As we enter October, we thought it'd be a great idea to dedicate the month to the horrorcore genre of hip-hop all month. We're kicking it off with the sinister, down right depraved album Season Of Da Siccness from Brotha Lynch Hung, released in 1995. Over the years this album has developed a cult following for its gruesome tales, like a slasher movie on wax. https://www.instagram.com/str8_the_clippa/profilecard/?igsh=cTBzNnFhenRkN3Nl https://www.tiktok.com/@brandonhetzel996?_t=8qIa0qv360Q&_r=1 https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086006336425&mibextid=LQQJ4d
Stephen Datz gave a wonderful lecture for the Western Art Patrons at the Tucson Museum of Art and, you know, it's one thing to actually see paintings up-close and in person, and it's another to actually hear the artist talk about his journey and where those paintings fit in to the greater story. This was the first time Stephen has given a lecture like this and he did a fantastic job.So we wanted to share this lecture with you and I think it's much more enjoyable if you watch it on YouTube vs. listening to it, but at the same time it's a great to hear an orator like Stephen talk for over half an hour. I really enjoyed watching and hearing what he had to say and I'm sure you will too.

Really interesting podcast today with Stephen Datz. You know, most of the podcasts are more about the history of the person and trying to figure out that journey. And in this case, it was really more of an educational understanding of the process of how Steven does his work and how that translates to our show, which is we're having a show and there will be opening very shortly (Friday April 26, 2024).It's interesting because I know a lot of the things about Stephen, and as an art dealer, you get to understand your artist, how they tick and what works for them and doesn't work for them. Just like you were a family member. I know certain things about Stephen, but after hearing about his process, it really hones in on who he is and how he has to do things to make it work and also allows me to understand what I have to be aware of when he's going to do a show and the things that he has to deal with himself from a creative point of view, because he's a perfectionist. This drive for perfection makes him slower than normal artist in the sense that his production can't be that big. He just has to have it a certain way before it ever leaves his studio. If you look at the show, you can see why. I mean, it's just a beautiful show, but it also relates to his color sense and how he sees the world through his eyes.He has unique eyes because he's, synesthetic. It allows him to see colors and hear music and just perceive things a tad different than the normal human. It's a rare thing to have where a color can be a number and a shape.I think anybody that wants to get inside the brain an artist. How their methods and creativity work, and what it requires for them to create. They'll enjoy hearing this one. This is Stephen Datz.
We chat with the NYC legend Joshua Datz live while he is working and its gets a little insane, plus Jeffy has some video content for us to check out

I had Stephen Datz on the podcast today. It was interesting because this is not the normal podcast where I talk about somebody's life as I've done that with Stephen before (Epi. 43 & 84). This podcast is about a show he had worked on for seven years in the Grand Tetons. It was a prestigious plein-air show that he had helped start.Well, the show was canceled suddenly in 2019 and Stephen didn't get closure with this body of work. He wanted to show all these paintings, and enhance some of the ones he really hadn't finished yet. So he spent the time and energy to not only finish the paintings but to write an article about each one and then put it in book form. From a standpoint of "Is this a financially smart thing to do?" I'd say maybe not. But from a creative standpoint, from an emotional, you know, seeking closure standpoint, it's exactly what art is about. He shows what he did, how he did it, why he did it, and he finished the paintings that never got finished. So it's a wonderful show. This is kind of a dated podcast in a weird way because it's really talking about a show opening on August 19, 2022, here at my Tucson gallery. This show happens to be getting memorialized in a book as well. It's always going to be out there as long as the books are out there and we go and talk about it all.Stephen C. … the truth is I'll never pay you! This week we're doing a deep dive into the history of Argentinian debt repayment, or lack thereof. The co-student body presidents at Ashland High School are calling on the school board to add a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for students who are eligible to get the shots. Luke Seeley and Joshua Datz started an online petition after appealing directly to the school board. They say they're frustrated by the board's inaction so far. Meanwhile, a staff analysis presented to the board of Portland Public Schools last week recommended a vaccine mandate for students 12 and older. The school board's student representative, Jackson Weinberg, was the first to speak at the meeting, saying a vaccine mandate would make students safer. We hear from Weinberg and Datz.
