Today, Many in America Live and Act as “enemies of the Cross of Christ” Thereby, Traveling the Road to Eternal Death MESSAGE SUMMARY: God has told us that we are His children and citizens of Heaven. To this end, God has given us the Holy Spirit as a pledge of our inheritance as His child. Also, God gave you the Holy Spirit to provide you with the power to live a Spiritual life. However, far too many continue to live and to act as “enemies of the Cross of Christ” by having their minds focused on earthly things as the lords of life. If this picture of your life-actions and life-focus describes you, then you very well may be on the road to eternal death and destruction. Therefore, you must return to Jesus and His way of doing things – Jesus' pattern of discipleship, servanthood, and submission is a path to your Salvation. Paul, in Philippians 3:18-20, defines an “enemy of the Cross of Christ: “For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.". Jesus Followers have their life-focus driven by the realization that they are His child and a citizen of Heaven; therefore, you and your life-focus, as a Jesus Follower, are all precious to God since He sacrificed so much to adopt you as His child.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I praise you because your love seeks my good in any and every situation. Forgive me for the seeds that I have squandered. Soften my heart to surrender to your will in and through me. In Jesus' name, amen.        Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 120). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Past Failures. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Grace. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). In this father-son conversation on the Dad Edge Podcast, I sit down once again with my son Ethan as we wrap up our August series on what it really means to grow from boyhood into manhood. This episode digs into the lessons society often fails to teach young men—like emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and the importance of spiritual leadership.   We share personal stories—some funny, some raw—about patience, distractions, and the times I've missed the mark as a dad. Ethan opens up about his work, his relationship, and how he's learning to grow into the kind of man the world truly needs. Together, we unpack what fathers and sons alike can do to become intentional leaders in their families, relationships, and communities.     TIMELINE SUMMARY [0:00] - Welcome to the Dad Edge movement and today's theme [2:02] - What kind of men the world needs (and what's missing today) [3:33] - Morning routines and health habits for energy and focus [4:06] - Ethan's take on toxic behaviors and emotional regulation [6:13] - Why patience is a skill every man must learn [9:08] - The dangers of unchecked anger and modeling healthy behavior [10:43] - Spiritual leadership: why families need fathers of faith [12:55] - Technology distractions and missing moments with family [14:13] - Ethan's memory of a walk interrupted by a work call [16:04] - Why presence matters more than productivity for kids [17:11] - Emotional IQ and learning to communicate feelings clearly [19:34] - The “blame game” in conflict and what's really being argued [21:29] - Why stating what you do want changes arguments instantly [23:51] - Communication lessons that transform relationships [26:14] - Humor, family dogs, and how laughter shapes connection [28:26] - Ethan's approach to relationship check-ins with his girlfriend [32:10] - Why small gestures (videos, letters, notes) keep love alive [34:09] - Preventative maintenance in relationships—like car care [35:41] - Ethan's life transitions: work, school, and EMT training [37:00] - Looking back: how podcasting captured growth in real time [39:22] - Lessons learned from starting with imperfect beginnings [41:25] - Tangents, laughter, and building stronger bonds through honesty [42:29] - Resources, free tools, and a final call to lead with intention     5 KEY TAKEAWAYS   1. Patience Is a Choice, Not a Trait Life tests your patience daily—but choosing to pause, breathe, and respond with calm sets the tone for your family and your relationships. 2. Spiritual Leadership Matters A father who prays, leads spiritually, and models faith gives his family the foundation they need to thrive—not perfection, but presence. 3. Distractions Cost Connection Every time work or technology interrupts family time, the message sent is “this is more important than you.” Presence is the true gift kids crave. 4. Communication Is Preventative Maintenance Arguments often circle around what we don't want. Learning to clearly state what we do want transforms conflict into connection. 5. Relationships Grow Through Small, Intentional Acts From handwritten letters to a quick morning video, little efforts create lasting connection. Relationships require maintenance—just like everything worth keeping.       LINKS & RESOURCES   First Phorm Supplements: https://www.thedadedge.com/1358 CREATINE LINK: https://1stphorm.com/products/micronized-creatine-monohydrate/?a_aid=dadedge Hydration Sticks: https://1stphorm.com/products/hydration-sticks/?a_aid=dadedge 25 Intimate Conversation Starters (Free Resource): https://www.thedadedge.com/25questions Dad Edge Podcast Website: https://www.thedadedge.com/podcast Join The Alliance: https://www.thedadedge.com/alliance Dad Edge Tools & Resources: https://www.thedadedge.com/tools     If this episode gave you a new perspective on fatherhood, marriage, or raising sons, please rate, follow, review, and share the podcast. No Compromise Radio Podcast

