Episode Summary:   In this eye-opening episode, we dive deep into the often-overlooked cornerstone of women's health: the cardiovascular system. Join host Dr. Robyn Benson for a powerful conversation with Andie Crosby, President of Calroy Health Sciences, as they expose why your heart—and more specifically, your blood vessels—should be the first place you look when it comes to living a longer, more vibrant life.   Guest Bio:   Andie Crosby has over 30 years' marketing and business development experience working with iconic brands such as Nike, Apple, Gap, Proctor & Gamble and magazines such as Rolling Stone, Glamour, and Vanity Fair. In 2010, her personal interest in health and wellness converged with an opportunity to build and lead the first marketing team at The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). She was the driving force behind a 13x increase in the number of clinicians trained by IFM and a resulting surge in awareness and demand for functional medicine amongst both patients and practitioners. She went on to run the Strategic Partnerships and Innovations team working across the ecosystem to create and nurture alliances to further the adoption of functional medicine.   TOP QUOTE                                                                                      “Vascular Health Is Foundational Health. Every organ and system in your body relies upon the oxygen, nutrients, and other molecules delivered by your vascular system. Since vascular health underpins overall health, taking care of your vascular health can change your life.”   ---Andie Crosby President of Calroy Health Sciences     Key Takeaways:   ·      Why cardiovascular health is the #1 longevity lever for women—and why it's so often ignored until it's too late ·      The critical role of the endothelial glycocalyx—a microscopic, life-sustaining structure that's ground zero for your vascular integrity, inflammation response, and nutrient delivery ·      How nitric oxide supports energy, sexual vitality, and even skin radiance—and what damages your ability to produce it naturally ·      Simple, science-backed strategies to support heart health proactively, not reactively ·      This is the conversation every woman needs to hear—whether you're optimizing for performance, preventing disease, or simply refusing to age on autopilot.   Resources for a Younger Lifestyle: From now through the end of the year, YOUNGER podcast listeners will get 10% off their order of Arterosil HP for glycocalyx support and Vascanox HP for blood flow support PLUS a free bag of oral microbiome gum for happy smiles and healthy hearts.       The Special Offer Price and the Original Price (do not include for Free Gift offers): $142 special offer; $187 original price plus free gum The link to your Special Offer item for Sale: http://calroy.com/drrobyn   For more YOUNGER Podcast Episodes: https://robynbenson.com/podcasts/   Quotes:   “Your vascular system is the foundation of your overall health. There are 60,000 miles of blood vessels in your body. They supply oxygen and essential nutrients to every organ in your body and carry away toxic waste. If you're looking for a long and healthy life, taking care of your vascular system must be a top priority.”   “Many women are recognizing the importance of physical activity for their cardiovascular health.” “Menopausal Women have greater challenges to maintaining their vascular health due to hormonal shifts.”   “Women preparing for the menopause transition, who would like to live a preventative lifestyle consider eating an anti-inflammatory diet, reducing insulin resistance and visceral fat, incorporating strength, aerobic, and flexibility training as rotation in their weekly exercises, and investing in sleep comfort.”    "The endothelial glycocalyx is really one of the most important and intensely researched areas in human health in years." ---Dr. Kara Fitzgerald

The U.S. dietary guidelines are considered the "gold standard" of nutrition recommendations. But they are failing us. Americans are unhealthier (and more obese) than ever before. Nina Teicholz, the author of "The Big Fat Surprise", explains why they are faulty and based on poor science.   She goes over how the guidelines were chosen, its ties to the American Heart Association, Proctor & Gamble and Crisco. She explains why the emphasis on grains (even refined grains) and low-fat choices have led to sickness. And why saturated fat and sodium consumption are currently "capped" but shouldn't be. Finally, she shares her vision for how the guidelines could be reformed, based on sound science, for improved health outcomes for all Americans.   