THE VATICAN ARCHIVES 1. The Chief Exorcist of the Vatican Performed 100,000+ Exorcisms Although exorcism is believed to be a practice only seen in horror movies and is the Middle Ages, the practice continues to be alive in the Catholic Church. Father Gabriele Amorth is a late Priest and served as the chief exorcist of the Vatican. He served for 60 years, and is believed to have performed approximately 160,000 exorcisms. The exorcism rite, however, is not just limited to the late chief exorcist. It has been performed by various Popes over the years. In 2018, BBC reported that the Vatican welcomed 250 priests from across the world to an annual workshop. 2. The Vatican Helped Nazi War Criminals Escape the Allied Forces After the victory of the Allied Forces in Germany to end World War II, the Nazis were forced to seek refuge outside Europe. Thousands of Nazis managed to escape to South American countries, specifically Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. Harvard researcher Gerald Steinacher wrote a book that shows travel documents pointing to the Vatican having helped the Nazis travel to these countries. Steinacher argues that it was done with the hope of reviving European Christianity and fear of the growing influence of the Soviet Union. The Vatican, however, has refused to comment on these claims. 3. The Vatican Made Money from the Holocaust In addition to aiding the escape of thousands of Nazis from Europe, the Vatican was also involved in helping smuggle Nazi looted art, golf, and other property belonging to Jewish families. Gerald Posner, an American journalist, says that Bernardino Nogara, the financial advisor to the Vatican is believed to have been one of Nazi spies. He is believed to have instituted a horrifying scheme that allowed the Vatican to invest money in Italian insurance companies that kept the assets from the life insurance plans of the murdered Jewish families. Since the Vatican was an investor and not a direct insurer, they did not need to return any of the money made using the scheme. 4. Scandals of the Vatican Bank The Vatican Bank, also called the Institute for the Works of Religion (IOR) has been involved in numerous scandals. The most controversial is their dealing with Hitler. Gerald Posner, a historian, points out that the Vatican received Church Tax from Hitler every year. A substantial amount of money was paid to the IOR, so that it cannot be tracked by western banks. The IOR was used to store billions of dollars, the details of which have never been publicly revealed. 5. Vatileaks A book named ‘His Holiness' was released in 2012, which is based on the leaked secret papers of Pope Benedict. The private documents were leaked by Benedict XVI's own butler to the author, Gianluigi Nuzzi. After reviewing these documents, an internal investigation was held. The investigation revealed that individuals who were not from the Vaitcan were blackmailing gay bishops since they had broken their celibacy vows. Pope Benedict CVI went on to resign from the Papacy in 2013 due to this scandal. 6. The Apostolic Penitentiary The Apostolic Penitentiary is a secret tribunal that investigates so-called ‘heinous' crimes of individuals. It was supposedly found in 1179, and was kept secret until 2009. Only the pope can grant absolution to people brought to this tribunal. Examples of sins include attempting to assassinate the pope, a priest exposing the sin or identity of a person who has confessed to them, and so on. The pope acts as the head of this tribunal, and is called the Major Penitentiary, and can either offer absolution, or let the automatic excommunication stand. 7. Dead Man on Trial In 897 AD, the Catholic Church put a dead man on trial. Known as the 'Cadaver Synod,' the posthumous trial of Pope Formosus was held by Pope Stephen VI, his successor. Formosus was accused of usurping the papacy, despite being dead for 7 months by that point. The body of the pope was exhumed, dressed in ecclesiastical attire, and brought to the papal court for judgment. A deacon was even appointed to speak on the dead Pope's behalf. He was found guilty; all his acts as pope was declared null and void; his body was stripped off the garments and dressed in rags; his three fingers of benediction were cut off and his body was cast into River Tiber, where ancient Romans disposed off their infamous criminals for centuries. Conspiracy Theories About the Vatican's Secret Archives 1. Jesus Does Not Exist There are reports that the Archives contain communication between Emperor Nero and Saint Paul regarding the existence of Jesus. Some clergy believe that the Vatican is hiding proof that Jesus Christ did not exist. 2. Evidence of Extraterrestrial Life Rumors suggest that the Vatican holds proof of the existence of extraterrestrial life, in the form of extraterrestrial skulls. Some sources say that the Archives contain proof that the pope is conspiring extraterrestrial beings to implant everyone on Earth with computer chips. 3. Three Secrets of Fatima The controversial Third Secret of Fatima is believed to be a secret document hidden within the Archives. In 1917, three children from Portugal received prophecies, one of which was witnessed by thousands of people. The supposed suppression of this Third Secret fueled rumors that its contents were regarding a nuclear holocaust, natural disaster, and so on. The release of the contents of this Secret in 2000 did not do much to quell speculation. 4. Home to the Largest Collection of Pornography Some conspiracy theorists believe that the Vatican Archives contain the largest collection of pornography in the world. Copenhagen's Museum of Erotica confirms these speculations, in addition to writings by National Review founder William Buckley Jr, and scholar Camilla Paglia. 5. They are Controlled by the Illuminati Some people believe that despite their dissolution in the medieval times, the Illuminati has solely built itself up, with its members placed in some of the most powerful positions across the world. One such powerful office is the Vatican, where many of its prominent members are believed to be part of the Illuminati. 6. It is Home to a Time Machine Believed to have been built by an Italian scientist and priest, Father Pellegrino Maria Ernetti, the Chronovisor is a device that apparently allows people to view the future and past. Although there is no record of such a device, some people believe it is hidden somewhere in the Archives.

