Through the lens of psychology, Dr. Siegal, and Dr. Gardner, consider Trump's apparent cognitive decline and personality disorder that plays into his constant lying and manipulation. Dr. Siegel emphasizes the feeling of betrayal experienced by long-standing allies, pointing out how Trump's erratic geopolitical engagements are sidestepping crucial, longstanding diplomatic protocols. And Dr. Gardner examines some of federal appointments that have dangerously concentrated executive power in the hands of conspiracy theorists and authoritarians. The hosts also analyze recent town hall meetings across the country, where constituents from both sides of the political spectrum have shown a growing anger with Trump's mayhem and Musk's shadowy involvement in the federal government. This public sentiment, Dr. Gartner asserts, could absolutely sway Trump's approval ratings, which are currently in a rapid decline across multiple polls. We'll take a look at the psychology of resilience, and discuss how mounting resistance, seen at these town halls and in protests all over America, offers a critical reminder of the power of persistence in the struggle for democracy. As always, we urge our listeners to remain vigilant and informed, to combat misinformation and stand up to tyranny. So be sure to join us next week as Dr. Gartner, and Dr. Siegel, continue their mission of Shrinking Trump. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We'd love your feedback! What resonated for you in this episode? What do you want more of?Transparency is a requirement for any meaningful change in our family court system for survivors of domestic violence and narcissistic abuse. This is extremely apparent when you hear the horror stories of survivors day after day of their time and retraumatization in family court. And just recently, the curtain has been pulled back to allow the world to see what is really going on when a survivor of domestic violence tries to protect her children in family court. Today I am talking with two survivors with their own horror stories who have both received media attention on their cases.Rachel Pickrel-Hawkins was recently in the news after being jailed for protecting her children. And while the media reported several things incorrectly (which will be corrected in this episode) it shed the light on courts ordering reunification therapy when there are significant concerns of sexual abuse with what turns out to be an unethical therapist.Erin Siegal's case was in the limelight several years ago on her experiences with unethical and harmful court evaluators and other legal professionals. This case and reporting were at the start of the movement here in Colorado that allowed Kayden's Law and other laws to be passed to help start court reform. She continues to be threatened with gag orders to silence her advocacy. We need to continue the momentum and continue to shine the spotlight on what is really going on in our family court system. So that survivors are not silenced. Ep 89 – George Floyd's Murder Was A Hit I realized that the facts did not add up, especially when I learned that the two men knew each other and had worked together at the same nightclub. Listed below are my notes for the podcast. Please do your homework and see if you come to the same conclusion. SUMMARY 1. George Floyd, a black man whose death Monday sparked ongoing protests, and Derek Chauvin, identified by local media as the officer who was videotaped kneeling on Floyd's neck for minutes shortly before his death, worked at the same nightclub Maya Santamaria owned El Nuevo Rodeo Club in Minneapolis' south side until selling it just months ago, and confirmed to local media outlets that both Floyd and Chauvin worked security at the establishment. Chauvin worked outside the club while security guards, like Floyd, worked inside. They had overlapping shifts. They had to have known each other. El Nuevo Rodeo Club, where Chauvin and Floyd both worked, is just down the street from Minneapolis' Third Precinct. 2. Chauvin married a Hmong woman, and two other arresting officers are of Hmong descent. 3. Hmong Gangs are very active in the Northeast, including the gang Menace of Destruction (MOD). MOD is known for prostitution, drugs, and counterfeiting. 4. Despite having Chauvin as off-duty security outside the club, the police could never solve the crimes or connect the suspects to El Nuevo Rodeo Club activity. 