Those include readily available clean water and ice, as well as access to “cool zones” and the right to take and extend breaks when they feel overheated. The contract further mandated UPS to install fans in the largely non-air-conditioned warehouses where packages are sorted and loaded, and in the front of vehicles. Delivery trucks have also been outfitted with heat exhaust shields and vents. UPS Teamsters, though, are still waiting on some of these historic protections. UPS is required to equip its fleet with at least 28,000 new air-conditioned delivery trucks by the time the current contract expires in 2028; toward that end, all new vans UPS purchases after January 1, 2024, are supposed to have air conditioning. As of last summer, CNN reported, it hadn't bought any. UPS Brand Management Representative Becca Hunnicut did not directly answer my questions about whether UPS has purchased any new delivery vehicles equipped with air conditioning since the beginning of 2024 and if any of its delivery trucks currently have air conditioning. Things are hot in America this summer. And they're only getting hotter. The VA is cutting 30,000 jobs, Trump is threatening to bomb Moscow and Beijing, Hegseth is doing Hegseth things at the Pentagon, and New York City is hovering around one hundred degrees while a socialist is leading in the polls for Mayor. Shit is toasty and it's only gonna get hotter. You've already heard from Brian Bengs in Episode 334 and we're pretty sure you'll be hearing from Dan in short order. But today we've got the third candidate, and he's one that might just make the most noise. Because he left the Democratic Party and announced his run as an independent just before July 4th. He's more evidence of the move away from the parties and towards the independent movement. He's Todd Achilles, independent veteran candidate for Senate from the great state of Idaho. He grew up on a family farm, served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander and armor officer and led teams at T-Mobile, Hewlett-Packard, and several start-ups. He's now a teacher and advocate for veterans and is running to fight for fair markets and livable wages for all Idahoans. And he's a moderate, common-sense, patriotic, strong breath of fresh air.  It's the kind of campaign we love to see and the kind of candidate we love to share with you—the real independent Americans. Leslie Grandy, a seasoned executive with leadership roles at Apple, Amazon, Best Buy, and T-Mobile, discusses the underestimated nature of creative capability and how leaders can systematically cultivate it.