In this episode of the No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike discusses spiritual traps, focusing specifically on pride. He argues that pride is a theological trap that is the antithesis of humility. Mike uses the example of Jesus's disciples arguing about who among them was the greatest after Jesus had just taught them about His own suffering and death. He contrasts this with Jesus's teachings on humility and service, citing examples like Jesus using a child as an object lesson for greatness and the ambition to please the Lord rather than to seek personal glory. He concludes by offering questions for self-reflection to help listeners identify pride in their own lives and encourages them to focus on Jesus as the "Great One". Theresa Rosenthal had a rough start in life. She watched her father abuse her mother, and then when she was six, a family friend sexually abused her. Like so many that suffered at the hands of a predator, Theresa pushed the pain down into a secret place, and for decades, she battled with depression and substance abuse. Finally, one day she was sitting in front of her house and just blurted out to God, “What am I supposed to do?”Within 24 hours, she had a Bible from a new friend who reached out to her, and even though some of Theresa's bad choices would land her in jail, her friend and that Bible, were constant sources of healing. Today, she's a member of a loving church, and she tells anyone who will listen about God's grace in her life. Daniel 4:2 says, “I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the most high God has done for me.” Too often we are too tribal. We think God only works in our circles, but the fact is, God has always been the definition of inclusive. The Bible makes it very clear that God's grace is available to anyone in all times and places. Matthew 5:45 is a very interesting verse that illustrates this. It says, “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” That's fascinating. What might seem unusual or even unjust to us is routine for God. Because God takes the long view. He knows that our lives on Earth are brief. So, if he gives grace to a bad person, he's thinking of that person's eternal place. And let's face it, there are plenty of times in our lives that we didn't deserve grace. But he gave it anyway. In God's economy, a Babylonian brickmaker from 3,000 years ago is as valuable as you are. Theresa Rosenthal was warmed by that grace at a time when she was doing drugs and spiraling into depression, and she had no ability to improve her life. And that's the point of grace. God gives it to a variety of people and circumstances. And life would be unbearable without it. Let's pray. Father God, your grace sustains us, in bad times and in good times, and we might take our focus off you. Sometimes that grace is almost unseen. We might not be aware of it until years later when looking back gives us insight. Thank you for giving us what we don't deserve. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! 1 Timothy 4:1-161 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.6 If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. 7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.11 Command and teach these things. 12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

The Power of Choosing Joy in Life's Valleys | with Elle Cardel

Stephanie Rousselle welcomes Elle Cardel, author of “She Delights”, a book about experiencing delight in God, even during seasons of suffering. Elle offers insight into cultivating deep faith, biblical joy, and intimacy with God. True delight in God is cultivated through deep engagement with Scripture, honest and continuous prayer, and a perspective of gratitude. The spiritual strength to endure hardship flows from knowing God delights in us, not for what we do, but because of Christ. The legacy the believer leaves is a testimony that “nothing satisfies like Jesus”—a lesson to pass on in both word and life. Elle Cardel emphasizes that shallow faith—one reliant on mere Sunday attendance, occasional Bible verses, or inspirational talks—cannot sustain us through life's inevitable hardships. True resilience in faith comes from immersing ourselves in God's Word, not just secondhand knowledge from others. Elle describes this as becoming “Bible geeks”—students eager to soak up the living and active Word of God so that, when suffering comes, our roots are deep, and we know God is with us. This depth equips us to see suffering as an environment where God delights to meet and transform us. Elle distinguishes joy from happiness. Happiness fluctuates with circumstances, whereas joy is a fruit of the Spirit and accessible to us at all times, especially when we choose it. Elle shares a deeply personal story about her daughter Selah's medical crisis, during which Elle discovered that grief and joy can coexist. Through vulnerability and seeking God in her private pain, Elle experienced God's palpable presence—realizing that delighting in God amid suffering is an act of worship, not the result of easy circumstances. Stephanie and Elle discuss the importance of savoring life—choosing to rejoice in what is, rather than fixating on what is not. They encourage us to approach life with the mindset of “savoring,” which, in French, connects closely to both delight and deliciousness. This means joy is something to be tasted and experienced, even in dark valleys, by recognizing God's blessings and presence in small, everyday moments. Spiritual disciplines such as regular Bible reading and prayer should be established before crisis hits. These practices are like the roots of the tree in Psalm 1, deep and sustaining even in seasons of drought. Elle acknowledges that motivation may wane, but real change comes from choosing to meet God in His Word, pushing past feelings of laziness or