We've all heard that "the eye is the window to the soul," but have you heard of strategically utilizing the visual system to get rid of pain, improve emotions and normalize countless health conditions that are otherwise difficult to treat? Today's conversation with Abe Al-Baba will knock your socks off with both the education he provides and the anecdotes he shares with how he helps his clients reach peak performance and/or improve their overall health status. This is one of the more interesting conversations I've had in quite some time!Abe and I met at the HYDRATE Summit that was put on by Tracy Duhs a couple of weekends ago. We were there to learn about water, but he and I got to talking and soon discovered that we shared countless other mutual interests. After hearing about his novel techniques for successfully helping his clients, some of which are seemingly beyond simplistic (but have deep neurological basis), I knew I had to have him on the podcast so that he could share his knowledge and stories with you all. He even walked me through a couple of quick assessments/treatments that I can use on myself, including how to treat my vagus nerve with red light therapy! Isn't that something we could all benefit from in this fast-paced, high-stress world we live in?Abe Al-Baba is the author of Fuel Your Performance™ and CEO of 3 in 1 Elite, a sports performance company. His absolute passion is paving the way to a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. Abe is one of San Diego's Top Trainer's by Discover/Pacific SD Magazine. Over the past decade, he has really embraced the power of neuroscience. Furthermore, his book, "Fuel Your Performance," helps any and all optimize their performance.I hope you enjoy the conversation today with Abe. Hello and welcome to episode 65 of Tasty Pages, a podcast by Cooking The Books! We discuss 'Black Food', a collection of essays, poetry, artwork and recipes celebrating the African diaspora, edited by Bryant Terry. This is the first release on Terry's new imprint, 4 Color Books. We also chat about our recent visit to the Food & Wine Experience in Minneapolis - which was a bit lacking in the "food" portion. Victoria updates us on her progress as a pottery prodigy. Our show topic is: What are some record album covers with food on them? (We have a blog post on our web site with photos of some.) This leads to a deep dive into perhaps the most iconic example - Herb Alpert's 'Whipped Cream & Other Delights'! Johnny also takes a stroll down memory lane and shares stories about the time his band opened for 70's rock band Head East. We also have an installment of our "Food For Thought: Food idioms explained" as we explore the origins of the phrase "Not my cup of tea". Of course, there's a food joke - two, in fact. Because Victoria hated the first one. Good thing Johnny was prepared with a backup! You can purchase the book at https://amzn.to/3LmjGtE (as an Amazon affiliate, we earn from qualifying purchases).
