We emphasise the need to get the foundational building blocks and messaging right before diving into SEO, so that your visitors have a better chance at converting once they arrive on your website.  We talk about the role of keywords, backlinks, and site loading speed (among others) as essential pieces of an overall SEO strategy. While we advise that you outsource the technical aspects of SEO to specialists, as always it's important to educate yourself first so you can make sound decisions. We highly recommend the free SEO training provided by Anthony Raspa and his team at Dezign Digital to learn more: Everything you need to know about SEO - Dezign DigitalTakeaways:Get the foundational parts of your business right before diving into SEO.Focus on all three pillars of SEO: local SEO, organic SEO, and technical SEO.Outsource the technical aspects of SEO and use AI tools to assist with meta descriptions and alt tags.Prioritise providing valuable content for readers over prioritising SEO.Use a multi-pronged approach to marketing that includes SEO, social media marketing, branding, and messaging.More info here:https://dezigndigital.com.au/everything-you-need-to-know-about-seo/Connect with the hosts:Kate De Jong, PhD | Inspired BusinessWebsite: https://katedejong.com/Instagram: katedejong.inspiredbusinessEmail: kate@katedejong.comSam Morris | The Business ImplementorWebsite: https://thebusinessimplementor.com/Instagram: sammorris.businesscoachEmail: sam@thebusinessimplementor.com

In There's a Place, Frank and Gaz hit the pavements in search of residual traces of the places downunder where the Beatles stayed, played and partied with locals (What does the rush to redevelop these places tell us about Australia in the 1960s?). Inspired by the true crime podcast genre, our hosts uncover the shady circles within which they mixed in Sydney's ‘Sin City'. In Melbourne, Gaz gathers near definitive unscientific proof of the survival of the London plane trees that supported Beatles fans seeking a view of the fab four on the balcony of the legendary Southern Cross hotel. Frank assesses the symbolism of George's sidetrip to meet family friends in Mt Taylor, Auckland for a meal of poached eggs and tomato sauce. (Mentioning Taylor Swift didn't seem to help the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) last episode but we will try again.)

Obviously, social media can play a big part in this, and we're going to hear about what platforms and strategies have worked well for some of our creators (as well as which ones haven't!). But social media is only one aspect of podcast marketing, and you don't even need to use it at all if you don't want to. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the ultimate low-hanging fruit of podcast growth because it lets your listeners find and come to you in their own time and on their own terms. Creating special or unique content alongside your usual episodes is another growth strategy that's yielded great results for some of our podcasters, and we're going to hear some tips for replicating that, too. Another recurring strategy in this episode is collaboration. Being on or working with other podcasts is a proven way to build your audience. AJ Saunders, a self-proclaimed SEO geek since 2014 and helps coach e-commerce brands to understand and use SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to grow their business to 6-figures annually. Having worked on hundreds of business websites across multiple niches and industries, AJ's one big tip is to set measurable KPIs to gauge the health of any online business. Solid SEO is still the best way to bring customers to your website, because it is low-cost lead gen where you own the farm, as opposed to social media platforms, where frankly, you do not. Marketers are looking for shortcuts all the time, they want to be easily found, and they want fast sites and great content. Google is trying to counteract some of these parasites using short-term techniques and methods that don't work long-term. Content should not be written for search engines, but for people. This gave birth to keyword farms and different types of link trees, but it only polluted everything. As far as Google is concerned, people are trying to get into the game instead of making it user-friendly. As long as you're doing good content, improving, and adding value. Have your header set up correctly, tag your images correctly, and have an excellent internal and external link structure, then SEO will work for your business. Measuring KPIs on the page level, and on the domain level, and then zooming out to see how things are going in terms of sales, and in terms of leads captured. You have to understand the health of your website. It's always best to have 2-3 KPIs. It's not just creating the actual content that goes on the page, it's creating the map and the call to action, you really should be telling people what to do next, there should be a flow. There are a lot of companies that say, sign up here to get my newsletter. People already get thousands of emails a day. Articulate the value they will receive, a good example is in the executive coaches' world where they're giving out a lot of great information, or when a company sends out 15% off coupons every once in a while. In both of those cases, the value of what that company or person is giving has already been defined on that same CTA, and you will get some pretty low engagement. Selling an organic search engine optimization service is not as transactional as people may think, there's a lot of groundwork that goes into it. The analysis of how everything is working, changes that will need to be made to make the SEO campaign much more effective, and results, when bringing on a new client, to be able to show them this service works.Much work might be done in the first 30-60 days, but most of the results will take three to six months. Even if you have the best product in the marketplace and the best marketing, this won't matter. Sometimes a client can become unhappy, nervous, or impatient with the results in their given timeframe. Having a strategy and tactics in place to take it step by step by step. The marketplace can take longer to respond. The strategy in place will definitely work, but the timeframe will vary. In this episode:[01:07] SEO is one of the most important aspects to optimize your websiteMaintaining the effectiveness of your business in this industryUnderstanding the fundamentals of how an SEO strategy works[03:14] Marketers are looking for shortcuts all the timeGoogle's mission from the startThe mess behind the scenes when creating an SEO strategy[05:27] How KPIs help you understand the health of your websiteHave a good internal link structure, as well as an external link structureBuild profitable relationships with customers by creating awareness, driving sales, and building customer loyalty