5. In 2012, the FBI busted a drug ring that involved the Mexican gang La Familia (also known for drugs and counterfeiting) and the Hmong gang Menace of Destruction. The ring involved the selling of methamphetamine, a “Club Drug” being pushed by Mexican cartels. EL NUEVO RODEO CLUB – MAY HAVE BEEN GROUND ZERO FOR COUNTERFEITING. Owned by Maya Santamaria, a singer, waitress, and music promoter with a degree in anthropology. The city is pushing to shut down the Rodeo. The nightclub's future lies in the hands of a judge who is deciding whether to recommend that the City Council yank its liquor license. In 2006, the club got slapped with fines for violating city code: It had hosted more people than the fire code allowed, had advertised as a nightclub when it was licensed as a restaurant/nightclub, and was Questioned about selling more alcohol than food (the liquor license requires that 60 percent of sales be food). That December, city officials convened to determine whether El Nuevo Rodeo's liquor license should be renewed. Santamaria agreed to submit her food and alcohol receipts for the next year. In April 2008, three people were shot outside of Denny's, right across the street from the nightclub. A story in the Longfellow/Nokomis Messenger connected the shooting to nightclub patrons, though police were never able to prove it. On November 14, 2008 there were multiple police calls associated with the nightclub. Incidents ranged from shots fired (almost an officer-involved shooting), to several felony assaults (on patrons and staff), to numerous misdemeanors (obstructing, disorderly conduct, assault, theft The city compiled its case against the nightclub: a stack of 28 police call reports from 2008 and six from 2009. The city attorney on the case described the business as having "an inordinately high number of incidents of criminal behavior." DEREK CHAUVIN – MAY HAVE BEEN IN HMONG GANG Records show that the 44-year-old Chauvin initially studied cooking before taking courses in law enforcement and doing two stints in the Army as a military police officer in the late 1990s, serving at Fort Benning, Georgia, and in Germany. Chauvin became a Minneapolis police officer in 2001. He had 17 complaints against him, including one for pulling a woman out of her car during a speeding stop. He won two medals of valor, one in 2006 for being part of a group of officers who opened fire on a stabbing suspect who pointed a shotgun at them and another in 2008 for a domestic violence incident in which Chauvin broke down a bathroom door and shot a suspect in the stomach. Married to Kellie Chauvin, a Laotian immigrant who became the first Hmong winner of the Mrs. Minnesota pageant. In 2009, he single-handedly apprehended a group of gang members while working as an off-duty security guard at the El Nuevo Rodeo, a Minneapolis nightclub. (Chauvin shoots most suspects but apprehends an entire gang BY HIMSELF. This does not add up). HMONG GANGS IN MINNEAPOLIS - MENACE OF DESTRUCTION" (MOD), FORMERLY KNOWN AS "MASTERS OF DESTRUCTION – LINKED TO “CLUB DRUGS” AND COUNTERFEITING is a Hmong street gang created in 1988. Today, it is active in every state, with a large Hmong community in California, the Midwestern United States, known for prostitution, money laundering, the distribution of narcotics, and counterfeiting. A national drug ring based in Twin Cities was busted after months of surveillance and wiretaps in March 2012. The cartel La Familia smuggled millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine from Mexico to Minnesota. The drugs then went through a local member of the cartel and the Menace of Destruction gang. La Familia is also known for counterfeiting. Eleven-year veteran and native Hmong speaker Tou Thao began as a community service officer and was the subject of six complaints. No longer chiefly made by "cooks" in makeshift labs in the U.S., methamphetamine is now the domain of Mexican drug cartels that are mass-producing high-quality quantities of the drug and pushing it into markets where it was previously unknown. While methamphetamine remains a street drug in many parts of the country, it functions as a “club drug” in the Northeast United States. While diffused to the Northeast, certain elements of the drug economy and networks of use have allowed it to retain its status as a club drug. Methamphetamine use has been found in a range of club subcultures, including electronic dance music clubs, raves, and circuit parties (Mansergh et al., 2001; McCaughan, Carlson, Falck, & Siegal, 2005; Yacoubian et al., 2004). THE ARREST – LOOKED LIKE AN EXECUTION 46-year-old George Floyd was arrested on suspicion of forgery on May 25. Cellphone video of Floyd's May 25 arrest showed Chauvin placing his left knee on Floyd's neck with Lane holding Floyd's legs and Kueng holding his back while Thao stood between the officers and onlookers, according to charging documents.Join The Community Follow us on:Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/quantumAIradioTwitter (X) at @EventHo14339589Instagram at @EventHorizonEmail at mpeter1896@gmail.com Subscribe To My Other Podcasts:Movie Reviews from the Edge - https://www.spreaker.com/show/movie-reviews-from-the-edgeThe Mark Peterson Show - https://www.spreaker.com/show/the_mark_peterson_show Support the Show Did you know you can support the podcast by joining the Spreaker Supporter Club? This week Tee is delighted to welcome