Christiane Amanpour is chief international anchor of CNN's flagship global affairs program “Amanpour,” which airs weekdays on CNN International and nightly on PBS in the United States. She is also host of “The Amanpour Hour,” and is based in the network's London bureau. Beginning in 1983 as an entry-level assistant on the international assignment desk at CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, Amanpour rose through the organization becoming a reporter at the New York bureau, and later, the network's leading international correspondent. On the ground during the siege of Sarajevo, Amanpour exposed the brutality of the Bosnian War, reporting on the daily tragedy of life for civilians in the city. She was outspoken, calling out the human rights abuses, massacres and genocide committed against the Bosnian Moslems, later saying “There are some situations one simply cannot be neutral about, because when you are neutral you are an accomplice.” Throughout her time at CNN, Amanpour has secured exclusive interviews with global power players. In the wake of the September 11 attacks she was the first international correspondent to interview British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. During the height of the Arab Spring she conducted an Emmy-winning interview with Libya's former leader ‘Colonel' Moammar Gadhafi, and she was also the last journalist to interview Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak just before he was deposed. In January 2014, Amanpour also exclusively broke the news of a dossier of testimony and photographs which alleged to show systematic torture of prisoners by government forces in Syria, evidence she used to confront Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev about his government's support for the Assad regime. In addition to her work as an anchor and reporter, Amanpour is an active rights campaigner. A board member of the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Centre for Public Integrity and the International Women's Media Foundation, she has used her profile to raise awareness of key global issues and journalists' rights. She has interviewed educational rights activist Malala Yousafzai for CNN on several occasions – bringing focus to her courage and international advocacy work. Amanpour has earned 16 News and Documentary Emmy Awards, four Peabody Awards, two George Polk Awards, three duPont-Columbia Awards and the IWMF's Courage in Journalism Award. She has received nine honorary degrees, is an honorary citizen of Sarajevo, and a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Freedom of the Press and the Safety of Journalists. We humans are greatly influenced by our environment, and when the brokenness inside us connects with the brokenness in the world, it can lead to devastation. Thankfully, God's Word creates faith in our hearts which connects us to Jesus, who saves us and transforms us to become more like him from the inside out. (Based on 2 Timothy 3:1-17.)
If you dig that opening hook, that is Marcus Rogers, "Best Life", please buy his music. Yes! You are in! We are getting Real and Pursuing Truth. Going through some tough times? Welcome to the club. An agnostic makes the play of the day, yeah you heard that right, atheists and agnostics have made the plays of the days. Personally, I love it when secular points to Truth and the bigger picture. Here you go...Right on! As much as we may not like resistance, it can serve a purpose. That Play of the Day came from the Adam Carolla podcast. Not his first play on this platform. Like I said, I have no problem using secular when it points to Truth and the bigger picture. The guest is Joel Lambert, former Navy Seal. Oh side note, this an independent podcast. When it comes to politics and the bigger picture, one of the best pieces of advice came from one pastor Named Kenton Beshore of Mariners Church in Orange County, CA. He said if a church chooses a side (in this case Democrats and Republicans) you put a wall to the other side. John 16:33New International Version33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”Avid listener, you know I've brought this up many times. The Greatest in the Bible went through the hardest times. Do you want to be the greatest? Maybe not. If you want to be part of the greatest, you are going to understand this. Let's go to science for a bit. How do you get stronger? Physically? Mentally? How do you run a marathon or get a PHD? A lot of resistance. I am convinced the anxiety and depression that plagues this nation has a lot to do with avoiding resistance. Wanting or getting things handed to us. Ferverent prayers, you know that you don't get everything you pray/ask. Well, you do, just not the way you expect. Yes, I know the verse of what you ask you get. I believe God is much more concerned about your and my character than comfort.Side note, I'm still being refined, especially economically. Hasn't come easy. I'm not a super wealthy man, monetarily. Maybe that's to keep me humble. So I owe and off to work I go.How about you? Are you striving for more comfort or strength? Hey, I don't blame you for going for comfort. I've done the same. Yet the wise want stronger. Stronger in the Word. Stronger in the Lord. Stronger in the mind and heart. So be reaffirmed your suffering/resistance has purpose. Jesus was whipped, tortured and nailed to a cross...and it wasn't for nothing...and you benefit from it...if you choose. Romans 8:28New International Version28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. John 3:16 NIV: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.Side note, some of you are enduring or have endured some really hard things. To be clear, I'm not trying to minimize them. I'm not excusing that person or people that hurt you. I am going to encourage you to handle it like Jesus Christ. Hint: what did he say to those people in the peak of his pain on the cross? Victim or Victor. Your choice. Lastly, put your hurts to use and help others. Who better to help someone with cancer than one that knows that battle? Where have you suffered the most? There you go. That is the key to have your heart overflow. Now, go Love
