The-Pitmaster-ED-Mitchell has been cooking whole-hog barbecue the traditional way since he was a teenager in Wilson, North Carolina. Ryan Mitchell, Ed's only son, serves as the business savvy brain behind his father's brand and we chat about the newly released cookbook ‘Ed Mitchell's Barbeque: Celebrating the Eastern North Carolina Whole Hog Barbeque of my African American Ancestors' published by Ecco. This book is a celebration of the history and tradition of whole-hog barbeque from the “most famous” pitmaster in North Carolina. Ed Mitchell's Barbeque is filled with delicious and essential recipes honed over decades. And, of course, there is the barbeque—mouth-watering baby back ribs, smoked pork chops, backyard brisket, and barbequed chicken—all paired with lively and warmly told stories from the Mitchell family. Ed Mitchell's Barbeque is rich with the history of Wilson, North Carolina, and yet promises to bring barbeque to the next level that you can see at ThePreserveBBQ by LMhospitality, and you can order their sauces TrueMadeFoods from Goldbelly as well. All the way from the Land Down Under we were thrilled to talk to the Grill-Sisters at 06:45 of episode. Bron Heussenstamm is on an amazing journey that has brought him to his current role as founder and CEO of the Bleav Network.  With an IMDb page mentioning the various bit parts he has had in a few movies as well as his contributions to shows while he was a professional surfer, he modestly tells us it is typical for anyone in Hollywood to have an IMDb page.  Bron's family business is clothing, which helps account for his business acumen as he builds an entertainment empire.  We felt it was appropriate that the man in charge welcome us to our new home, the Bleav Network.  With a growing network that numbers over 500 shows, Bron was glad to find time in a busy schedule to tell us our show includes two of his favorite subjects, baseball, and barbecue; he may have even said we are his favorite show, but we will let you listen and decide if we heard correctly. Baseball and BBQ Episode #150 Features Colin Cosell, New York Mets Public Address Announcer, and Yaffi L'Vova, Author and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Colin Cosell has a famous last name, but the career he has forged is not due to a name, but rather it is a result of hard work, perseverance, and in his case, proving that nice guys do in fact finish first.  He joined us one fine afternoon when Leonard was unable to make it, but Gary Mack, the host of the Mets Musings podcast as well as cohost of the Baseball Talk Radio Show podcast, filled in quite admirably.  Colin shares a few stories involving his grandfather, Howard Cosell.  He discusses being one half of the public address announcing team at Citifield and how he got the job.  Anyone who is interested in this type of career would be wise to listen to Colin as he talks about the three C's (be clear, be concise, be correct) which come directly from the late great New York Yankees PA announcer, Bob Shepard.  Colin is also the PA announcer for the NY Riptide of the National Lacrosse League, and in that role, he gets to talk the entire game and playfully antagonize the opposing team.  His departing words are to be a good person and be kind to others.  More information on Colin Cosell can be found here, https://colincosell.com/home-plate. Yaffi L'Vova is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who just happens to be Jeff's niece.  Yaffi has an incredible knowledge of food and how live-fire cooking is found in many cultures.  She has created Toddler Test Kitchen as a way to introduce children to unfamiliar foods in a safe way-a way that builds confidence and self-reliance while spending quality time with parents.  She has written many cookbooks, two of which are Fun with Food Toddler Cookbook:  Activities and Recipes to Play and Eat, Kid Chef Junior Every Day:  My First Easy Kids' Cookbook.  Yaffi did not have much of a briefing on what we were going to discuss, and yet she responded to every question with knowledgeable and interesting answers.  It is good to hear from a new voice who may not be a chef or a pitmaster but has a positive way of looking at food.  