We are kicking off April with what is top of mind for everyone – how AI (artificial intelligence) is affecting and changing aging and caregiving. We have two experts in this area: Lawrence Kosick, Co-Founder of Get Set Up and Dor Skuler, Founder and CEO of Intuition Robotics, makers of ElliQ. They talk about how they are using AI to help both older adults and caregivers make managing health easier and more personalized. In our Caregiver Wellness News, we focus on April as National Stress Awareness Month and Sherri shares the latest on the Tik Tok trend, “cortisol face” and what caregivers should know. Sherri also talks about a new way to measure cortisol and stress in the workplace using saliva being tested with Cleveland Clinic employees. And new insights from a recent report from United Church Homes and MIT AgeLab on how caregivers feel about AI and managing care for their older loved one. For our Well Home Design News, we put the spotlight on April's National Parkinson's Awareness Month and the research that is identifying “parkinson's clusters” – geographic areas with extremely high prevalence for Parkinsons's disease – Sherri talks about what you should know about environmental factors and other risks as well as the signs of Parkinson's – some of which may surprise you. Also, Sherri shares a new report from the National Alliance for Caregiving and the Michel J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research – the first-ever study of caregivers of those with Parkinson's disease. One solution for these Parkinson's caregivers and all caregivers is a training platform from Trualta that helps caregivers up-skilll and learn techniques that help them on their caregiving journey. They share results of more than 3 million minutes caregivers have spent on their platform and what they are saying. Hello Community! April is National Stress Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and addressing the impact of stress on our daily lives. This focus on awareness aligns with a recent experience I had just a few weeks ago. I have been facilitating conversations about leadership for decades. But nothing could have prepared me for what happened while I was co-facilitating a webinar. We are living in a time of emboldened hostility—a boldness I have never before experienced so directly. So how do we, as leaders, navigate a world where inclusion itself has become a flashpoint? How do we remain committed to progress when the very language of DEI is being stripped away in corporate and public discourse? That's the topic of this month's conversations and I hope you'll join me with a sense of curiosity. April is Stress Awareness Month, and in the construction industry, mental health is a conversation many still struggle to have. In fact, 70% of builders say they've suspected a colleague was seriously depressed but found it too difficult to talk about. The stigma runs so deep that 71% admit to giving their employer a different reason—like a physical illness—when taking time off for mental health. Even more concerning, 4 in 10 builders say they'd rather quit their job than speak up. We were joined by Ross Comer from St Johns ambulance and Band of Builders CEO Gavin Crane to hear the best ways to look after yourself and where you can get help should you need it. Plus theres also the Pub Lunch Quiz for your chance to grab your very own 6 points and you'll hear the very best messages that we received - Enjoy.

Sign up for Calm Success Live: https://calmsuccesslive.com/Discover the hidden causes of your anger and learn how to eliminate them with Dr. Mort Orman's four-step process. This episode will transform how you handle stress and emotions.Hey friends! I recently had such an enlightening chat with anger management expert Dr. Mort Orman about the root causes of anger and how to break free. Dr. Mort shares some fascinating insights that really opened my eyes. The key takeaway - anger is often caused by our brains tricking us, filtering reality through distortions. Once we understand this, we gain power over anger. He outlines the invisible inner workings that lead to anger arising, including the three key filters our brains use. I was blown away learning how anger originates from falsehoods and misperceptions. Dr. Mort also stresses that we can eliminate anger for good through self-examination, truth seeking, and retraining our brains. I'm so inspired and empowered after our discussion! I'd love to hear your biggest aha moments and takeaways too. And please check out Dr. Mort's book for a practical blueprint on mastering anger. Even though April is designated as National Stress Awareness Month, stress is something that effects us year-round. But could this affliction actually be more of a part of living than we realize? American Institute of Stress president Dr. Daniel Kirsch joins the show to talk about what we can do when it comes around...and whether some stress may even result in positive outcomes.