Web3's Website Workshop
Online Search Demands & Trends That Are Driving Sales For Law Firms

Web3's Website Workshop

Would you like to learn how consumers are discovering law firms in Google search and what consumer trends are driving behaviours that are leading to sales online? Having answers to questions such as: is my audience online? are they searching for what I do? are they searching for what my firm does? is critical regardless of which industry you are in and even which field of law that you are in. Fortunately, in this day and age, we can use tools such as Google Trends to identify online search demand and trends. For example, if we look at local search phrases such us, ‘Lawyers Near Me’ or if we look at more specific areas of law such as ‘Family lawyers near me‘ or ‘Criminal lawyers near me’, we can see through the search data that people are looking to find providers in their location. This is something that allows us to take advantage of strategies like local-based optimisation and local SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), which are applicable strategies for the majority of law firms in Australia. Understanding search demand for the legal industry We can use tools such as SEMrush to give us keyword level data of how many searches are happening per month for specific keyword phrases in Google. For example, for the phrase ‘personal injury lawyers‘, there are approximately 1,900 searches happening every month in Australia. SEMrush also provides us with different keyword variations depending on the geographic location of the search. Looking at the data, we can see ‘Family Lawyers’ themed search volume by city such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide etc. The only exception we have encountered in the law space when helping firms grow with Google is when dealing with specific niche areas that are not known from the general consumer. In this scenario, consumers would not be aware of that specific niche area of law therefore they would not be actively searching for it. This is typically an edge-case scenario however that does not apply to the majority of legal practitioners in Australia. Consumers are better informed now more than ever Everyone is connected 24/7, this means that your clients are more informed and they are more purposeful and prepared to make better-informed decisions than ever before. Consumers today are better informed about your products and services more than ever thanks to the internet. Having your audience constantly accessing the web uncovers trends that are also driving consumer behaviour today. Two of the biggest trends are: discoverability is crucial if you want to win the sale and generalised offers are meaningless. Having a contact form on your website, getting down on one knee and praying, hoping that someone is going to come on Google and fill it out is not a strategy at all. Statistics show that consumers are becoming loyal to the brands that meet their immediate needs. One out of ten smartphone searchers are certain that they are going to go over a company before they start searching which means that 90% of searchers do not have brand loyalty. Not knowing which provider they are going to go with gives you a great opportunity to win the business if you can be discovered through Google. If you are not visible and there is no chance that you are going to be found, you won’t be able to use Google as a stream to acquire new business and new clients. Furthermore, every two out of three smartphones users agree that when they are searching on their phones, they are looking at the most relevant offer to solve their immediate problem, regardless of the company. Online personalisation & offer relevancy drives sales Today’s consumers expect personalisation and relevancy, this is why nine out of ten consumers would buy from a company that best predict their search intent and suggests highly relevant solutions. Search intent is a really important part to get right and the area that I see most agencies working with law firms getting wrong. We will expand on search intent further on the next part of our law fir marketing series. Understanding the consumer intent, providing a relevant offer and targeting the right keyword phrases are crucial strategies so that when users are searching, they can be presented with an offer that is relevant to their situation and needs. If you are interested in learning how to grow your law firm through Google Search Engine Marketing and how to get more clients on board please reach out to us or feel free to leave a comment below. This week we’re going to be talking about SEO – Search Engine Optimisation. And to help me (because I know nothing about SEO) I have TWO lovely guests with me! We have the lovely Sarah and Hannah, who are the hosts of SEO SAS. These girls have worked in this industry a long while and they love SEO, so I knew they would be the perfect people to come on and talk to you about this subject. And perhaps you may even be inspired to do something with your own SEO! Key Takeaways Covered in the Podcast ·      SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation – the process of increasing both the quality and quantity of traffic to your website, by increasing the visibility of the website or web pages to people via search engines such as google. ·      Google has over 200 ranking factors. There are over 200 factors that google look at when they are ranking pages and websites. ·      Most people when they think about SEO, they just think about keywords. It is now so much more sophisticated. You need to think about things such as page speed, user experience, technical aspects and accessibility. ·      Making one change can make a huge difference, and that may be all you need to do for a couple of months. Simply changing a page title could increase traffic by 20%! ·      SEO is NOT dead! It is still very important. ·      There are two types of key words – Educational and Transactional. ·      You can find out how people are finding you and what they are searching for by using free tools such as Google Search Console. ·      Domain Authority is a score out of 100, based on the amount of back links to your website and how trustworthy your website is. ·      You need to make sure everything linked to your website is relevant, trustworthy and natural. Otherwise it can be spammy. ·      There are link specialists who can help you with your link building. If you are linking out, make sure it is natural and relevant. When getting links to your site, there are lots of different ways you can do this, such as, creating useful articles that can help others (guest post), give a quote about the latest news on another website and digital PR – fun ways to get people talking. ·      Make sure your blog title is click worthy and answering something that people are going to search for or something that people don’t even know they want yet. ·      You can research what people are looking for through Google AdWords. ·      Make sure all your subheadings in your blog are optimised too! ·      Is there some added value you can add to your blog compared to those that are already out there? Such as a video, more images, more information. ·      Give people a reason to stay on your site longer and go to other areas after they have read your blog post, or even convert! ·      Make sure your images are no bigger than 100kb as this can slow down your page speed. ·      Name your image something relevant, add alt text (alternative text) that describes that image. ·      Metadata is the information that displays in google – you can decide this! Make sure your title is 60-70 characters long, optimised with key words. Description 120-160 characters, use key words here too! ·      CTR – click through rate. This will depend on the quality of your metadata. ·      Test your title tags and metadata using...

