In this episode of The Paul Taylor Podcast, I sit down with Megan Flamer, an entrepreneur and mindfulness, compassion and resilience trainer, for a fascinating exploration of how ancient wisdom meets modern workplace challenges. We delve into why traditional mindfulness approaches sometimes fall short, especially for those who've experienced trauma, and discover how integrating multiple therapeutic modalities—from psychedelic therapy to EMDR—can create more effective healing pathways. Megan shares her unique insights from Silicon Valley and reveals how organisations can move beyond basic mindfulness programming to create lasting cultural change. Whether you're battling workplace burnout, seeking practical tools for self-awareness, or curious about how philosophical traditions like Stoicism can transform modern leadership, this conversation offers fresh perspectives on bringing contemplative practices into the 21st-century workplace. Key Topics: Professional Background and Silicon Valley Experience Limitations of Traditional Mindfulness Approaches Psychedelic Therapy and Mindfulness Integration Innovation and Contemplative Studies in Business Modern Applications of Ancient Wisdom Practical Burnout Prevention and Workplace Wellness Beyond Traditional Mindfulness Programming Organisational Implementation and Resources Key Takeaways: Supplement traditional mindfulness practices with other therapeutic approaches (like EMDR or tapping) to build a more comprehensive personal wellness strategy. Study both ancient wisdom traditions and modern research to create a personalized practice that combines time-tested principles with contemporary scientific insights. Set up regular self-check-ins to catch signs of burnout before they escalate by tracking your energy levels, sleep quality, and emotional state. Transform meditation concepts into concrete daily habits by identifying specific moments in your workday where you can apply mindful practices. Track and measure the business impact of your mindfulness practice by noting improvements in productivity, decision-making, and team relationships. Keep a daily log of your triggers, reactions, and interaction patterns to build greater self-awareness and improve workplace relationships. Help normalize mindfulness in your workplace by sharing specific examples of how contemplative practices have improved your work performance. Read one classic philosophical text (particularly from Stoicism) each quarter and extract practical applications for your current work challenges. Author Mike Curato wrote Flamer as a way to help young queer kids, like he once was, better understand and accept themselves. It was met with immediate praise and accolades — until it wasn't. When the book got caught up in a wave of Texas-based book bans, suddenly the narrative changed. And like so many books that address queer identity, Flamer quickly became a flashpoint in a long, messy culture war that tried to distort the nature of the book.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

And... we've entered into Celebrate Sodomy month, and Officer Cartman has discovered their latest weapon in spreading faggotry around the country. When it comes to your town--be ready to push back. These people need psychiatric help; not encouragement. We discuss these and other things on tonight's show. We hope you'll tune in. :)

Original Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2833leAfE9g&t=1242s Dr. E. Michael Jones visits the local public access channel studio in downtown South Bend to discuss with Peter Helland his understanding of the very controversial decision to continue to retain the retired Jewish lawyer of Barnes and Thornburg, Alan Feldbaum, to his high position within the St. Joseph County Public Library. Many local citizens and particularly mothers, represented by county council member, Amy Drake, want him replaced. Feldbaum has been insisting that the children section contain books like "Flamer" and "This Book is Gay." The mothers and many others feel this makes it morally unsafe for their children to be in the children's section of the library. Amy Drake thought for sure the three Republican conservative county commissioners would support her. Instead as Dr. Jones says, they stabbed her in the back. While this extremely important 10 am meeting was taking place, only two hours later at 12 o'clock the Republicans were holding a meeting at the Juday Creek golf course to listen to "conservative" radio talk show host Casey Hendrickson and common council member Eli Wax give a talk on "Understanding Israel" in light of the war in Gaza. After the hour talk Jones was given the first question. Jones said the talk was an insult to the intelligence of the audience. Hendrickson immediately started "sparring" with Jones. Finally Hendrickson said: "I know who you are. The ADL says you are an antisemite." This galvanized the crowd against Jones. But fortunately Mike came with some friends that created a buffer for him. Mike never was allowed to say his peace at the meeting but now on public access and youtube he can get his important message out: Both political parties in St. Joseph County and South Bend are controlled way too much by the Jewish citizens and outside Jewish influence he says. And this is happening all over the country. He says we must take back our country and get representatives that actually represent the majority. ——— NOW AVAILABLE! MDJ Script/ Top Stories for Dec 30th Publish Date: Dec 29th Commercial: Henssler :15 