At seven this week's guest, Rikki West, begged a mysterious God for help, praying that her drunk father won't harm their family and that he won't be sent to hell. But when nothing seems to happen, she worried: Is anyone up there really listening? This question triggered a lifelong search for the great, loving being she imagines her prayers might reach. Delving into Catholicism, psychedelics, transcendental meditation, yoga, AA and Buddhist chanting, she explores every available path. She studies genetic science at UC Berkeley and humanities at San Francisco State, combing through the knowledge they offer for answers to the big questions. On this guest episode I was delighted to interview the wonderful Rikki West. She was kind enough to send me a copy of her book, The Empty Bowl, and it was so smoothly and beautifully written I gobbled it up in days! Not only is Rikki a phenomenally talented writer she also has incredible life story. I try not to spoil it and let Rikki share her tale on the show of taking acid in 1960's Berkeley, having dinner at Roman Polanski's house, exploring the line between science & spirituality, surviving a violent rape that brought her face to face with the guilt and denial that shames women into silence, and fueled her addiction, how she has stayed sober for decades, and how losing everything ultimately led to a joyous late-life renaissance. Rikki West is the author of The Empty Bowl: Pursuing Truth in a Messy World, a former spiritual seeker, and a UC Berkeley–trained scientist. She spent decades trying to reconcile scientific explanations of existence with her ordinary, real-life awareness. One adventure at a time, she found her way to a peace and beauty that changed all the questions. Her book Rootlines, a memoir of family healing, was published by She Writes Press in 2020. Mother of Noli and Godmother of Morgan, Rikki loves being outside in the alpine desert of northern New Mexico, where she lives with her wife Jill and that old Yamaha.Learn More About Rikki Here:https://www.rikkiwest.com/

Disentangling Judaism from the Violence of Occupation “The way to manifest your sacredness is to embody sacredness – to treat all life as sacred.”– Rabbi Cat Zavis In this live SAND Community Gathering (October 2024) Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo were in discussion with Rabbi Cat Zavis, a renowned Jewsish teacher, writer, and social justice activist. On September 30th, Patrick Lechleitner, the Director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sent a letter to Congressman Tony Gonzales revealing that over 13,000 convicted murderers and over 15,000 convicted rapists who have been caught by ICE were released into America because of the Biden/Harris catch and release policy, which defies current immigration law. And the corrupt, mainstream media made virtually no mention of it! This episode examines the responsibility of Christians to be light to our culture—to expose what sin wants to cover up and, in particular, to expose the unprecedented suppression of the truth by the corporate media and Democrat Party of what is actually happening at our southern border. For Further Prayerful Thought:What do you think is the biblical case for Christians to advance the kingdom of light by exposing destructive actions that those in the culture are attempting to hide? What two or three facts seem like the strongest evidence of the corporate media's suppression of the truth? Why do you think Christians allow the mainstream media to blind them so much to what is really happening in our culture? What facts about illegal immigration and the open southern border stood out most to you? In view of these facts, what wise question might you ask a believer who naively thinks Christians should support the Democrat's open border catch and release defiance of immigration law? 1You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. 3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 6Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. 9Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
[hosts contributing on this episode: Joey Svendsen and Matt Oxley] Jack Hoey (the father) and Jack Hoey (the son) join Joey and Matt to discuss the likelihood of God's existence, why God doesn't make things more obvious, whether or not people can condition themselves to believe, how dependable the bible is to base meaning of life on, and what stock should be placed on spiritual experiences. While Joey and "the Jacks" consider themselves believers in the Christian faith, Matt is a former fundamentalist Christian now atheist, very familiar with the tenants of faith and traditional beliefs in the Bible. His departure from faith was a very painful season of deconstruction. On this dark, frustrating, broken planet, I love bright Lights. Listener, you are in for a treat! Meet Gerald. Was homeless, down and out and one of the most content people that I have ever met in my life! Why do content? Well, here you go...Thank you again Brother Gerald! As we often say on this podcast, we are in the Hope and Encouragement business. Getting Real. Pursuing Truth. Case in point, 1 Thes 5:11. Avid listener, you know my favorite rhetorical questions. Does this world need more Hope or hopelessness? More Love or hate? Jesus says Love is greatest of all. Jesus speaks very highly of the poor and that for those that can to take care of them Matt 25:40. So those that slam on Jesus, that is what you slam on. And I know, some of you have been burned by hypocrites. Many people that call themselves Christians aren't or they are not doing a very good job at the loving part...see Matt 22:36-40. Welcome back for another episode of T&J! This week we follow up on some of the thoughts and comments that came from last week's episode on the Kingdom of God and the Social Gospel. Marty opens up about being a people pleaser and how this causes struggles, which leads to a discussion on understanding scripture and questioning beliefs. We discuss developing anchors that ground beliefs and question when to openly question doctrine in order to better understand belief systems. We hope you enjoy this honest and transparent discussion on asking questions and seeking truth.
