This week I chat with Heather Mueur who is the owner, founder, and visionary behind The Embers, a glamping and RV resort in Branson, Missouri. Heather and her husband Ryan built and sold an auto parts business, and used the proceeds from that to purchase this abandoned campground. Heather takes us through the 2-year process of permits, plans, and construction, as well as the financing process–everything from SBA loans to finding investors. I asked all about the additional income streams they created, including an onsite laundromat and coffee shop. And you'll also hear how she grew her social media account from a couple hundred followers... to over 100,000 from LITERALLY JUST ONE POST. Lastly, Heather teases us on her newest project, a boutique motel located just a couple miles from her campground which will be slowly renovated in phases to accommodate existing reservations! Listen in as Erin and Zander discuss: How Zander went from military service in Iraq to building a $35 million real estate portfolio Why he pivoted from multifamily housing to the untapped niche of RV and glamping resorts The creative financing strategies he uses to secure unique deals How his team markets glamping resorts for maximum occupancy using travel sites, SEO, and influencer partnerships How passive investors can earn monthly distributions (not just quarterly) while also enjoying perks like free stays at the resorts … and much more! About Zander Kempf is a real estate investor and developer specializing in RV and glamping resorts through his firm, Clear Summit Investments. His strategy? Acquiring, scaling, and branding midsize resorts that generate long-term cash flow and financial freedom, but more importantly, provide investors with the opportunity to redefine success and build a life on their own terms. As a former US Army officer, paratrooper, and Special Forces support with a deployment to Iraq, Zander sought a life where freedom wasn't just financial; it was personal. He turned overlooked real estate opportunities into scalable, high-performing assets to create authentic freedom for himself, going from a single home purchase to his now over 35 million dollar portfolio. But for him, investing has never been just about returns. It's about the power to choose, design, and live a life that truly aligns with who you are. Now, living in Hawaii, prioritizing his love for adventure, balance, and health, he's proof that real estate isn't just an investment; it's a vehicle to unlock the life you actually want to live. And now, he's helping others do the same. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
A trunk ride with Billy Gibbons, a pair of “blessed” boots, and the moment a lyric became a band name—this one has stories. We sit down with American Mile's Eugene Rice for a fast, funny, and unfiltered tour through the making of a modern Southern rock band built on grit, harmony, and a never-quit work ethic. From a Vermont town of 1,500 to SoCal stages, Eugene traces the path: sleeping in rehearsal spaces, selling a bike to buy an RV, and logging 200+ dates a year—often in four-hour marathons that would break most bands. He breaks down how “American Mile” emerged mid-take with producer Keith Nelson (Buckcherry), why a bison ended up on the merch table, and how thrift-store scarves became a signature stage move that also solved the hated-iPad problem. We get into sound and influence—Allman Brothers and Skynyrd bones with modern threads from The Black Crowes and Blackberry Smoke. Eugene spotlights the B3 and harmony vocals as secret sauce, plus the rotating “fifth member” who steps in for showcases. Then it gets practical: the economics of LA gigs, the reality of casino anchors, and why a vintage guitar day job keeps the dream alive and the tone honest. He opens the hood on the business too—band democracy, equal pay, and a vesting path to ownership that rewards the grind—while telling road-war stories about blown control arms, stolen catalytic converters, and welding fixes that saved shows.Underneath the laughs and lore sits a clear message: the American dream is still there if you work for it. Mentors matter. Systems matter. Saying yes matters. If you're building a band, a creative career, or any longshot, you'll leave with playbook-level tactics and renewed fight. Now for something fun — that can also be electricity generating infrastructure, if need be. My guest is Toby Kraus, co-founder and CEO of Lightship RV, the first American company to build all-electric RVs. The Lightship isn't just a camper — it's a battery on wheels, with solar on the roof, a pop-up design for aerodynamics, and its own motor to cancel out towing drag. That means you can take it off-grid for a week … or park it in your driveway and use it as backup power. We talk about:Why RVs are a surprisingly big climate story (one in ten American families owns one!)The range problem with towing — and how Lightship solves itTurning an RV into an ADU or a home backup systemHow to make clean tech appeal beyond the early adoptersIt's the clean energy transition, with a side of camping.
Did you know that your tow vehicle actually carries a part of your trailer's weight? So how do you know if you're towing safely? This week we report on the Weigh Safe True Tow HD hitch we've been using that tells us if we're in the safe zone. How good is the Weigh Safe hitch and how does it compare to the other hitches we've tried? We have those answer in this week's podcast at our home on the web at https://www.stresslesscamping.com/podcast/0327, on YouTube or wherever you enjoy getting podcasts. The StressLess Camping podcast is a weekly RV podcast with information, tips and tricks to help every RVer and camper enjoy some StressLess Camping.