From the Henssler Financial Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Saturday, December 30th and Happy 87th Birthday to HOF pitcher Sandy Koufax. ***12.30.23 - BIRTHDAY - SANDY KOUFAX*** I'm Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Cobb Unemployment Drops Below 3% Kennesaw Council Newcomer Ready to Take on Wildman's Civil War Surplus Cobb Civil War Round Table Examines Gen. Joseph E. Johnston All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Cobb Unemployment Drops Below 3% In November, Cobb County's unemployment rate dropped to 2.8%, down from 3.1% in October but higher than 2.4% in November 2022. The county's labor force increased by 295, with 431,345 employed and 12,226 unemployed. The rise in unemployment is attributed to individuals re-entering the workforce post-COVID-19. Economist Roger Tutterow notes that the increased unemployment rate isn't concerning if job cuts aren't occurring, highlighting a significant increase in employed workers. Marietta's November unemployment rate was 2.7%, while Smyrna's remained at 3.2%. Cobb County's unemployment rate is lower than Atlanta's (3.1%) and Georgia's (3.4%), both below the national rate of 3.7%. STORY 2: Kennesaw Council Newcomer Ready to Take on Wildman's Civil War Surplus Madelyn Orochena, newly elected to Kennesaw City Council, aims to close Wildman's Civil War Surplus, a Confederate-themed store in the city's downtown. Orochena, who views the store as a hindrance to progress, plans to pursue legal action or code enforcement to shut it down. While previous blight complaints were dismissed, Orochena, an arts enthusiast, hopes to transform the downtown into a vibrant destination with a diverse range of shops. She initiated a mural installation near Wildman's, emphasizing her commitment to public art. Orochena also advocates for pedestrian safety, affordable housing, and the city's overall growth and improvement. STORY 3: Cobb Civil War Round Table Examines Gen. Joseph E. Johnston Historian Richard McMurry discussed Gen. Joseph E. Johnston at a meeting of the Civil War Round Table of Cobb County. McMurry's latest book, "The Civil Wars of General Joseph E. Johnston," provides a critical analysis of Johnston's campaigns during the Civil War. Johnston, once considered a premier Confederate general, faced challenges defending Atlanta against Gen. William T. Sherman. McMurry's research debunked long-held myths about Johnston, revealing his strategic shortcomings and conflicts with fellow officers. The discussion delved into Johnston's Atlanta campaign, which ultimately resulted in Atlanta's fall to the Union Army led by Sherman. We'll be right back Break: ESOG – TEDS STORY 4: No. 2: Democratic Cobb Commissioners Defy State by Drawing Their Own District Lines The second-ranking local story of 2023 in Cobb County involves a redistricting controversy that unfolded during the first Board of Commissioners meeting. The Democratic majority, leveraging Georgia's home rule powers, replaced the state-approved commission district map with its own, challenging the legality of the move. Republican Commissioners JoAnn Birrell and Keli Gambrill abstained from voting, leading to their removal from the dais. The dispute centers on whether Georgia counties can independently draw district maps. A lawsuit, initiated by Gambrill and continued by Cobb residents Catherine and David Floam, challenges the county's map, seeking a declaration of its unconstitutionality and validation of the legislature's map. The court is expected to issue a ruling soon. STORY 5: No. 3: Cobb School Board Map Thrown into Question by Lawsuit The third-ranked local story of 2023 in Cobb County involves a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Cobb Board of Education's districts. The lawsuit alleged an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, leading to a federal judge's order for the General Assembly to draw new districts by January 10. The judge issued a preliminary injunction, preventing future elections using the current school board map. The school district, which spent over $1.3 million defending the map, appealed the injunction to the 11th Circuit of Appeals. The contentious issue revolves around accusations of packing and bleaching voters based on race, with the school board's Republican majority drawing the map after the 2020 census. We'll be back in a moment Break: DRAKE – INGLES 6 STORY 6: Judge upholds new Georgia congressional, legislative maps U.S. District Judge Steve Jones ruled that federal judges lack the authority to redistribute political power between parties, upholding Georgia's new legislative and congressional maps. The maps were redrawn during a special session following lawsuits alleging Voting Rights Act violations. Jones ordered additional Black-majority districts, aiming for Democratic gains. Despite legislative leaders crafting maps to maintain Republican advantages, Jones ruled that partisan decisions alone don't violate the Voting Rights Act. He upheld the new maps, including the elimination of a coalition district, deeming it moot. Rep. Lucy McBath plans to run in the new Black-majority district, emphasizing the importance of voters' will. STORY 7: No. 4: Books, Bans and 'Good and Evil' The culture wars hit Cobb and Marietta school districts as book bans ignited tensions. Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale fired teacher Katie Rinderle for reading "My Color is Purple" to students. Despite protests, the Cobb Board of Education upheld Rinderle's termination, prompting an appeal to the Georgia Board of Education. In August, Ragsdale removed "Flamer" and "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" for "sexually explicit content." Marietta Superintendent Grant Rivera followed suit, sparking protests. Both superintendents faced criticism and support for their decisions amid a broader debate on book censorship and education. Why doesn't the Republican Party have its candidates committed to school choice at both the federal and state levels? We hear from a so-called 'teacher' who tells her board of trustees that if she cannot choose the posters and books for her classroom, many of them sexual and racially charged in nature, then she shouldn't have to choose 'who lives and dies.' There should be a national campaign advocating for school choice to counter the influence of teachers like these. If we do not stand up, the delusion will persist. We see this expressed through the babbling of a man claiming that a straight man can be attracted to a “trans” “woman” who still has a penis and he's still 100% straight because “trans” “women” are real women, no matter their anatomy. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for Nov 17th Publish Date: Nov 16th Commercial: Henssler :15 From the Henssler Financial Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Friday, November 17th and Happy Birthday to Tom Seaver ***TOM SEAVER – NO HITTER*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Cobb Sheriff Uses Drone to Nab Suspect Marietta School Board to Issue Final Decision on "Flamer" 21st Annual MDJ Gobble Jog Fights Poverty This Thanksgiving All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Cobb Sheriff Uses Drone to Nab Suspect Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens praised the use of a drone unit in the arrest of 28-year-old Antonio Carter for violating probation. Deputies, serving a warrant at a Marietta motel, encountered Carter who fought with them, then fled into nearby woods. The drone unit, along with deputies and K9 units, tracked Carter to a neighboring apartment complex where he was found hiding in a laundry room. Carter was arrested without incident, showcasing the effective use of technology in law enforcement. Owens commended the diligence of the teams involved. Carter, facing probation violation charges, was previously arrested in April for multiple offenses. STORY 2: Marietta School Board to Issue Final Decision on "Flamer" The Marietta Board of Education is set to make a final decision on the fate of the book "Flamer" by Mike Curato at a special meeting. The book was removed from Marietta High School's library due to Superintendent Grant Rivera's judgment of "highly inappropriate, sexually explicit content." Parent Kayla Sargent filed an appeal to reinstate the book, arguing against book banning and claiming the removal is linked to the main character, Aiden, being gay. Supporters of the removal thanked Rivera during public comments. The board's decision on Thursday is expected to be final, but Sargent indicated the community might continue addressing the issue through elections. STORY 3: 21st Annual MDJ Gobble Jog Fights Poverty This Thanksgiving The 21st annual Gobble Jog, sponsored by the Marietta Daily Journal, will take place on Thanksgiving at Marietta Square to support MUST Ministries in fighting poverty. The event, featuring 10K, 5K, one-mile, and "tot trot" courses, is expected to draw 10,000 runners, aiming to raise over $500,000 for food donations, shelter, job creation, and other resources for the impoverished in Cobb and nearby counties. Dr. Dwight "Ike" Reighard, CEO of MUST Ministries, emphasizes the impact of the race, stating that participants are not just running for their health but making a meaningful difference in the community. Runners can register online or in person on race day, and "phantom runners" are encouraged to support MUST from a distance. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We'll be right back Break: ESOG – ELON – DAYCO STORY 4: Cobb Commission Debates DA's Request For More Funding Cobb Commissioner Keli Gambrill voted against approving $680,000 for eight full-time victim advocates in Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr.'s office, citing concerns about using county funds and equity. Broady, facing a reduction in Victims of Crime Act grant funding, sought county support. Gambrill questioned why other departments with staffing needs weren't considered and argued using insurance premium taxes was against board policy. Commissioner Jerica Richardson suggested strategic planning for county program funding. Despite acknowledging equity concerns, Commissioner Monique Sheffield emphasized the responsibility to protect Cobb residents. Chairwoman Lisa Cupid acknowledged Gambrill's points but stressed the importance of funding victim support services as mandated by state law. Gambrill criticized the decision, alleging campaign-related motivations. STORY 5: Marietta School Board Extends Superintendent's Contract Superintendent Grant Rivera's contract with Marietta City Schools has been extended through December 31, 2026, following a 6-0 vote by the Board of Education. The contract includes a 5.5% pay increase, raising Rivera's base salary to approximately $247,200, with a total pay package, including benefits, reaching about $392,200. This marks an increase from his previous base salary of about $234,400, with an additional $10,000 annual bonus. this is a comedy ""podcast"" btw believe it or not. It is a joke, it is parody, it is satire. It is not serious; it is not meant to be taken seriously. I do not condone the physical harming or even light harassment of real estate agents in any way shape or form. Do not call, text, or email Jeffrey Doussan or Keller Williams of New Orleans. Do not write funny bad reviews on yelp or google or furnished finder. Do not send pipe bombs or bomb threats to his house or any of his listed properties. I mean it! If you do any of these things you will be banned from podcasts forever. Thank you enjoy the show. Looking at rentals is really fun cuz real estate agents and property managers are some of the most redacted and oblivious people you have to trust with your livelihood. Recently I had scheduled to see a place and the guy no showed, no contact I messaged and emailed him multiple times and 3 days later he texted "apologies out of town." He then proceeds to try to reschedule immediately for the next day at 11am I say can we do 2pm he says no we can't let's do Monday 2pm I say okay Monday 2pm he says great I say great and then he says actually we can do tomorrow Friday 2pm i say perfect cool then Friday at 11am he says you must think we're crazy but we're actually just short-handed can you do monday 2pm and then i showed up today Monday at 2pm and the guy is 10 minutes late, I text the guy and he said "oh Philip's not there?" Philip the minion shows up within 1 minute of me texting, Philip says haha it's good thing our office is right around the corner and he points to a building literally right behind the rental and gives me the dorkiest fcking smile and I want to drown Philip in a puddle. We go to open the door and he doesn't have the right keypad code. I stand around in the rain for about 5 minutes while he calls and texts people and then he's like oh we can just try the other side of the duplex and I asked if the other side is the same layout and price and furnishings and he said no so I said no and so we sat in the rain for another 5 minutes and he finally gets the code and we go in. It looks like the last tenant had just left, all the lights and tvs are on and trash cans full, poop splatters on the toilet and it smells like cat piss. Despite this, I message the property manager that I am interested and would like to move forward with my application and he likes my message and says nothing else. $1400/month. a few years ago, a property manager was stunned that I requested to inspect the house before signing a legal document that said we conducted an inspection and told me I was the first person to ever do so. He addressed me as "Gay bro" in a text and it was never acknowledged $1754/month 440 sq feet #italiano #realestateagent #propertymanagement When you were investing in real estate, I studied the blade. When you were having open houses, I mastered the blockchain. While you wasted your days at the bank in pursuit of equity, I cultivated inner strength. And now that the world is on fire and the barbarians are at the gate you have the audacity to come to me for rent. It's free! Real estate! We're giving you land! It's free. We're giving you a house. It's real estate. Free. It's a free house for you, Jim. This is free real estate! You gotta bring furniture, but the house is free! Two bedrooms, no rugs. It's free! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Marietta Council Adopts New Ward Map The Marietta City Council recently voted unanimously to adopt a new ward map as mandated by federal law, following the 10-year census. The objective is to ensure equal population distribution among the city's wards, with around 8,710 residents in each ward. The Marietta Board of Education follows the same ward map. A committee led by Councilman Joseph Goldstein, along with other members and a non-voting school board representative, presented two map options that closely resembled the previous one. The council chose the second option, which maintains a school and a park in each ward and keeps council members in their respective wards. The decision was made after two public hearings, with a 7-0 vote in favor........…….Get more stories like this from mdjonline.com STORY 2: Acworth Mayor Talks New Developments and Bids Councilmen Farewell Acworth's Fall Town Hall, led by Mayor Tommy Allegood, celebrated the city's achievements and future prospects. STORY 3: Marietta Parent Challenges Removal of “Flamer” from School Library A parent in Marietta has appealed the removal of the book "Flamer" by Mike Curato from Marietta High School's library. The removal of this book, along with "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl," was prompted by concerns raised by a parent and the Marietta school board members, citing sexually explicit content. However, a new process was created that allows for the appeal of such removals. The parent, Kayla Sargent, argues that "Flamer" does not contain harmful or pornographic content and can serve educational purposes. The book tells the story of a gay 14-year-old boy facing bullying and self-acceptance. The ongoing debate over book censorship, sexuality, and gender has been a contentious issue in recent board meetings and tribunals in the area. This decision follows a public hearing on the budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2023, and ending September 30, 2024. The proposed budget of $29.4 million represents a 6% increase from the previous year. Notably, it includes a 3% cost of living raise for staff and relies heavily on tax revenue, with around 80% of the general fund coming from taxes. The largest expenditures are in public safety, general government, and public works. Economic growth and increased property tax revenue have allowed for the millage rate reduction, benefiting most homeowners. The final budget adoption is scheduled for September 18, 2023.........