Philip Low’s brain-mapping breakthrough made him a billionaire. Now a blistering Facebook post has thrust the neuroscientist into a new fight – with his old friend, Elon Musk. Low called Musk a “narcissist with an obsessive lust for power” in a post shared nearly 50,000 times before it mysteriously vanished. Now Low is claiming X and other social media platforms are silencing dissent, and has set aside US$250 million to test in court whether their promises of “free speech” are really false advertising. Today, veteran UK correspondent and contributor to The Saturday Paper, Paola Totaro, on the neuroscientist taking on Silicon Valley, and attacking the character and credibility of the world’s richest man. Welcome back to Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu. In this episode, I sit down with my co-host Drew to rip into one of the most turbulent weeks in global politics and economics we've seen in a long time. We break down not just the moves, but the motives and the possible massive consequences behind Trump's high-octane foreign policy—from slashing tariffs with China and locking in a colossal Saudi investment deal, to taking the unprecedented step of targeting Big Pharma with an executive order to lower drug prices. We get into whether all this fast action is actually helping America or just stirring up more chaos. Are we leveraging our moment, or just getting played by the likes of Xi and Putin? Does tough talk and bold negotiating end with real results for America, or are we setting ourselves up for long-term headaches, especially with midterms on the horizon? Then we peel back the layers on some of the rawest culture war issues, from immigration crackdowns in the UK, the controversy about a Muslim-majority city in Texas, to the viral video of world leaders acting out-of-pocket on a train to Kiev. Self-loathing is a silent epidemic—often overlooked, misunderstood, and deeply ingrained from an early age. In this groundbreaking episode of The 1000 Hours Outside Podcast, Ginny Yurich sits down with Dr. Blaise Aguirre, Harvard psychiatrist and author of I Hate Myself: Overcoming Self-Loathing and Realizing Why You're Wrong About You. Dr. Aguirre reveals why self-hatred is rarely addressed in therapy, how it differs from depression, and the surprising ways it manifests in children—even before they can remember ever liking themselves. He dives into the dangerous impact of modern social media, the crucial role of autonomy in childhood, and why simply telling kids they are lovable doesn't work. Instead, he offers practical, science-backed strategies to help children build resilience, develop a sense of agency, and discover what truly lights them up. "So the piece that I most resonate with the Dialectical Behavior Therapy is it's one of the therapies that really understands this core feeling of feeling overwhelmed and like you don't want to be alive." - Sharon Stein McNamara EPISODE SUMMARY: In this episode of Unraveling Adoption, I had the pleasure of speaking with Sharon Stein McNamara, a licensed psychologist and adoption-competent therapist. Sharon, an adoptee herself, shared her personal journey and the profound impact of adoption on her life, particularly during her adolescent years when she faced suicidal thoughts after a breakup. We delved into the complexities of adoption and how they can lead to feelings of self-loathing and overwhelming distress, especially among adoptees. Sharon introduced us to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a therapeutic approach that has been particularly effective for adopted adolescents and young adults. She explained how DBT incorporates mindfulness and distress tolerance skills, which are crucial for individuals who may feel their emotions are too intense to manage. Throughout our conversation, Sharon emphasized the importance of recognizing and validating these feelings rather than dismissing them. She shared her own experiences with DBT and how it helped her and her clients navigate the challenges of attachment and self-worth. We discussed the significance of shifting core beliefs about oneself, especially for adoptees who may struggle with feelings of being unwanted or unworthy. Sharon's insights provided hope and practical tools for families and individuals impacted by adoption. She encouraged listeners to never give up hope on adoptees, as the right support and understanding can lead to healing and growth. I hope this episode resonates with anyone who has been touched by adoption or is seeking effective therapeutic tools to support themselves or their loved ones. Thank you for joining us, and please share this episode with anyone who might benefit from Sharon's expertise. ===============

In this episode, we dive deep into the heart of the new year's weight-loss resolutions. While the world tells us to lose physical weight, we challenge our listeners to focus on something far more significant: losing the weight of self-loathing and replacing it with the weight of the full armor of God. We unpack the concept of loving ourselves in a way that honors God. Drawing from the wisdom of Scripture, we discuss how it's impossible to truly love God while harboring hatred toward ourselves and others (1 John 4:20), especially when Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40). Abbie and Hannah explore the power of Ephesians 6:13-18, where Paul describes the full armor of God as the ultimate defense against the devil's schemes, and how we can “gain weight” spiritually by clothing ourselves in this armor. Take this episode as a fresh perspective on weight and health, offering freedom and hope in a world that often confuses physical weight loss with self-worth. If you want to learn how the foundation of self-love is integral to living out God's call in our lives, be sure to listen to the whole episode and share it with someone who needs to hear this message. To love your neighbor as yourself, you must first love yourself. Although sometimes it may be hard, you should love yourself because you're made in God's image, you are an awesome human, and you are loved by God. Instead of falling into arrogance or self-loathing, focus on others without neglecting self-care, and you'll strike the right balance. Mark 12:29-31 Rabbi Jesus said the greatest commandments are to love God and then to love your neighbors as yourself. Next week we'll look at loving your neighbor, but today let's consider loving yourself. Why should you love yourself? 1. Created in God's image (Genesis 1:27) 2. Humans are awesome (Psalm 139:13-14) 3. God loves you (1 John 4:7-10; Romans 5:6-8) There are two ditches on either side of the narrow path of self-love. 1. Arrogance: thinking you're better than others 2. Self-Loathing: thinking you're worthless The great secret to self-love is focusing on others. In other words, loving others is a major way to love yourself. Perhaps that's why Jesus said to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Ephesians 5:29 Although self-care may have been obvious to ancient people, it's easy to work ourselves into the ground in modern times. The post It's All About Love 2: Love Yourself first appeared on Living Hope.

Can modern women find real fulfillment in the old-school template of homemaking without losing themselves? I'm tackling the "Trad Wife" debate in today's episode. I've been chewing over a podcast featuring Lauren Southern, who swung from political commentator to "Trad Wife" and then critiqued the movement. Don't get me wrong, I had my moment as a self-proclaimed feminist. But now as a SAHM, I want to talk about a biblical take on gender roles and mutual respect in marriage, exploring why it's crucial for women to hold onto their skills while navigating traditional family dynamics. Buckle up, I think we can find a middle ground that respects both modern womanhood and tradition.- - - - - - - - - - -Liz Durham Instagram | WebsiteSubscribe Apple Podcast | SpotifyBeing Different with Liz Durham is a Palm Tree Pod Co. production

And I thought there was no end to that, and I gave up on ever trying to stop because I figured out if I didn't keep trying to stop, I couldn't fail anymore. And then one day, I encountered this power, and I've never been the same.”Through Joe's experience, we see how encountering a higher power can transform even the most despairing life.
