Even though I am known as a time Nazi who keeps events on schedule. How can these two things happen together Why then, am I usually not only on time to things but a little early? Because I have been time hurt. It's that simple. Are you chronically behind? In the habit of sending texts to people that you are going to need another five minutes? Or fifteen? Do you constantly explain to people why you didn't make it on time? If so, then today is for you. Today might be hard to hear. But do you want to build success in your life? Then bear with me as we break this down. Eric's Meeting Story But the core issue is bigger. It is the GREAT LIE. “I'm late because my sheep got out and I had to chase them back in.” is MAYBE a reason, MAYBE true, but is not the whole picture is it? When you are willing to step back and see the whole picture, we often find that the reason something caused us to “be late” is less to do about the thing that happened and more to do with us. One of the most powerful words in the English language is NO. One of the things business owners need to learn to say most often is NO. In fact, if you are running your family schedule, or even still at a JOB, the word NO is how you start being on time more often. Why? Because NO is the way that you build time into your schedule to properly handle things, build in a travel buffer, have mostly interruption free meetings, and, generally, start being on time. Being on time to something means you have while heartedly said YES to it. You are aware it exists. You have made the time. And you have said NO to many other things to make it happen. So how do we change as a chronically late person? Why do you think I said no to every speaking engagement for dang near 8 months? Because I was going to disappoint people by saying yes then not showing up the way I needed to. In fact, I was already disappointing people when I realized what was happening last year. So I got good at NO. No is your number one relationship protection tool. And are you a people pleaser? You are? Yah I know that - it takes one to know one. We say yes to everything and think that no will hurt feelings. Know what hurts feelings more destructively over time? Being late. But if you are always late? That my friend is a symptom. It can be a sympton of great things, like growth. But it is also a sympton that warrents attention. Because if you are growing and you are always late, your next phase is complete burn out if you dont learn no. So go out there and show us you can do it. You can do the most important things and say no to the nonsense. Make it a great week! GUYS! Don't forget about the cookbook, Cook With What You Have by Nicole Sauce and Mama Sauce. Host: Amy Mills & Nancy StraussTOPICS: Bring Your Lifebook to Life!
This was another fantastic episode in the books. I had the great pleasure of having Amitty Cooper on my show to discuss all things involving entrepreneur! Amity Cooper is a trained mental health professional, Lifebook facilitator, and entrepreneurial coach, whose mission is to empower others to live their lives fully and authentically. After 18-years in the business world, creating and designing products and services for both herself and others, she had come to a crossroads. Exhaustion had set in and her life, as she had known it, was falling apart. Waking up to the realization that she was living a life that was unfulfilling and unsatisfying, she went on a quest; holing herself up to do the deep work and healing she needed to get her mind, body, and spirit aligned. Through a series of unfortunate or fortuitous events, (depending on how you look at it) Amity gave herself permission to ‘re-do her life plan'. During that journey inwards, Amity discovered that what she loved most was working with people to help them discover their true North Star coordinates. Amity returned to school for a second master's degree in mental health counseling and stepped into the arena to become a trained equine-assisted psychotherapist while incorporating all her entrepreneurial know-how to help other in-service professionals uncover and reach their full potential in life. Amity continues to pursue her passions–traveling the world and spending days alongside her equine partners Steely Rose and Admiral, and surrounding herself with a special group of entrepreneurs, healers, and innovators, who feel the call to help and serve others, live abundantly, and who have opted into living fully present to each and every moment that arises. Drawing from his decades of international experience, Brandt explores the concept of “tzadikim” (righteous leaders) working collaboratively across seven societal spheres to bring about systemic change. He shares inspiring examples from cities like Abidjan, Denver, and Worcester, where Christians are moving beyond individual focus to create tangible improvements in education, healthcare, economic mobility, and community development, ultimately demonstrating that the gospel is both proclaimed and lived. "Valuable Insights Into Living Your Best Life"
The last Deep Dive in the 3 episode overview of Paul's book "Take Control of Your Life." In this series you'll discover: Nadeau's Principles and Techniques for Reclaiming Control Nadeau emphasizes that reclaiming control over thoughts and actions begins with awareness: ● Recognizing that negative thoughts can "take you hostage" mentally1 and understanding the difference between being physically held hostage and being hostage to your own thoughts1. ● Engaging in regular self-examination to understand your mental state, identifying what brings you happiness or unhappiness, and assessing your values, motivations, and fears23. Once you are aware of negative thought patterns, you can use the following techniques to reclaim control: ● Developing a SEEMP (Self-Empowering and -Enabling Management Plan)4. Similar to an emergency management plan, a SEEMP helps you to systematically identify, mitigate, prepare for, and recover from negative thoughts and setbacks45. ○ Conduct a personal SWOT analysis to identify your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats6. ○Find ways to deal with negative thoughts and prevent them from "settling in," such as exercise, reading, spending time in nature, etc.6. ● Change negative associations to positive ones. By consciously replacing negative self-talk with positive affirmations, you can shift your perception of challenging situations and develop the motivation to take positive action78. ○ Reframe painful experiences by focusing on the pleasure associated with taking positive action78. ● Challenge negative beliefs and replace them with empowering ones. Nadeau encourages you to see yourself as "limitless" and capable of achieving your goals910. ○ Identify limiting beliefs that keep you feeling helpless and replace them with thoughts and actions that promote success11. ○Use affirmations to shift your mindset and remind yourself of your strength and worthiness12. Nadeau argues that taking action is crucial for escaping negative thought patterns and achieving your goals: ● Don't dwell on the past. Acknowledge past experiences but focus on the present moment and the choices you can make to create a positive future1314. ● Make a conscious decision to change. Identify areas in your life that you want to improve and commit to taking specific, directed action151617. ● Develop positive habits. Consistent effort and action, even in small steps, are essential for achieving lasting change1819. ● Be persistent and adaptable. Accept that setbacks and failures are part of the process and be willing to adjust your approach as needed1719. Nadeau also emphasizes the importance of gratitude and faith in maintaining a positive mindset: ● Cultivating gratitude helps shift focus from what is lacking to the abundance already present in life20. ● Having faith can provide strength and resilience during challenging times, allowing you to persevere towards your goals21. By implementing these principles and techniques, you can move beyond self-sabotaging behaviors, reclaim control over your thoughts and actions, and live a more fulfilling life22. Now, as a trained therapist, equine-assisted psychotherapist, and Lifebook facilitator, she is focused on empowering other mental and behavioral health professionals to serve their clients without burning themselves out by becoming what she calls “therapreneurs.” She does this through her professional development company Clinical Career Collective (C3) and her Do This First 7-Day Bootcamp by not only teaching therapreneurs how to run their own businesses, but also how to embrace new, emerging technology in this post-pandemic world so they can better help the people they serve. Amity hosted the virtual event Virtually Unlimited… The Healing Entrepreneurship Summit (with Mike Michalowicz as the keynote speaker) where she and other professionals spoke about the advantages of adapting new technologies for a modern mental health practice. A lover of travel, Amity splits her time between Denver, Colorado and San Diego, California with her husband, two kids, two horses, and their English Shepherd, Beau. https://Art2Life.com - In this special throwback episode of Art2Life, we revisit one of our most beloved conversations with award-winning art critic Jerry Saltz. Making art is hard enough, but hearing from others whether it is good or not is especially so. Every artist I know already has, hard-wired within them, a pretty tough critic. I certainly do. So I never have been particularly drawn to listening to more of them. I know, of course, art criticism is essential in the art world. I get all that, but truthfully, I have always been a little leery of outside criticism in case it made me stop making art. It feels safer to hear more from those who are actually making art. They were the ones I thought whose voices mattered. At least for me. But today you are going to meet an art critic. But not the kind I imagined. Not at all. His name is Jerry Saltz. He is the Pulitzer Prize-winning, senior art critic and columnist for New York Magazine. He has a bajillion followers on Instagram and is a New York Times bestselling author. He also cares a ton about art and especially artists. Which isn't surprising because he was one. He switched mid-career because, ironically, his inner critic wouldn't leave him alone, and it all became too much. Jerry is whip-smart, funny, and at times, daringly truthful. But this is what I love about him: he just tells the truth. Or rather his truth. That is rare these days. Jerry is the artist's art critic. He is so on our side and wants nothing more for us than to simply stay together and above all else, to keep making our art. Join me now for this startlingly vulnerable and caring conversation about art and life with one of the most revered voices in the art world: Jerry Saltz. ================================ LISTEN IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN… How Jerry became a bestselling author and why you need to read his books [3:19] Becoming a different kind of artist and recognizing the respect in art criticism [15:05] Why artists need one another [25:48] Making an enemy of envy and why we need to just keep making our art [32:01] Where Jerry feels the art world is heading [39:15] Jerry's advice for artists when they receive criticism and the time Jerry criticized my work [46:47] ================================= CONNECT WITH JERRY SALTZ Jerry's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jerrysaltz/ Riverhead Book's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/riverheadbooks Art is Life (Book): https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/612485/art-is-life-by-jerry-saltz/ How to Be an Artist (Book): https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/612484/how-to-be-an-artist-by-jerry-saltz/9780593086469/ ============================= CONNECT WITH NICHOLAS WILTON AND ART2LIFE: Get the Free COLOR TIPS PDF: https://workshop.art2life.com/color-tips-pdf-podcasts/ Follow the Sunday Art2Life Vlog: https://art2life.lpages.co/sign-up-for-the-a2l-vlog/ Follow Nicholas Wilton's Art on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nicholaswilton/ Follow Art2Life on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/art2life_world/?hl=en Subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/Art2Life