The Catholic Herald Podcast: Merely Catholic with Gavin Ashenden
Dr Gavin Ashenden is joined for this episode of Merely Catholic, the podcast series for the Catholic Herald, by Alexander Tschugguel, who in 2019 achieved global fame when he took an icon of a pachamama earth goddess from the Carmelite Church of Santa Maria in Traspontina, near the Vatican, and threw it into the River Tiber. A convert from Lutheranism, Mr Tschugguel explains why it was idolatrous to allow such pagan icons near the altar of a Catholic church, saying it was a direct contravention of the First Commandment and also an insult to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He also reflects on the sinister ideologies that he believes lay behind the decision to invite pagan fertility symbols into a church and what the objectives of such thinking might be.
Welcome to Episode 3 of your favorite music podcast, The Record Report. This week, we'll be taking a BUS RIDE (all puns intended) through Kaytranada's debut studio album, 99.9%. Following a slew of SoundCloud flips to get people to the dancefloor in the early 2010s like his flip of Teedra Moses' track "Just Wanna Be Your Girl," Kaytranada was on a steady rise in the music industry. The hype only kicked into a second gear when he signed to XL Recordings in 2014 and the label eventually announced that he would drop a debut album. "LEAVE ME ALONE" was the lead single that most fans knew, but the Montreal producer had a knack for teasing tracks from 99.9% throughout several live mixes while touring, from Broccoli City Fest to Afropunk. When 99.9% came out, the album met much-deserved critical and commercial acclaim for having such a refreshing sound in (what was at the time) the turning tide of music. However, what we didn't know coming back into it now is how much it's aged like a fine wine. Not only was Kaytra's debut a precursor for his historical Grammy-winning album BUBBA, but it included a wide variety of talent from young legends like Craig David and Phonte to artists that set the tone for the industry in the 2010s like Syd and Anderson .Paak. For this episode, we choose our top 3 songs from 99.9%, talk about the album's importance to the electronic/house genre at that time, and give our flowers to several underrated artists who made a splash in the 2010s from River Tiber to BadBadNotGood. We also talk about the lack of good R&B (from men) that doesn't focus mainly on sex, and mention what we listen to breaking shit in the gym. @Yo_Ahki/@VanceB_ Listen to this new episode and previous others on: Apple Podcasts(https://tinyurl.com/jydzz9fk) Spotify (https://tinyurl.com/c3u77hcf) Anchor (https://anchor.fm/recordreport) Follow Record Report Podcast on: Instagram: (@RecordRepPod) Facebook: Facebook.com/RecordReportPodcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/recreppodcast?lang=en #Kaytranada #999 #Montreal #Canada #AndersonPaak #Syd #House #Electronic #EDM #Soulection #Podcast

