Goals from Maya Yoshida and Miki Yamane got LA back into the game, and a seven-save performance from Novak Micovic allowed the Galaxy to earn that elusive road point on the turf in Seattle. Hosts Josh Guesman and Damian Calhoun discuss the LA Galaxy's game and why players like Yamane, Micovic, Elijah Wynder, Tucker Lepley, and others fought back in the second half to really make Seattle pay for missed chances and the inability to put the game away. Bhagavad-gītā, Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam—we do all the books, everything, but it's just so tidy to take care of the basics. And besides, we can see this: here we are in the Fourth Canto. If we read this 108 times, if you all cancel your tickets, and, you know, we won't come to the end of it. We'll still be entering deeper and deeper into this one Canto, what to speak of one chapter, or just the prayers, or something like that. And we conceived of this perpetual distribution chain. In the beginning, the idea of Bhadra-pūrṇimā. Not everybody accepted it, because they were afraid that it would cannibalize the end-of-year marathon, which was non-descript. It was just, ‘do as much as you can.' And actually it started off with just… it used to be 10 days or something like that. Anyway, what's the harm in having perpetual book distribution going on? Because there's unlimited people who are coming to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. They have to be engaged, and Prabhupāda gave us those books, so we might as well plan how to distribute them to the world. On the release of all of them, he gave instructions to print them in large quantities and distribute them, including the Caitanya-caritāmṛta. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #govardhanreadings #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Following the advice of Rūpa Goswāmī and Kṛṣṇa in the Bhagavad-gītā, we can understand that we have to be consistent in chanting to begin with. We must use our intelligence. Kṛṣṇa says, "Conquer the lower self by the intelligence." So, when we're clear that this is medicinal and we have to trust that the doctor is qualified, then we can practice chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa for consistency. And here are just a few points. One is being professional. Professionals show up no matter what, not when they feel like it; otherwise, that person will be fired. So, for your japa and practice of japa, go for steadiness, not taste. Be very, very patient over the years to show up for your japa based on your intelligence and practice a lot. Those who learn to play the mṛdaṅga, who mess around, who don't take a teacher, who don't practice the rudiments, end up playing a sloppy mridanga, or concocting. I mean, if they're playing devotionally, there's no harm in it, but they end up slapping it in weird ways that disturbs the kīrtana rather than help it move along. And if we don't practice carefully—and practice means correct practice—and that means practicing again and again, even if out of 16 rounds, we can only hear one mantra, at least you hear one mantra. That can change everything. But we have to be patient. We have to practice a lot and keep showing up again and again. And we have to have determination of Rukmiṇī Devī. As I mentioned yesterday, she told Kṛṣṇa (SB 10.52.44), "yasyāṅghri-paṅkaja-rajaḥ-snapanaṁ mahānto vāñchanty umā-patir ivātma-tamo-'pahatyai yarhy ambujākṣa na labheya bhavat-prasādaṁ jahyām asūn vrata-kṛśān śata-janmabhiḥ syāt" I'm prepared to do this for hundreds of lifetimes if that's required." That is sheer determination. That's sadhana bhakti. It's not, "I'm not getting enough juice. I don't feel the bhāva. Therefore, this must not work. I quit. I'll go scroll on the internet instead." Don't do that. Be very professional. Show up for your japa. Be determined. If you don't get anything, then be prepared to give up this body and start over again in the next life and do it again. That's what Rukmiṇī says. She said, "If I can't have you as my husband in this life, I'll perform such severe austerities that I'll give up my body. In my next life, I'll do it again until you consent that you're going to marry me." So we have to be like that in sādhana-bhakti. Sādhana-bhakti is not messing around. It's very serious. So the place to be really serious is with our japa. Come as a pro. Do your work, bring your lunch box, and stay for the long term. And if you do that over many, many lifetimes, then maybe hear one mantra and realize that Kṛṣṇa and his name are not different. If we have that, then we have a joyful life dedicated to chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------
