My husband Tim joins me for this honest, refreshing, and hope-filled conversation with Brian and Emilie McCormack. Together they lead Breakaway Ministries along with their 5 kids out of College Station. Whether you're an Aggie or just want to hear some incredible news of what's going on at one of the biggest college campuses in the US, the McCormacks give us a unique perspective of revival and discipleship taking place at Texas A & M. This one hits close to home for us, and today you'll hear a little about how this ministry has had a direct impact on our family. Today we pick up with Brian sharing the history and timeline of how Breakaway got started…Social media handle: @brianmccormack, @emiliemccormack, @breakawaymin Breakaway MinistriesShow Notes/Quotes:“When we're asked, 'What do we see?' The answer's always the same, it's just that we see hunger. There's a wild hunger among this generation and among college students right now.” “The opportunity is incredible, but the need and the urgency is just as big.”“And she said - ‘I don't know what happened, but I encountered God, and something in me changed.'”“It's God who's doing the heavy lifting, we just get to plant the seeds and then, man, sometimes we get to see the fruit.”“Statistically most people are deciding are they in or are they out when it comes to following Jesus in this 18-24 year old range.” “When I tell a couple thousand 20-year-olds, 'You are God's primary delivery mechanism for the grace and hope and healing of God in this day and age and there is no plan B', they kinda straighten up and are like, ‘Ok, what are we gonna do about that?'”“Two words come to mind - questions, and confession.” “I think the best thing a man can do is give his son a category for a man who is fully known by a few other men, and who are seeking God together.”Reflections on seminary, “I feel more certain that Jesus is the hope of the world, and I feel like I know less than I started.”“You have to have the living Word pouring into you.”“It's not just about information, but rather about transformation, and that transformation happens in God's nearness…proximity is the remedy.”
What happens when a luxury resort puts people at the heart of everything they do? In this eye-opening conversation with Brian Montgomery of Sirenian Bay Resorts and Villas, we explore how true hospitality extends far beyond guest experiences to transform entire communities.Montgomery reveals the extraordinary investments Sirenian Bay makes in its staff—from providing air-conditioned housing (unheard of in the industry) to offering free meals prepared by dedicated cooks. "We're not going to have somebody stay in something that we would not stay in," he explains, highlighting how this commitment to employee welfare directly translates to the authentic warmth guests experience. The resort's dedication to craftsmanship shines through its in-house woodshop, where seven skilled carpenters create everything from custom wedding arches to the hand-carved doors adorning each villa. Each room is named after local wildlife, with intentionally curated views and experiences that showcase Belize's natural beauty at every turn. Most remarkable is Montgomery's leadership program, providing leadership training and mentorship to local youth in Seine Bight, while introducing them to potential career paths. His cancer journey profoundly shaped this giving philosophy: "Cancer taught me it's not about me anymore," he shares with raw honesty. From repurposing an old satellite dish as welcome signs to naming Snooty's Bar after a beloved manatee, every detail at Sirenian Bay tells a story—one of connection, purpose, and the understanding that luxury can coexist with profound community impact. Experience the magic for yourself at this Belizean paradise where "creating a return guest on our first interaction" isn't just a mission statement—it's woven into the fabric of everything they do.Thanks for your ongoing support!http://paypal.me/TheROAMiesAlexa and RoryThe ROAMiesPlease subscribe, rate and share our podcast! Since his last appearance in January 2021, Alain's career has soared, with standout roles in The Cleaning Lady, Power IV, and most recently Ballard. But here's the twist: despite this impressive success, Alain candidly admits to quitting acting multiple times a year—sometimes even right before a premiere. Alain offers invaluable insight into his creative process. He shares his technical self-tape approach—including the unexpected power of the cold read—and how embracing imperfection can create audition magic. If you've ever wondered what co-hosting really looks like — the wins, the hard lessons, and everything in between — this is the episode for you. I'm pulling back the curtain on how we've grown our boutique co-hosting business, the boundaries we've had to draw, and the challenges that have shaped the way we operate today. Here's what I cover in this episode: The difference between co-hosting and traditional property management Why slow growth with the right properties is the goal What I look for in new properties (and red flags I now avoid) The absolute hardest part of this business (cleaning, anyone?) Why documenting SOPs is non-negotiable — and how I finally got mine together The surprising way I landed some of our best clients What new co-hosts must get clear on before saying yes to anyone If you're thinking about stepping into the co-hosting world — or already in it and feeling the weight of it all — you're not alone. What really happens when you say yes to something that feels big, scary, and totally out of your comfort zone? In this episode, I'm joined by Kim and Penny, two amazing humans who went all in on getting certified as Time Coaches, even though their brains were telling them they weren't ready, didn't have time, or shouldn't invest in themselves. They share what it was like to juggle parenting, fear, money wobbles, and imposter syndrome AND how joining the program sparked way more than just a new qualification. We're talking identity shifts, business wins, braver decisions, deeper self-trust, and even better conversations at home. We get into: – Why doing it scared is kind of the whole point – What changed in how they lead, coach, and show up in real life – The difference between forcing yourself to do more vs creating from a place of enough-ness – And how powerful it is to stop waiting for permission and just go for it This one's for you if you've ever thought: Who am I to do this? or Maybe I'll wait until I have more time. Spoiler: You don't need more time. You just need a little bit of courage. Send us a textEver wondered why some shed companies break through revenue plateaus while others stay stuck? In