the Wayans Brothers on Little Man, landing the role of The Leprechaun, Nightmare Alley, and more. We're watching another Mel Brooks movie. This time it's the no-so-classic "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" from 1995. It's a fun little movie with a lot of the cast of "Robin Hood: Men In Tights" but with only like, half the laughs. But it's all ok because Leslie Nielsen is there and that's always a treat. We pair the movie with Vampire Pinot Noir. It's the rare occasion where we found a wine first and then divined the movie based on the wine label. The wine? Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. Today, I covered the movie Problem Child 2. Movie Synopsis: The worst child in the world makes an unthinkable discovery - there is another child even worse than him, and it's a girl. Junior's back in his first adventure since his last! Junior and Ben move to Mortville which seems like the perfect town to live in. We find out that it is in fact a metropolis for single divorced women who line up at Ben's front door as soon as he and Junior pull up to their new house and move in. Good grief! We also (sadly) get the return of Big Ben (Ben's father), a sweet single mother with her own Problem Child, a girl named Trixie who becomes Junior's nemesis and then later ally. Of course we have to have a villain, who comes in the form of Luwanda Dumore, a woman who has been married 6 times and basically owns the town of Mortville. Think of a woe bag version of Mrs. Deegle from Gremlins. I could not stand this woman, The way she just takes over Ben and Junior's lives. Redecorating their home, it was too damn much. I really enjoyed Annie's character and watching this as a 10 year old originally I had no idea that was Amy Yasbeck (who had played Flo in the first movie). Such a vast contrast from self absorbed Flo. I hope you all enjoy the movie review! Have a great weekend! To EMAIL The Podcast GO TO: lbomwonderyearspodcast@gmail.com

In this episode of In Search of the Crystal Skull, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 1994 The Mask based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name starring Jim Carrrey, Cameron Diaz, Peter Greene, Peter Riegart, Jim Doughan, Amy Yasbeck, Orestes Matacena, Ben Stein, and Richard Jeni. The story is about a man named Stanley Ipkiss who lives a mundane life working as a bank clerk in a city filled with crime called Edge City. When he found a mask by the bay, he learns that it was created by the Norse God Loki giving Stanley the trouble making, jokes spewing, and confident persona simply called The Mask. The Mask steals money from the bank that Stanley works on and flirts with the girlfriend of one of the members from the Mafia named Dorian Tyrell. Dorian finds out that The Mask is Stanley and tries to threaten him to give him the mask so that he could take over Edge City. Meanwhile, two police officers named Lt. Kellaway and Detective Doyle are searching for The Mask after robbing the bank and stealing all of the money. When the film premiered, it made $351 million dollars out of a $23 million dollar budget. It had received mixed reviews from critics with Roger Ebert stating that while Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz's performances were great and its goofy presentation worked, everything else missed the mark. Comic book fans disliked the movie due to changing the tone of being dark from the comics to a silly cartoon. It currently has a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Since then, it has been beloved by people who grew up with the film mostly due to Jim Carrey's performance. The Mask had spun into an animated series, a sequel called Son of the Mask, and was the most prolific comic book movie of all time until 25 years later when Joker premiered. What do Patricia and Arun think of the film? This week we rewatch our recent poll winner, Problem Child. The 1990 "classic" about a child monster that gets adopted by a clueless couple. If you love when we talk about anything but the movie; this episode is for you. It sparks a lot of tangents. We discuss everything from our earliest music memories to why catholics (from our parents generation) only name their kids five different names. Ryan talks about his rat tail envy and Ashley tells a story about the creepy clown from her childhood closet. As always we give out our prestigious awards and decide if this "family" film (we question this) holds up to our adult standards.

Pulling off a good parody can be quite difficult. Mel Brooks has done it a few times, but he’s also made some lesser parody films that don’t quite hold up. So where did his sendup of the Robin Hood myths end up? Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we continue our Robin Hood series with Brooks’ 1993 film Robin Hood: Men in Tights. We talk about parody films and look at why a parody film of the Robin Hood films, particularly Prince of Thieves from two years earlier, seemed like a good idea at the time. We also debate how well it worked – just because there are laughs, does that mean it’s a success? We chat about several cast members like Richard Lewis, Dave Chappelle, Amy Yasbeck, Roger Rees, and Tracey Ullman, and what they bring to the table, but most of our praise lies with Cary Elwes and the brilliant job he does at playing a spot-on perfect Robin Hood while also jumping in wholeheartedly to the Brooks comedy pool. We ponder how timeless a film like this can be. And we praise Brooks for some catchy tunes. It’s a fun film that is perhaps rightfully called a ‘lesser Brooks film,’ but entertaining enough.
