If you just look around, and you're not looking around with an eye to do some service, or you don't have a mission when you're looking at anything, you're scrolling. We're scrolling all the time. Kṛṣṇa consciousness means to be conscious of what you're looking at and why you're doing it. And then, of course, there's what's called atyāhāra. 'Ati' means extreme, and 'āhāra' means eating—extreme eating. I'm not going to talk about eating, so don't worry. But that phrase is also extrapolated upon by our great ācāryas to mean, 'Don't collect unnecessarily. Don't collect too much.' And it means collecting too much information also.You don't have to have so much information you can't even process it. And scrolling isn't even really processing information. It's barely touching each subject for just a few seconds and then moving on to something else, with a sense that there might be something better in the next thing. Frankly, those who set up a platform like that are trying to get you to scroll, and they don't care if you stay on one subject or another. Well, they do, because they register that and then put more of it out. But as long as you stay on their platform, that's okay. So, one thing to leave behind that can have an instant, positive effect is to leave behind scrolling. Don't scroll on your phone. Don't scroll indiscriminately, looking at anything randomly. We have to tolerate the extremes in the world, and toleration is one of the ways that Krishna recommends throughout the Bhagavad Gītā to be steady in spiritual consciousness. Don't give in to the extremes and the changes of the external world. Also, notice that if you pursue the pleasure of the senses in this world, then the result of it will be—although it may feel like pleasure in the beginning—there'll be misery at the end, because you'll have to contend with the reaction to it. So, we remain neutral while we're in the body, and we go on with our spiritual duty. And as one does that, there's a sense of satisfaction, which is invaluable in this world, because nobody has it. It's very rare because you can only get it from the spiritual platform. You can't get it from having money. You can't get it from having a beautiful property somewhere. You can't get it from having freedom to fly all over the world. Any of these things don't bring lasting happiness; only if one has developed Krishna consciousness can one become happy, and it doesn't matter what the situation is externally. So, although this seems to be a very simple principle in a simple verse, it's one of the essential aspects of practicing spiritual life: learning how to tolerate the dualities and to go on with one's practice in spiritual life. And the final point I'll make is that consistency is king in spiritual practice. If you're able to be consistent, even if you start with a minimal practice, but you keep it up every day and do your quota that you've decided to do, then it will have its effect. And there's an example that someone once gave about how, when you make yogurt, does anybody here know how to make yogurt? You take a big pot of milk—let's just say it is a big pot, and call your life a big pot of milk. If you take a little yogurt that's already there and you put it in the milk, even if it's a little bit, you put it into the big pot of milk, and then you set the pot in a place with an even temperature, not too cold, not too hot, and you leave it overnight, a miracle happens. You come back and the whole pot turns to yogurt. So we have a lot of things going on in our lives, but if you can add that spiritual practice to the big pot of your life, then eventually the whole pot transforms, and everything about your life gets connected to Krishna consciousness. It doesn't mean you have to give up what you're doing. As an example here is Arjuna. He's a warrior, and therefore he has to fight. It's his duty. If you call somebody when you're getting attacked, who's supposed to be a police officer, and say, "Please help me," and they say, "Oh, no, sorry, I'm non-violent, I can't help you," a non-violent policeman or a violent priest are not wanted. Everyone has their duty to do; they have to do it. xAI, the artificial intelligence company led by Elon Musk, announced new efforts Monday to get its generative AI tool, Grok, into the hands of federal government officials. In a post to X, the company announced “Grok for Government,” which it described as a suite of products aimed at U.S. government customers. FedScoop reported on the General Services Administration's interest in Grok last week. xAI disclosed two new government partnerships: a new contract with the Defense Department, which we'll get to in a moment, and that the tool was available to purchase through GSA. “This allows every federal government department, agency, or office, to purchase xAI products,” the post added. “We're hiring mission driven engineers who want to join the cause.” The new products from xAI follow the introduction of government-specific AI intelligence platforms from companies like Anthropic and OpenAI. The announcement was made just days after xAI's formal apology for the chatbot's recent antisemitic outputs. Last Thursday, FedScoop reported that government coders at GSA were discussing, on GitHub, incorporating Grok into a testing sandbox associated with a yet-to-launch tool called AI.gov and GSAi, a GSA-created AI platform. Anthropic, Google and xAI will join OpenAI on the CDAO's