I was once driving with a friend of mine, who tends to get a little irritated when driving if somebody doesn't drive properly. Merging onto the freeway, he noticed that somebody didn't let him on, and I could tell that urge welled up in his chest and he started accelerating. And then I, the passenger, said the mantra, "We forgive you." As soon as I said that, it kind of broke that spell of that rush of anger that he had, and a second later, he looked over and said, "How do you do that?" To this day, he remembers that incident. It was at least 15 years ago, and whenever we get together, not all the time, but he will bring it up from time to time. He says, "I remember that time when you said when you uttered that mantra," because it's utterly contrary to what people often feel is the right thing to do. The mode of passion colors us. Incidentally, the mode of passion is the color red, appropriately, like when you "see red." It's practically literal, and it's also symbolic of the mode of passion that we see red. But we can preempt it if we are ready to forgive and let it go. And when we talk about forgiveness, forgiveness isn't condoning what anybody else does, but it's releasing ourselves from the situation so that we're not consumed by it, because rajas, that middle mode, it burns like fire, and fire can burn everything to ashes once it starts. Who knows how far it can go? It can burn down everything in your life. So learn to let it go instantaneously by having this mantra ready to go. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
On the Schmooze Podcast: Leadership | Strategic Networking | Relationship Building
Today's guest has been behind the scenes supporting the success of this podcast—and my original show, On the Schmooze. In July 2015, I started researching how to launch a podcast. That fall, I began recording interviews. But it wasn't until I hired an editor the following summer that I felt ready to release those episodes. On July 19, 2016, my first podcast, On the Schmooze, officially launched—and it ran weekly for 8.5 years. That same editor has been with me ever since, now supporting my Biz Book Pub Hub twice-a-week podcast. He's a seasoned podcast producer, strategist, and founder of Podcast Guy Media. Since 2015, he has helped launch, shape, and grow dozens of shows, producing well over 3,000 episodes. His specialty? Helping authors, business owners, and thought leaders create high-quality, lead-generating podcasts without the overwhelm. From content planning and guest booking to editing, show notes, scheduling, and promotion, he handles it all. He's also one of our Biz Book Pub Hub Partners, supporting nonfiction authors in transforming their books into binge-worthy podcasts and compelling audiobooks. He brings a rare mix of technical expertise, marketing savvy, and genuine care that helps every client's message shine. Please join me in welcoming Joshua Rivers. In this episode, we discuss the following:

In Episode 439 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with Douglas Rushkoff, a pioneering media theorist, best-selling author, and leading voice on how digital technologies shape societies, economies, and cultures. Rushkoff and Kofinas spend the first hour of their conversation tracing the arc of Douglas' career, from his upbringing in a communal 1960s neighborhood in Queens and early work in theater to his role as a cultural and media critic chronicling the rise of the early internet. They explore how the internet's rave-like collaborative ethos and anarchic counterculture gradually gave way in the 1990s and early 2000s to a highly centralized, commercialized, and impersonal platform for economic and political consolidation and control. The second hour turns to a conversation about consequences and remedies for our increasingly disembodied and highly intermediated world—with its blurring of public and private spaces, its hyperreality and epistemic dislocation, and its noticeable drift toward techno-feudalism and digital pacification. We examine ways to rebuild sovereignty over our communities and how to reclaim our attention, reaffirm our relationships, and reassert our power as citizens over our governments and the large-scale commercial and technological forces shaping our lives. Physicists have theories about the substance of the universe and describe it as wave-like. The fabric of the universe, so to speak, is woven together with threads of vibration, vibrational threads. Some have even described it as a kind of symphony, the whole universe, because it's woven together by sound, and matter is extremely fluid. It can bend, it can stretch, it can morph into something else, much like music. One can introduce variations to it, and there are modulations. So matter is like that also. In the Bhāgavatam, Kṛṣṇa describes, or Kapiladev describes, how the universe comes from sound as the first element. And from sound, the various other elements