Visit Nina's websites: ninateicholz.com and nutritioncoalition.us Follow the Wise Traditions podcast on the app of your choice! In the aftermath of the DeepSeek fracas, markets are still on a buy signal, breadth improved as markets came down to kiss the 20-DMA and then rallyed above the 50-DMA, still holding important technical support. Markets were over bought going into yesterday's trading, and the pullback was not unexpected. (This illustrates perfectly the reason for rebalancing risk in portfolios.) Nvidia shouldered most of the impact on Monday, dropping below its 100-DMA, but recovered to close above that level; the stock had a $600-B market cap reduction. The movement is proportional to its size; be careful making knee-jerk reactions to one day events. Apple did well on the expectation that cheaper AI models will help support the company. Apple has earnings announcements due this week, and there could emerge a decent entry point for this stock. Why we trimmed Nvidia and added Proctor & Gamble. Again, this is a prime example of how diversification can protect you from these one-day events. If you're struggling to find a way to make your product or service stand out, maybe it's time to stop being so rational.  To be seen as the better choice, the only choice, you need to do things differently. This week, Mark is joined by the legendary Mark Levy. A mastermind in differentiation and branding, he's worked with leaders, strategists and teams in organizations from Amazon and Google to American Express and Proctor & Gamble. We dive into his revolutionary five-step process for standing out, including how to mix the rational and emotional into a powerhouse of branding and sales strategies.  Here are some of the topics they discuss in this episode: Why the rational only stays one or two percentage points to the right or left of what already exists How major entrepreneurs operate by a logic that would never be okayed by a committee To be a leader, you have to do something different than other people are doing Why effective differentiation is not just about being different but being relevant and valuable to the target audience. Why the way to differentiate might not be as sophisticated as you think Do you know what your sacred cows are? Why you may need to get a little uncomfortable if you want to stand out  Why it's not just about the idea but also the ability, urgency, and vision to actualize it Why you need to talk about it, get people excited and show how it can help in their lives How finding your differentiation can start by just listing the facts about your business How trying to find the right answer can shut down our ability to think in interesting ways   Follow Mark: LinkedIn: https://hi.switchy.io/markdrager Instagram:  https://hi.switchy.io/KcKi Want more free tools? Welcome to a brand new year! To kick off the beginning of 2024, our host, Teresa Palacios Smith, met with three incredible trailblazing leaders: Jan Baker, Pam O'Connor, and Vicky Silvano. They discuss their journeys, how they overcome obstacles in the industry, and mentorship. Meet the Leaders Jan Baker - Senior Vice President & Regional Vice President, Northeast Region, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties Pam O'Connor -  Retired, Past President & CEO, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® (LeadingRE) Vicky Silvano - Broker-Associate, REAL Broker, LLC' 2016 National Chair & President of the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) The Leaders' Journeys Vicky's marketing skills from working with Proctor & Gamble helped her begin her real estate career. She still works as a realtor serving clients, but she also serves agents from the local to the international level. After a career as a school teacher, her path shifted when she became a mother. Jan fell in love with being a real estate agent the moment she took her first class and has found her passion and many amazing personal connections. Pam's career in real estate began when she joined a real estate network. Though she loved the work, she worked in PR for many years. She returned to real estate because she enjoyed it so much! Overcoming Obstacles in the Industry Pam: Realtors have a responsibility to educate people on what agents actually do. Help buyers and sellers understand how agents can help them and how they help the community overall. Vicky: We have to evolve with the times. Skilled, knowledgeable realtors will be successful during this time. Do not stop learning so that you can offer value to clients. Jan: Being open-minded and willing to make changes is so important, but we also have to ignore some of the noise we hear - we are responsible for being on the ground with an awareness of how the industry is, and continue to defend it and build it up. Mentorship and Sponsorship Jan: Take inspiration from others, even if you can't find a mentor to work with. Jan is inspired by many women. One of her mentors/inspirations is Toni McGowan. Pam: People like to be asked for help! If there's someone you respect, just ask them out for coffee and just see what you can learn. Vicky: She had doors opened for her by Nancy Suvarnamani and Elizabeth Mendel-Hall, to name a couple. She