For more on Yaffi go to https://www.linkedin.com/in/yaffi-lvova-rdn  or you can find more here  https://feedingmykid.com/about-yaffi-lvova-registered-dietitian-nutritionist/ We recommend you go to BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces, Baseball BBQ, https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, Magnechef, https://magnechef.com/ for excellent and unique barbecue gloves, and Cutting Edge Firewood https://www.cuttingedgefirewood.com/ for high quality firewood and cooking wood. Baseball and BBQ Episode #147 Features Photographer, Ken Goodman, and Author, Neil R. Beller, Jr. Ken Goodman is a freelance photographer specializing in cookbooks, concerts, and food events. More than 50 cookbooks are filled with his mouth-watering photographs.  Many of the cookbooks featuring Ken's photos are from pitmasters and chefs we have featured on Baseball and BBQ.  There is no doctoring the food which Ken takes pictures of.  His skill with a camera is like that of a fine painter with a brush.  Prior to photography, Ken spent 20 great years in the restaurant industry as a classically trained chef with a culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University. He still satisfies his cooking vice as a long-time member of the competition barbecue team IQUE, past winners of the Jack Daniel's World Championship of Barbecue.  Visit https://www.kengoodmanphotography.com/home for more information. Neil R. Beller, Jr. is a wonderfully funny storyteller.  One perk of this podcast is being contacted by individuals we are not yet aware of, but are extremely glad they do.  Neil is one such individual. He came on with us to discuss two of his books, The Dish: Stories Spun From The Only Position Player Dumb Enough To Squat Beneath Strangers Who Swing Big Sticks Inches From His Head and Cooking Without A Conscience: Good Eating and Lots of Calories, which he co-authored with Gregory K. Baseball and BBQ Episode #146 Features Pat Geoghegan from Save the Game and Janice Smella from SmellaQue BBQ with Guest Co-host, Doug Scheiding of Rogue Cookers Pat Geoghegan loves baseball and wants to save and grow the game.  Pat is part of a group that is dedicated to keeping baseball relevant, as it needs to have today's youth involved in playing and watching baseball.  Baseball is losing fans, and that means fewer eyes on the game.  The website for Save the Game, https://savethegameus.com/ has a petition they need you to sign which will support their argument that baseball is becoming a niche sport and changes are necessary if the game is to continue and grow.  The website provides lots of reasons and proves why baseball is losing fans and offers suggestions on how to fix it.  Pat is extremely passionate and working on assembling an impressive group of individuals with the same goal of saving the game.  Enjoy our baseball discussion and then visit their website, and together we can, hopefully, Save the Game. Janice Smella is back for part two. She loves to cook and is quite good at it.  As head cook for the SmellaQue BBQ team, three-time National Canadian BBQ Team of the Year in 2018, 2019, and 2021 she has the opportunity to indulge her passion for smoking and cooking outdoors. Her website poses the question, "So, who is Janice anyways?" The short answer is, "I'm just a gal that likes to cook." The long answer is much more than that. In addition to being a champion pitmaster, she is also an inventor of delicious recipes which can be found on https://smellaque.com/ and https://bushcooking.com/contributor/janice-smella/ She is also a television star, our words, not hers, after successful appearances on season three of Food Network's show, Fire Masters. Tank Jackson raises hogs used by some of the finest restaurants and Tuffy Stone is an award-winning pitmaster, television personality, and restaurateur.  We were fortunate to meet them at Pig Beach BBQ in Queens, New York during the Jeff Michner Foundation BBQ Benefit.  Each interview is short but comes with their assurances they will join us again.  Although the conversations were brief, we had the opportunity to gather some barbecue tips and get a small glimpse into each of their lives and enjoy their delightful personalities, which were on display all day for the many people who paid to be there and experience each of the cooks' signature dishes. We are extremely fortunate to be joined by Ray Sheehan, founder of BBQ Buddha, known for its multi-award-winning, all-natural barbecue sauces and spice blends as well as being the author of two cookbooks, Award-Winning BBQ Sauces and How to Use Them:  The Secret Ingredient to Next-Level Smoking and Big Green Egg Basics from a Master Barbecuer.  Ray's next great adventure is the soon-to-be-opened restaurant, Ray's Roadside Kitchen in Cream Ridge, New Jersey.  