emerge and the various patterns in matter are created by various kinds of sounds, coming back to the point that Prabhupāda makes. Acts of creation in this world are dependent on the kinds of sound vibration that we make, or to be more specific, what we say and what we listen to. And as I've mentioned in previous discussions, quoting from the Vedānta-sūtra, the last verse, Anāvṛttiḥ śabdāt, which means everything comes from sound. There are different interpretations of that sūtra, but other ones say that you can become enlightened by sound, or uncovered, Anāvṛtti, by sound, śabdāt. So Prabhupāda mentions how all paraphernalia is available to us. If you want to organize it in a certain way, then you go figure out what kinds of things to listen to and what kinds of things to say. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Guys, We Have Infinity Things To Talk About Given that it's been more than a month since our last cast, it turns out there's a ton of stuff that has happened. It's getting a little wild. Silksong wasn't even announced at the time of the last podcast and now it's been out for two weeks. Plus, we played Emperor, we've played more DnD and a lot more to talk about. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Want to watch these episodes live? I DON'T GET IT is the ironically named podcast which features the open-minded musings of two middle-aged curmudgeons (Noah Tarnow and Bill Scurry) who love pop culture, talking about a hot topic of the week. Bill and Noah talk about America's pastime for the third time this year as they discuss the unorthodox league in South Carolina. @noahandbillshow.bluesky.social -- @billscurry.bluesky.social -- @noahtarnow.bluesky.social This week's theme: "Yes We Have No Bananas” by Louis Prima. Living in a post-Venice/Telluride/Toronto world means it's time get serious about our Oscar predictions and that's just what we're doing this week. On episode 307 of the AwardsWatch podcast, AW Editor-In-Chief Erik Anderson is joined by Executive Editor Ryan McQuade and Associate Editor Sophia Ciminello to look at what shined at the fests, what lost its luster and the introduction of a new bombshell in the villa. In our conversation, we begin with the top winners at Venice and with Alexander Payne's contentious jury, including how Jim Jarmusch's Father Mother Sister Brother could factor in and if Benny Safdie's Silver Lion Best Director win for The Smashing Machine was what that film needed. Next we move to Telluride, where Hamnet was the most-liked film (while we still await the results of Michael's Telluride Blog polls of critics and non-critics) and how the Cannes winners held their ground. Moving to Toronto and Hamnet's People's Choice Award win keeps it at as a top tier contender and we talk about some films, like 1st runner-up Frankenstein, fared better at TIFF than it did at Venice and Telluride. Then we dive into Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, which began screening last week. While Ryan and Sophia had the film at the top of their predictions list last month, I was the idiot who rashly dropped it out of my top 10. That mistake is corrected here and we talk about the narratives at play for PTA, Chloé Zhao for Hamnet, Ryan Coogler for Sinners and Joachim Trier for Sentimental Value. You can listen to The AwardsWatch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music, YouTube and more. This podcast runs 1h37m. We will be back next week with a preview of the 2025 New York Film Festival. Till then, let's get into it. Music: “Modern Fashion” from AShamaleuvmusic (intro), “B-3” from BoxCat Games Nameless: The Hackers RPG Soundtrack (outro).
Is the church evolving… or just slowly fading out? In this episode, Nate and Pastor Joseph unpack the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways secularism is reshaping the American church—from cultural Christianity and cringey compromises to the real reasons people are walking away. With their usual balance of sarcasm, insight, and honesty, the duo dives into what happens when tradition clashes with a society moving further from faith. Whether you're deconstructing, reconstructing, or just spectating, this convo will make you think (and probably laugh). Is secularism the villain… or the mirror?
What happens when political influence meets national tragedy? In this In the Headlines episode, Nate and Pastor Joseph weigh in on the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk — and what it means for American culture, Christian politics, and the ever-blurring lines between pulpit, platform, and protest. They dive into faith, media, and the raw tension of leadership in a divided nation, with their signature wit and unfiltered honesty. This one's part analysis, part commentary, part wait… did they just say that?