says, “Your network is your net worth.” Favorite Quote Jan: “You're not better than anybody, but you're as good as anybody.” Vicky: “She who humbles herself shall be exalted, and she who humbles herself shall be humbled.” Pam: “I think if the world can be saved, it will be by women,” and, “The woman's mission is not to enhance the masculine spirit, but to express the feminine. Hers is not to preserve a man-made world, but to create a human world.” When you help another woman rise, we all shine. And that's how we make an impact. So, let's build each other up and shine brighter than the sun. On the recent Procter & Gamble (PG) Earnings Call, CEO Jon Moeller provided an upbeat summary of the company's status, citing consistent organic sales growth, accelerated volume in key markets, and increased market shares as chief indicators of the company's prosperity. These updates, although encouraging, might trigger the need to delve into more detail to unpack the true standing of this well-established enterprise. Procter & Gamble's performance recently has been underpinned by the solid market position it enjoys, its consistent pursuit of innovation, and sustained growth. The company's robust sales figures and the rising dominance in the market share have led P&G to revise their core earnings per share outlook in a positive direction, boosting investor confidence. The bedrock of Proctor & Gamble's prosperity arguably relies on their innovative prowess in product development coupled with a comprehensive brand building strategy. The company's creative endeavours have resulted in a slew of new offerings such as Charmin Ultra Soft Smooth, GilletteLabs razor, Dawn Power Wash, Fairy Power Spray, Swan Personal Care, and Head & Shoulders BARE, which have significantly powered their growth trajectory. Procter & Gamble's investment compass is directed toward a balanced portfolio that includes innovation, brand building and expansions in diverse product categories. Not to be overlooked, consumer trends have been moving in a direction that favors the initiatives and offerings of Procter & Gamble. Even though P&G has been grappling with market challenges encompassing boycotts and other local market irregularities in places like China, they have noticed a steady rise in consumer sentiment where their products are concerned, especially in the areas of oral care, personal health care, and hair care. In charting their path forward, Procter & Gamble is poised to lean heavily into their established strategy of complementing product innovation with brand communication. The company is unabashedly committed to pouring resources into innovation and productivity enhancement, constructive disruption, initiatives to preserve the environment, and developing digital proficiency. This focus on innovation is matched with an equal commitment to investment along with an emphasis on targeting pivotal markets, increased marketing spend, and collaboration with key retailers, all of which point to a reasonably positive future growth scenario. In conclusion, any analysis of Procter & Gamble's recent earnings call would reveal the firm's solid financial status, an enticing array of innovative products and comprehensive strategic initiatives. The company displays an enviable agility to adapt to consumer trends and clearly articulate future growth strategies, characteristics that undoubtedly give Procter & Gamble a unique edge in the competitive marketplace. While staying committed to innovation and investment, the future appears cautiously optimistic for P&G, as indicated by the firm's own projections and market responsiveness. Three Key Steps in Constructing the Startup Asset Class  One fundamental building block to startup investing is defining the sectors and technologies that will fit your organization's definition of a startup asset class. A second critical step involves creating an education program to explain the purpose, risks, diversification, time horizon, and expected returns in a portfolio of early-stage technology companies.  But what can catalyze the growth of your startup investing and the ecosystem is tapping into state funding to support innovation and economic development.  But as many angel investor groups have discovered, it's not as straightforward as it seems. Among the challenges, you will need to identify the appropriate channels, define clear strategies, and maintain effective oversight. We're not just talking about funding here; we're discussing the art of kindling an entrepreneurial spirit that can sustain and grow an ecosystem. In this podcast, we review how the Queen City Angels partnered with the Ohio Third Frontier Program to support the growth of a vibrant startup community. Local universities, such as the University of Cincinnati, and public corporations, such as Kroger, Proctor & Gamble, and Fifth Third Bank, made major commitments to the support and vitality of the startup community.