Ray has an exciting Father's Day 2022 offer for our listeners as he announces an exclusive promo code to receive very nice savings on his sauces, rubs, and cookbooks which are found at https://bbqbuddha.com/ We recommend you go to baseballbbq.com https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces and Magnechef https://magnechef.com/ for excellent and unique barbecue gloves. The gang will introduce not only insights into the makings of cider and BBQ, but also guide us to fully draw out their flavors by pairing them together! The episode will start with Ray's gradual yet monumental growth in the BBQ world that led him to the top of the sauce chain today, in contrast to Peter's big swift shift to cider from the old wine palate that all started in Spain. Ray goes on to tell how he learned the fundamentals by helping local BBQ teams with the most menial tasks, before diving deeper into his book “Big Green Eggs Basics from a Master Barbecuer,” while Peter reminisces his discovery of the lost apple cider tradition that led him owning an apple orchard, providing the source materials for all his products. Sipping an old-world-style OEC pilsner, Ray will take us through his lists of BBQ-beer pairings, ranging from ribs with porters to hot wings with IPAs. When Alfredo is not tending to Magnechef business, he is working as a firefighter in Miami, Florida.  Anyone who participates in live-fire cooking knows the importance of protecting their hands, and these gloves will become an essential part of your cooking equipment.  At the Magnechef website, https://magnechef.com/ you will find the gloves, a few additional products, and testimonials from actual Magnechef  glove users.  Alfredo talks about his experience on the Home Shopping Network, and we discuss the possibility that Magnechef will one day become a brand synonymous with BBQ.                      We recommend you go to baseballbbq.com https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, and BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces. Erica Blaire is a lawyer, sommelier, pitmaster, and the season two winner of BBQ Brawl on the Food Network.  In part two, we learn how Erica defeated pitmasters with many more years of experience.  We discuss her specialty dish, Lomo al Trapo which translates to Beef in a Towel; the cooking process burns the towel, but what emerges from the its ashes is a delicious hunk of meat.  She speaks about winning a Preserve the Pit fellowship from Kingsford Charcoal.  We speak to Erica about the barbecue community and how everyone supports each other.  There is behind-the-scenes information on BBQ Brawl and what it was like to receive guidance from Bobby Flay as well as the other show mentors and judges.  Erica tells about the experience of filming a show during the pandemic, the competition, and how she became the Master of 'Cue.  At one point in the discussion, Erica jokes about growing up and needing to cook with whatever is in the fridge, even if it is Spam, Lucky Charms, and mustard.  After speaking with Erica, we are convinced the resultant dish would be delicious.          Jeff shares a rant in between the two interviews, but Leonard cannot stop himself from chiming in and ranting along. We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" by the musician, Dave Dresser, and the poet, Shel Krakofsky. Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and Erica Blaire, Winner of BBQ Brawl, Season 2 join us on episode 130. Bob Kendrick is president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, https://nlbm.com/ and was our first podcast guest.  We are so glad to have this remarkable storyteller back for a third visit.  With so much to discuss we divided our conversation into two parts.  In part one, we discuss April 15, 1947, the date that Jackie Robinson broke the Major League Baseball color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers.  We also talk about the greatness of Hank Aaron and the hellacious treatment, including numerous death threats, Aaron was forced to endure as he was close to breaking the famous career home runs record of 714 set 33 years prior by Babe Ruth.  Aaron breaking the record was an incredible accomplishment, but it could have turned into a tragedy, and Bob explains it all.  We also speak about Bob's amazing podcast, Black Diamonds, and what is coming up in the new season. Erica Blaire is a lawyer, sommelier, pitmaster, and the season two winner of BBQ Brawl on the Food Network.  This is another extremely entertaining interview we divided into two parts.  We have the feeling there is very little Erica cannot do when she makes the decision to try.  She tells us her origin story, which includes trying to help her father with an item on his post-retirement bucket list and this  leads to a barbecue class with famed pitmaster, Harry Soo.  