This is a series of Podcast by Danny de Hek with the goal to give you more insight and control of your own Internet marketing without being exploited by Website Design & Development + SEO companies.Over the next few weeks, I will be publishing a set of Podcast on #WebArchitecture #DomainNames #Email #WebHosting #Content #Maintenance #SEO #SearchEngineOptimisation and #PaidAdvertisingWhat’s my background, how long have you got? My claim to fame – I started the first Internet cafe in Christchurch with a friend back in 1995 it was called The Email Centre on Worcester Boulevard. People who used to come and use our cyber services taught me how the Internet worked, looking back it was enough to make me dangerous. At that time my expertise was getting people with computers onto the Internet and teaching them how to surf the World Wide Web.After 12 months I gained enough knowledge simply by looking over peoples shoulders, asking questions and seeing what others were using the Internet for. I learnt to be able to set up a basic website. One day I decided to sell everything I owned to buy a laptop and shortly after I maxed out my credit card with one of the first digital cameras that came to the market. I was equipped and ready to rock and roll as a mobile internet consultant.I used to travel around New Zealand claiming to be New Zealand’s leading Internet consultant. For a one time setup cost of $300 and monthly hosting, promotion and maintenance for $30 a month, businesses could have a web presence within New Zealand’s Information Network. At one point I represented 45 different rental car brands, tourism companies and many accommodation providers throughout New Zealand. I was self appointed but I certainly made a big impact on the travel and tourism industry in New Zealand which earned me a six-figure income along the way.Being dyslexic and not being able to read and write, I kind of stood out like a sore thumb. I received a lot of criticism in an industry that wasn’t regulated by so-called peers, known these days as keyboard warriors. However it made me stronger and more determined to succeed, the old saying “no such thing as bad press” was certainly true in my case, the fact is it put me on the map!A few years later as the internet became more prominent and competitive, web development companies would approach my clients with flashy website designs which I couldn’t compete with. Understandably many of my clients wanted to take control of their own Internet services in house. This was my turning point, I re-strategised and invested time in myself and started doing a lot of affiliate marketing and commission based work. With a little luck one of my affiliate sites started generating $40,000 worth of profit each month. That site used to get 25,000 IP visits per day, the knowledge I learnt at that time was the real value. These days I own and run ELITE : SIX Business Networking and continue to look after a handful of loyal website clients, and I run a few drop shipping websites of my own. A lot of the knowledge I’ve learnt from marketing other people‘s businesses and having my own sites, has kept me in the know and a leader in the industry of Internet marketing.