intimidation, and allowing scripture to transform us over time—just as food nourishes the body slowly. Elle describes prayer as both lifeblood and lifeline—a means of connecting honestly with God. Prayer need not be formal or perfect; it's about bringing every emotion and mundane task before God and seeking His presence in all aspects of life. She recommends practical habits like breath prayers and attaching prayer to daily activities, making prayer natural and constant. Elle stresses that all intimacy and delight with God are rooted not in performance, but in grace— through “imputed righteousness:” We are loved and delighted in by God because of what Jesus accomplished. Our spiritual effort doesn't earn His acceptance; instead, we respond in joyful obedience out of gratitude for His love. Our identity as beloved children of God is secure in Christ. Delighting in God is not a shallow cliché. It is a sustaining, daily posture, rooted in His delight in us and nourished by intentional habits, steadfast faith, and the overwhelming grace found in Jesus. MORE ABOUT ELLE CARDEL Hi! I'm Elle Cardel (yep, it rhymes!), a sinner saved by God's great redeeming love and grace, wife to my college sweetheart, Michael, and mother to our two little loves, Selah and Aidan! I was born and raised in the south and live in the heart of middle Tennessee with my family. (Although, some may find that hard to believe since I cannot stand the taste of sweet tea.)  I'm a full-time coffee-sipper, word-writer, friend-hugger, book-reader, shower-singer, and DIY-dreamer. Most importantly, I delight in encouraging women of faith to be proactive in their pursuit of knowing God and delighting in the truths of His Word. I do not take this responsibility God has entrusted to me lightly. Needless to say, I'm so glad you are here and hope you will choose to stick around! https://www.daughterofdelight.com/who-we-are  MORE ABOUT SHE DELIGHTS In a world that tempts us to chase after temporary joys and fleeting pleasures, the call to delight in the Lord remains firm and true. But what does it actually mean to delight in Him? And how can we cultivate a life that reflects that joy—even in the hardest seasons? She Delights: Cultivating a Heart That Reigns & Sustains is an invitation to experience the joy and strength found in abiding in Christ. Through biblical wisdom, personal reflections, and thought-provoking insights, this book will guide you toward a deeper understanding of what it means to live a life anchored in God's goodness. Details and registration here: https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer  There are a few things in our Christian life that we know we should do more, or at least better – and prayer just might top the list. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, I'm going to humbly offer to share the little I have learned from others about the joy of prayer. I will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for me as we, together, learn to pray. If you find prayer intimidating, or if your lack of prayer makes you feel guilty or “less than,” then this is the place for you! If you have been a student of prayer for many years, this is the place for you too! If you have breath in your lungs, then prayer can become one of the deepest joys of your day. Don't miss out! A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT PRAYER To pray is to believe that God not only hears, but that He responds. It is to stand in the gap for a broken world, wielding the authority of Christ, empowered by the Spirit, and trusting in the goodness of the Father. The question is not whether prayer works, but whether we are willing to pray the kinds of prayers that invite God's Kingdom into the darkest places of the earth—and of our own hearts. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. THE MINDSET BEHIND THIS COURSE Before we begin, let me tell you the obvious: I don't really know how to pray. I'm a humble student and absolute beginner at the holy endeavor that is prayer. So, this course isn't really about what I've learned, or any wisdom I might have gathered. But, I've sat at the feet of many prayer warriors over the decades, through books and teachings. So, I'll share what I learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, I will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking myself too seriously. I will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. FInally, I will introduce you to some of the most influential prayer warriors of our history as the Body of Christ. Most importantly, I will invite YOU to pray! Learning to pray comes from praying. Our humble ambition is to inspire you to pray, and to give you a few tips on how to do that. Then, it's up to you! Prayer is a lifelong endeavor. Let's make it delightful together! So, let's get started. Support us on Gospel Spice, PayPal and Venmo!

A reassuring hug from Mom was all the boy needed to mend his hurt pride.None of us are perfect, whether we're 8 years old or 80. God's love for us is so deep He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins because He knew we'd need forgiveness. Asking for a Friend – Week 3 How do I grow as a follower of Christ? This week, Pastor Shannon tackles one of the most common questions Christians ask: What does it really mean to grow as a disciple? Through John 16, Acts 2, and Galatians 5, we see that growth doesn't happen by trying harder—it happens by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual growth comes when we prayerfully expect the Spirit to move in every part of our lives. We also introduce 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, an opportunity for our church family to create space for God to work in powerful ways.