Erica appears to do nothing half-assed.  With her, it is 100% or nothing at all.  She was a very good lawyer, a wonderful sommelier, and a great pitmaster; talented enough to beat some very experienced and talented competition in BBQ Brawl, season two, and become the Master of 'Cue.  Being fearless bodes her well, as she uses her boundless energy and spirit to tackle the numerous tasks she hopes to accomplish.  She talks about all of this, including a lot of her BBQ Brawl experience. Episode 129 is overflowing with guests as we are joined by Michael Massiglia known as Messy Mike, owner of Messy Mike's Barbecue & Catering, Shane McBride, and Matt Abdoo from Pig Beach BBQ talking about an important fundraiser,  and David Krell, noted baseball author. Michael Massiglia aka Messy Mike was an electrician for many years and, by his own admission, he was an ok one, but not great and certainly not happy in his chosen career field.  The story Messy Mike tells of how barbecue became his passion and lead him to his new career as the owner of a food truck/catering company called Messy Mike's Barbecue & Catering will make you question whether you heard things correctly.  It amazed and intrigued us as well, and yes you heard him right.  He did take his wedding money and purchased a very expensive smoker without having any idea what he was doing.  From there the story gets crazier.  His food truck is located at 161 Rockingham Road, Derry, NH, and is open from Thursday to Sunday during the hours of 11:00 am to 3:00 pm or until they are sold out.  Tell Messy Mike the folks at Baseball and BBQ sent you. Shane McBride and Matt Abdoo from Pig Beach BBQ are part of the wonderfully generous barbecue community.  They join us to discuss the Jeff Michner BBQ Benefit taking place at Pig Beach,  35 - 37 36th Street, Queens, NY 11106 on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Jeff Michner suddenly passed away in the spring of 2018 at the age of 36, leaving behind his wife Sara, and his 16-month-old daughter Hayes. A foundation was created in Jeff's honor to keep his memory alive. The organization embraces the things he loved best: family, friends, and great food. The Jeff Michner Foundation creates scholarships for culinary students, supporting families managing loss and grief.  The Jeff Michner BBQ Benefit celebrates Jeff with an epic barbecue featuring some of the country's greatest pitmasters.  This event will be a dine-around, where each participating Pitmaster will prepare a tasting portion of their dish for the guest to sample.  Go to https://www.pigbeachnyc.com for more information, and we hope to see you there. David Krell is an author and baseball historian.  His latest work is 1962:  Baseball and America in the Time of JFK.  It is a fascinating look at a year when two new baseball franchises, the New York Mets and the Houston Colt .45s had their first seasons and NASA was launching men into space.  It was an extraordinary year in baseball, culture, and politics.  According to David, the book originally began with the idea of exploring the two new baseball teams, and it morphed into an amazing look at history which included baseball, but also encompassed so much more.  David did an extreme amount of research to give us a feel for what life in America was like in 1962.  As we like to say, he did the "heavy lifting" which benefits us immensely and we are grateful he did.  David made us feel as if we had taken a time machine back to 1962 as we enjoyed every month of the year from cover to cover. Sandy Alderson, New York Mets team president and Ray Sheehan, BBQ Buddha founder and cookbook author are exceptional and because of them, episode 128 is a Baseball and BBQ show you will not soon forget. Sandy Alderson is the New York Mets team president and previously served as the New York Mets general manager, putting together the team that played in the 2015 World Series.  Prior to that he enjoyed successful tenures as general manager for the Oakland Athletics and the chief executive officer for the San Diego Padres.  After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1969, Sandy joined the United States Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in Vietnam.  When his military service ended he attended Harvard Law School, became a lawyer, joined a law firm, and not more than five years later he followed one of the law firm's partners to the Oakland Athletics front office.  