A Mariele conheceu o Rafael e foi amor à primeira vista. Eles começaram a namorar e ela ficou grávida. Eles moraram juntos até o filho completar 3 anos, quando Rafael se envolveu com drogas e acabou sendo preso. Apesar das dificuldades, Mariele decidiu permanecer ao seu lado, visitando seu marido por mais de 10 anos na prisão. Mas na pandemia, as visitas foram proibidas e ela se permitiu conhecer outra pessoa. Ela começou a sair com alguém, mas não deu certo por ele ser abusivo e afetar a sua saúde mental. Rafael saiu da prisão e ela se sentiu culpada por não ter esperado ele. Os dois se reencontraram e Mariele percebeu que ainda o amava e decidiu tentar de novo. Rafael a perdoou e hoje eles se sentem mais fortes por terem recomeçado.

El Código Hays fue una normativa estadounidense, que estuvo en vigor desde 1930 hasta 1967, en la que se definían unas reglas que dictaban qué era considerado moralmente aceptable y qué no, qué se podía ver en la gran pantalla y qué no. Por ejemplo, los crímenes debían ser mostrados de una forma poco precisa, para que el espectador no pudiera imitarlos, como el asesinato o la perforación de cajas fuertes. Las figuras religiosas no se podían mostrar como personas capaces de cometer un crimen o de formar parte de un grupo impuro. El código, como no, también imponía normas sobre la sexualidad, con el objetivo de preservar la sagrada institución del matrimonio: no se podía mostrar el adulterio como algo atractivo, y no se podían incluir escenas de pasión en una trama, salvo que estas fueran indispensables. Incluso se prohibió mostrar bailes que sugirieran actos pasionales calificados como indecentes. Entre muchísimas otras guías y prohibiciones. Este código restringió, inevitablemente, tanto los temas de las películas como la forma en que estos se trataban, llevando a productores y directores a la autocensura. Es cierto que la implementación del Código Hays y la necesidad de ajustarse a las restricciones impuestas propició la creación de nuevos géneros, como la comedia y el western, pero dirigió en exceso los formatos y contenidos de las películas, llevando a la industria a ser más homogénea. When we set out to talk to Mariele, the founder and jewelry maker behind Young in the Mountains (and also the rockstar woman who created Shaunna's wedding ring), we had no idea what a treasure trove our conversation would be. We knew she was talented, but listening to her talk we found ourselves furiously taking notes and getting so worked up we could hardly sit still. Mariele tells us the fascinating story of how Young in the Mountains came to be (even her business title has a beautiful backstory), the work it took mine and source natural stone, to get her here, running retail stores, managing wholesale lines, managing her full time team, and yes, still finding some time to make her one of a kind pieces. We loved hearing her perspectives on social media, on how to foster the team surrounding her, and building a brand around something bigger than simply herself.