In this episode, Joe dives into the principle of truth and what that really means. He breaks down key concepts in which anybody can really understand how to understand truth.
On today's solo show, we are tackling the topic of "wokeness" and the importance of pursuing truth as a Christian. My perspective on these topics may just surprise you a bit, and will hopefully give you something to mull over this week! What I Chat about in Today's Episode: ~The importance of truth for a Christian; the priority we are given to pursue truth ~The apostle John and how he was very passionate about truth ~How Jesus describing Himself as being THE truth in John 14:6 shows us just how important pursuing and knowing truth is ~Understanding that the truth sets us free (John 8:32): -from sin -from lies -from injustice ~The fact that it is the Spirit's express job to lead us into all truth (John 16:13) ~The importance of us as believers being focused on theological truth in a day in age of relativism and a repackaging of age-old lies about Christ and the nature of salvation (Ephesians 6:14) ~The importance of us as believers being focused on societal truth and understanding what the reality is as to the injustices that exist in this world ~Understanding that because we are specifically tasked with the task of being the hands and feet of Christ and ambassadors of a God Who hates injustice, is a God of righteousness and justice, who is for the oppressed, and whose gospel is good news for the poor, etc., we are to be about the work of getting to the bottom of what the truth is regarding what our fellow image bearers are facing in this world on a daily basis ~The truth that if we are willing to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to claims of injustice and happy to merely label people who are given to fighting injustice as being “woke” we have a problem and are rendered incapable of fulling carrying out our mission in this world ~The original definition of "woke" and where that word came from; what it does and does not mean; how conservatives have redefined it and thereby been able to use it as a weapon ~Helpful Instagram posts that are enlightening in these areas ~Passages of Scripture that repeatedly point to the importance of truth ~And more! Logos is a very abstract and difficult idea to understand. It's present in many ancient philosophies as well as Christianity. One of the confusing aspects is the fact that the definition changes to some degree depending on which philosophy you are talking about. Despite it's complexity (or perhaps because of it), I think an understanding of what Logos is is crucial for the practicing of Stoicism, as it is the spirit of the entire philosophy. No doubt, Jesus is comjing soon! Will we be able to find our way through the minefield of lies this present darkness is saturated in, to finish our race? We will if the truth is in us. More than that, if the LOVE of the truth is in us! But, how can we make sure we are not lying to ourselves about how much our desire to walk in truth, really is? Deana shares out of II Thessalonians chapter 2 to go deeper on a subject, that will determine choices we will make in the future, that could have eternal consequences, if the love of the truth, is not a driving factor in our time on this earth. #inspiration #jesus #lifestyles #wholeness #livingword #bible #biblical #hosanna #worship #jesuschrist #prayer #newinepouring #DeanaBarnes #HolySpirit #prophecy To get an email to join on future webinars/video for Into The Night, or our Furnace Room Meetings (prayer ministry and intercession) go to NeWinePouring@mail.com To co-labor with Deana NeWinePouring.com go to: Donate With PayPal https://newinepouring.com/remnant-nation-radio/remnant/
Finding Joy in the Nativity: 1. You should find joy in pursuing truth.