nascent effort to partner with industry on pioneering artificial intelligence projects focused on national security applications. Under the individual contracts — each worth up to $200 million — the Pentagon will have access to some of the most advanced AI capabilities developed by the four companies, including large language models, agentic AI workflows, cloud-based infrastructure and more. Chief Digital and AI Officer Doug Matty said in a statement: “The adoption of AI is transforming the Department's ability to support our warfighters and maintain strategic advantage over our adversaries. Leveraging commercially available solutions into an integrated capabilities approach will accelerate the use of advanced AI as part of our Joint mission essential tasks in our warfighting domain as well as intelligence, business, and enterprise information systems.” OpenAI received the first contract for the effort June 17 and will create prototypes of agentic workflows for national security missions. According to CDAO, work with all four vendors will expand the Pentagon's experience with emerging AI capabilities, as well as give the companies better insights into how their technology can benefit the department. Employees at the General Services Administration appear poised to test Grok 3, the artificial intelligence tool built by Elon Musk's company xAI, according to a GitHub page referencing the agency's work. The GitHub page operated by GSA and its digital government group Technology Transformation Services references the Grok AI model as one it is testing and that the team is actively discussing as part of its 10x AI Sandbox. A GSA spokesperson told FedScoop in a response to an inquiry about the agency's work with Grok “GSA is evaluating the use of several top-tier AI solutions to empower agencies and our public servants to best achieve their goals. We welcome all American companies and models who abide by our terms and conditions.”A post from Tuesday shows what appears to be one GSA employee trying to access Grok 3 for testing, but struggling to do so. Several names of the people active on the GitHub page match those of workers affiliated with GSA. The 10x AI Sandbox project is described on GitHub as “a venture studio in collaboration with the General Services Administration (GSA). Its primary goal is to enable federal agencies to experiment with artificial intelligence (AI) in a secure, FedRAMP-compliant environment.” It continues: “By providing access to base models from leading AI companies and offering advanced UI features, the sandbox empowers agencies to test and validate new AI use cases efficiently.” The public version of the 10x AI Sandbox project page on GitHub was taken down after the publication of this story, redirecting now to a 404 error page. Interest in testing Grok comes as GSA continues to work on GSAi, an artificial intelligence tool built by the agency and meant to help employees access multiple AI models. At launch, the GSAi tool included access to several systems, including tools from Anthropic and Meta. Notably, Grok came under fire last week after promoting various antisemitic statements on the Musk-owned social media platform X. A top digital rights group is pushing back on the IRS's data-sharing agreement with the Department of Homeland Security, writing in a new court filing that the pact violates federal tax code and fails to take into account the real-world consequences of bulk data disclosure. In an amicus brief filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, the Electronic Frontier Foundation argued that the “historical context” of the tax code section that ensures confidentiality of returns and return information “favors a narrow interpretation of disclosure provisions.” EFF also made the case for why the bulk disclosure of taxpayer information — in this case to Immigration and Customs Enforcement — is especially harmful due to “record linkage errors” that set the stage for “an increase in mistaken and dangerous ICE enforcement actions against taxpayers.” Nonprofit groups sued the Trump administration in March, shortly after the data-sharing deal between the IRS and ICE was announced. Soon after, the tax agency's then-acting commissioner resigned, reportedly in protest. In May, a Trump-appointed federal judge refused to block the agreement, allowing the IRS to continue delivering taxpayer data to ICE. The ruling, DHS said in a statement, was “a victory for the American people and for common sense.” As the D.C. Circuit Court considers the appeal, the Electronic Frontier Foundation wants to make sure that the “historical context” of tax and privacy law is taken into account. For the recipients of great mercy, Kṛṣṇa has the Karunya Shakti, through which He delivers those who are not deserving. Anyone who feels that they're not deserving of Kṛṣṇa's mercy, please raise your hand! Then you're eligible for this special stimulus package issued by Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu to save people who don't have any spiritual wealth. There's justice and there's mercy. Justice means you get what you deserve. Anybody would like to get what they deserve? Please raise your hand. If anybody would like to get mercy—which means you get special consideration even though you don't deserve it—raise your hand! Therefore, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu recommends that we keep ourselves in this humble position: “I don't deserve anything. I'm simply depending on The Lord's mercy.” So, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is "Namo Mahā-vadānyāya Kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te." He's giving special mercy to those who don't deserve it, and those who have been ensconced in material energy and illusion since time immemorial, or, as we say, anādi—since a beginningless time. We can't say how long the living entity has been in the material world because, as Śrīla Prabhupāda says, there's no beginning; you can't trace it out. So, what mercy is there? Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu comes and He imbues the chanting of the holy name with His own prema, and then He distributes it all over the world. Anyone, even if a person isn't intellectual or well-read, but is simply humble and takes the holy name in the mood of, “I need mercy, and I'm surrendering to the Holy Name,” such a person will receive the infusion of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu's mercy. It's coming down from Goloka Vṛndāvana: "Golokera prema-dhana Harinama Sankirtana." And this is the way in which we can become delivered and deliver the whole world: by chanting the holy names, beginning with Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Prabhu Nityānanda, Śrī Advaita Gadādhara Śrīvāsādi Gaura Bhakta Vṛnda. One could also argue, using the things Prabhupāda said and what the śāstras say, that chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is our primary business. After all, in taking Dīkṣā or Harinām initiation, one promises to chant The Holy Name. One doesn't promise, you know, other kinds of services necessarily, but that's the main thing that we say, "we'll do every day, without fail." And in that last section I read from Prabhupāda, he said, "If you, if you don't do anything else, you just chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, then, yeah, you're okay." So it's an important point to remember, this is sevā. We're serving Kṛṣṇa by chanting. One thought I had when we started the chanting was that when we have that perspective—at least I know when I'm chanting, if I think, "Oh, where's the bliss? Why aren't I happy? You know, how come the holy name isn't entertaining me and dancing in front of me or something like that?"—then it's very difficult to chant. But if I'm thinking, "This is a service," I'm more in a service mind and I'm thinking, "I am serving Kṛṣṇa by chanting out loud like this," then it feels very blissful. Circa 1973, there was a precipitous rise in book distribution. Just the conditions were all coming together where it was ready to take off. One of the leaders of book distribution, who was the head of the BBT in Los Angeles at that time, was giving very pointed classes related to Caitanya-caritāmṛta and these sections about the ways in which devotees want to bring others closer as Prabhupāda had done. Prabhupāda commissioned paintings where there was the Rāsa-līlā and the Harīnāma saṅkīrtana (Caitanya Mahāprabhu) in one picture. Of course, we know from the outset of the Caitanya-caritāmṛta: "anarpita-carīṁ cirāt karuṇayāvatīrṇaḥ kalau samarpayitum unnatojjvala-rasāṁ sva-bhakti-śriyam" (CC Adi 1.4). Caitanya Mahāprabhu's innermost desire was Kṛṣṇa's innermost desire, which is just thinking, "I want to give this to everybody." A lot of people later, after Mahāprabhu's appearance, said, "You're going to give this now in Kali-yuga? It's just an odd juxtaposition when people in Kali-yuga are satisfied with a little fast food, a little screen to look at, no philosophy to speak of, no logic to speak of, and then you're going to give the Ujjvala-rasa ? The highest thing?" You know others—Prabhupāda Sarasvatī, for instance—are saying, "This is unheard of, even amongst the greatest scholars": 'tathā paramahaṁsānāṁ munīnām amalātmanām bhakti-yoga-vidhānārthaṁ' (SB 1.18.20). Kuntī Devī says this is for the paramahaṁsas—what Kṛṣṇa is giving—and now it's being given in Kali-yuga to everybody. And this person was then bringing all these points to bear and saying book distribution—going out into public and meeting people for the purpose of bringing them to Kṛṣṇa—that's related to not just Caitanya Mahāprabhu's pastimes, but because Caitanya Mahāprabhu's pastimes are like a reversible jacket. You know a reversible jacket? You can wear it either way. Caitanya Mahāprabhu, you reverse it, then you have Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa-līlā. As we hear in the song "Gaurāṅgera duṭi pāda," Narottama Dāsa Ṭhākura says, you dive into the ocean of the saṅkīrtana movement, and you come out on the shore of the Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa-līlā. So he was preaching with this very enthusiastic devotee that book distribution is in the mood of the gopīs. You see how you could get there. You'd have to show your work on paper, like they say in a math class, "I'm going to see your work." You'd show it in the margins. Do they still do that? You don't just give the answer because you could have looked it up on ChatGPT. You have to show that you did the work. So devotees wanted to know, "Is this accurate?" And Prabhupāda confirmed. He said, "Yes, this is an accurate understanding." This is the mood of the gopīs; the mood of all the great devotees is to distribute the mercy of Kṛṣṇa, and Caitanya Mahāprabhu has come specifically for the distribution of the Ujjvala-rasa to everybody in the Kali-yuga.