Robyn Bolton is the Founder and Chief Navigator of MileZero, a consultancy that helps companies fuel innovation in their culture and products. As an expert in product strategy and innovation, she has worked with Nike, Nestlé, The Cable Center, Medtronic, Ariadne Labs, and Alexion, among many other leading names. Robyn's prior experience includes nearly a decade at Innosight, as Brand Manager at Proctor & Gamble, and as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group. Additionally, she has written for Forbes and Harvard Business Review and has been featured in The New York Times and NPR Marketplace. In this episode… Companies want their operations to be efficient, but they also want to be innovative industry leaders. Combining both these ideals can be challenging. Frequently innovation takes a back seat to the status quo of smooth operations. So how can leaders foster creative ideas within their organizations to stay ahead of the industry curve? This process is far easier said than done, with many converging reasons that keep innovation at bay. Great ideas are rarely given the proper consideration or the support they need to become something extraordinary. Robyn Bolton is an experienced consultant who has worked with countless leading brands, pointing them along the path toward innovation. According to Robyn, a lack of innovative ideas in your organization is due to a problem within the company's leadership. Leaders don't always realize that a culture that accepts new ideas doesn't exist within the company. In this episode of Next Wave Leadership, Robyn Bolton, the Founder and Chief Navigator at MileZero, returns to talk with Dov Pollack to break down innovation within the company structure and how it's a team sport. They touch on key leadership concepts and how they affect innovation, creating a culture that's conducive to fresh ideas, and why it's important to give accurate feedback early on in the process. Robyn also discusses essential questions that can create a positive impact throughout your company.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to siblings Stan Warnow and Deborah Scott Studebaker whose father was the composer, musician, innovator, band leader and inventor Raymond Scott. While you may not know the name Raymond Scott, you absolutely know his music. That's because while he may not have composed for cartoons, his music is the DNA of most if not all, Looney Toons & Merry Melodies Warner Bros. cartoons. Believe me, you know the song “Powerhouse” & “The Toy Trumpet”.Now if that's all Raymond Scott was known for, that would be a pretty great legacy. But he also composed for big bands, recorded jingles for the likes of Proctor & Gamble and Hamm's Beer, was the orchestra leader on the radio and television show “Your Hit Parade”,  invented the Clavinex & Electronium (precursors to the modern synthesizer) and much more. He was a man more comfortable with “the work”, than the fame or celebrity that came along with it. He was happier in his workroom than he was on camera. So exacting was his vision that he often alienated musicians and singers with his demanding ways. Yet his genius was hard to overlook as none other than Barry Gordy of Motown hired him in 1971 after seeing the Electronium in action to become the Director of Motown's electronic music and research department in Los Angeles. The man had ten careers or perhaps only two, as Deb explains. We also talk about to Deb about her mother, entertainer Dorothy Collins who was a nightclub performer, starred on Broadway in Steven Sondheim's Follies and on television on Candid Camera & Hollywood Palace among others. It's a wild ride discussing the very earliest electronic music, the music that defined all of our youth, and a man so driven by his passion, he essentially invented the fax machine decades before it became a reality. Enjoy, the latest episode of Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

Building an audience is an old strategy in marketing. Did you know that Proctor & Gamble created soap operas so they could build an audience to buy their soap? That's right. In the 1930s, P&G sponsored daytime serial dramas on the radio to advertise their products to housewives. Why? Because research suggested that women wanted to be entertained while doing housework. And so, literal “soap operas” were born. In the early to mid-20th century, Edward Bernays — long considered the “father of public relations” — also built audiences on behalf of his clientele, which coincidentally included P&G. The Conversation reports that “to counteract President Coolidge's stiff image, Bernays organized ‘pancake breakfasts' and White House concerts with Al Jolson and other Broadway performers.” Knowing that such events would garner significant media attention and ingratiate Coolidge with new social circles, Bernays provided an opportunity to “control and regiment the masses” in Coolidge's favor. Who can say no to a pancake breakfast? Building an audience is as important now as it was then. We just have more tools at our disposal: From YouTube videos to blog posts and social media campaigns, there are more ways than ever to reach millions of people with your own content. Podcasting is one of the most powerful ways to reach people. Privately held distributors often stifle growth by confining information to the C-suite. John Cain, president of Wiseway Supply, a plumbing and electrical supplier based out of the Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky area, is passionate about sharing intelligence with folks inside his organization and out. Jason chats with John about transparency as a precursor to innovation, the value of external perspectives, and punching above the company's weight class.  