"Learning about the inner child process connected things in a way that I had never thought of... never consciously recognized, and it was stark. And it started to explain so much."In this emotional and deeply transformative episode, I sit down with Hilary Valentine to talk about her journey inside The Mothership and the powerful shifts she experienced as she healed her mother wound. Hilary shares how the sudden loss of her father became a turning point that pushed her to re-examine her life, her family dynamics, and the patterns she was carrying. What followed was a profound exploration of inner child work, where she uncovered hidden layers of codependency, guilt, and unspoken grief that had been shaping her relationships since childhood.Through the process, Hilary moved from intellectualizing her pain to fully feeling and releasing it in her body, transformations that rippled into her relationship with her mom, her husband, her kids, and even her business. She bravely speaks about the moments of breakthrough that shifted her identity from people-pleasing and self-doubt into embodied clarity, freedom, and authentic self-expression.If you've ever struggled with family dynamics, carried unprocessed grief, or felt the weight of expectations shaping your choices, Hilary's story will inspire you to trust the process of inner healing and remind you that breaking generational patterns is not only possible, it changes everything.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTSLife on the Road – Hilary's family's full-time RV journey and what led her to join The Mothership. The Catalyst: Losing Her Father – Shifting life perspective for a new path.Struggles with Family Reactions – Opening up about guilt and mom's sense of abandonment. The Mother Story Realization – Discoveries through the inner child process.Unprocessed Grief Around Her Brother – Facing hidden emotions of fear, anger, and guilt tied to her brother's terminal illness and loss.Breakthrough with Her Mom – The pivotal moment when Hilary embodied the work.Owning Her Truth in Business and Life**WAYS TO ENTER MY WORLD** When you leave a review of the podcast, send us a screenshot and we'll send you a $250 credit, you can apply to anything else in my world. When most people think about recreational vehicles– you know, RVs, campers, they picture freedom — the open road, family vacations, maybe even a way of life. What probably doesn't come to mind is deforestation in Borneo. Yet half of all tropical plywood harvested globally ends up in RVs.In episode 199 of the Outdoor Minimalist podcast, we dig into how the RV industry in the United States has become a major driver of rainforest destruction, threatening orangutan habitat, draining peatlands, and displacing Indigenous Dayak communities. Our guest, Amanda Hurowitz, Senior Director at Mighty Earth, walks us through her team's investigation into how one specific type of plywood from Indonesia makes its way into American RVs and why it has been an industry secret for so long.Amanda Hurowitz leads Mighty Earth's Forest Commodities team, overseeing campaigns to protect forests and communities across Asia and Africa. In which our investigators return to the darkness, and time is proven to be a fixed and unfixed concept… A Call of Cthulhu scenario by Danann McAleer. Episodes released weekly. Cast: Dr. Henry Carraig-Muire - Joseph Chance Rev. Perregrine McCutcheon - Dan Wheeler Lady Helen Marjorie Bjarmia Potts - Dominic Allen CW: This podcast contains mature themes, strong language and cosmic horror. Human discretion is advised. The Apocalypse Players is an actual play (or live play) TTRPG podcast focused on horror tabletop roleplaying games. Think Dimension 20 or Critical Role, but fewer dragons, more eldritch horrors, and more British actors taking their roleplaying very seriously (most of the time). We primarily play the Chaosium RPG Call of Cthulhu, but have also been known to dabble with other systems, most of which can be found on our Patreon: www.patreon.com/apocalypseplayers We now have a free Discord server where you can come worship at the altar of the Apocalypse, play Call of Cthulhu online, and meet like-minded cultists who will only be too eager to welcome you into the fold. New sacrifices oops we mean players are always welcome. Andy and Brendan are back at the Ryder Cup — this time, not in an RV but a hipster Brooklyn spot — to record their first episode of the week together. It's a wide-ranging preview episode that begins with some instant reactions and amusements from the Opening Ceremony, featuring Don Rea and essays about New York being considered gritty. They discuss some of their insights from the ground walking around, talking to some players and getting the lay of Bethpage again. They read the tea leaves and discuss some of the pairings that could be coming and how Bryson DeChambeau, and a potential partnership with Justin Thomas, may prove to be the tipping point for great success or great disaster. They discuss the potential for crowd troubles and how the golf course sets up as “so American” for taking the teeth out of a place that's supposed to have a warning sign. Then they bring in KVV for his “KVV Three” notes from the ground on some amusing subjects and an SGS RC Fantasy draft with Andy, Brendan, KVV, and “The Boys.” They finish it out with some picks for top points earners, winner, and most likely to get in a tussle.
The last hours of a winter RV trip provide more culinary adventures and a misunderstanding between Bronwyn and Heather than undoes the progress they made sharing a kayak. Back in Salt Lake City, we learn that socialites exist there, watch a tense lunch between Heather and Bronwyn, check in with Mary and her son Robert Jr., see Whitney do sick snowboard tricks, and hear more shocking details about the allegations against Lisa. The return of Lisa Barlow, with Heather eager to fill her in about Bronwyn's descriptions of Lisa's legal woes, primes the episode for an epic confrontation. Kris welcomes “The Jens”, aka Jennifer House (CEO) and Jenni Grawvunder (COO) of Children's Choice Preschool, to share the remarkable story behind their 12-center child care empire in San Diego County. What started as a nonprofit program with 25 children has grown into a thriving operation serving nearly 1,300 kids across 11 centers (with a 12th on the way) and supported by a team of over 300 staff. From pet chickens to RV-based school openings, the Jens talk about blending practical business strategy with fun, managing both nonprofit and for-profit centers, building culture through grace and accountability, and how a vivid vision exercise helped reawaken their passion (and their animal sanctuary dreams). They also share some great advice on marketing, building a community, and not staying stuck as a leader. Key Takeaways: [8:24] The Jens join Kris from sunny San Diego. [9:37] Jen House reflects on starting Children's Choice in 1998 as a nonprofit with 25 children. [10:11] They now operate 11 schools, with the 12th in escrow. [23:51] Why adaptability has been key to their continued growth. [24:05] Their dynamic: Jen is the visionary; Jenni is the implementer and numbers brain. [30:15] Their marketing strategy includes events, banners, mailers, and constant hustle. [33:38] Why they gave up enrollment specialists and returned to director-led tours. [36:02] Jenni's personal journey of staying in California and building a life she never imagined. [37:33] Their next move? An RV to launch school #12 on the road.