This week, Pastor Suzy Silk continued our Summer sermon series, The Fifth Act, with a sermon on Acts 18 and the ministry of Priscilla and Aquila in the Early Church. By studying their twenty year ministry journey with Paul and other disciples, God shows us that we are not meant to do life or ministry alone. We must ask God to help us be fruitful disciples that lay down our lives to see Him glorified, and faithfully carry the Gospel wherever we go.

Navigating Spiritual Desolation - Spiritual Desolation: Be Aware, Understand, Take Action with Fr. Timothy Gallagher Fr. Timothy Gallagher and Kris McGregor discuss St. Ignatius' rules on spiritual desolation and distinguishing between the actions of the good spirit and the enemy during the discernment process. In particular, Rules 5 through 9 provide practical guidance, advising against changes during desolation, promoting active spiritual tools, and addressing the causes and purposes of desolation. Fr. Gallagher makes note of the trial aspect, encouraging patience, and stresses the humility of recognizing spiritual consolation as a gift from God.  The post SD2 – The Practical Guidance of Rules 5-9 – Spiritual Desolation: Be Aware, Understand, Take Action with Fr. Ryan Swanson introduces The Cord 2.0, highlighting two big additions—Check‑In Streaks (consistency‑focused medals) and bi‑weekly 3‑minute devotional challenges—and explains why accountability tools are meant to lead us to Jesus, not replace Him as the answer. He also unpacks motivations (relationships, ministry, family) and shows how these secondary motives should funnel us back to Christ as the true source of purity and victory. You'll also hear a refresher on The Cord's core features like daily 1–10 check‑ins, 90‑second video reflections, and the SOS button rooted in Ecclesiastes 4:10 (never alone).Topics DiscussedWhy The Cord exists: daily light and never‑alone accountability (Ecc. 4)How daily 1–10 check‑ins + 90‑sec videos keep it sustainableSOS button: instant “I'm not alone” signaling during temptationThe Cord 2.0 Feature #1 – Check‑In Streaks (consistency over “purity streaks,” with medals at 7/30/100 days and beyond)The Cord 2.0 Feature #2 – Bi‑weekly 3‑minute devotional challenges (trusted preachers; keeps groups Christ‑focused)Motivation vs. the Answer: letting strong motives lead you to Jesus, not replace HimKey TakeawaysAccountability is a means, not the end; Jesus is both the end and the means of purity. The Cord 2.0's Check‑In Streaks reward consistency, closing the “skip‑a‑bad‑day” loophole and keeping daily light on your heart.Short, bi‑weekly devotionals inject life and keep the focus on Christ so groups don't drift into a “dry confessional booth.”The SOS button helps you refuse isolation: you're known, prayed for, and expected to give account—tonight.Ready to download the Cord App? Have you ever thought much about grace? We hear the word, but the concept itself might be a little elusive. That might be because it's hard for humans to understand and embrace.Grace means simply that someone gives you something with no strings attached. Just for your good.Ephesians 2:8 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”The Bible tells a simple story, really. Mankind sinned and brought evil into the world. God made everything, so He has the right to set the rules. And in His system, sin cannot be tolerated. He made a way for us to be reconciled to Him, through His son, Jesus Christ.Often, we try to do things to help life along. We plan, plot, and come up with programs and agendas... Our own ideas seem like the right thing to do.But God's way is always the right thing to do. Setting aside our own ego is key to finding peace in Christ. We literally don't have to do anything for it. We accept it in faith. That's the gift of God.Let's pray. Lord, in your love for us, you make our path simple. Not always easy, but simple. We thank you for the gift of eternal life. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! In this episode of What She Did Next, Kehla is joined by Dawn Sinclair—Gene Keys Guide, retreat facilitator, author of Self, and 1/4 Emotional Generator—for a poetic and powerful conversation about releasing exhaustion, reclaiming vitality, and awakening to purpose through the wisdom of the Gene Keys. Dawn shares how the threat of losing her long-time teaching job cracked open her carefully constructed identity and revealed just how much of herself she had abandoned to do “all the right things.” That moment of upheaval sparked a journey through design school, entrepreneurship, burnout, and finally, spiritual alignment. It wasn't strategy that saved her—it was surrender. Together, Dawn and Kehla explore how her Gene Keys illuminated the deeper patterns behind her overgiving (40.4 Radiance), magnetism through stillness (52.1 Pearl), and gift of connection and rhythm (15.4 Culture). Dawn also shares how understanding the concept of prenatal vs. postnatal chi helped her rebuild her health and energy after years of depletion.