George Siegal for an informative conversation about what to look for and what questions to ask when you are buying or renting a home. George is an impassioned filmmaker, with a new documentary coming out this summer titled Built to Last: Buyer Beware, casting a spotlight on the impacts of substandard home construction on both homeowners and communities. This film continues his commitment to revealing critical housing issues, as seen in his previous work, The Last House Standing, which uncovers the high price of inaction in the face of disaster. Siegal's debut film, License to Parent, explored the intricacies of modern parenting. Before diving into filmmaking, Siegal was a television weatherman and show host. Today, he channels his expertise into advocating for informed homeownership as the host of the Homeowners Be Aware podcast, guiding listeners through the complexities of the housing world. His mission is to ignite a conversation about the significance of the spaces we inhabit, urging people to make informed decisions about their homes and the communities they shape. __________________________ Connect with George: Website Podcast Films __________________________ Follow Therese "Tee" Forton-Barnes and The Green Living Gurus: Tee's Organics - Therese's Healthy Products for You and Your Home: Check out these incredible products made only with purified water, seven essential oils, and vinegar. Tonight on Trackside, Curt Cavin and Kevin Lee talk about the massive TV deal IndyCar landed with Fox Sports, and how every single race will be on Network TV. We also talk about Nolan Siegal taking over Theo Pourchaire's seat. Kevin and Curt talks about how Siegel has talent, but he also has a budget behind him that can benefit McLaren, especially with his dad's connections to Fortune 500 companies. Kevin talks about how business is important in motorsports, and Siegel's connections are perfect for the team. Later in the the first hour of the show, Kevin and Curt talk about why McLaren has had such controversy with retaining drivers, and how easy it is to get fired in racing, and how drivers can make it difficult for teams to get rid of them. Kevin talks about the return of Agustin Canapino, and why he wasn't ready for Road America. They also touch on Canapino admitting he did not handle the situation with Pourchaire correctly. To round out the first hour, Kevin heads to the Xbox to read some questions sent to him by listeners, including the musical chairs at McLaren. In the second hour of the show, Kevin and Curt delve more into the broadcasting schedule with Fox in 2025. They delve into how the 500 will be covered on Fox, and the fact that the season ends before the NFL starts. They talk about changes in the schedule, including moving race dates, and Thermal becoming a points race. Curt talks about how much clearer of a path Fox has for summer sports than NBC has, and the streaming component of the series. Indy NXT will also be on television, airing on FS1, which will build popularity for the series. Kevin also talks about the likelihood of his working for Fox next season. Later in the second hour, Kevin and Curt talk about how Kanaan played a role in helping David Malukas at McLaren and answered some information on if Texas would return to the schedule. Kevin talks about why the IndyCar schedule is essentially the same as last year. Kevin ends the show recapping what they missed during the rest of the show. In this insightful second part of our interview with Brian Siegal, Regional Director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), we delve deeper into the troubling rise of anti-Semitic incidents across the United States. Brian shares his expertise on various instances of anti-Semitism encountered by recording artists, entertainers, and sports figures and emphasizes the urgent need for tailored responses to these issues. Our conversation also navigates the importance of proactive engagement with major professional associations for training on anti-Semitism, and the implementation of stringent measures, such as game cancellations and fan bans, to combat discrimination in sports, particularly in soccer. Brian sheds light on the vital resources and guides available on the AJC website that are designed for a wide array of sectors, from Congress to educators, in fighting anti-Semitism. Additionally, he discusses the national strategy developed by the White House to address this issue and how AJC assists institutions through training and resources. The alarming results of a study conducted on the state of anti-Semitism in America further underscore the imperatives discussed, painting a grim picture of insecurity among American Jews and spotlighting the challenges on college campuses. Brian and our host, Greg Goldfarb, make a strong call to action, advocating for societal-wide involvement and examining the mechanics behind AJC's comprehensive strategies.