…..(pause) We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. The event celebrated Atlanta's professional soccer team and was organized in partnership with Scana Energy. The school was selected as the Atlanta United Flags Out School for September, thanks to the efforts of the school's secretary, Stacy Meriaux, who noticed many students wearing Atlanta United gear. During the pep rally, Westberg and Muyumba congratulated the students on the school's new soccer club and shared their journeys to becoming professional soccer players. They encouraged the students to remain confident, consistent, and to embrace the challenges of competition, emphasizing that discomfort can lead to progress. STORY 5: East Cobber Parade The East Cobber Parade and Festival is making a return after a three-year hiatus. The 25th annual event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Originally launched in 1995, the parade has become one of Cobb County's prominent annual events, featuring music, costumes, floats, marching bands, and attracting thousands of participants and spectators. The parade and festival aim to foster a sense of community in East Cobb, showcasing local schools, businesses, and community members. The parade will have over 1,000 participants representing various groups and will be followed by a free community festival featuring entertainment, arts and crafts, concessions, carnival games, and local businesses. The event holds special significance for the local schools, with principals and Teachers of the Year being honored as VIPs. STORY 6: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Marietta city officials have partnered with the Mighty Millie Foundation to declare September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The foundation was established by Nick and Claire Mracek in memory of their daughter Millie, who battled embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue childhood cancer, and sadly passed away at the age of three. The proclamation aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer, the need for increased funding and research, and to support local families affected by this disease. On average, 47 children are diagnosed with cancer daily in the U.S., making it the second leading cause of death in children after firearms. The Mighty Millie Foundation continues to advocate for research and support for children and families dealing with cancer. We'll be back in a moment Break: Powers - Ingles 6 - JRM STORY 7: Viral One Chip Challenge Following the tragic death of a Massachusetts teen who consumed the viral One Chip Challenge, the manufacturer, Paqui, has decided to discontinue the challenge and remove the product from store shelves. The 14-year-old boy died on September 1 after consuming the extremely spicy chip, which is seasoned with Carolina Reaper and Naga Viper peppers. The challenge encouraged participants to eat the entire chip and endure the extreme heat without consuming anything else to quench the spice. Despite warnings against participation by children and individuals with medical conditions, the challenge gained popularity on social media. Paqui is recalling the product "out of an abundance of caution" and offering refunds to customers who have purchased it. STORY 8: Halloween Hikes Halloween Hikes, now in its 38th year at Chattahoochee Nature Center, offers a non-scary, educational nighttime adventure for families from October 27th to 29th, between 6 and 10 p.m. This year, the event has introduced a more flexible schedule with hiking sessions departing every six minutes, allowing families to tailor their experience. Participants can explore nature at night on paved Wildlife Walk and ADA-compliant River Boardwalk Trail, encountering costumed characters who share insights about their critters. The event also features games, crafts, music, and food options, including a firepit area for families to relax and a cocktail bar for adults. …Back with final thoughts after Break: Teds - Henssler 60 Signoff- Thanks again for hanging out with us on today's Marietta Daily Journal podcast. The School Choice moment is NOW. But, the GOP is obsessed with Ukraine. We discuss the dumbing down of society in today's show, with the purpose being that its citizens will not be able to notice what is happening around them. A new movie called ‘Essential Church' documents the resistance of some churches to state mandated lockdowns in 2020 and onward. Although the movie is very Christian, it has received very little attention, pro or anti, from any media, as opposed to movies like Sound of Freedom. Why is that? The main premise is whether or not Caesar or God has the ultimate authority of spiritual matters - referencing Romans 13. Mark 12:13-17 is also referenced in the film: “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's.” But this line refers more to Buddhist philosophy than some political statement that is applicable today. Christians need to learn that quoting the Bible will not win them battles against the state. The whole issue of power is a matter of precedent, legality, lawfulness, and proof. The Sound of Freedom also took Matthew 18:6 