John can thank his outside experience for Wiseway's success. After college, he opted for a stint with Proctor & Gamble rather than a job in the family biz. That opportunity informed his willingness to consider perspectives beyond Wiseway's walls. For example, while the company is proud of its track record for promoting from within, outside hires are essential. Their DNA sparks creativity that ignites the entire organization.  Everyone within Wiseway contributes to the game plan; nothing is hidden. John: “[Branch managers] get the whole P and L. They see everything from top to bottom instead of the blind being asked to blindly lead the company.” CONNECT WITH JASON LinkedIn CONNECT WITH JOHN LinkedIn *** Distribution Talk is produced by The Distribution Team, a consulting services firm dedicated to helping wholesale distribution clients remove barriers to profitability, generate wealth and achieve personal goals.    This episode was edited & mixed by The Creative Impostor Studios.  https://www.distributionteam.com Special thanks to our sponsor for this episode: INxSQL Distribution Software, integrated distribution ERP software designed for the wholesale and distribution industry. *** For full show notes and services visit: https://www.distributionteam.com

Shauna Shapiro is a professor, author, and internationally recognized expert in mindfulness and compassion. Dr. Shapiro is the author of Good Morning, I Love You. She has been an invited speaker for the King of Thailand, the Danish government, Bhutan's Gross National Happiness Summit, the Canadian government, and the World Council for Psychotherapy, as well as for Fortune 100 companies including Google, Cisco Systems, Proctor & Gamble, and Genentech.  The New York Times, BBC, Mashable, the Huffington Post, Wired, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal have all featured her work, and nearly three million people have watched her TEDx talk “The Power of Mindfulness.” Dr. Shapiro is a summa cum laude graduate of Duke University and a fellow of the Mind and Life Institute, co-founded by the Dalai Lama. Introducing Shauna Shapiro What problem do you solve? She's going to solve two problems for CHARGERS today. Shauna will solve your wandering mind which is when your life is on autopilot and you can't focus or concentrate. She will help you find more compassion for yourself and treat yourself with kindness. Show Notes: When you make a mistake and shame yourself it shuts down the learning centers of your brain. You get stuck in the habit patterns you're trying to change. Self-compassion releases dopamine which turns on the learning centers of the brain and activates motivation. It gives you the strength and courage to move forward. A failed habit is just learning ways that don't work for you. Whatever you practice grows stronger. It is natural for your mind to wander. The key is discipline and compassion. They go hand in hand together. Mindfulness is a way of being present and focusing moment by moment. Mediation is the exercise or practice you do to train your mindfulness. Mindfulness has a lot of great benefits like reducing stress, strengthening your immune system, and improving your sleep quality. Mindfulness can decrease bias and increase decision-making and compassion. The first step to meditation practice is knowing your intention. Why are you doing it? Why is it important? The second thing is knowing when you are going to do it. She recommends doing it first thing in the morning or right before bed. The third thing is to set ridiculously unambitious goals. Start small and meditate for a minute or five. Then work up to more. Finally, be kind to yourself. Recognize that you can begin again in any moment. Adjust, pause, contact your body and mind, and begin again. Know that there is a science behind mindfulness. It's never too late to change. Begin. Practice makes change. Shauna Shapiro's Recharge Round What habit do you think has led to success in your life? Shauna's biggest habit is the 'Good Morning, I Love You' practice. She wakes up, puts her hand on her heart, and treats herself with kindness. If you had one do-over, what would it be? She would've stated how important it was to be on her own team and been a friend to herself sooner.