Welcome to another episode of Category Visionaries — the show that explores GTM stories from tech's most innovative B2B founders. In today's episode, we're speaking with Jared Siegal, CEO and Founder of Aditude, a monetization operating system for publishers that has raised $15 Million in funding. Here are the most interesting points from our conversation: Jared's Unconventional Path to Tech: Originally aiming to become an architect, influenced by George Costanza from Seinfeld, Jared pivoted to business school, which led to a serendipitous meeting with the founders of Answers.com, setting his tech and ad industry journey in motion. The Birth of Attitude: Faced with a grueling five-and-a-half-hour daily commute, Jared made a spur-of-the-moment decision to quit his job, without a clear plan for the future. This bold move marked the beginning of Aditude, initially as a consultancy, before evolving into the tech company it is today. Transition from Consultancy to Tech Company: The turning point came when a VC firm's offer made Jared realize the potential to pivot Aditude into a SaaS model, leading him to hire his CTO and transition to offering tech-based solutions. Publisher-Centric Approach: Aditude's success is deeply rooted in its close relationships with publishers, treating them not just as clients but as part of the family, a philosophy that has been crucial to the company's growth and client loyalty. GTM and Marketing Strategies: Initially relying on word-of-mouth for growth, Aditude has recently expanded its marketing efforts, including hosting unique, engaging events for publishers, to build relationships and drive business. Future Vision for Aditude: Looking ahead, Jared outlines ambitious plans for Aditude, from aggressive growth and potential acquisitions to becoming the largest ad tech company globally, all while maintaining a founder-friendly, relationship-first approach to business.
Antisemitism is on the rise since the Hamas attack on Israel October 7, 2023. Whether online, on campuses, at small businesses, sporting events or entertainment, antisemitism has dramatically impacted Jews all across the globe. On this episode of the Cut to the Chase: Podcast, Brian Siegal-regional director of the American Jewish Committee's Miami and Broward office comes on the podcast to discuss the results of the American Jewish Committee's State of Antisemitism 2023 Report. The report, largely conducted of surveying both American Jews and the general population from October 5th to November 21, 2023 on various issues related to antisemitism. The results were disturbing to say the least, including a big jump of American Jews feeling less safe as Americans. Many students are literally terrified at some of the antisemitism taking place at Universities that goes unaddressed and uncorrected by the leaders of some of these universities. A sold out concert in Chicago at the House of Blues by Jewish reggae star Matisyahu was cancelled due to antisemitic threats. Horrific conduct at soccer matches has resulted in fans getting banned. Brian details how he and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) are combating antisemitism, wherever it takes place. The AJC, a non-partisan organization that has been around since the early 1900s, works in tandem with world leaders, diplomats, members of Congress, and intergroup and interreligious coalitions to advance shared priorities. As Brian explains, you too can help in various ways including by joining AJC's Task Force that is trying to coax Congress to implement the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism. Head to AJC.org/AntisemitismReport2023 to see the data from the fifth annual report. Check out AJC.org to explore the depth and history of the problem and the conflict in Israel, as well as resources to help combat antisemitism.
