Early morning (3-6am) bird chatter ambience — So I live in a metropolitan area within a town next to a highway… Actually let me start a different way; what we perceive individually as silence, is nowhere near reality. I've learned this having stupidly rushed to interesting natural sound-makers like brooks and falls, only to realize later these sound-maker's proximity to vehicular traffic, tarnished my recordings. When I recorded in the Mad River Valley (Vt) last year I found a few stunning waterfalls cascading delightfully. The bustling fall leaves and their aromas filling the air, the gushing of clean water moving naturally. I would embarrass myself on a naked and alone program, but I can still appreciate spaces like this. I recorded it all with my microphone. And when I listened later I was downcast, I never perceived the cars rushing by twenty feet away. RVs and motorcycles, and small trucks — they were loud as ******* hell. ****** us as a species--All of this to say that I would love to hand you something that might have been recorded on the Sound of Music mountain with my Mid-Atlantic bird buddies, and only that. Alas, there will be some far off vehicular stuff joining our feathery friends (it's not too bad I just wish this was more Jack London than Jack ****** Handey). Speaking of Jack London, I'm not entirely sure what birds we are hearing. In recent days I have seen a red bird and then shouted “OMG, we have a Cardinal!” and days later saw a blue bird and “OMG, we have Blue Jays!” I saw a Robin too but didn't shout “hey, everyone, the ubiquitous bird!”Sound off in the comments if you are an ornithologist (Throw your hands in the sky!)! What are these birds? Have you ever set up a 50-foot-net? Do you make bank? Original Photo used in episode cover by Physical Pixel

Hear about three very different books recommended by Michael Gregg, library associate for the Troy Public Library. “Satan Is Real: The Ballad of the Louvin Brothers” (Charlie Louvin with Benjamin Whitmer, 2012) tells the story of “one of the most legendary country duos of all time.” A young adult book “The Skull: A Tyrolean Folktale” (Jon Klassen, 2023) develops the story of a young girl drawn to a lonely house where the host is a talking disembodied skull, and how the girl must save them both. Finally, Michael calls “The Stench of Honolulu” (2013), by former SNL writer Jack Handey, a “laugh-out-loud funny” fictional story of two friends on a quest for a Golden Monkey in the mysterious land of Honolulu. He also mentions "Every Man for Himself and God Against All: A Memoir" (Werner Herzog, 2023). On a more serious note, Michael explains why the Lansingburgh branch of the library is temporarily closed due to recent flooding. For more details, visit www.thetroylibrary.org. Produced by Brea Barthel for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
Yes, Jack Handey is his real name. He's one of the best to ever write for Saturday Night Live: Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Giant Businessman, Toonces the Driving Cat, Deep Thoughts. In his post SNL career, Handey's written more for the page. There's his countless columns in the New Yorker and now, his latest novel: Escape from Hawaii: A Tropical Sequel. He talks about all that, plus we ask him (very nicely) about why he initially declined to come back on the show.
The Brian D. O'Leary Show October 12, 2023 Try as I may, I still can't shake not being a sports narrowcaster. The topic still comes up. At some point, I have to accept that it is part of who I am. An interesting thing came up today when I was listening to a podcast that my friend and Natural Order Podcast co-host Adam Haman was on. They mentioned a “Deep Thought” from Jack Handey. That got my wheels spinning, and thus this podcast. This week the boys channel some good ol' Jack Handey and go deep!
This week we return to an early classic episode, an exploration of the impact of passionate and well-crafted speech. Effective rhetoric can rouse supporters and sway opponents, and aptly chosen words have the ability to pierce and persuade like little else. Featuring some of the greatest masters of the craft -- Churchill, Shakespeare, Sorkin, and of course, Jack Handey -- we will show how great writers have an exceptional ability to inspire, enrage, and enliven their audiences. We will hear Kenneth Branagh's rendition of the St. Crispin's Day speech from Henry V, Winston Churchill delivering his own rousing speech discussing the drumbeat of war building in Germany in 1934, one of Jack Nicholson's most memorable film speeches of all time from "A Few Good Men," and Jack Handey's discovery of Attila the Hun's least known speech.