Sandy talks about what makes a good general manager,  being in the 1989 World Series when a powerful earthquake struck, and winning with a "small market" team.  Sandy also discusses what makes a good manager and baseball as it has changed during his time in the game.  After listening to Sandy you will have a much better appreciation for what it takes to run a Major League Baseball franchise and the special care which he gives to the many tasks he must handle.  Being curious drives Sandy and he says it has played a major part in his career, a career that has been absolutely incredible.         Ray Sheehan is the founder of BBQ Buddha, a multi-award winning, all natural barbecue sauce and spice blend company.  Ray is also the award-winning cookbook author of Award-Winning BBQ Sauces and How to Use Them:  The Secret Ingredient to Next-Level Smoking  and his newest book is Big Green Egg Basics from a Master Barbecuer.  We first met Ray in 2019 at the Atlantic City BBQ Expo and since then he has made numerous Baseball and BBQ show appearances.   Ray loves barbecue and has an immense wealth of knowledge which he is willing to share with anyone willing to listen.  In addition to running a sauce company and writing cookbooks, he is also a monthly contributor to Barbecue News Magazine.  Ray discusses his cooking experience, how he comes up with the wonderful recipes, and many of the things you never knew went into putting together a cookbook.  More about Ray and purchasing his wonderful sauces, rubs, and books can be found at https://bbqbuddha.com/ With baseball opening day comes tons of predictions and Jeff calls himself a very good guesser as he offers his picks for the season. Baseball and BBQ Episode #127 features former MLB pitcher, Steve Trachsel and special guest co-host/champion pitmaster, Doug Scheiding.  Trachsel enjoys talking baseball, but he seems to really love talking about barbecue and wine.  Great baseball and barbecue talk are found here. Steve Trachsel was a Major League pitcher for 16 years.  Known primarily for his time with the Chicago Cubs and the New York Mets, he also played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Baltimore Orioles.  His baseball journey includes being a once-proud member of the Long Beach State Dirtbags and playing in the College World Series.  Steve hit three career home runs and his first was hit off of Curt Schilling.  He possessed an incredible ability to remain on the field and give his teams well-pitched innings, usually throwing more than 200 per year.  His bobblehead is rare, and it is one of the most sought after at the New York Mets Fantasy Camp.  16 years in the Major Leagues are bound to produce some memorable moments and excellent stories, and Steve has tons of them, including giving up Mark McGwire's record-breaking 62nd home run in 1998 and his feelings on Sammy Sosa and his other teammates reactions.  Steve was once nicknamed the "Human Rain Delay" and he discusses how it bothered him at first, but later embraced it and now uses it to his advantage.  Even how he chose his uniform number is a good story.  A lover of barbecue and wine (he even has a wonderful story about visiting Tom Seaver's California Vineyard), Steve is thrilled to talk with Doug and pepper him with lots of really good barbecue talk and some very good questions.         We recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, https://fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, and BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces. Episode 126 features Maybelle Blair and Shirley Burkovich, former All American Girls Professional Baseball League players who inspired the movie, A League of Their Own and Amy Mills, known as the heiress of barbecue Maybelle Blair and Shirley Burkovich are women who loved playing baseball, were great at it, and were excited to have the opportunity to make money doing it.  If you are a fan of the movie, A League of Their Own which reintroduced America to the real-life All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) then you will enjoy listening to their wonderful stories.  Ask Maybelle how she is and she will say, "Pretty good for this old gal, and it is a good day when you wake up on this side of the grass."  Shirley played for three AAGPBL teams from 1949-1951, one of which is the famous Rockford Peaches.  Maybelle served as inspiration for the character, Mae Mordabito aka All the Way Mae played in the film by Madonna.  Ask Maybelle how much Madonna's character resembled her, and she will say not that much, but then Shirley pipes in affirming that the characterization fit Maybelle extremely well.  