This podcast episode features Dr. Barbara Gunka and Dr. Siraj Mithoowani discussing their research on how bariatric surgery affects direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs).Bariatric surgery is increasingly used to fight obesity-related health problems. However, these patients often need DOACs to prevent blood clots due to surgery and obesity. The concern is that bariatric surgery might change how the body absorbs DOACs. This could make the medications less effective. There's limited data on long-term DOAC use after bariatric surgery.Dr. Gunka and Dr. Mithoowani's study investigated DOAC levels in patients after bariatric surgery. They looked at patients who received any type of bariatric surgery, took a DOAC for any reason, and had their DOAC levels measured afterwards.Tune in to hear the full discussion about the study's findings and their implications for DOAC use after bariatric surgery.Reference:Gunka, B., Mackenzie, D., Hughes, T., Sardo, L., Bayadinova, J., Siegal, D. In this episode of the Psychedelic Medicine Podcast, Erica Siegal, LCSW returns to discuss the important topic of supporting survivors of psychedelic abuse. Erica is a psychedelic-assisted psychotherapist, community organizer, and harm reduction advocate. In 2019 she founded NEST Harm Reduction, a California-based mental health and psychedelic support organization that provides psychotherapy, outreach, education, and integration. Erica also recently founded SHINE Collective to support survivors of psychedelic harm and abuse. In this conversation, Erica unpacks the complexities around various forms of abuse that exist in psychedelic spaces. One major form of abuse she identifies is financial coercion, where clients of psychedelic facilitators come to feel that one's spiritual access has a paywall, or that they are having to make major financial decisions while under altered states of consciousness. Erica also discusses problematic sexual and romantic dynamics that can arise, drawing a clear line in the sand that there should never be any form of sexual contact between psychedelic facilitators and clients. In closing, she shares more about the work SHINE Collective is doing to support survivors of psychedelic abuse, and discusses ways that listeners can help support this important work. In this episode: What inspired Erica to start SHINE Collective Issues of financial coercion in psychedelic spaces Different forms of spiritual abuse Ways identify the dynamics of spiritual abuse and guard against them Why Erica is skeptical of husband-wife teams of psychedelic therapists or facilitators Issues of sexual dynamics between psychedelics facilitators and clients Training and integration needed prior to skillfully and safely facilitating psychedelic experiences What SHINE Collective is doing to support survivors of psychedelic harm Quotes: “You also see people who are like ‘oh well if you want to keep working with me it's this price' and then all of a sudden the access to psychedelics—the spiritual access—now becomes ‘well I have to be paying this person $1,000 a month to just be on their mailing list because they are the person that is acting as the point between me and my spiritual access.'” [11:19] “If you're facilitating, you should have a consultation group of other facilitators in which you consistently welcome constructive feedback. … And be able to have case consultations, and be able to have reflection.” [26:43] “Psychedelic facilitators should not be having sex with people they are facilitating psychedelic ceremonies for.” [30:35] Links: NEST Harm Reduction website NEST Harm Reduction on Instagram NEST Harm Reduction on Twitter SHINE Collective website SHINE Collective on Instagram Erica on LinkedIn Erica on Instagram Previous episode: Avoiding the Traps of Psychedelic Self-Absorption with Adam Aronovich, PhD(c) Article by Jules Evans and Joseph Holcomb Adams: “Blurred Lines: improving the ethics of psychedelic fund-raising” The Emerald Podcast by Joshua Michael Schrei on Spotify Psychedelic Medicine Association Porangui

So, in this episode, we go to New York in the 1930's where Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and Bugsy Siegel took over the Mob in New York City, leading to the creation of a National Crime Syndicate, a Commission of Mob Bosses to settle disputes and for those times when disputes just will not settle, they created a group that came to be known as Murder, Incorporated to take care of those who broke the rules. This group committed hits (a term they created) all over the country and worked out of the back of a candy store in Brooklyn. We discuss this group, their rise and their fall, the indelible mark they made on popular culture. But before we discuss this, it is episode 160 so not only does Krysta have her corner, but we play catching up with Krysta in this special historical true crime episode of the Family Plot Podcast! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4670465/advertisement