Bang this one in the comic book shops cuz it's provocative! It really gets the people going! Everybody knows that Marvel and DC copy each other's characters so in “The Greatest Comic Book Doppelgangers” Ed, Ron, and Producer Bill try to determine which of these extremely similar characters is the best. Who is Marvel's Martian Manhunter? Who is DC's Daredevil? The answers may surprise you. Who is the best between Aquaman and Namor or Hawkeye vs. Green Arrow? What characters are more or less equal and why? Another all-timer from the crew with plenty of laughs and Jack Handey level deep thoughts on whether imitation is actually the sincerest form of flattery. Follow us! When this episode was first released, we were only 2 months into the Covid pandemic, and many people were homesteading and finding new comforts in simple joys like crafting and baking. Host Joe Weber took this moment as an opportunity to impart some of his well-earned knowledge as a lifelong baker and bakery supplier by giving some highly useful baking tips, which still remain as relevant and useful as they were then. As an accompaniment to the bread course, the menu is packed -- two stand-up bits by Jackie Mason, a couple of Cole Porter tunes, a reading from Richard Yates and a visit from Jack Handey. And of course, a healthy serving of cowbell!

Among his many talents, Irish writer Frank O'Connor had a particular gift for showing the world through the eyes of young, precocious, often naive protagonists, like Larry Delaney of his 1957 story "The Genius." Larry wants to be the town's first proper genius and win the affections of Una Dwyer -- first, he just has to find out where babies come from. We revisit this timeless story, originally featured in an early episode of the podcast, along with musings from Jack Handey, poetry by Richard Wilbur, and lots of great music.

In the words of noted 90s philosopher, Jack Handey, “If you ever discover that what you're seeing is a play within a play, just slow down, take a deep breath, and hold on for the ride of your life.” Bertolucci's 1970 classic THE CONFORMIST is similarly layered; a flashback within a fantasy within a frame story. Beyond the complex structure, this film is also rife with striking imagery, symbolism and camera movement. Dave and Ashley discuss how The Conformist has influenced generations of filmmakers from Coppola to Gerwig, plus how Freud ruins everything. Subscribe in Apple Podcasts, Android, or Spotify. While some stories remain in your heart, others simply make you laugh out loud. Jen Spyra's storytelling oscillates between the two. You may recognize Jen's work from her roles at revered comedic havens like The Onion and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert or from her bylines in publications like The New Yorker and McSweeney's. Most recently, Jen has channeled her editorial expertise into her debut book. Enter Big Time, Jen's comedic story collection that has received praise from industry giants like Tina Fey, Jack Handey, and Mindy Kaling. In Big Time, Jen lends her sharp—sometimes irreverent—comedic voice to fourteen jaw-dropping short stories. While these works may be fictitious in nature, Jen doesn't shy away from using humor to examine the facts of contemporary culture—and in turn, her own life. For Jen, comedy often stems from a place of empathy and paying attention. In this interview, Jen shared more about these ideas along with the role of pace in her writing process, how she's defined her distinct comedic sensibility, and what instincts she had to unlearn to write Big Time. Intro It is good to have you with us, Peter Malinoski, clinical psychologist Weekly Podcast Interior Integration for Catholics Part of our Online outreach Souls and Hearts and soulsandhearts.com Episode 65 Why Catholic Spouses Find it Hard to Empathize with Each Other, Especially About Sex -- with Solutions. -- we are in the middle of a series on Sexuality in Catholic Marriages, but don't worry if you are not married, there is so much for you in today's episode that applies to any close relationship. Definitions of Empathy: Daniel Siegel: Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine. Interpersonal Neurobiology. Interpersonal Neurobiology Wikipedia: Interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) or relational neurobiology is an interdisciplinary framework associated with human development and functioning. It was developed in the 1990s by Daniel J. Siegel who sought to bring together a wide range of scientific disciplines in demonstrating how the mind, brain, and relationships integrate to alter one another. Dan Siegel's work is very accessible -- easier for non-professionals to understand, very available. Five types of Empathy -- Short YouTube Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdhMY_DNb1M 5 Levels. There's an order to them. Emotional Resonance or attunement Perspective Taking Cognitive Empathy Compassion -- Seigel calls it Empathetic Concern Empathetic Joy I am going to expand on his