Conceptual "dog" sound effects, a surreal experience with Ray Davies, and a spiritual Californian yard sale. John Myrtle "Originally hailing from Birmingham and now based in London, John Myrtle began carving his brand of slightly off-kilter, loveable bedroom pop in 2019 with demos he uploaded to SoundCloud. Having caught the ears of Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music, John was invited to play a live session, and soon his EP ‘Here's John Myrtle' was self-recorded to tape and released to critical acclaim from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, DIY and So Young Magazine. John followed this up with home-produced mini-album Myrtle Soup in 2021, which was met with equal critical praise and garnered fans from the likes of Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, Summer Salt, The Walters and Foxygen member and producer Jonathan Rado - whom John's 2024 single ‘How Do You Break a Heart?' was produced by. Recently, John has embarked on several tours across Europe and the rest of the world supporting the likes of Kate Bollinger and Cut Worms, and John is set to delight and warm hearts with his most accomplished album yet this summer. ‘Irresistible' - Marc Riley, BBC 6 Music ‘John is creating his own world of sonic magic' - So Young Magazine ‘Pop that's wonderfully lost in time' - Brooklyn Vegan" Excerpt from https://open.spotify.com/artist John Myrtle: Bandcamp: https://johnmyrtle.bandcamp.com Instagram: @john__myrtle Website: https://www.johnmyrtle.co.uk Records: https://johnmyrtle.bandcamp.com Merch: https://www.johnmyrtle.co.uk/shop The Vineyard: Instagram: @thevineyardpodcast Website: https://www.thevineyardpodcast.com Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@thevineyardpodcast
In the Bhagavad-Gītā, Kṛṣṇa describes, bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ sarva-loka-maheśvaram suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ jñātvā māṁ śāntim ṛcchati (BG 5.29). He said, "If you want śānti, what is śānti? Peace. If you want to feel peaceful, which is impossible in this world, and especially in Silicon Valley, then there are three things that you can come to understand which will allow you that peace you are looking for." The first one is that if you want the love that you're seeking in this world to be fully reciprocated, then give your heart to The Personality of Godhead. That's what it bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ means many people you give your love to can't give it back, true or false? But Kṛṣṇa can give unlimited love back. Whatever we give Him, even the tiniest gesture, if you just one day, unsophisticated, without any context, you just had an urge to offer God a little flower or leaf that you found, and you just offered it in a simple way—no ritual involved, just from the heart—He will accept it. That's one of the main themes of the Bhagavad-Gītā. If you're sincere and you try to offer something, then Kṛṣṇa will accept it, and He'll reciprocate directly with you, and He is only waiting for that. That is what bhakti means, "I understand that I'm looking for love in all the wrong places. I'm just trying to give my affection to those who can't fully reciprocate it." Incidentally, when we develop this sense of loving Kṛṣṇa, then we're able to more fully love everyone. Because our capacity for love for individual entities separated from Kṛṣṇa is limited. We may love them, and then we may hate them. But there's a deeper level of love when we understand that everybody's part of Kṛṣṇa: every animal, every plant, even some of the 52 cousins that we have that we don't like at all. We even love them because we know they're part of Kṛṣṇa. It's a different level of love. ----------------------------------------------------------- To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
It's mentioned in the Bhāgavatam. Kṛṣṇa says to Uddhava, "Sometimes sādhus live by the Gaṅgā, but then they take it for granted because it's in their backyard. And then they say, 'I'll go somewhere else to take a bath.'" So one has to study the mantra and remember how one is fortunate, and also stay in a humble state of mind. Be a beginner. Start over every day. Don't think, "I know this. I've got this. I've done this before." Instead, start over. "I'm helpless. I don't know anything." And that gives us a way to reverentially approach the process of chanting Haré Kṛṣṇa, which is the same as being in Kṛṣṇa's presence and invoking his presence. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Charlie Kirk was not just a "conservative" but a white supremacist who denigrated the advances of the Civil Rights era and sought to impose patriarchical subjugation of all but white men. Yet he was opposed as insufficiently "pro-white" by the so-called "Groyper Army" of Nick Fuentes. This raises the possibility that the anti-fascist rhetoric of Kirk's accused shooter, Tyler Robinson, was actually fascist pseudo-anti-fascism. In any case, those who are making the analogy to the early martyr of the Nazi cause Horst Wessel are all too likely to be vindicated: Kirk's death could similarly be exploited to consolidate fascist rule in the United States. Washington has placed a $50 million bounty on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, accusing him of running a cocaine empire called the Cartel of the Suns. But experts say the cartel barely registers on the DEA's radar. Instead, the U.S. is inflating it into a narco-state menace — a pretext for regime change and invasion.MintCast hosts Mnar Adley and Alan MacLeod are joined by:Diego Sequera, journalist with Misión Verdad in CaracasLeonardo Flores, co-founder of the Venezuela Solidarity Network and former analyst at Venezuela's embassy in WashingtonTogether, they expose how Washington is weaponizing myths about drug trafficking to justify intervention — and why Venezuela remains at the heart of Latin America's anti-imperialist struggle.
Question: What we can do from our part is to imbibe more during these readings and make the most out of whatever we are investing here. My point is that if you're processing something and you're also hearing, the mind is more absorbent. Any good hearing and chanting session leaves us with more questions than answers, because then we are eager to hear the next time. Even in reading continuously in a canto, oftentimes, the questions that come up early on are answered as we continue, or they're answered in discussion. I found the session last night to be especially helpful, as brainstorming is really powerful amongst devotees. There is a synergy that occurs in discussions, and Kṛṣṇa manifests out of that because of the goodwill of the devotees. In tamas, we're helpless. If you've ever felt helpless—for instance, if you have some addiction and you can't give up, or you feel so depressed that you can't do anything—this is the modality of tamas. Above tamas comes rajas. Rajas is the modality of intense activity. That is, we are creative. In rajas however, the setback is that no matter what we get, it's not enough, because we remain in that active and creative mode. We attain something, we create something, but it has to become more. We may attain a position—for instance, you may become a city council member, but then think, "Well, that's nothing. I want to be the mayor." When you become mayor, you may think, "Well, why don't I become governor?" And after becoming governor etc etc. There's never an endpoint. In modern parlance, it's called the hedonic treadmill; that is, no matter what I get, it's not enough. And there are plenty of songs and poems from ancient times and modern times expressing the experience of being in rajas and tamas. For instance, "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" and many, many more, like "Too Much Is Not Enough," etc. And then there's the highest of the modalities in this world, called sattva. Sattva is the modality of clarity, where we see ourselves beyond the body. Gone is the drive to attain something, because we realize we already are something. We are something that's so amazing. And as Kṛṣṇa describes in the Bhagavad Gītā, when you see yourself beyond the body, you realize that this is the most amazing thing: the soul itself. Kṛṣṇa says 'āścaryavat', he calls it amazing, 'āścaryavat.' Some see it as amazing, some hear of it as amazing. And when you analyze who you really are, you examine your consciousness, or you become introspective, then you don't feel that you have to attain anything necessarily, because you already are something, and you're here right now, and you feel tuṣṭa, or satisfaction in the self. This is sattva. But there's a modality beyond sattva, which is called śuddha-sattva, which is a completely transcendental realm—transcendental to the modes—meaning you've gone beyond any of the modalities of the material world. And this is pure consciousness. So the perfection of the teachings of Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is to come to that pure consciousness. This music is being imported from Vaikuṇṭha, many millions and many millions of miles away. So this is not just music of this mundane sound. Otherwise, why you are not tired, repeating it for many, many days? Any mundane sound, we repeat it, you cannot prolong it. You cannot prolong it. But we are..., we have learned this only Hare Kṛṣṇa, and you can chant this. And you also hear it. You're attracted.