In today's episode, our guest is Craig Siegal. He is a value-based and high-energy Global Keynote Speaker and also the co-creator of the CLS experience. His journey is captivating – from growing up without a strong sense of self-confidence to venturing into the world of Wall Street. While he achieved success in certain areas, he realized his heart's desires were unfulfilled. This realization led him to a unique reinvention journey, departing from his Wall Street path to a new world of service. Through this transformation, he not only built a remarkable personal brand but also sparked a movement embraced by countless individuals worldwide. Tune in to this incredible episode where we delve into Craig's journey and explore how you can adapt his reinvention formula to transform your own life. [2:24] Why should I listen to you? I have a genuine passion for nurturing relationships. In every interaction I engage in, I aim to leave on a positive and elevated note. This drive stems from the simple desire to raise the energy levels. If someone's at a nine, I want to help them reach a ten; if it's a six, I aim for seven; and even if they're already at ten, I'd love to see them hit fifteen. It brings me a sense of accomplishment to infuse each encounter with vitality, enthusiasm, and positive vibes. [3:54] What is the source of the energy that fuels your positivity? Before my transformation during the pandemic, I was entrenched in Wall Street for a solid 13 years. Specifically, in the few years leading up to the pandemic, I hit rock bottom. It was a time marked by a toxic relationship and the weight of my best friend and father's battle with cancer. While I had my own business and was making money, my definition of success back then was rather immature, and yes, money isn't the whole picture, as I've come to realize. I was utterly unhappy. This period of lockdown, though, I viewed as an unprecedented chance to reevaluate my life's direction. I recognized that I had a choice: to stick with the story I was living or to rewrite a new narrative. That's when I decided to put my faith in my purpose and passion, and the pieces began falling into place. People often comment that they've never seen someone build a personal brand so rapidly, and I'm truly humbled by that acknowledgment. But what I always emphasize is that it's not about time; it's about alignment. I've learned that having contrast, experiencing the wilderness of being lost and miserable, and then discovering alignment and purpose, can make all the difference. [9:03] Can you share a specific action you took that enabled you to authentically tap into that state? This holds immense power, and I'm genuinely grateful you brought it up. I've truly delved into the spiritual aspects, like aligning with different frequencies and vibrational energy. Yet, I need to harmonize this with the practical. I've noticed a trend where some individuals, while well-intentioned, can lean too heavily into the spiritual realm, disregarding strategy and tactics. Balancing both is crucial. It's an unspoken truth, and for me, that realization hit during the lockdown. I observed endless distractions like TV shows and negativity, and I made a conscious choice not to be swept away by that tide. Instead, I took immediate action. In my journey, money wasn't my priority at first. I recognized the potency of personal branding and embarked on content creation. I didn't even have a laptop for the initial eight months, yet I persevered. Through Facebook, I utilized lookalike audiences, virtually shaking hands with people, and extending my network. My sole purpose was to build a community, and the excitement I felt when people appreciated my content was unparalleled. [14:38] Did this audacious goal and vision that you're talking about, was it clear to you from the start, or did it evolve and take shape as you progress forward? I remember completing a run in Central Park and spontaneously giving birth to the CLS brand. It was a dormant idea I'd registered years before, activated on GoDaddy. Seated on a bench there, I shaped my brand. Returning home, I didn't possess a laptop. I flipped my phone around, recording a video selfie-style, outlining the brand's mission. This was the first time I truly felt clarity. The lockdown provided a stillness that allowed me to connect and filter out the noise. My aspiration wasn't to become the next Tony Robbins but to be the original Craig Segal, although Tony's work certainly influenced me. So, I envisioned a multi-lane highway, encompassing speaking, podcasting, coaching, book deals, and more. The goal was to become the "Apple" of personal development – reputable and high-quality. With the intention set, I aligned my actions accordingly. However, let me be transparent – I'm still in the process of figuring things out. While I'm quite accessible now and involved in intriguing opportunities, many are unexpected. [18:15] Could you share your journey, including the experience of your injury and the process of getting into running? I recall that period vividly. I was deep into training for the Chicago event, while also preparing for a speaking engagement that involved some of our mutual acquaintances. The incident that transpired was a result of playing football on the beach and sustaining an injury. Initially, it was misdiagnosed as a ligament issue. However, it turned out that there was a tumor on my foot, which was quite astonishing. This experience fostered a significant change in my mindset – a shift from viewing life as happening to us, to understanding that it actually happens to us. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the situation, I chose to stay optimistic, maintain my course, and navigate through the process. The tumor was removed, and it was a relief to discover that it was benign. Following the surgery, something extraordinary occurred – I decided to run the New York City Marathon, even though I had no physical training due to the short timeframe. This decision wasn't solely about me; it was an opportunity to inspire others and redirect the focus toward a greater purpose. Moreover, it allowed me to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, a cause that held immense significance due to my father's battle with cancer. Cancer touches countless lives, including my own, and being able to contribute to this cause was deeply meaningful. Reflecting on it now, I'm reminded of the conversations we had during that time and the resilience that emerged from the challenges faced. [19:45] Please tell us about your book and explain why it must be written and published at this moment in time. A book was indeed one of the lanes on the 10-lane highway I envisioned, but timing and patience have been essential since my life reinvention, not just a career shift. As you might know, I got engaged last summer, and this change has transformed every facet of my life. My approach to the book reflects my newfound patience. Initially, I wanted a major publisher rather than self-publishing, akin to having a movie studio support my work. The idea was to build the brand, not rush things. The pivotal moment arrived when I saw success among my peers, like our mutual friend Ed Mylett, who partnered with Wiley for his book. Publishers started approaching me, including Wiley, and the timing felt right. Negotiating terms led to a gratifying deal, and I saw this as the right moment to embark on the book journey. The significance of the book lies in its introduction of CLS to the world, but it's more than just about me. People are curious about my journey, but I want them to realize that if I can achieve this transformation, anyone can. This isn't just about me fulfilling an assignment; it's my calling. I aim to empower others to rediscover their potential. [24:00] When individuals find themselves in this uncertain space, who can they engage in their thoughts or converse with to navigate away from that juncture? Playing it safe is actually the riskiest move we can make. It's important to create a sense of urgency for everyone. Our time here is limited, and while we're having this human experience, we mustn't forget that it's finite, with an expiration date. So settling for a life out of alignment, a life not filled with love and passion, is simply not acceptable. I vividly recall the days when I would eagerly wait for the weekends, wishing work away. I've been through dark periods, where I tried escaping my reality with alcohol. But having connected with so many people, I've realized that this struggle to find deeper meaning is quite common. The moment you recognize you're destined for more than your current situation, that's a breakthrough. It means you're now aware of the possibilities beyond your current circumstances. What's crucial is gaining clarity on what that "more" entails and then taking action to steer your life in that direction. Success can come remarkably swiftly when you're aligned with your purpose. [27:45] Have you encountered instances during your journey of transitioning and reinventing yourself where others didn't offer their support for the change you were going through? Personally, I didn't face that. It's a rare occurrence. When I embarked on this journey, I felt a deep sense of excitement and clarity. I recognized that while I had succeeded in areas that weren't really aligned with my passions, like my past corporate job or running, which I enjoyed but wasn't naturally inclined towards, personal development was where my heart truly lay. For the first time, I committed to presenting myself genuinely, as the real Craig Segal, shedding my past tendencies of being a people pleaser. As I ventured into CLS and reinvented myself, I vowed to show up authentically, even if it didn't guarantee success. If I failed, at least it would be an honest failure. Interestingly, as I embraced my authentic self more and more, the world responded positively. However, some initially cheered me on but lost interest when things gained momentum. I don't dwell on it much, but I believe some people's reactions come from a place of seeing someone else pursue their dreams while they remain stagnant. [39:45] What promise did God make to the world when he created you? That I would showcase that reinvention is ready when you are. Key Quotes [27:50-27:54] Pain is what shapes you and moves you to the next level [37:43-37:46] When someone excels at something, they are showcasing what is possible. Growing up in New York as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, Nina Siegal had always wondered about the experience of her mother and maternal grandparents living in Europe during World War II. She had heard stories of the war as a child from her mother and grandfather, and read Anne Frank's diary in school, but the tales were crafted as moral lessons — to never waste food, to be grateful for all you receive, to hide your silver — while the details of the past went untold to make it easier to assimilate into American life. When Siegal moved to Amsterdam as an adult, those questions came up again, as did another horrifying one: Why did seventy five percent of the Dutch Jewish community perish in the war, while in other Western European countries the proportions were significantly lower? How did this square with the narratives of Dutch resistance she had heard so much about? Siegal decided to get into the archives and look at wartime diaries of Dutch citizens from all walks of life and eventually wrote “The Diary Keepers World War II In The Netherlands, as Written by the People Who Lived Through It.” Siegal joins us to discuss a part of history we haven't seen in quite this way before. We look at stories of a Dutch Nazi police detective, a Jewish journalist imprisoned at Westerbork transit camp, a grocery store owner who saved dozens of lives, and several others into a braided nonfictional narrative of the Nazi occupation and the Dutch Holocaust, as individuals experienced it day by day.
