Former President Trump announced that he will create a government efficiency commission led by Elon Musk. Let's not forget that “government efficiency” is an oxymoron. Government can't rationally economize, like the rest of us. Its decisions are made politically, and not by profits and losses. We don't voluntarily give our money to the government. It takes our money by force. So while government can never be “efficient," it can be, and should be, a lot smaller and less of a burden on us.

Today opens with a new game we can all play together. I play a soundbite from Kamala Harris and you have to guess the age of the audience to whom she is addressing. It's a lot of fun. However, there isn't a lot of variety. Once you know the answer to one situation, you pretty much have the answer for all of them. Then I circle back to earlier in the week with my thoughts on why would Mark Zuckerberg decide to send that letter to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chair of the Weaponization Committee. I think we are seeing the result of Facebook feeling they have been living under a Mafia-style protection racket for too long. We then continue our analysis of how people who should be intelligent enough to know Kamala Harris is the current Vice President, still seem to think she's never been in office before in her life. Today, we use actor Ben Stiller as the most recent example. He is a living version of an oxymoron. The emotional support animal to Harris, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) wants you to believe they are going to lower taxes for the vast majority of Americans, while sticking it to the corporations, since they are all doing “just fine.” So, I take a look at Walz's fiscal record since being elected to run his state. It's abysmal. Plus, the more you tax corporations, the more it hurts the average American. I take a moment to address the dual-interview tonight between Harris and Walz on CNN. The media is bending over backwards to make it look like every team running for the White House has done a tandem interview. Yes, that's true. But, in over 20 years, none of them did that for their first interview. The Presidential nominee always had several solo outings first. ABC News reports they are not going to change the debate rules for Harris. They are going to keep the same ones they had agreed to when Biden was still the elected nominee. We move to a situation in the Sanctuary city of Denver, CO and how it is spilling into nearby Aurora. It seems Venezuelan gangs are taking over whole apartment buildings and crime is growing out of hand. We hear from Councilwoman Danielle Jurinksy about it and concerns from her constituents. Similarly, an independent journalist discovered three hotels on the same street in the Bronx, NY are all being secretly turned into migrant shelters. As she was recording, several moving trucks arrived with brand new furniture to give to the illegals. I then spend some time illustrating the different between gross profits and the net. It's a concept many don't really understand, which allows politicians to use that ignorance to their advantage. This leads to word today that Dollar General stock had dropped more than 26%, prompting the CEO to address the fall off. He said their core customer are “financially constrained.” For some reason, this reminds me of the parallels in the plot line of The Lion King. Remember what happened when someone stepped into the kingship who didn't earn it? Finally, we get a great sound bite from RFK, Jr's selection for VP, Nicole Shanahan. Once again we have a left-leaning person who admits she had been completely misinformed about what “MAGA” really is. She comments that the “coming together of these two groups over the last week...has been really glorious.” Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. #273 - Cómo profesionalizar una empresa, con Pablo Lamas

Wizards Of Ecom (En Español)

Instagram: @pablotlamas

We all want to believe that there's a magic formula out there, a perfect diet that will allow us to effortlessly shed fat, build muscle, and maintain our dream physique, all while enjoying our favorite foods and never feeling like we're missing out.But here's the harsh reality: dieting, by its very nature, is not sustainable. And anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying to you, or lying to themselves.Find out a different approach on today's Quick Wits.--“Quick Wits” are short mini-episodes between full episodes to give you an actionable strategy or hit of motivation. If you enjoy these bonus episodes or have feedback on how to make them better, just send me a text message.

Over the last year or so, I have noticed more and more the ease with which we roll into cultural “norms”. With that in mind, there are a few topics I thought it could be interesting to dip into. After all, as Christians, we should be be looking at culture with a Biblical world view. That's not to say we should be judgy. I simply assert that we SHOULD be applying Biblical principles and a Biblical mindset to the culture we are so deeply entrenched in. So. Here we are opening up this conversation with a bang. I'm back with my incredible friend and sister-in-law to discuss…. Yoga. After pulling out some research and sharing some amazing testimonies, we are excited to share what we found about the origins of yoga. Our goal today is to shed light and provide some context around our own convictions! We hope to share a Biblical perspective for what is easily considered a cultural norm. Join us today as we dive in to yoga and even a few other bonus topics (free of charge, ha)!

Listen now (2 mins) | Let me be blunt: The problem with today’s Supreme Court is that it consists of too many 5-watt bulbs sitting in 100-watt sockets. While most of the nine members are assumed to be brilliant, “smart” is as smart does, and this court’s right-wing majority wallows in stupid, consistently pushing plutocracy, autocracy, and theocracy over the democratic will of the people. Compounding this stupidity, many of the judges have flagrantly accepted “gifts” of cash, luxury vacations, and other freebies from the corporate and right-wing interests that have benefitted from the Court’s rulings. Yet, caught red-handed, the narcissistic jurists assert that We the People should just trust their integrity.

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for August 29, 2023 is: oxymoron • ahk-sih-MOR-ahn • noun An oxymoron is a combination of words that have opposite or very different meanings, such as “cruel kindness” or “open secret.” In broader usage, oxymoron can also refer to something (such as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements. // Her favorite Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet, is filled with clever wordplay, including oxymorons such as “sweet sorrow” and “heavy lightness.” See the entry > Examples: “Until now I thought ‘enjoyable science book' was an oxymoron. [Author, Katie] Spalding proved me wrong. I learned a lot and had fun doing it. Turns out a spoonful of snark helps the factoids go down—in a most delightful way.” — Curt Schleier, The Star Tribune (Minneapolis, Minnesota), 19 May 2023 Did you know? The ancient Greeks exhaustively classified the elements of rhetoric, or effective speech and writing, and gave the name oxymoron—literally "pointed foolishness"—to the deliberate juxtaposing of seemingly contradictory words. The roots of oxymoron, oxys meaning "sharp" or "keen," and mōros meaning "foolish," are nearly antonyms themselves, making oxymoron nicely self-descriptive. Oxymoron originally applied to a meaningful paradox condensed into a couple of words, as in "precious bane," "lonely crowd," or "sweet sorrow." Today, however, what is commonly cited as an oxymoron is often simply a curiosity of language, where one or both elements have multiple meanings (shrimp in "jumbo shrimp" doesn't mean "small"; it refers to a sea creature), or a phrase whose elements seem antithetical in spirit, such as "organized chaos."
