Patrick opens the hour talking about music genres, wrestling with the complex relationship between heavy metal, virtue, and personal taste, then shifts rapidly to heartfelt calls on food addiction and the tension between faith, practical steps, and deliverance prayers. Unexpectedly, the conversation veers toward rules for Catholic godparents and the emotional wrestle of regret over old sins. An unexpected question about Mary Magdalene and the meaning behind Jesus’ “don’t touch me” keeps the energy unpredictable till the end. 00:34 Email on heavy metal's positive themes 09:36 Losing weight after wife's illness 13:56 Dealing with guilt and doubt 14:53 Recognizing actions have consequences 20:39 Concerns about godparent eligibility 21:34 Godparent requirements in Catholicism 24:49 Spiritual warfare misconceptions 27:58 Discussing spiritual guidance strategies 31:33 Addressing personal temptations 41:09 Understanding Church Marriage Validity 42:25 Church annulment process details 49:28 Mary Magdalene's relationship with Jesus

Tia Levings is the New York Times bestselling author of A Well-Trained Wife and her newest book, I Belong to Me. She survived a Christian patriarchy cult, escaped a near murder-suicide, was excommunicated for telling her own story, and spent 15 years in intensive trauma therapy doing the work to put herself back together. Now she's handing you the map to healing from religious trauma. In this episode, Tia and I dig into the real mechanics of religious trauma recovery: why your body refuses to believe you're safe even when your brain knows it, what "aftermath" actually means (it's an agricultural word, and it will change how you see your own devastation), why grief work is not optional, and what agency has to do with the entire trajectory of your healing.Key Takeaways:What does it actually mean to "belong to yourself" after religious trauma has dismantled your sense of identity from the inside out?Why trauma survivors often write, speak, and even think about themselves in the passive voice, and what that reveals about the agency that was quietly stolen from themWhat the agricultural origin of the word "aftermath" tells us about why the most painful, raw season of your healing is also the most generativeWhy anger and bitterness after religious trauma aren't signs that something is wrong with you, and what they're actually trying to show youHow complex PTSD can keep a survivor locked in survival mode for years, making life-altering decisions in a state of ongoing shock without ever realizing itGet Tia's books:A Well Trained WifeI Belong to MeFollow Tia everywhere on social media! Welcome back to another episode of NDS Chronicles, where David Lee Corbo (The Raven), TopLobsta, and Matt Hepner read and react to real paranormal testimonies submitted by listeners. This episode explores strange encounters, supernatural experiences, cryptid reports, spiritual warfare, and the Biblical worldview behind the unexplained. From eerie stories that begin like Bigfoot encounters to discussions about the mysterious "hitchhiker effect," UFOs, demons, witchcraft, and spiritual deception, the hosts examine these reports through the lens of Scripture rather than popular paranormal culture. They also discuss how supernatural encounters can sometimes escalate into broader spiritual experiences, drawing connections between cryptid sightings, poltergeist activity, and Biblical discernment. The conversation expands into topics including the modern UFO phenomenon, MKUltra, telepathy, Hollywood's portrayal of aliens, and why the Bible remains the ultimate framework for understanding supernatural events. Rather than accepting paranormal claims at face value, the hosts compare testimony against Biblical teaching and encourage Christians to exercise wisdom and discernment. The episode also includes updates on Brohemian Grove, upcoming live events, the Nephilim Death Squad community, listener submissions, and future guests from the paranormal and Christian research communities. If you enjoy conversations about:Paranormal testimoniesUFOs and alien encountersBigfoot and cryptidsDemonic deceptionSpiritual warfareBiblical prophecyChristian apologeticsConspiracy research through a Biblical lens...then this episode is for you.Have you experienced something supernatural? Today's Bible Verse: "Do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you can obey its evil desires." — Romans 6:12 Romans 6:12 challenges believers to consider who or what is truly in control of their lives. After explaining the new life believers have in Christ, Paul issues a warning: don't allow sin to take the throne of your heart. While sin no longer has the ultimate power it once did over those who belong to Jesus, it still seeks to influence our thoughts, desires, and decisions. Want to listen without ads? The Bible is full of wonderful analogies, and one of the best is found in Proverbs, which paints a picture of godly mentoring and accountability.Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”The idea is that as pieces of iron are drawn against the other, each piece becomes sharper. A further application is made in Hebrews 4:12, which talks about Scripture as being a double-edged sword, and it is with His Word we are to sharpen each other. The goal is mutual accountability, and imparting wisdom for living. As author Michael Lazurek has written: “As the body of Christ, we forget that part of our job is to sharpen other brothers and sisters in Christ so that the flame in their hearts, put there by the Holy Spirit, continues to burn.”Although the “iron sharpens iron” analogy is often used to describe the relationship between men, the application is relevant for everyone who believes. Even at this moment, there are millions of women mentoring girls, and sharpening their wisdom in the Lord!Let's pray.Lord, thank you for giving us wonderful relationships that help us grow. Welcome to another profound session from the online "The Way" weekend retreat, where we open our hearts to the truth that we are all united in one eternal mind. Recorded during the Friday opening session, this episode sets a meditative tone for a deep exploration of our true, limitless identity. In this gathering, David and Kirsten lead a practical deep dive into the theme "The Gift of Timelessness," highlighting that our true I Am presence exists prior to time. By examining the nature of cause and effect, David explains how the cosmos of time and space