When Tamara and I first connected and I heard about her podcast "The Recovering Liberal", I thought this should make for a juicy conversation. There is a part of me that loves talking to people with really strong views, to see if we can find some common ground even though we see the world so differently. I also enjoy the "intellectual sparring" part of it, that usually comes with those types of emotionally charged conversations. What I got in this discussion with Tamara was so much better than that though. Rather than an irrational, extremist who thought their view of the world was exactly right, I found myself talking to one of the more rational, humble, and open minded people I've had the pleasure of speaking with on this journey. I know that doesn't always make for all the exciting sound bites and social media buzz, but it does make for a much deeper, more insightful, learning experience. Even more so because Tamara has such a self awareness about her own personal journey, which included struggles with addiction, shifting away from an extreme liberal view point, and ultimately identifying the pursuit of truth as her most important value. The words she uses are " the perspective I bring is quite simply how an ordinary person begins to explore beyond headlines and really understand the heart of these issues, so that they can make more informed decisions for their own lives and choices." I would argue there is actually something quite extraordinary about that approach to life. We covered a lot of ground in this discussion and explored what pursuing the truth looks like for Tamara. We talked about the subjective nature of truth, how having a moral high ground can be dangerous, the difference between liberals and conservatives, and explored some recent political stories (e.g., attack of Nancy Pelosi's husband, January 6th, Tulsi Gabbard etc.). The thing that was consistent throughout the discussion (despite my probing and pressing) was Tamara's consistent approach to be as objective and humble as she could be. Although it wasn't the conversation I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Pursuing Truth in a Culture of Personal Freedom Jesus could have come as many different things; a priest, a revolutionary, maybe a general or emperor but He came as a rabbi, a teacher…a truth teller. Why? He knew that the war He was fighting was not in the world, but rather in our minds. A war on truth. John 8:31-32 records that, “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” As He is teaching about truth, He is simultaneously saying that we are enslaved to false ideas of freedom by looking for truth in the wrong places. We are in bondage to the tyranny of lies that hold our soul's captive to suffering and pain. Jesus has come to set us free with the weapon of truth. And God's concept of freedom always occurs within obedience to God's ways “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” -John 8:31-32 (NLT)- Ethos is a life-giving community committed to keeping Jesus at its Center. We are on a mission to love all people in Jesus' name so that we may all Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, & Make a Difference. About our Guest: Steve Mittwede, PhD, EdSDr. Mittwede is privileged to be a teacher of Earth Science at Randolph School in Huntsville (Rocket City!), Alabama, after having taught at two great classical schools in Texas for the past seven years. Heartily committed to lifelong learning, his most recent degree was an EdS in Educational Leadership from Columbia International University (CIU), following degrees in geology from The College of William and Mary (BS) and the University of South Carolina (MS and PhD), the last two while concurrently working as a full-time mineral resources geologist for the South Carolina Geological Survey. During that time in South Carolina, he married Dana, and they were blessed with four sons in close succession – all now grown, married, and raising their own broods (13 grandchildren and counting!). Steve also has an MA in intercultural studies from CIU and an MTh in theology from Union School of Theology/University of South Wales (UK). With his family, Steve lived for 23 years in Ankara, Turkey where he worked as an educator, academic researcher, consulting geologist, and scientific/technical editor. His main research “squeeze” over the last few years has been the great Peripatetic, Theophrastus, a paragon of scholarly virtues that are especially applicable in science education.Show NotesAdrienne interviews master teacher, Dr. Steve Mittwede on the art of teaching science. As an expert in the classroom, Steve brings practical ideas for teachers to consider for good, truth-driven instruction. He discusses in detail how to help students use good language (grammar mode of the trivium) to help them in habits of attending and defining their observations. We also discuss the truth pursuits around the unity of knowledge and how important this is to the foundation of integerated instruction. If truth is a foundation to classical education, then integrating all the "subjects" together ought to matter! His Three Realms of Knowing is a construct he developed about 20 years ago showing students that everything fits together. Some topics in this episode include: What is a good definition of science? How should science text books be used? What are best practices in the art of teaching science? How to engender conversations for good scientific hypothese Why nature study is critical for good science practices with students How scientific thinking can help us integrate and make connections to all truth and reality. https://Art2Life.com - The beautiful thing about art is that it transports us to new places. One glance and the viewer is instantly invited to experience a world they have never been to before. However, when an artist is just getting started, that invitation can feel unsure or incomplete because they are still, understandably, finding their way. But there are exceptions. Amazingly some extraordinary invitations come from artists relatively early in their careers. From seemingly out of nowhere, someone somewhere in the world puts it all together. Early. Today's guest is Marie Theres Madani. Her recent large paintings stopped me dead in my tracks. Once I saw what she was making, I just wanted more. Maureen McDonnell, BSN and Christiane Northrup, MD discuss practical ways to minimize your health risks & prepare your home for optimal health this Fall & Winter.