It is that back and forth good-natured ribbing that is so enjoyable and makes one appreciate the special bond they share.  At 95 and 89 years of age, they are not even close to letting up from achieving their dream of raising money for a women's baseball museum to be built in Rockford, Illinois.  Go to https://www.internationalwomensbaseballcenter.org/donate/ to make a donation or to learn more.  Amy Mills is known as a barbecue heiress as she is the daughter of champion pitmaster and Barbecue Hall of Fame inductee, Mike Mills, who was affectionately known as "The Legend."  Getting to everything was impossible, but we tried to at least scratch the surface with a conversation that included stories on the books she co-authored with her dad, including James Beard Foundation award-nominated and National Barbecue Association Award of Excellence winner, Peace, Love, and Barbecue and the book, Praise the Lard.  We talked about her incredible presentation at The Welcome Conference, which is labeled on YouTube as Amy Mills-Recognizing Right.  Amy explained the three principles which apply to her business, which include the two 17th Street Barbecue restaurants and Oncue Consulting:  (1) Generosity is a recipe for success.  (2) Barbecue is a culture, not a concept.  (3) Home is the most excellent place of all.  Amy did not always want to be in the family business, but she came back, is happy she did and credits a yellow post-it note for the push.  There is even a story involving George Wendt who played Norm on the TV show Cheers. Small Bites on Wildfire Radio returns this Sunday, July 25th at 635pm EST with a fantastic lineup! #SmallBitesRadio has been named #14 out of the Top 30 Best Hospitality Shows on the planet for 2020 and 2021 as well as being named #23 Top Philadelphia Lifestyle Influencer in 2021. With the show having a #BBQ theme, who better to be special co-host this week than pitmaster Timothy Monk of MONKMAN'S BBQ & EGG ROLLS known for his legendary egg rolls and delicious homemade Bar-B-Que. He had a passion and hobby for barbecuing that with hard work and recipe development has turned a dream into a loyal local cult following. People anxiously wait for his pop-up events to be announced and as soon as they are they always sell-out in mere hours. We will kick things off talking to Bill Gillespie a bestselling author and the founder of Smokin' Hoggz BBQ an award-winning barbecue team that has claimed top prize in the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational BBQ and the American Royal Association Invitational, and has won hundreds of other barbecue awards. His new book ‘Hot and Fast BBQ on Your Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker' teaches grillers how to get amazing BBQ as fast as possible on their Weber Smokey Mountain. The book starts by teaching readers the basics of getting started with a Weber Smokey Mountain including components of the grill itself, differences between the size options, and the most important ingredients for smoking success (charcoal, smoke wood, brines, marinades, etc.) to ensure they have the groundwork laid out before hopping into one of Bill's award-winning recipes. Then Chris Sussman, a.k.a. The BBQ Buddha will join us. He has cooked on award-winning BBQ competition teams such as EGGcellent Eats and Dizzy Pig, and is a member of the Big Green Egg Pro Team. In Chris's cookbook, ‘The Four Fundamentals of Smoking' it teaches readers about the four fundamental principles that have the most impact on whether the meat comes out tasting succulent, tender and pleasantly smokey, or dry, rubbery and bland. Chris demystifies concepts like controlling air flow and humidity to perfectly capture smoke flavor in food, as well as maintaining the ideal BBQ zone temperature, and the secrets to knowing when a cook is complete, which go beyond internal temperature. Chris gives readers a sturdy foundation of knowledge, then shares foolproof recipes demonstrating these techniques in action with additional tips, so their BBQ comes out perfectly tender with incredible smoky flavor every time. Last, but certainly not least we'll chat with Adam McKenzie the creator of This Jew Can Que. His debut cookbook, ‘Weeknight Smoking on Your Traeger', shows people that smoking and grilling have never been easier thanks to his recipes that take advantage of the hands-off, fast-cooking features of the popular Traeger Grills and other wood pellet grills so that grilling doesn't have to be a hobby reserved for the weekend. It's something you can easily include in your busy life for a weeknight meal, thanks to