is exposed as a massive veil projected by the ego to hide this eternal reality. The discussion gently guides listeners to look beyond these worldly illusions, emphasizing that the miracle of forgiveness is the means God has given us to reach our timeless nature and awaken to boundless joy, peace, and happiness. In the second part of the session David and Kirsten takes questions from the audience. The Way gatherings take place all summer until September 2026 and include comedy, teachings, films, music, panel discussions, and live Q&A sessions with David Hoffmeister.Register for The Way for free here: https://programs.the-christ.net/courses/the-way-of-the-mystic If you want to learn more about David Hoffmeister and Living Miracles events, visit https://circle.livingmiraclescenter.org/events Recording Date: Online, Friday, July 17, 2026Follow us on:YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/DavidHoffmeister https://www.youtube.com/@LivingMiraclesFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/ACIM.ACourseInMiracles Learn more about David & Living Miracles:https://circle.livingmiraclescenter.org/eventsLearn more about A Course in Miracles:https://ACIM.bizDavid's Spanish YouTube Channel is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP9Gw00CldPUmiu43y7fdWwDavid's Portuguese YouTube Channel is:https://www.youtube.com/@davidhoffmeisterucem
Guided Question How has God uniquely gifted you to serve others, and are you actively using those gifts to strengthen Christ's body—or are you content to simply attend church without engaging in His mission? Summary In this message, Dr. Robert Lewis walks through 1 Corinthians 12, explaining that the church is not merely an organization that runs programs but a living, supernatural body empowered by the Holy Spirit. Every believer receives spiritual gifts—not natural talents—to serve others, strengthen the church, and advance God's kingdom. These gifts are sovereignly distributed by the Holy Spirit and are meant to be exercised for the benefit of the whole body, not for personal recognition or spiritual status. Lewis highlights five foundational truths about spiritual gifts: they are given by the Holy Spirit, they vary among believers, they are distributed according to God's will, they provide believers with a unique place of ministry, and they ultimately call Christians to die to self in order to serve others. Discovering and faithfully using one's spiritual gift gives purpose, identity, and balance to the Christian life. The sermon then addresses the often-debated sign gifts—particularly miracles and healing. While acknowledging common arguments that some miraculous gifts ceased after the apostolic age, Lewis concludes that Scripture does not require that position. Instead, he believes God remains free to grant these gifts if He chooses, though any genuine manifestation must align with the biblical pattern and never contradict Scripture. Examining the New Testament, Lewis distinguishes miracles from healings and argues that biblical miracles primarily authenticated God's revelation, while biblical healings were instantaneous, complete, undeniable, and publicly verifiable. He expresses skepticism toward many modern healing ministries because they often lack these biblical characteristics, while affirming that God still answers prayer and sovereignly heals according to His will. Lewis concludes by returning to Paul's central message: the church flourishes only when every believer discovers and faithfully exercises the spiritual gifts God has given them. A Spirit-filled church is marked not by impressive programs or religious ritual, but by ordinary believers serving one another through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. Outline The supernatural nature of the church Five foundational truths about spiritual gifts Discovering your God-given identity through ministry Spiritual gifts require self-denial and servant-hearted living Are the sign gifts still active today? Biblical perspectives on miracles and healing The difference between God's healing and the gift of healing The church's call to use every believer's spiritual gifts Key Takeaways The Church Is a Living Body — The church is a supernatural organism empowered by the Holy Spirit, not merely an institution or organization. Every Believer Has a Spiritual Gift — The Holy Spirit sovereignly gives each Christian unique gifts to strengthen the body of Christ. Your Gift Gives You Purpose — Discovering and using your spiritual gift provides identity, direction, and meaningful ministry within the church. Ministry Requires Dying to Self — Spiritual gifts are never for self-promotion but for serving others in humility and sacrifice. God Is Sovereign Over Spiritual Gifts — While Scripture allows for God to work miraculously today, every claimed gift or miracle must be measured against biblical truth. God Still Heals — Though Lewis questions many modern healing ministries, he affirms that God continues to answer prayer and heal according to His sovereign will. A Healthy Church Is a Serving Church — The church reaches its fullest strength when every believer actively employs their spiritual gifts to serve others. Scripture References 1 Corinthians 12 — Spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to build up Christ's body. 1 Corinthians 14 — Greater emphasis should be placed on gifts that edify the whole church. Romans 12:1–8 — Present yourself as a living sacrifice and faithfully use your spiritual gifts. Matthew 10:1 — Jesus gives His apostles authority over unclean spirits and disease. 2 Corinthians 12:7–10 — God's grace is sufficient, even when He chooses not to remove suffering. 1 Peter 4:10 — Every believer should use their gift to serve others faithfully. Matthew 16:24–25 — Following Christ requires denying yourself and giving your life away. Recorded 7.25.82

Often times we place so much pressure on ourselves to achieve the goal, whatever it may be, that we for get that one step forward is better than no steps forward. There is no such thing as failure, unless you quit. Everything in life is practice. Athletes practice to compete and then consider the competition practice for the next competition. Thinking this way can actually bleed over into life as well. Everything we do is just practice for life. Persistence, dedication, discipline, learning to deal with setbacks. Meditation is the same way. We are practicing for life. Mindfully. One breath at a time.