this revealing episode, the Shed Geek Marketing team pulls back the curtain on what truly works for growing shed businesses, especially those in the crucial $7-20 million revenue range. We dive deep into why this particular revenue bracket represents the "sweet spot" for marketing partnerships - these companies have mastered their operations but need specialized marketing scaffolding to reach the next level. The conversation candidly addresses one of the industry's most contentious issues: data ownership. "You own everything when you work with us," we emphasize, contrasting this approach with unfortunate industry practices where companies hold client data hostage after relationships end.The team explores how effective marketing extends far beyond websites and social media, requiring seamless integration with your entire business ecosystem - from CRMs and POS systems to 3D configurators and sales processes. For manufacturers, we challenge traditional thinking about expansion: "Your digital storefront - how many lots do you have? Because you could put the same money into your digital storefront getting it started... is it any more expensive than a new lot? Certainly not."Looking toward the future, we examine how societal shifts toward tiny homes, ADUs, and sustainable living create expanding opportunities across the industry. "The next 50 years of the shed industry is not a zero-sum game," we note, highlighting how forward-thinking businesses should position themselves to capture disproportionate growth.Ready to transform how you think about marketing your shed business? For years he tormented IU fans with his sarcastic wit and blunt honesty as a national recruiting analyst for 247. But no one could question his knowledge, connections or insight. Then, he crossed the line from analyst to become the director of recruiting for Micah Shrewsberry at Penn State before following Micah to Notre Dame for the last two years. Today's guest is none other than BRIAN SNOW.In this week's episode Brian gives us his perspective on the current state of college basketball in the world of revenue sharing and the changing world of NIL. Brian breaks down which jobs might now be the best in the country and we talk about Indiana's place in the ever-changing landscape.Brian breaks down what it was like to recruit against Indiana and what the overall perception is of the Indiana program while also getting into specifics on why it just did not work with Archie and Woody and why it very well could with new head coach Darian DeVries. Brian is a guy who does not beat around the bush and calls it like he sees it. Some of which is VERY positive for IU and its future while he also brings up some areas of potential concern. It is a wide-ranging conversation that covers a lot of ground with a guy who has the unique experience of being a national analyst and also a guy who was in the trenches recruiting for a power 4 school. Sure, we love to bust his chops, but can't argue with the man's knowledge! Today, we're joined by the incredibly talented Jessica Rothe, best known for her breakout role in Happy Death Day and its sequel, her scene-stealing turn in La La Land, and her lead in the musical remake Valley Girl. In this episode, Jessica shares the raw, real stories from her journey—like being told early on to “go home, curl your hair, put on makeup, and come back” for a CW medical show audition—and how moments like that shaped her understanding of what it means to present a “film version” of yourself. She opens up about the transition from stage to screen, the steep learning curve of self-tapes, and how she refined her naturally expressive style for the subtleties of the camera. With wisdom on navigating nerves, building relationships in the room, and playing the long game in an often-political industry, this conversation is packed with honesty, humor, and heart. In this episode of Geek Freaks, Frank sits down with writer and director Pascal Bergamin to explore his new film Portraits of Dangerous Women. The conversation dives into how a photo book of unconventional women inspired the film's unique tone, why Bergamin values emotional authenticity over polish, and the realities of getting an indie film released internationally. From the challenges of casting to the passion that drives low-budget filmmaking, this episode is a masterclass in storytelling with heart. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00 Getting settled and pronunciation check 06:24 Introduction to Pascal Bergamin and his film 07:00 What Portraits of Dangerous Women is really about 08:19 How a photo book sparked the idea 10:13 Humor, grief, and the tone of the story 12:54 Redefining what it means to be "dangerous" 14:23 The idea of a "quiet refusal to perform" 17:10 Assembling a standout cast on a tight budget 20:13 Building trust on set with time and space 23:00 The dog scene that brings everything together 25:17 Creating a world that's familiar but slightly surreal 26:55 How UK distribution led to the North American release 29:45 Adapting marketing strategies between countries 31:02 What Bergamin's learned from indie filmmaking 36:51 What's next after Portraits 38:45 Where to watch the film Key Takeaways: The film was inspired by a collection of amateur photos showing women being bold and mischievous, not criminal. Portraits of Dangerous Women blends humor, drama, and vulnerability to explore unexpected companionship. The title “dangerous” refers to unpredictability and spontaneity, not threat or violence. Casting was done without auditions, relying instead on careful collaboration and trust. With a small crew and limited resources, the film prioritized a relaxed and collaborative environment on set. Pascal continues to be deeply involved in the film's distribution and promotion, reflecting the hands-on nature of independent filmmaking. Quotes: “You don't have enough time to be nervous.” “They're not trying to be heroes. They're reacting to life as it comes.” “The danger is in not knowing what these women will do next.” “We didn't have trailers. We had trust.” Call to Action: Check out Portraits of Dangerous Women, available now in the U.S. and Canada starting July 10th. Find it on Amazon and other platforms—links in the description. The EU opted to take the second route. While speaking with reporters, von der Leyen said the suspension would extend until early August while the EU continues to “prepare further countermeasures” so it is “fully prepared.” The EU was also preparing a second package of countermeasures since May that would target roughly $84.2 billion of U.S. goods, but the final list requires approval by all EU member states and has not yet been made public.