Talk about a Cross-Cultural Kid!Harry Qian is an undergraduate at UC Berkeley planning to study Physics. He has Chinese blood flowing in his veins, grew up along the banks of River Tiber in Italy, and received his education at an American International School in Rome. During his downtime at Berkeley, he volunteers in an aid organization, connects with other ethnic-Chinese students in a university-based club, and regularly holds “Harry's Review Sessions,” helping his friends with their academic work. The guiding question for the episode was, “what does it mean to be a Third Culture Kid/TCK (aka Cross-Cultural Kid)? ”Harry described growing up as a Chinese National in Italy while attending an international school. He outlined the differences among the worlds in which he lives. We also discussed what attributes Harry gained from living in these cultures and how those characteristics support him now as a college student. Harry provided some tips for teachers of cross-cultural students while also advising his fellow student travelers as they make the jump to university life. Amazon Book Club Traditional festivals in Ghana have roots that may be traced to the earliest ancestors we can think of. No wonder almost every ethnic group has its festival. What follows below is a treatment of the Ohum festival of the Akyem Abuakwa as recounted by my grandfather Opanyin Owusu-Koranteng, popularly known as Teacher Owusu-Koranteng. It touches on why every year the Ohum festival is celebrated. The aim for writing this account is modest. It is intended to arouse and satisfy the interest of readers to see the VALUE and SIGNIFICANCE of festivals in Ghanaian society, by using the Ohum as a typical one. Special apology however goes for anyone or group of persons who may in one way or the other be offended by this publication. A factual history of Ohum better spelt “Ohunuu-mu” must to the author, be written because of some people's worship of PREMPESUPREMPEH. This is the Biriem river god, whose shrines are at Akyem Tafo and Kyebi. Worshipping of gods is not peculiar to the Akyems, Ghanaians or Africans. The Romans worshipped and prayed to River Tiber in Italy, calling it, “Father Tiber.” (Refer Macaulay, C Days of Ancient Rome.) The Britons sing, and boast of being sons of the sea. (Refer the British patriotic song, “When Britons first at heaven's command arose from out of the azure main etc. etc.) and several other citations that this narration has not enough space to portray. The author is a Christian, and do not advocate the worship of gods, but JEHOVAH-GOD. He has implicit belief in Jesus Christ and respects JEHOVAH's command to his people in abstaining from idol and image worship as found in Exodus 20:3 in the Holy Bible. Nevertheless, this work is mere history which needs to be written for posterity.

In Roman mythology, the twin brothers Romulus and Remus created the city of Rome. The killing of Remus by his twin, along with other tales from their story, have inspired artists throughout the ages. Since ancient times, the image of a she-wolf suckling the twins has been a symbol of the city of Rome and the ancient Romans. The story of the twin brothers is believed to have been told before the founding of Rome. This is because the earliest written account of the myth dates back to the 3rd century BC.The pair were the children of Mars and Rhea, and their story is often told by authors such as Virgil wherein they were born in order to create Rome. Modern scholarship approaches the stories of Romulus and Remus, with the retelling being based on the various versions presented by Roman historians. Other narratives suggest that these are popular or folkloric traditions, while some remain inscrutable in their meanings. They were often described by poets and painters to be well built, tall and had the classic physical features of the classical Mediterranean man. They had dark curly hair and physically dominant in stature. They are descendants of Aeneas, who were responsible for discovering Italy. Romulus and Remus were related to Aeneas through Numitor, who was the king of Alba Longa and their mother's father. Before they were conceived, his reign was usurped by Amulius, who was the brother of Mars.Amulius inherited the treasury of Alba Longa from Numitor. He wanted to avoid a conflict of power, so he killed the male heirs of Numitor and forced Rhea to become a Vestal Virgin. Vestal Virgins were priestesses of Vesta, patron goddess of the hearth; they were charged with keeping a sacred fire that was never to be extinguished and to take vows of chastity. Some legends suggest that Mars appeared and laid with Rhea, while others suggest that Hercules was her partner. It is also possible that she was raped by an unknown man, and that she gave birth to her sons. It was custom for a Vestal Virgin to be condemned to death if she betrayed her vows, however, since Amulius feared the wrath of Hercules or Mars, he did not want to stain his hands with the blood of her children.Amulius ordered the execution of the twin brothers by throwing them into the Tiber River. He believed that since they would die without being killed by the sword, they would be spared from punishment by the gods. He ordered a servant to carry out the death sentence, but in every scenario of this myth, the servant takes pity on the twins and spares their lives. The servant, then, places the twins into a basket onto the River Tiber, and the river carries the boys to safety.Being characters that were exclusive to the Roman mythology and among the few characters that were not influenced by the Greeks, they do not have any alternate names. The city of Rome was named after the victorious brother Romulus who fought with his brother over the location of the new city. The twins were not blessed with any powers or super human capabilities. They however had established themselves as leaders with the command over the people within their armies. The story of Romulus and Remus have been told and retold from various perspectives in modern cinema, television and have inspired numerous books and novels. There have been claims that the biblical story of Cain and Able was heavily inspired by the legend of Romulus and Remus.Read about them at https://mythlok.com/romulus-remus/