Eurovision 1991 went down in history due to the tied score between Sweden and France, so that the winner had to be decided by tiebreaker. What many tend to forget is that Israel with the song "Kan" was also in the mix, and in fact held the lead for much of the voting process. Since this happens to be Emil's personal favorite of all Eurovision songs ever he has been nagging her for more than a year, and Emil finally gets to talk to Orna Datz, the female half of the married duo who sang it. We learn that Orna and Moshe actually performed independently as solo artists until they were convinced to form a duo for the Israeli national final in 1987, but after that the audience refused to let them not be a duo again and they were hugely successful. We learn about the rumors about all the different artists who are said to have been offered "Kan" and we get to listen to the original demo with the composer Uzi Hitman, as well as about how Kobi Oshrat and any others contributed to making the song what it finally became. Orna reveals that it felt like the week in Rome took five years off her life, and we get to hear about "Amen" by Liora, who previously in this podcast claimed that Duo Datz changed their mind and wanted the song back. Is this true? And what is Orna's relation to her ex-husband today?Legend: Orna DatzSong: Kan כאן (Israel 1991)Host: Emil LöfströmContact: emil@schlagervannerna.seInstagram Facebookhttp//www.eurovisionlegends.se See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This week I had the pleasure to speak with Diane Datz owner of The Recovery Lab NM. As a physical therapist for the past 6 years, Diane has a great insight into injuries runners go through as well as specific things you can do to stay healthy heading into the colder months. She also offers several body weight exercises you can do at home while on lockdown, or if you just can't make it out to the gym.We also spend time talking about how she got into running in beautiful Corpus Cristi, how she got into PT, and how running influences her practice. She is also a USATF certified Triathlete coach and has raced distances from the 10k to 50k. She is no stranger to disappointment as she has overcome a torn ACL and had a recent triathlon canceled.I hope you enjoy her story. Instagram and website are linked above. Stay safe, be kind, and keep running, New Mexico.
Stephen C. Datz paints the American Western landscape in his own clear voice. Strong, angular design, rich harmonious colors, and a striking interpretation of the landscape are hallmarks of Stephen’s style. It took hard work and determination on his part to get here. In this episode, Stephen talks about how his unique voice developed. He was frustrated by how unprepared he was to make a living in fine art after earning a BFA from Colorado State University. He flailed for a few difficult years as he tried to figure out how to thrive as a fine art painter. Stephen’s father encouraged him to take a workshop from artist Skip Whitcomb. It was just what he needed. That workshop opened his eyes to the value of painting outdoors and gave him access to real-world, practical business advice. But there was a problem. In seeking gallery representation, one gallery owner made a frank observation about Stephen’s work: his work was derivative, looking much like the paintings of his workshop instructors. Rather than be dismayed by the criticism, Stephen viewed it as an encouragement to allow his artistic voice to emerge with confidence. He made the determination to be true to himself and his vision. The result? A stunning body of work that is truly unique. And, galleries – including Mark Sublette’s Medicine Man Gallery – took note. Stephen’s love of the landscape remains strong. He frequently explores the western landscape near his home in Grand Junction, Colorado, with his plein air gear. If you are hiking deep in the high desert and red rock country of Colorado and Utah, it's possible you might just get a dazzling glimpse of Stephen C. Datz painting the rhythm and geometry of nature. We are taught to love ourselves, we are taught to aspire to marriage we can have ambition but not too much that it outshines “ the man “ in our lives. How do you solve a conflict between two parties if one of the parties does not believe there is a problem, or only recognizes it as a small issue, while the other party sees a large and continuous problem? As women we battle amongst ourselves; often competing on which feminine race is more attractive, what true sexual femininity is and who will gain the interests of a man, how we should dress and the latest fashion trends. Does digital social constructs help with our battles ladies? The business models of these social media networks incentivizes us to behave in certain ways, in ways that promote speaking often at the cost of listening. So are we constantly listening to the wrong information; and never really channeling what is best suited for us as individual women? This podcast series is going to be based on my opinion of said topic. The guest cohost will provide their experiences or expertise on the subject matter. Vanessa Gonzalez is a lawyer, entrepreneur, activist, volunteer and mother. Steve Datz's second visit to the Art Dealer Diaries; on this special episode we discuss what it takes to be an artist and pull off a major art exhibit. Stephen's first interview (Epi. 43) delved into his backstory and what led him to pursue painting full-time. This time around, Stephen and Mark go in-depth about the lifestyle of the modern landscape painter. We hear about the choices that have to be made beyond the canvas to have a successful exhibition in a southwest gallery setting, and how being a "precisionist" can both help and hinder your art career. A great insight into the mind of an artist, and an episode you can't afford to miss.