Adam's recipes that take advantage of the hands-off, fast-cooking features of the popular Traeger grill and other wood pellet grills. Also Adam has collaborated with nationally recognized brands, namely Traeger® Wood Fired Grills as well as Snake River Farms, Head Country Bar-B-Que and more as well he has partnered with Spiceology to create a line of seasoning blends. You say you STILL NEED MORE!!! Don't forget we still have our regular weekly segments from author, Courier-Post nightlife correspondent, The Peasant Wife contributor, and The New York Times recognized blogger John Howard-Fusco for foodie news of the week, Chef Barbie Marshall who is a Chef Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen Season 10 finalist and has appeared on Season 17 of FOX Hell's Kitchen #AllStars as well named Pennsylvania's most influential chef by Cooking Light will delight us with her observation of the week, highly acclaimed and respected Vegan Chef Christina Martin will delight with her ‘Healthy Bite' of week giving nourishing and wholesome advice, and a joke of the week from legendary joke teller Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling of The Howard Stern Show fame. Sign up for the free Quickstart Competition Barbecue Tips Interview Series https://www.grillmasteruniversity.com/quickstart We interviewed 10 more competition barbecue teams at the Memphis in May World Championship of Barbecue Competition. Each team offers their top advice and tips for mastering your smoker. Whether you’re a backyard cook or interested in entering the competition circuit you’ll love these behind the scenes interviews. As we sat down with Chris Sussman from Louisville, Kentucky (otherwise known as the BBQ Buddha), we were reminded of something he always says: Grill by feel. Sussman’s whole philosophy is about learning how to cook, grill, or smoke in any environment. Once you really zone in and get into making great BBQ, you’ll be able to know when your food is finished just by sight and touch; no timers or thermometers necessary. Forget about the constraints of timers and temperatures and learn to trust yourself. Make food from scratch – without recipes even – by balancing your five taste sensations: look, touch, smell, feel, and (most importantly) taste your food to know when it’s finished cooking and ready to eat.

We are thrilled to welcome Chef Devin Alexander. Chef Devin Alexander is joining us to talk about her new cookbook “You Can Have It!: More Than 125 Decadent Diabetes-Friendly Recipes” from American Diabetes Association. From the New York Times bestselling author of the Biggest Loser Cookbook series, an indulgent comfort cookbook filled with recipes for anyone who wants to be healthy, whether they have diabetes or not! Whether you're managing diabetes, want to lose weight, or just plain want to be fit while eating insanely scrumptious meals, weight-loss expert Devin Alexander is here to assure you, “You Can Have It!” The celebrity chef on the hit series, The Biggest Loser, and the author of the New York Times bestselling The Biggest Loser Cookbook series and The Most Decadent Diet Ever!, Devin Alexander, has created a collection of easy diabetes-friendly recipes that seem simply too good, and too decadent, to be healthy. Using her chef secrets, tips, and techniques that helped contestants on the hit show lose weight and that wowed customers in her restaurants, Devin Alexander has crafted more than 125 easy diabetes-friendly recipes that bust the myth that eating well means giving up the comfort foods you love. With beautiful photographs, doable tips, simple techniques, affordable ingredients, and mouthwatering meals, this is the cookbook every person who cares about their health (whether they have diabetes or not!) will want to own. Inside you'll find hundreds of decadent and simple-to-prepare dishes. Even if you're managing diabetes, heart health, or trying to lose weight, no type of meal is "off limits" and no favorite is forbidden. With small tweaks and the right approach, Devin is here to show that, yes, You Can Have It! Devin has shared her Devinly Decadent secrets as the host of Healthy Decadence on Discovery Life Channel and Fit Tv from 2007-2011, as Host of “America's Chefs on Tour” on PBS Food and through frequent appearances on Today Show, Good Morning America, The Biggest Loser, Dr. Oz, Access Hollywood Live, The Doctors, Dr. Drew, The View, OMG Insider, Dr. Phil, FOX, CNN, HGTV, USA, Style Network and others as well as through over 500 magazine features including Prevention, Women's Health, Men's Health and Shape.
