Running!   When you run (Sprint) you burn more calories per second than you do in any other possible human activity! There is nothing as intense as running (sprinting) when it comes to calories per second. By acclimating our body to running (sprinting) we can now easily reach new heights of intensities in our chosen sport. Simply practicing your sport of choice will never allow you to achieve your highest potential in that sport! This is a well known secret of elite trainers: by sprinting regularly you will quickly improve your tolerance to increased levels intensity, your grappling/MMA sessions will seem tame in comparison. Still, it is crucial however that your running routine not take away from precious mat time. This is why Coach Zahabi has included a PDF Guide with sample workouts and details on exactly how to incorporate a running program for combat athletes.   Most important of all, you will learn proper running technique that will allow you to decrease recovery time, decrease inflammation and eliminate injury. Different cultures conduct military training and education in very different ways. The Israeli Defence Force might be the gold standard for a mantra of ‘Train Hard, Fight Easy': the US Navy during the interwar period experimented with carrier air power to such an extent that it had a mature operating model by the 1940s (one that was instrumental in the outcome of WWII). This culture is not only evident in live military exercises, it is also reinforced by the behaviours during them. In this conversation with Professor Pete Mansoor, the importance of flexibility and adaptability of successful military forces comes to the fore, often developed - to a large extent – during the freeplay periods of live exercises. Simulation certainly has a place, but there are few signs that it can replace high tempo combined arms training events with a decent adversary force.

Listen in as we discuss leadership through the lens of Force Design 2030 as it continues to take shape and what this means for the future of the Marine Corps. Personally, I believe changing the Marine Corps to meet our pacing threats is imperative, but others think differently. So, we're addressing both sides of the debate.  The U.S. Marine Corps' updated Force Design 2030 plans continue to make investments in lethality, but with a particular emphasis on loitering munitions and other technology that can add range and precision to what the infantry and artillery communities use today. According to the U.S. Marine Corps, the work of redesigning the Marine Corps is threat informed, concept based, and accountable to a campaign of learning. Strategic guidance calls for a Marine Corps able to survive and thrive inside contested spaces. Developed concepts are tested through experimentation and wargaming. Integrated planning teams study and analyze the concepts for validation and refinement. You won't want to miss Heckl's perspectives on Force Design 2030, especially if you're a critic, as well as the stories and insights from the leaders and experiences that have shaped him into the 3-star Marine officer and aviator he is today. He sheds light on what he's learned from leadership failures, how young leaders can set the conditions for leadership success, and why you need to embrace the role of risk in military leadership. We also highlight the importance of humility, taking responsibility for your mistakes, building off-ramps in your training missions, and so much more.Episode Timeline/Key Highlights:[01:52] Introducing Lieutenant General Karsten S. Against the backdrop of a Russian military buildup and a deepening rift between Russia and Western countries, Ukrainians have begun to make serious preparations for an intensified war. For many, this means joining the Territorial Defense Forces -- the country's volunteer military reserve that was recently incorporated into the armed forces. In Kyiv, instructors with military experience give basic combat training to civilians wielding wooden replicas of Kalashnikov rifles. In Kharkiv, Ukrainian nationalists rehearse maneuvers at abandoned construction sites. Patriotic Ukrainian media outlets hold up these volunteers as heroes -- meanwhile, they're painted as anti-heroes in Russian state propaganda. * Episode 73 is a grab bag of optional rules! * Piecemeal Armor * First appeared in the first edition book Denizens Volume 2 * Attempt to simulate making a full suit out of fragments of different types of armor for style purposes. * Could be used in relation to using hit locations, but that’s not an aspect of the standard Earthdawn rules. * Chain Casting * Developed in ED4 to offer guidelines for magicians keeping spells active over multiple castings or extended durations. * Makes some assumptions to limit rolling dice and interfering with gameplay flow. * Combat Training for mounts and animal companions. * Considered a certain number of “trick” slots from Animal Training. * Based on base creature tier plus ranks of Willful. * Raising “free” talent ranks. * Way of reflecting more of the setting realities into the mechanics. * ED4 makes some assumptions and trades simulation in favor of reducing the perception of “wasting” Legend Points. * Talent Crisis * Mechanical teeth for a roleplaying concept introduced in ED1 The Adept’s Way. * If an adept does not behave in line with their philosophical taboos and strictures, the magic is weaker or may not work at all. * Should not be used as a cudgel by GMs to enforce “one true way” Discipline philosophies. * Training Pledges and Ghost Masters * Alternate advancement method from simply paying silver to a trainer. * More mystical, leans into idea of a Discipline as a mystery cult or tradition passed from master to student through the generations. * Possible stronger role-playing bond with a long-term NPC, other story potential. * Potential drawbacks of the oath and its components. * Ghost Master ritual is similar just uses a long-dead master of the Discipline. * Often used for higher tier–Warden and Master–advancement. * Very flavorful and appropriate for the setting but has its weaknesses. * Discussion of change for Ghost Master Ritual from talent to knack for ED4. * Dragons are planned for Episode 75! Conflict erupted in the newly designated Snake River Birds of Prey NCA as land managers and recreational users were forced to deal with the presence of an active military training area within the conservation area. Although this National Guard training area had been established in the 1950s, the creation of the NCA presented a series of challenges for those tasked with managing this newly created protected area. Although many of these challenges remain, the story of the Snake River Birds of Prey NCA over the past 26 years has been one of collaboration and co-management between the Bureau of Land Management and the National Guard.

How to kidnap Marines, according to combat training role player

In this episode of the Mandatory Fun podcast, Blake speaks with Kelvin Garvanne about his life as an Arabic/Iraqi role player who took training U.S. ground troops to a whole new level — even conducting mock kidnapping scenarios. During these training drills, Marines are "killed" (taken out of play for a period of time) or held hostage by the role players if they're caught off on their own. "We kidnapped Marines," Mr. Garvanne explains. "One of the things we wanted to do in real time was capture a Marine." Before U.S. forces deploy to a foreign region like Afghanistan, pre-deployment training is conducted in environments similar to the terrain in which they'll be exposed. Since the landscape and elevation of 29 Palms almost mirrors that of Afghanistan, Marines are sent there to partake in Mohave Viper — an intense, five-week long training course. The Marines live there for the scenarios and receive cultural training from experts — immersing themselves in war games against native speaking role players for an all-out showdown. These highly supervised training scenarios are considered the best exercises troops can receive as they live in enormous MOUT (military operation urban terrain) areas built to reflect life in Afghanistan. Kelvin Garvanne attended the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He is an Emmy award-winning creative artist who is fascinated by the world and enjoys investigating the context of national and world events. Garvanne is a native New Yorker who has lived in Washington, D.C., Bogota, Colombia, Madrid, Spain, and Los Angeles, California. He has traveled through several countries including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Panama, Mexico, and Haiti. For the last nine years, he provided Islamic culture and Iraqi and Pashto language training to military and civilian personnel deploying overseas. Garvanne continues to develop opportunities to advise and train military and civilians positioned in careers involving global service. He also develops creative projects to expose the human condition.