In today's episode, Dr. Mort Orman shares his experience developing a framework for not managing stress but banishing it from your life. He shares his personal development over the years and how misunderstandings around stress and managing stress contribute to the problem.Dr. Mort shares insight into the truth about stress. He discusses the system he used to treat his own stress and how he now uses that with his clients. We discuss how fears or stressors such as public speaking, relationship issues, or workplace interactions do not need to control our lives. Through Dr. Mort's framework, anyone can identify the causes of anger, stress, or other negative emotions and dissipate that emotion through evaluating our reactions and looking at the reality rather than our assumptions and internal stories. This is an eye-opening discussion about the "management of stress" and why that is a problem. By simply managing stress, we are not addressing the automatic thoughts and behaviors driving stress responses and behaviors. If you are dealing with stress (and who isn't today!), this is an important message you need to hear. About the Guest:Dr. Mort Orman, M.D. is an internal medicine physician with 40 years of success as an anger elimination and stress elimination expert. As a DJ, you may experience stress and fatigue after a night of DJing, especially during "National Stress Awareness Month". Here are some ways to decompress and take care of yourself:Rest and Sleep: Make sure to prioritize rest and sleep after a night of DJing. Your body and mind need time to recover and rejuvenate. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to help your body and mind reset.Hydrate: DJing can be physically demanding, and it's important to replenish fluids lost during your performance. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte-rich beverages to stay hydrated and replenish essential minerals.Stretch and Exercise: Physical activity can help reduce stress and tension in your muscles. Consider doing some light stretching or engaging in gentle exercises such as yoga or tai chi to help release tension from your body.Practice Mindfulness: Take time to practice mindfulness, which involves being present in the moment without judgment. You can try deep breathing, meditation, or other mindfulness techniques to help calm your mind and reduce stress.Connect with Others: DJing can sometimes be isolating, so make an effort to connect with friends, family, or other DJs to share your experiences and thoughts. Talking to others can help you process any stress or emotions you may be feeling.Engage in Hobbies: Engage in activities or hobbies that you enjoy outside of DJing. It could be anything from reading, painting, cooking, or playing a musical instrument. Doing things you love can help take your mind off stress and bring joy into your life.Take Breaks: It's important to take breaks from DJing and give yourself time to relax and rejuvenate. Avoid overloading yourself with gigs or events back-to-back without enough rest in between. Schedule regular breaks to prevent burnout.Practice Self-Care: Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Eat nutritious meals, take regular showers, and practice good hygiene. Engage in activities that make you happy and prioritize your overall well-being.Remember, it's important to take care of yourself and manage stress to avoid burnout as a DJ. By incorporating these decompression techniques into your routine, you can better manage stress and enjoy a healthy, fulfilling DJing career. I approach health from a functional wellness perspective in which clients are invited to explore their experiences with effort and intention in order to live a skillful, wholehearted life. In 2019 I founded 5Peaks, LLC - a wellness and lifestyle corporation whose mission is to promote human flourishing by teaching and supporting individuals, communities and organizations in science-backed strategies to help strengthen and cultivate resilience and well-being. On my favorite days, I can be found relaxing with my family, traveling near and far, practicing yoga, hiking, and chasing sunsets...oh I'm also a mom to 3 (usually) delightful boys and married to a pretty rad husband. A very necessary element of any healing journey is boundaries and today, Shanta and Tiffany discuss them- the different kinds, what they look like and how to start setting some in your own life. Boundaries, as defined by Berkeley are the limits and rules we set for ourselves within relationships. Boundaries help each person figure out where one person ends and the other begins and help to define what you are comfortable with and how you would like to be treated by others. Shanta and Tiffany talk about some of their own personal boundaries as well as how those boundaries are helping to regulate their personal stress, just in time for National Stress Awareness Month. In this episode, I share 5 suggestions for ways you can reduce stress for yourself, as well as 5 suggestions for how nonprofit leaders can reduce stress amongst their team members. Or maybe it’s during the day when you feel anxious, overwhelmed and unable to meet the demands of your life. These are signs and symptoms of stress. And according to the American Psychological Association, the average level of stress has risen since last year with more people reporting feeling that they’re under extreme stress. I know because my stress levels became so great that I ended up in the ER after I thought I was having a heart attack. It turned out to be a panic attack. And after my blood tested negative for a heart attack and echocardiography stress test, the cardiologist determined it was just extreme stress. So I’ve been there. To honor National Stress Awareness Month, I’ll share 11 ways you can relieve stress that you can start today.

April is National Stress Awareness Month, according to the American Psychological Association, and we are going to begin our month by talking to a stress expert, Martin Boroson, author of One-Moment Meditation: Stillness for People on the Go. Two complaints people have about meditation: 1) They don't have time, and 2) they don't know how to do it. Yet 75% of adults report experiencing high levels of stress and almost half report that their stress is increased from the previous year. So, today, Martin is going to be talking about a solution to some of these issues, the One-Moment Meditation. Martin is an emerging new voice in meditation and his book has been published in 8 different languages. He's taught this radical approach in leadership seminars, hospitals, public workshops and the media and his 30-Day Program for Transforming Stress was featured on Oprah.com last year. This program has your name written all over it.
