This week we celebrate 18 years of marriage. Whaaaat?! YES. It is our wedding anniversary, and I invited my favorite human (my husband!) back on the podcast to celebrate with me. We're getting real about what it actually looks like to love each other out loud—not just in Instagram-worthy moments, but in hallway hellos, morning text rituals, and that one time on a cruise ship when we totally misunderstood each other... and turned it into one of our best love lessons. This isn't a “how-to” episode. It's a behind-the-scenes look at how we LIVE the frameworks I coach on—✨Soul-Centered Communication, the Power of One, and honoring difference with delight.✨ You'll hear what it sounds like to co-create emotional safety, savor the simple stuff, and stay connected—even when you're not on the same page. Whether you've been married 18 years or 18 months, my hope is that you FEEL the energy under our words: grounded, loving, deeply human. ✨This is love in real life. Not perfect. But deeply, intentionally, joyfully true.✨ Here's what we cover: Why how we greet each other matters more than grand gestures What we've learned about honoring differences (especially when one of us uses 10,000 words... and the other 10!) The small rituals that keep our connection sacred How a cruise ship miscommunication became a masterclass in partnership and one of our forever favorite marriage bloopers Why we sometimes choose rose-colored glasses... on purpose It's tender. It's playful. It's full of gold. I can't wait for you to listen and I absolutely want to hear your favorite takeaway! Come back here and hit reply or message me on instagram. Suit up as we tackle the iconic "She's the Man," the noughties rom-com starring Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum that's way more than just laughs. We dissect this hilarious take on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," exploring its surprisingly insightful commentary on gender roles, Viola's boundary-breaking football skills, and why this movie remains a beloved cultural touchstone. Join us for a deep dive into the disguises, the drama, and the delightful chaos of a film that proves girls can kick butt (and get the guy while doing it). She's the Man movie, Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, romantic comedy, gender roles.
Any time we have mentioned Death Stranding on our humble little podcast, it has lead to chuckles. The news that it is been adapted to film by A24 just has us dumbfounded. We also talk about the awesomely named Evil Dead Burn. There are some things that we were happy to hear, though there is some cause for worry.Heart Eyes is the perfect date movie for the horror fan in your life. It is charming, funny, sweet, and scary. It is filled with strong performances and has some very effective kills. It is also the rare slasher which will have you rooting for the protagonists. At times, the rom com elements outshine the actual horror.Which isn't to say that it is a bad scary movie. Josh Ruben has proven he knows how to put together a good horror movie. Heart Eyes is another example of how he is criminally overlooked. We also talk about the Heart Eyes Killer and the potential for a franchise. Plus, a really creative use of a grape press.Shadow of God starts off like any other exorcism movie. It begins in a run down part of Mexico, a violent exorcism is taking place, and it is an introduction to the demon that will be the film's main villain. It is also the only part that will look familiar. This is one of the strangest things we have ever reviewed on this show. The big twist should be that the possessor is God, but the marketing reveals that. It then becomes a question of what they are going to do with it. Perhaps unsurprisingly, not very much. After all, what can you do when the Almighty is an integral part of the plot? Filled with inconsistencies, arthouse tendencies, and a clear lack of direction, Shadow of God ends up being a off putting yet fascinating mix. DB and Becca dig into the movie's deep-fried nostalgia, messy relationship dynamics, and the way rom-coms love to dress up coercion as fate. They unpack emotional manipulation in a southern accent, the myth of “the one,” and why Melanie's real love story might've been with her friends—or *literally* anyone else! GUEST DETAILS Becca Rea-Tucker is a reproductive rights advocate, baker, and author whose work merges activism and dessert. She is the author of the cookbook Baking by Feel and the upcoming The Abortion Companion, a supportive guide for people who have abortions.