In early 2015, after dozens of volunteers worked tirelessly to build a temporary stage, equip a mobile coffee station, and set up a makeshift A/V system, a few hundred neighbors, guests, and well-wishers gathered in a gymnasium to experience the first-ever worship service of a brand new church. Then, two pastors, a husband and wife team, stood up and said, “Welcome to The Story! Our church's mission is to inspire nonreligious Houstonians to follow Jesus...” And so it began. Over the past six years, The Story has inspired thousands of people, and we know that God is just getting started with this community. Where do we see God taking us in the next chapter of our Story? Join us for three exciting messages to learn more about The Story's vision for the future!
In the year 1838, the Jesuits of the Maryland Province sold at least 272 enslaved men, women and children to a plantation owner in Louisiana, in part to provide financial support to Georgetown University, which was struggling at the time. The Jesuits have long been aware of this shameful history, but living Descendants of the 272 enslaved persons have only learned about their ancestors over the past five years thanks to meticulous genealogical research. More than 10,000 living Descendants have been identified since 2016. Two of those Descendants are today's guests: Joe Stewart and Cheryllyn Branche. After learning of their family histories, Joe and Cheryllyn worked together with other Descendants to found the GU 272 Association. The association approached the Jesuits in 2017, looking to dialogue with the Society of Jesus in pursuit of creating a billion-dollar foundation to support racial justice work and educational opportunities for Descendants. Our third guest today is one of the Jesuits who participated in this dialogue process, Fr. Timothy P. Kesicki, SJ, the president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States. These three along with other Descendant leaders and representatives from the Jesuits and Georgetown University went through a years-long dialogue process and arrived at a memorandum of understanding: The Jesuits of the US would contribute $15 million to start the foundation and pledge to fundraise an additional $85 million. The result is the Descendants Truth and Reconciliation Foundation, which was announced this past March. The foundation marks the first time in history the Descendants of those enslaved have collaborated like this with successors of the enslavers. You can learn more about the history and the foundation at their website, which is www.descendants.org. Joe, Cheryllyn and Fr. Tim talked to host Mike Jordan Laskey about the dialogue process and their vision for the foundation. They hope this unique pathway forward might inspire similar efforts throughout the country. Yes! Joker is back. Getting so real and raw. Pursuing Truth of what works in life and what didn't. You ask for more. Here is part 4...Man! Thank you Joker! As I've asked before, could you do this?! Maybe. I guarantee you can help someone else out with your story. Let them know they are not alone. BTW, for the keen ear. Confession, part 3 was supposed to be part 4 and vise versa. I'm not sure how we got that mixed up in production. So as you listened to Part 4, you can better understand what led to sense of further hopelessness in part 3. Someday, perhaps we will repost, Joker willing, the whole testimony in its entirety. For now, just like a good book, it will flash back and forward to explain a life story. So let's recap, Joker had a tough childhood. Found his Mom dead. A tough Dad, sounds like he ruled with more of an iron fist vs. love. Addiction really didn't kick in with alcohol until 39. Workaholism. In all fairness, to Joker, I'll just say a very hard worker. Porn addiction. All this lead to a divorce he didn't want. Add depression and anxiety, also something he didn't ask for. Yes, we make certain choices. Let us not forget the genetic deck that we are dealt. Some of you didn't ask to be bald or shorter or taller or easier to put on weight. You get my point?Truth. I bet most people, if they could admit it safely, contemplated taking their life at certain points. You are not alone. Please don't. You are here for a reason. There is Hope. Just like the sun comes up, it will in your life eventually. Do you recall all the things that were pressing down on Joker that made him feel hopeless? Do recall how they ended up resolving themselves...eventually?Will end on a prayer and then a song note. Father, thank you for my Brother Joker and his bold, bold, confessions. Father, you are in the Hope and restoration business. You do it over and over and over with some of the least likely people on this Earth, documented in your Book and beyond to today. Romans 8:28 is the promise written by another least likely Dude (a Christian hater and killer) Saul to Paul that ends up being one of your greatest voices. Let the listener know they are not listening to this by accident. You designed people to matter. To have Purpose. You designed us to worship. We all worship something. May it be you. That you can take the broken pieces in my life and Joker's and Brother Willie and this listener and make a work of art. You are in the restoration and Hope business. Lastly, will you put names on the listener's hearts on whom they may best share this or other to help encourage someone else. Amen!Ending on a song note, back to one of Joker's favorites. This is Build my Life by HouseFires, if you dig please add it to your reflection playlist.