In this episode I speak with Andrea Datz from Integrative Horsemanship. There is so much gold in this episode. I am so happy for you and your horses that you have tunes into this one. From learning to listen to your horse, to understanding the principles of dancing the Tango and taking them into your time with your horse, and to the beautiful gift that I received during this podcast, calmness.Andrea was so calm and clear I her communication throughout this podcast that after a night of barely any sleep, waking at 4am to record the conversation at 5am, no breakfast and a usually highly excitable nature, I felt calm and grounded by Andrea’s presence from the other side of the world! I hope you feel this too while listening to Andrea and the beautiful message she has to share. To connect with Andrea you can go to her website, Facebook page or you can follow her on her blog. I got so tired of social media ranting about the IHOP / IHOB thing today, I felt it's only right to talk about the burgers of Tampa Bay worthy of this much chatter. These are all mom and pop type places. I left big chains out. When it comes to chain burgers, Five Guys is tough to beat. We're spoiled because we're used to seeing them everywhere. But I wanted to focus on the burgers that are (mostly) unique to Tampa Bay. What didn't make my list? El Cap. I'm sorry. I know it's a St. Pete icon. I just don't taste it. My picks include Datz in Tampa, Engine No. 9 in St. Pete, Portillo's in Brandon, the Stein and Vine in Riverview and a burger you can't even buy right now. You'll have to wait til 2019.

It's hard to imagine a time when we didn't have curbside recycling programs, but it was actually less than 30 years ago now. That's when Christine Datz-Romero had decided to do something to help divert recyclables from the waste stream. This expanded into an entire center that is the largest collector of food scraps and electronic waste here in NYC. The Lower East Side Ecology Center that Christine founded helps divert 400 tonnes of food scraps from landfill. They also have a year-round e-waste recycling program that helps remove the 70% of heavy metals that can be found in landfill from electronics that are incorrectly disposed of. -- Resource mentioned in this episode: Mary Appelhof -- Check out the LES Ecology Center's e-waste drop off sites! There are popup locations every weekend through June. They've also opened an additional drop-off site in Chinatown at 75 Broadway near the East Broadway F stop or the Grand St. D stop. You can bring your computers, keyboard, printers, etc. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays between 12-4 PM. Link in show notes for more info. Don't miss the LES Ecology Center's 30th birthday party at the East River Park on June 9th. Face painting, food, and compost - it's a great opportunity to see what the LES Ecology Center does and help support the continuation of their work. RUN Last June, we launched our podcast, and the first run we ever featured was the Tampa Beer Run. Tampa Beer Run is not only special because it was our first, but because it benefits My Hope Chest, which helps those recovering from breast cancer with reconstructive surgery costs. After the run, we got a bite to eat and a cocktail at Datz. EAT Datz is a great place to eat in the Tampa area, only blocks from Bayshore Boulevard, a beautiful stretch of sidewalk, maybe even the longest in Florida, where you can look out over the beautiful Tampa Bay and where we ran Gasparilla in February. Datz features classic comfort food with a twist, has a great brunch menu, and some creative cocktails as well as an outstanding beer list. DRINK At Datz we had a great cocktail featuring coffee and a powdered doughnut as a garnish! The Dunk this Doughnut Cocktail is what we are featuring in this Quick Bite. THAT'S A WRAP! Tampa Beer Run is not only special because it was our first, but because it benefits My Hope Chest, which helps those recovering from breast cancer with reconstructive surgery costs. This was a great run in Al Lopez Park and with 4 different beer stops featuring samples from local Florida breweries and one from Georgia. Don't forget about My Hope Chest's upcoming GloWalk in April, too, which will be a great time running through the historic Tampa RiverWalk at night! DRINK On the run, there were four beer stops featuring the following brews: #1 Terrapin Hi 5 (IPA) #2 Coppertail Unholy #3 Motorworks Cruiser Kölsch #4 Six Ten Tent Beer Lager Our favorites were the Motorworks and the Six Ten. We can't wait to have them again. At Datz we had a great cocktail featuring coffee and a powdered doughnut as a garnish! Look for it on a Quick Bite in the coming weeks! THAT'S A WRAP!