“It's impossible to overstate the terror and uncertainty that swarmed Marcus' life. Just while writing Meditations, Rome fought a war against the Parthians that lasted five years. The River Tiber broke its banks and produced one of the worst floods in Rome's history, destroying homes and livestock, and leaving behind a famine as it receded.”Ryan uses an example from Marcus Aurelius' life to communicate the importance of living selflessly.Sign up for the Daily Stoic email: http://DailyStoic.com/signupFollow us: Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook

They weave together everything from jazz and gospel to hip-hop and soul, pushed through a modern electronic filter and have released two albums to date: their self-titled debut, and Ash. Joining them is cinematic pop and soul producer and artist Adam Bainbridge, aka Kindness. They’ve produced for the likes of Blood Orange, Solange and frequent collaborator Robyn. Charlotte Day Wilson is a Canadian R&B singer-songwriter who’s released three EPs to date and has worked with the likes of Daniel Caesar, River Tiber, and BadBadNotGood. In our very first episode, we covered Theseus, a legend himself, but today we get to meet the man whom most believe founded Rome, Romulus! Man or legend, you be the judge. Romulus was a towering figure to the ancient Romans who endured to bring glory to the Empire that Romulus set upon the world on April 21, 752 BC.Excerpt"Plutarch next moves to my favorite origin story, which I like to call the "Revenge of the Trojans", which is set at the time Agamemnon was pillaging and burning the Great city of Troy to avenge his dead brothers pride, while a few distraught Trojans fled the city, loaded up on some surviving Trireme's and set out to find a new home, a new Troy and rebuild their society." Enjoy!Support the show

"Nothing about Marcus Aurelius’ reign was fair. Fate tested him with one catastrophe after another. The Parthians invaded and triggered a war that would last five years. Then the River Tiber flooded, destroying homes and livestock, causing a famine in Rome. Then, after victory against the Parthians, Romans brought back a deadly contagion, which became known as the Antonine Plague. Then, crippled by famine and plague, hostile tribes to the north seized the opportunity to band together and attacked the Romans—a war that would last the rest of his days."The way Marcus responded to his swings in fortune mirrors how you should treat your kids—something Ryan explains further in today's Daily Dad Podcast.***If you enjoyed this week’s podcast, we’d love for you to leave a review on Apple Podcasts. Dickens Olewe meets Italy’s first and only black senator, Tony Iwobi, and hears how a new generation of black Italians are fighting to claim their place in a society that’s still very white. Born and raised in Nigeria, Senator Iwobi moved to Italy as a young man and carved out a successful career in business. Now he’s immigration spokesperson for the right-wing Lega party and wants to stop the illegal flow of migrants coming to Italy from Africa. BBC Africa journalist Dickens Olewe follows Iwobi in the Senate in Rome and finds out what it’s like to be black in a party that’s widely perceived as racist. At a festival on the bank of the River Tiber, Dickens meets aspiring politician Paolo Diop from the Far-Right Brothers of Italy. Diop moved to Italy from Senegal as a baby and describes himself as “an Italian nationalist and an African nationalist” who wants to “make Africa great” by sending migrants home. We also meet the young black activists coming of age in the midst of the migrant crisis and the rise of the political right. Born and bred in Italy, they feel deeply Italian but are not always recognised as such - among them the rapper Tommy Kuti whose work explores his Afro-Italian identity, the founder of Milan’s Afro Fashion Week Michelle Francine Ngonmo and the writer Igiaba Scego, whose parents grew up in one of Italy’s African colonies. Producer: Helen Grady (Image: Afro-Italian rapper and musician Tommy Kuti in Milan. Credit: Helen Grady/BBC)

This guy is a fan of culture (music, art, movies, documentaries…) He got a big collection of CDs and vinyl records. He selected a lot of music from 2016 (rap us & fr, rnb, soul, electronic, future bass, grime…). He gave me 146 tracks to do this mix. I was like “dude, are you serious?”. In 1875, Rome came close to losing its river. In that year, the liberator of Italy, General Giuseppe Garibaldi, visited and announced plans to clean up the Eternal City. His main target was the River Tiber. Garibaldi would solve problems from pollution to flooding by diverting the river and completely removing it from the city. Where did this idea come from? And why wasn’t it carried out? Do you like the podcast? Please rate or review the podcast and share it with friends.