Every podiatry business wants more new patients and throwing thousands of dollars each month at Google Ads is not the answer. It may seem like a smart thing to do because others are doing it, but there is a better way to market your podiatry business that will save you money ($) and give you better results.  Taylor Cutler is the Head of Marketing at Podium Australia, and today we discuss how you can improve your online reputation, generate a constant flow of positive Google reviews and the benefits of using one platform to communicate online with your patients.  PODIUM is a rich communication platform that health practices use to communicate back and forth with their patients via text messages. It can be used for appointment reminders, setting appointments and generating online Google reviews. Modern Consumers and Patients Our podiatry patients are no different from other consumers, they want convenience, and they want instructions to be easy to follow. Amazon and other online retailers have taught consumers they can order almost anything and with just a few clicks of the keyboard have it delivered to their door, and they want this type of convenience across the board.  How Are Patients Finding You? Online bookings are now commonplace, yet some people still want that personal touch and prefer to talk to someone on the phone, but even these people are finding you online. They are not staring at a billboard on the side of the road and typing in your phone number.   Simple SEO If you have good SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), you’ll get more people finding you online when they search, and there are two types of SEO, Normal SEO and Local SEO.  WARNING: Some companies throw around terms like metadata to try and confuse you and make you think you need an agency, and you don't.  Smartphones - The Disruptor  The smartphone has been the biggest disruptor to how we search for information. Not too long ago if you wanted to search for a business or service, you would have to wait until you get back to your computer at home or work, but now everything you need is in the palm of your hands.  Micro-Moment (termed by Google) A micro-moment is when a person is in a moment when they WANT to BUY or DO something, and as business owners, we need to take advantage of these moments.  This is why Local SEO is way more critical than Normal SEO.  "When someone does a local search on their smartphone, 76% will visit a physical place within 24 hours of that search, and 28% of those people will make a purchase".  Google My Business Listing  When someone searches for a Podiatrist, you want to be in the top three of the local business search. Being on page one is less important these days.  How can you get in those top three spots? Relevance (are you a podiatrist, so that's easy) Distance (how close are you to the person searching) Prominence (how prominent is your business) Prominence is based around your online reputation. How many online reviews do you have and how often are they coming in? You have no control over Relevance and Distance, so the only thing you can control is your Prominence.  4 Factors with Local Search Rankings  Recency (When was the last time you received an online review) Frequency (How often are the reviews occurring) Quality (Did they leave a star rating or did they write a well-written review using keywords Google looks for, like BEST podiatry clinic) ) Quantity (how many reviews do you have) Once you understand the importance of getting reviews, you need to start inviting your patients to leave an online review, and you need to ask everyone, not just suitable patients.  How Can You Make The Process Frictionless?  The modern consumer wants the review process to be convenient and super easy to do. If there are too many steps involved, they will not do it.  PODIUM uses text messaging via their app because text messages have an open rate of 99%, and most occur in the first three minutes.  Set the Expectation You cannot just send a text to a patient asking for a review without first explaining the HOW, WHEN & WHY.  Patients have a sense of empathy and like feeling important, and if you explain what to do, they are extremely more like to leave a review.  Your Team You could have the best review process in place (like using PODIUM) and still not get good reviews because your team give poor service, so everyone on your team needs to be well trained and wants to be part of the team.  2 Things You Should Do Immediately Claim your Google My Business listing and make sure you own it and if it's not set up, create it. Just type in Google my business (This is the beginning of your local search optimisation) Make sure all your name and practice details are consistent on all online profiles and websites.  Google Ads Versus Rankings Google Ads do work, but a lot of patients will quickly move past them and look at the businesses below in order as they are ranked. What do you do when searching?  If you rank below 3.2, patients will move straight past you and onto the next listing. You should have a ranking higher than 4.0 because often Google excludes businesses from specific searches if they fall below 4.0.  The magic number is 4.9  "One of the dumbest things you can do is buy reviews because Google can blacklist you".  If you have any questions about this podcast, please email me at tf@tysonfranklin.com Show Sponsor is Podium If you want to learn how to get an edge over your competitors and receive more frequent Google Reviews, and how to keep all your online messaging in one convenient place, then you need to visit our dedicated sponsors' page at https://try.podium.com/podiatrylegends/ Newsletter & Events  If you'd like to be kept up to date with my next PODIATRY MARKETING WORKSHOPS and other EVENTS, please sign up to my NEWSLETTER. We swap stories about the specifics of Spanish and French countries. Felipe tells me that ‘basic is advanced' and I tell him that ‘getting to simple is a complex process'. Mention of French SEO Olivier Andrieux who runs a site dedicated to investigating featured snippets and analyse what Google can and cannot digest. Felipe takes that into a more strategic sphere with the idea of building brand using featured snippets (with a boxing example). Then takes a swerve over to SEO as a marketing discipline rather than a tech one. We should be talking to the CMO, not the CTO. Brand searches are key. Drive those, and you both drive a better SEO strategy, AND convince the CMO that you are performing. Then we get enthusiastic about getting the SEO and PPC teams together. And I wangle my way to a conference in Brazil, despite the fact that I forgot they speak Portuguese.

This means Hannah is the perfect person to answer that all important question, do you know anyone that uses the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button on Google?   Takeaways - Any strategy should have objectives attributed to it, especially digital as there is no excuse to not monitor and learn from the findings - Using an external agency has many benefits and as Hannah points out they can bring the experience that may not be available internally, experience from other sectors that can be invaluable and possibly create a USP for an organisation. Because of this versatility over different markets, spotting trends is also a key ingredient of outsourcing SEO capabilities. - When building an online presence, especially your website, try using common sense to start to build your site and the content on it. Our experience with SEO is fantastic, but sadly the companies we speak with on a daily basis are not always as 'enthusiastic'.