"Man of La Mancha" - Impossible Dream - Opener! What's impossible? For anything is possible with God. Matt 19:26Yes! More BW! Brother Willie bringing it again and not holding back. Getting real. Pursuing Truth.Part 1 Recap, went through a tough childhood, growing up in Baton Rouge, LA. To moving to Milwaukee, getting reunited with your birth dad that unfortunately encouraged you down the wrong path of drinking and crack. Your brother was brutally shot and you find yourself needing to move away from your birth dad and get away for a healthier life. This is where we pick up. If you did not listen to Part 1, please do so. It is riveting. Word, thank you Brother Willie! Bold, brave, real and raw, pursuing Truth. Are you catching the common denominator of where BW and others were hopeless to hope? Note what works. Avoid what doesn't. Jesus works. Ending on a song note, what I love about BW is he opens my mind and heart to what else is out there. I didn't even know Kirk Franklin until BW shared it. Here it is 'Conquerors' by Kirk Franklin. Give Kirk and his family some love and add it to your 'Hope and what you need to Conquer' play list...now go, love others, share what works, share Jesus...
Yes! You are in. Most people, really, really like money. Many love it. To be frank, I've made too many mistakes on this front. Some of you have already heard this testimony. For some of you this will be the first time. It's a painful lesson of mine that will help some of you that like to spend like...I used to...especially our young adults as they become earners. First, a 'Play of the Day' by Dr. Lorrits on the importance of reviewing game film. Whether you are an athlete or not, you will get this. You play over and over in your head some successes, yet mainly the failures in your own life. Here is a new way for some of you to look at the importance of your failures. Mine included...I love that Dr. Bryan Lorrits, if you would like to hear more of him. Check out the 'Bryan Lorrits' Podcast. That's Bryan with a 'Y". That excerpt came from '2020: The Year We Must Never Forget', published on 1/4/2021.Ok, you ready for some dirt? First, notice the tagline of FriDudes. "Getting Real. Pursuing Truth." Part of getting Real is talking about what doesn't work in life. Pretending your life is perfect is... FAKE. As Dr. Lorrits astutely points out, the wise will learn from their failures. For the wise, there are no wasted experiences. God will absolutely use your failures if you seek Him. Check Rom 8:28.I recall seeing a recent episode of 'My 600 Pound Life', if you are not familiar with that show it follows overweight people trying to get healthier. Thinking to myself, oh wow, I'm glad I'm not that person. Of course, a quick heart check and a pull and it comes to my mind, I do have or at least had a 600 pound life...financially. Truth, most of us have a 600 pound life somewhere. It could be physically or debt or a sucky marriage and infidelity or an addiction to work, money, boos, porn, social media, or politics or anger management or _____________. Here is my 600 pound life with debt...Do as your Country does...The American Dream...Debtor For Rich or for Richer?or For Poor or Poorer? By the way, remember when I said we are all flawed. I am definitely flawed.
Thanks for checking in Russia, England, to Virginia to Iowa to California and wherever you are today. Humbled that you would give this rag tag group pursuing Truth a shot. The 'Play of the Day', going back to Pastor Ricky Jenkins. You can find more of him at Southwestchurch.com, this is from "Vision Days, Week 1, Find Your Thank You". 9/21/20. Minute 40:50 - Minute 43:50. Here you go...So good! Pastor Ricky Jenkins is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Mentored by one of my other new favorites, Dr. Bryan Lorrits. Can you find your 'thank yous' in the midst of the chaos? Think of the most encouraging people in your life. They know how to find their 'Thank You's. Did you know that it's Biblical? Speaking of one of my other favorites, Phil 4: 6-7. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Lift the negatives. God, I don't like ___________. God, I can't understand this. Then lift the positives. No matter how bad you have it. I guarantee there are some positives. It is all a matter of perspective. Find them. Give thanks for them. If they are people, let them know your gratitude. Lift them up. If you do this enough, you will experience God's peace. That is not my promise. That is God's promise via the words of Paul.Ending on a song note, yes! Another short and sweet pod today. Some of you may be asking where are the other FriDudes? They'll be back. They deserve a break at times. You deserve a break at times. In fact, Casey brought up the importance of taking a rest. What is your Sabbath? Do you know God designed that for you for you? Are you taking a day of rest? Are you taking a break from social media? Work? Sports? As for the song, I'm going back to Lecrae and his Restoration album. Yes, I appreciate his lyrics, his prose. Jogging Jesus recently said, "Man, you love hip hop". Truth, I do like it. It is not my #1 genre. If you are an avid listener or back up on previous episodes you'll hear Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd, etc. Of course, we will also go to certain Christian artists. If the song fits the greater Truth message, we'll use it. Secular or not.Back to Lecrae, oh, he had chaos and deep darkness. This work of art may sound dark. He speaks about what brought him out of darkness. What works. Real. Raw. Pursuing Truth, this is 'Over the Top', if you dig, please give Lecrae some love and add it to your 'Perspective Play List', now go, find your thank you's, get perspective, rest, experience more of God's peace...