basic presentation. Expanded definitions of empathy Emotional Resonance, attunement, empathic resonance -- receiver begins to feel what the sender is feeling. You feel the feelings of the other person. Attunement ‘is a kinesthetic and emotional sensing of others knowing their rhythm, affect and experience by metaphorically being in their skin, and going beyond empathy to create a two-person experience of unbroken feeling connectedness by providing a reciprocal affect and/or resonating response'. (Clinical psychologist Richard Erksine 1998). When we attune with others we allow our own internal state to shift, to come to resonate with the inner world of another. This resonance is at the heart of the important sense of “feeling felt” that emerges in close relationships. Children need attunement to feel secure and to develop well, and throughout our lives we need attunement to feel close and connected." Dan Siegel Moderation Emotional contagion. This really can be overwhelming Experience of being sucked into the other's experience -- blending or fusing with the other with a loss of boundaries Perspective Taking: Let me put myself in the other's skin -- in the other shoes. Not a fusion Capacity to enter into your spouse's internal world with your own mind to consider the other's experience You remain separate from the other person. Cognitive Empathy: -- a bit further -- what does the experience mean for the person. Memory, emotion, history influences the other. Empathetic understanding. So much of our suffering comes not from the facts of our situation, but from the meaning we make from those facts. Compassion: Empathic Concern -- synonym for compassion. I feel your pain, I want to reduce your suffering. You feel the suffering Take the suffering in Use of the imagination -- what could I do now to help you feel better. Be with the person -- doing flows from that being Empathic joy -- I get so excited about your success -- delighting in and with the other. Joy in who the spouse is, not what the child does -- "delighting in the spouses very being Wife believes in the husband's goodness -- the husband is precious, worth sacrificing for and vice versa. Song of Songs -- Joy 1:4 We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine Review Emotional Resonance or attunement Perspective Taking Cognitive Empathy Compassion -- Seigel calls it Empathetic Concern Empathetic Joy Empathy is the mattress on our Catholic Canopied Marriage bed, which I introduced in episode 58 -- working with that metaphor. The mattress on a bed -- we want the mattress to be consistent and solid, firm and not lumpy. The frame and box spring -- firm commitment between the husband and the wife, the upholding of the marriage vows Episode 64 It's the charity. Willing the highest good for one another -- sacrificial love four legs of the bed. Leg 1 -- the husband's commitment to his own interior integration, his own human formation, his psychological health, his emotional wellbeing -- removing the beam from his own eye -- last episode. Episode 63 Leg 2. the wife's commitment to her own interior integration, her own human formation, her own psychological health, her own emotional wellbeing -- her taking on her own personal responsibility for her natural life last episode. Episode 63 Leg 3. Attachment Needs and Integrity Needs -- Episode 62, Leg 4. Internal Family Systems approaches -- understanding deeply how the human person is both a unity and a multiplicity -- like an orchestra is a unity -- one orchestra, but also has within it multiplicity, multiple musicians -- check out Episodes 60 and 61 The rock-solid floor in the bedroom is the Foundation -- The presence of God -- and an active belief in God's Providence This is the foundation Childlike trust, absolute confidence Reflects the reality of our existential dependence and God's paternal care, Mary's maternal care for us. So many Catholic try to solve their marriage issues without bringing in anything spiritual Or they avoid any meeting between faith and sex. Why we lack different kinds of empathy In General Lack of interior integration Lack of benevolence -- good will. Lack of seeking the good for our spouse and being willing to suffer for it Conditionality I'll work on it if my wife does X and Y I'll start trying again if my husband stops behavior Z. Not what your vows say. Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes. Jack Handey. Lack of consistency Giving up -- Spouse is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma -- Winston Churchill We are not good at it. This is really complex and demanding at times -- it's hard. We don't like to be faced with our limitations We want to feel competent, we like to know we did a good job FreeCell online solitaire. Very good at it. Clear when I did a good job. Levels in a video game Pam likes Soduku puzzles -- clear when she solves it. Often deepening connections with others it's not so clear if we're doing well or not So we don't practice. It takes deliberate practice It takes time that is set aside Won't happen just by chance. I have parts that don't want to give up illusions about my spouse -- idealizations, I have her on a pedestal, she was supposed to complete me, care for me, met my needs, rescue me, redeem me, prove that I am lovable, whatever the underlying needs and hopes and dreams were -- all that can come crashing down. Not a Hallmark Movie here. Real, gritty, difficult, human, messy relationships Reasons we lack Emotional Resonance or attunement -- receiver begins to feel what the sender is feeling. You feel the feelings of your spouse. -- We want to be able to do this in a regulated way. A sip, not necessarily the whole barrel. Two Categories I can't -- And can't Functional or organic limitations Brain injury Also possibly some conditions on the autistic spectrum can interfere with recognizing others' needs. Biological. Not psychological -- like having a narcissistic part in command. Dynamism of ability I can't in this moment -- I am dysregulated, I am in fight or flight mode, I'm in freeze mode. I'm too angry, I'm blended with a part. We need to recognize that dynamism. I won't Also Dynamic. I won't right now. I will later. Beam in our own eye, reflected as the speck in our spouse's eye. Misattribution What is mine and what is my spouse's issue Pointing: 1 finger forward, three fingers back at me St. Francis of Assisi -- I am the problem. Externalization Degree of externalization is diagnostic -- all the spouse -- likely a lot is also me. Distractions Busyness Activation of my own experience in parts -- My manager parts won't accept or embrace in my spouse what I reject in my own self -- because I'm afraid of those unacceptable things in me. Emotions Desires Attitudes Intentions Impulses Self-absorption Fear Fear of what is there Disappointment in me Part of my spouse may have had high hopes that I will meet needs -- daddy needs, mommy needs, God needs, security needs, mission and purpose and meaning needs, all kinds of attachment needs, all kinds of integrity needs-- we discussed those needs in episode 62 - understanding those needs is one of the legs of the bed. Unrealistic, impossible Can still activate parts of me that want to please, make everything all right Failure, failure --> shame or helplessness or disappointment -- my spouse is not going to meet my needs. Despair Part of my self may be despairing What do I do? I don't want to be married to someone who is despairing Not aware that it's only a part -- this is really critical. It often doesn't seem like a part, spouse doesn't seem conflicted. That's because the parts has blended and is not allowing any other parts or the core self to come through. Rage and hatred toward me Many, many Catholic spouses have parts that hate the other spouse. Disappointed, disillusioned These parts are often buried by protector parts Act out in passive-aggressive ways Or explode intermittently Divorcing spouses often really do hate each other Enmeshment, co-dependency can really increase the hatred parts of spouses have for each other. We don't want to be hated. Don't touch the ticking bomb. We want to protect the children. fear of overwhelm. Fear of the intensity of the spouse's part's experience. Richard Schwartz and Martha Sweezy call this emotional contagion I do not want to be sucked in, that's dangerous. I don't want to be overwhelmed by whatever my spouse's intensity activates in me Fear of my overreaction, being taken over by one of my parts. And if I get all blended with an activated part, will I do or say something I regret. Self-protective but also protective of the marriage. So there can be an unspoken, unthought agreement "not to go there." Can be wise in the short run Will we ever go there? Perspective Taking Capacity to enter into your spouse's internal world with your own mind to consider the other's experience We have our own needs. Parts want are needs to be taken care of first, before recognizing anyone else's Starving waiter syndrome This is the leg of the bed attachment and integrity needs -- if that is missing or short or otherwise compromised, leads to instability. Also the leg on human formation Defenses -- coping strategies Your spouse may not understand this. Needs another person to help. Transferences -- Revivification of old issues -- childhood or earlier in the marriage. Cognitive Empathy what does the experience mean for the person. Memory, emotion, history influences the other. Empathetic understanding. Our capacity is not well developed . We don't try. We don't know because we don't ask, we don't engage. Compassion -- Seigel calls it Empathetic Concern I feel your pain, I want to reduce your suffering Meaning of suffering -- natural pull in our fallen condition to avoid suffering, our own suffering and the suffering of others Can suffering become redemptive -- can you willingly share your spouse's cross if he or she lets you. I can't bear suffering or I won't bear suffering. Fr. Justin Huang Our capacity to suffer = our capacity to love = our capacity for joy. Empathetic Joy I can't be joyful in anyone else if I feel so disadvantaged. Eeyore's attempts to be joyful for others -- they fall flat. Unempathetic Sex Emotional Resonance or attunement -- not caring, not resonating. No idea what I am experiencing. Not talking about it Perspective Taking -- putting myself in her shoes. Concupiscence -- sex can be very selfish. I want an experience for me. I want my needs met. Gets away from our vow to love and cherish and honor and care for our spouse. Cognitive Empathy Compassion -- Seigel calls it Empathetic Concern -- willing to make sacrifices in some way? Won't happen if I am blended with a part that needs something from the sex my way. Tolerating a lot of imperfections. Sex is really approximate. Precise sex. Our sexuality is really exact. It's measured, it's so well regulated, well executed. Empathetic Joy -- our needs are met -- joy in the giving. Mutual giving. Solutions Five types of empathy for our own parts first -- Flight attendants: In the unlikely event of cabin depressurization, oxygen mask will drop from overhead. Secure your own first before attempting to assist others. Can I accept all of what is within me Am I doing my own work in human formation? Checking in with parts What percentage of my reaction to my spouse is my spouse's behavior What percentage of it is my old stuff. My parts' attitudes about sex. Where did they come from? What sexual experiences have I not adequately dealt with? Action item 1. Time with your parts, time for human formation every day. Removing the beam from your own eye. Reliance on God to meet our needs. Our spouses will always fail us in important ways. God allows that so that we rely on Him. Amazing what prayer can do if we really focus in on what our real issues are in human and spiritual formation, if we can get specific. We will get answers. Where are the real gaps in my empathy for my spouse -- which of the five areas of empathy do I struggle with and why? Making time each day. 5 minutes to think and consider and make notes about your spouse and about your spouse's parts, the common modes of operating. Just five minute to live out your marriage vows Or three minutes Or a minute? Be regular. Netflix video games, TV, shopping, social media. Write down your findings. Consider how your spouse is a beloved child of God and of Mary. Cherished by them. Made in God's image and likeness. Make a spouse resolution -- what you are going to do for your spouse. Ask not what your spouse can do for you, but what you can do for your spouse. Even if you're not in contact with your spouse. If you are sacramentally married pray for that spouse, offer up a little sacrifice. Talk with your spouse. Look at her. Look at him. If that's hard, be curious -- why is it hard Don't start with sex if that is a fraught issue. Start with something easier Regular time. Daily. If you are having a really hard time, bring in another person to help. Individual therapy Marital therapy -- Catholic's Guide to Choosing a Therapist Eventually talk with your spouse about sex. For many that will be awkward, difficult. But it can be done. Rarely does one spouse figure out all the answers to sexual issues in the marriage without any communication from the other spouse. Human formation issue -- Get on the waiting list Resilient Catholics Community, soulsandhearts.com/rcc join with so many others from around the world like you that also love this podcast. It is not rare for us fallible humans to make a mistake every now and again, but does doing something stupid make you an idiot? Or are you merely someone who suffers from idiocy? Humorist Ian Frazier struggles with this distinction in his raucous New Yorker essay "What I Am," one of two Frazier pieces we feature on this week's episode. Jeff Foxworthy makes an appearance with some of his hilariously acerbic insights into being a Southerner, and show favorite Jack Handey generously presents some ideas for paintings to struggling artists in need of inspiration.

A passionate and well-crafted speech is often the most impactful way to rouse supporters and sway opponents, and words can sometimes be the most piercing weapon we have. This week, we focus on rhetoric: the power of effective or persuasive speech or writing, as exhibited by some real masters of the craft -- Churchill, Shakespeare, Sorkin, and of course, Jack Handey. Through brilliantly chosen words and striking delivery, these writers have an exceptional ability to inspire, enrage, and enliven their audiences. First up, Kenneth Branagh acts as the conduit for Shakespeare's peerless words in the St. Crispin's Day speech from Henry V. Winston Churchill delivers his own rousing speech discussing the drumbeat of war building in Germany in 1934. Jack Nicholson commands his way through one of the most memorable film speeches of all time in the climax of "A Few Good Men." And Jack Handey presents a comical spin on great oration, with his discovery of Attila the Hun's least known speech.