Spiritual growth doesn't happen automatically—it requires intentional choices, consistent action, and a heart that is willing to grow. In this life-changing message, Rev. Roland Anang explores 2 Thessalonians 1:3–4, revealing why faith must be cultivated and why many believers remain spiritually stagnant despite years of attending church. Time alone doesn't produce maturity; participation does. Discover the biblical progression of faith through passages such as Matthew 15:28, Romans 10:17, and Hebrews 11, as the message examines the different levels of faith found in Scripture: Little Faith Weak Faith Strong Faith Great Faith One of the most powerful truths shared is that every believer begins their Christian journey with the same measure of faith. The difference isn't in what you're given—it's in how you develop it. Using the illustration of an electrical wire carrying current, the message explains that while God's power is limitless, your ability to experience and walk in that power is closely connected to the strength of your faith. Faith is the channel through which God's promises are received and activated. You'll also learn: Why spiritual growth is a personal responsibility. How faith grows through consistently hearing God's Word. The hidden dangers of fear, doubt, and negative influences. Why your environment and the voices you listen to matter. Practical ways to strengthen your faith every day. If you've ever wondered why your faith feels stagnant or how to move from simply believing to confidently trusting God, this message offers practical, biblical encouragement to help you grow.
In this interview, Spencer Dalke talks with minister David McKay about the importance of regularly examining our spiritual health. Drawing on themes from his pastoral ministry and a sermon series developed after the COVID lockdowns, McKay explains how Christians can assess their growth without falling into unhealthy introspection or discouragement. The conversation explores key marks of spiritual vitality, including love for Christ, feeding on Scripture, prayer, worship, fellowship, repentance, and perseverance through trials. McKay emphasizes that self-examination must always lead believers back to Christ, whose grace is sufficient for every weakness and failure. He also offers encouragement for those enduring long-term suffering, reminding listeners that God uses even difficult seasons to deepen faith, cultivate humility, and conform His people to the likeness of Jesus. Ultimately, this episode is a call to pursue spiritual health through the ordinary means of grace while resting in the hope and strength that Christ alone provides. Text: Mark 11:27-33Teacher: Troy Maragos Big Idea: When Christ confronts us with His authority, avoidance is an option—but it might not be the right response. 3 Ways to Stay Spiritually Neutral: The Spiritually Neutral are unwilling to submit to Christ's authority—but True Followers submit to His authority. The Spiritually Neutral reason around the evidence of Jesus—but True Followers receive His truth. The Spiritually Neutral fear man more than fearing God—but True Followers respond to Christ with resolve.

The West might be becoming less ‘religious', but according to many it's becoming a lot more 'spiritual'.In fact, “spiritual but not religious” is described as a “rapidly growing faith group” in America, with as many as 20 per cent of people falling into the category. And yet, there's nothing new about being spiritual but not religious; it's been Christianity's dancing partner – or maybe sparring partner - for thousands of years.FOR FULL SHOW NOTES - CLICK HERE CREDITSUndeceptions is hosted by John Dickson, produced by Kaley Payne, directed and edited by Mark Hadley. 193 From Grief Math to Spiritual Play: A Journey with Chaplain Jessica Shannon Hospice Explained host Marie Betcher (RN and former hospice nurse) interviews board-certified chaplain, writer, certified grief coach, and hospice bereavement coordinator Jessica Shannon. Jessica explains how chaplains provide interfaith support without proselytizing and help families find hope in whatever sustains them, including in complex situations where family members draw on different sources such as faith or science. She describes pediatric spiritual play—rooted in child development and adapted from Jerome Berryman's Godly Play—using tools like bibliotherapy, coloring prompts, and "emotional Uno" to help children express feelings and process illness and grief, sometimes facilitating honest family conversations about dying. Jessica also discusses adapting these approaches for adult bereavement support and introduces her book, The Sum of Grief, based on her mother's sudden death when Jessica was 17years old, and her later experience of "grief math" as she approached her mother's age at death, with a future episode planned on pet loss. 00:00 Welcome and Disclaimer 00:29 Meet Host and Guest 03:53 Chaplaincy and Bereavement Role 07:07 Pediatric Spiritual Play Basics 08:42 Bibliotherapy Case Story 10:44 Working With Parents Too 13:27 Interfaith Support and Hope 15:57 Spiritual Play Tools and Games 23:28 Adapting Play for Adults 25:41 Her Book and Grief Math 34:47 Closing and Pet Loss Teaser 36:40 Final Thanks and Subscribe https://www.sutrahouse.com/books/cml077vxw0000lb04pa71ymyu If you want to help, you can donate to help support Hospice Explained at the Buy me a Coffee link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Hospice Hospice Explained Affiliates & Contact Information Buying from these Affilite links will help support this Podcast.