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:5-6 Not too long ago, people would use the phrase, “keeping it […]

Today's episode is a bit different. Instead of hanging out in the clouds and being abstract (which I have a tendency to do), I broke down specific rules / prerequisites which I have developed for reaching better truths. To be honest, this was a fun episode to record for me, yet it was one which I wasn't sure about recording because of the fragility and nuanced-nature of the topic. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it! As I mention in the podcast, it's a topic which I think is extremely important for all of us both now and in the future. Much Love ❤️. All is the owner and operator of “NOWON”. NOWON is a Center for Inner Training. The acronym which stands for “NO OTHER WAY OF NURTURING”. The root way in which we nurture begins in mindfulness of our breathing. At Nowon Center we combine breath-work with our integrated body-work. I take on the roles of licensed Massage Therapist, Massage Instructor, Body-Worker, Breathing Coach and facilitator of the Eye-O-Breathe-Back Breathing workshops and Wuji Bagua Circle Walking. Within each of us there's an innate ability to adjust our living through mindful-breathing, in a moment's notice; at any given time. This proactive response when practiced diligently cultivates and maintain the balance, focus and clarity we all need. My intention here is to share my personal experience of “HOW TO DO” and allow you the experience of doing for your-self what you can, to cultivate more balance, optimal health, and ultimate living for life. I will show you how to develop a relationship with your inner coach and reconnect you with your original rhythm, which initiates healing from within, NOWON!

Ben comes with a fresh light, and focuses on seeing the importance of people. In this episode we hear more about Ben’s story, his faith upbringing in Indiana, and the rise to the Bachelor and Bachelorette as of recent. We discuss the story of the Bible and looking at several character narratives. What is your impression of Paul? What did he speak about? Chris Abel hosts Bruce Nuffer in a discussion about how a Gen Xer uses a Millennial approach to his reasoning that causes him to reconsider long-held positions on environmentalism. While the thinking process described is not unique to Millennials, as a generation they are largely characterized by a similar pursuit of truth and wrestle with the findings of science and reconciling those findings with scripture.

Dr. Leslie Vinjamuri of SOAS University interviews Prof. Lisa Anderson on the topic of academic freedom and scientific research in the aftermath of the 2011 uprisings against Hosni Mubarak. During her tenure as President of the American University of Cairo, Dr. Anderson had to navigate the most crucial political upheavals in Egypt’s history while leading a prominent educational institution, serving during the terms of four different Egyptian presidents. As she dealt with the upheavals, she also focused on fulfilling the social responsibilities of the AUC; encouraging debate within the university community; fostering collaboration between academic institutions; and cultivating research in Egypt and the region. Dr. Anderson's views on her decisions during this tumultuous period are captured in an interview from an article titled, ‘Universities Are Places Where Everybody Has the Right to be Wrong’: “Yes it is true that we were very adamant about how we are going to do this peacefully and we are not going to refer people to the police and we will not have police on campus. Free expression is the bedrock of education." Dr. Anderson served on the Board of Directors of Human Rights Watch from 1988-2003 and as the President of the Middle East Studies Association in 2003 and on the Council of the American Political Science Association from 2004-2006. She is author of The State and Social Transformation in Tunisia and Libya, 1830-1980 (1986), co-editor of The Origins of Arab Nationalism (1991), editor of Transitions to Democracy (1999) and author of Pursuing Truth, Exercising Power: Social Science and Public Policy in the Twenty-first Century (2003), as well as numerous scholarly articles.