out of context to mean only ‘children' when the verse refers to all of God's children as “little ones” who should not be led astray by sin: “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” School districts in Utah, Colorado, and Florida are also being bombarded with demands from single individuals, usually working for political groups like Freedom from Religion, to ban the Bible if other books are also going to be banned. After all, the Bible is filled with violence and sex. But there is a major difference between the two. Books like Flamer is a graphic pornographic display of homosexual acts between young boys, Gender Queer is an explicit pornographic display of sex, and This Book is Gay literally teaches the ‘ins and outs of gay sex'. Of the 175 books banned in Florida, 87% were pornographic and in violation of statute 847.012, a law which makes it a felony penalty to distribute porn to children. The Bible, on the other hand, is probably not age appropriate for some little ones in the same way that adults take it as the harshest literal gospel. But if the Bible should be banned for vulgarity or sex, then what about Leviticus 20:13, which must be one of the verse of proof: “‘If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.” Christians refer to this as the proof of God's anger with homosexuals, when in fact ‘mankind' could reference all people, and instead refer to promiscuous behavior rather than homosexuality. To advocate for banning the Bible on these grounds is also an advocacy for the destruction of a text based on its perverse homosexual content, which makes the whole thing very ironic. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

Mike Curato made a name for himself with beautiful picture books like his Litle Elliot series—heartwarming stories with beautiful illustrations reminiscent of Chris van Allsburg. In the fall of 2020, Mike published FLAMER, a semi-autobiographical tale about a mixed-race teen coming to terms with his sexuality while at scout camp. It is a raw, unflinching, and authentic look at a coming-of-age story. I was asked to blurb FLAMER, I wrote "This book will save lives." It is so important for our young people to see their stories reflected in literature. Amongst the mini accolades FLMAER received was a Lambda Literacy Award, whcih celebrates books from the LGBTQ+ community. I'm proud to bring you my pal Mike Curato's Origin Story!

THE THESIS: Trump is to the Deep State what Twitter under Elon could be to the rest of The Party. THE SCRIPTURE & SCRIPTURAL RESOURCES: Psalm 83:33 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.Proverbs 21:28-3128 A false witness will perish, but a careful listener will testify successfully.29 The wicked put up a bold front, but the upright give thought to their ways.30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.THE NEWS & COMMENT:Elon Musk has said he will empower citizen journalism. This, of course, terrifies the Mockingbird Media who seek to regain complete narrative control. They consider Elon a gate-crasher. Citizen reporting beats legacy media on a crucial, complex story (yet again); While the New York Times et al offer puffery on Sam Bankman-Fried and the FTX collapse, expert outsiders sift through the wreckage and get to the truth; this is Twitter and Substack at their bestTwitter is where we learn how desperate the Mockingbirds are to work with the DO”J” to hide the truth about Paul Pelolsi.NBC suspends correspondent after retracting his story on Paul Pelosi attack, report; The report by "Today Show" correspondent Michael Almaguer report seems to contradict police and prosecutors' claims and spurred conspiracy theories. But, Elon is not the free speech absolutist he fancies himself . . . The Party considers President Trump a gate-crasher. He spoke truths about America that are not to be voiced by people in power. We learned from President Trump's words--and then what the DO”J” did to him--how corrupt that organization really is at the top. Just like we learn so much of value from independent data analysts and truth-telling doctors on Twitter. Mike Curato is an award-winning author and illustrator of a more than a few incredible kid's books, as well as the more recent graphic novel FLAMER, which is a MUST-read no matter your age, gender, or sexual orientation. Author Jarrett J. Krosoczka put it best: “This book will save lives.” Mike's children's books include the "Little Elliot" series - about an adorable polka-dotted elephant, of whom Raman's daughter is a BIG fan. Mike's also created beautiful kid's stories like "Where is Bina Bear?" He's illustrated other moving and important stories like "Worm Loves Worm", "What If", and "The Power of One." And in October he'll be releasing the book “What Are you” alongside Christian Trimmer. Beyond Mike's work being always elegant and beautifully illustrated, there's a much deeper sentiment just beneath the surface that will appeal to parents and kids alike. FLAMER - Mike's 2020 graphic novel debut - is a semi-autobiographical graphic novel set in 1995 at a Boy Scouts summer camp, and tells the story of a young teen Aiden who is bullied for being who he is. But the story goes much deeper, and hits a lot of notes and nerves that are both important and all-too-familiar (the liberal mentions of the X-Men, Lord of the Rings, and Nirvana don't hurt either). Flamer isn't just a must-read book for those of us who can relate, but it's one that we should read for greater empathy for the people around us.