This episode marks the 6th edition since the Coronavirus quarantine began, and we hope that it finds you healthy, safe, and finding some joy in a slower, more sedentary pace of life. Many people have been finding outlets for the newfound time at home in cooking, crafting, home projects, new skills, and also baking, a favorite pastime of our host Joe Weber. Joe comes from a long line of bakery suppliers and has been baking bread himself for 50 years, so he thought that this would be a good chance to share some essential tips and techniques learned from his many years of trial and error. But the bread is just the first course of an episode chock full of delectable treats -- two classic comedy bits by Jackie Mason, a reading from Richard Yates, some humor by Jack Handey, and a couple of Cole Porter tunes are just some of the menu items on offer. We even feature an appearance from Christopher Walken and his favorite instrumentalist. We hope you enjoy!
"So far, our town hadn't had a proper genius, and I intended to supply the deficiency." So says Larry, the precocious young narrator of Frank O'Connor's 1957 short story "The Genius." It is one of several of O'Connor's stories told from the perspective of a child, and follows our genius Larry navigating the lesser minds around him, questioning where babies come from, and trying not to look dumb in front of his new crush Una. This episode features Joe reading this classic story, along with some musings from another of our favorite deep thinkers, humorist Jack Handey. We also feature Richard Wilbur reading his poem, "The Last One," and as always, some wonderful music. We hope you enjoy it!

Comedian Anthony Jeselnik revels in making audiences a little uncomfortable and now he's making his fellow comedians uncomfortable as host of the hilarious new interview show Good Talk with Anthony Jeselnik. He shares how the Saturday Night Live bit "Deep Thoughts with Jack Handey" inspired his uniquely off-beat style of comedy, the time he auditioned to be the anchor of SNL’s Weekend Update, and some pretty smart advice he once got from Lorne Michaels on how to write a late night monologue. Anthony recalls the Comedy Central Roast that changed his life and what makes for the perfect roast speech. We delve into how Good Talk deconstructs the late night talk show, why this famously confident comedian never does self-deprecating humor, the power of silence in standup, and the one thing that Anthony says is the most important element of good comedy. Plus talks about how to out-deadpan Tig Notaro, what it was like to roast a future President, and the comedic genius of HBO’s Deadwood. Good Talk with Anthony Jeselnik premieres this Friday, September 6 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. Keep up with Anthony Jeselnik at www.anthonyjeselnik.com or on twitter at @Anthony Jeselnik. This episode is sponsored by MyBookie, and White Castle.

Egghead: Or, You Can't Survive On Ideas Alone (Grand Central Publishing) Bo Burnham, one of America's most popular young comedians (chosen by Vulture as one of the “50 Comedians You Should and Will Know”) has accomplished quite a lot -- considering he's only 23-years-old. With three Comedy Central Records albums and an MTV series under his belt, Bo is no doubt a rising star -- and tonight he brings his award-winning brand of brainy word play to Skylight Books with EGGHEAD: Or, You Can't Survive on Ideas Alone. Teaming up with his longtime friend, artist, and illustrator Chance Bone (yes, that is his real name), Bo takes on everything from painful breakups to bald barbers to farts in EGGHEAD. Showcasing Bo's utterly original voice, this collection of off-kilter writings, poems, and thoughts makes you think, laugh, and then think, “why did I just laugh?” And like his stand-up and music, EGGHEAD displays surprisingly mature insights. Praise for Egghead: Or, You Can't Survive On Ideas Alone: "You have to be brave to be this hilarious, and this sweetly romantic. And of course, a lot of talent helps. Egghead is a remarkable piece of writing!"--Jack Handey, author of The Stench of Honolulu and the Deep Thoughts series. "Like Walt Whitman, Bo Burnham has made the transition from an internet comedy sensation to a soulful poet. No, not that Walt Whitman. A different guy."--Conan O'Brien "I would love Bo Burnham's hilarious book even if he weren't my son."--Judd Apatow Bo Burnham was a precocious teenager living in his parents' attic when he started posting material on YouTube. One hundred million people viewed those videos, turning Bo into an online sensation with a huge and dedicated following. Bo taped his first of two Comedy Central specials four days after his 18th birthday, making him the youngest to do so in the channel's history (and his new album entitled what. will be released later this year). His MTV series "Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous," a mockumentary which Bo created, wrote, directed, and starred in, premiered in May 2013 to rave reviews. THIS EVENT WAS RECORDED LIVE AT SKYLIGHT BOOKS OCTOBER 5, 2014.

Jack Handey is the creator of "Deep Thoughts," and now the author of "What I'd Say To The Martians (and Other Veiled Threats)."
