In this episode, Erin talks to Ryan Monahan about the hidden stressors in the body. These are things that are preventing someone from healing. Mostly, the person is unaware of these stressors because they are underneath the surface. For instance, you can be suffering from a heavy metal issue that will lead to gut infection, hormone imbalance, and poor immune function. Ultimately, Ryan wants people to live their best lives. Ryan explains why autoimmune diseases are on the rise – our modern life looks vastly different than it did one-hundred years ago. Industrialized diseases are also on the rise. Ryan says that it has everything to do with the radical shift in our diets and lifestyles. Unfortunately, it is out of alignment with what our body expects from us. Later, Ryan talks about thyroid health and his Hashimoto's diagnosis. After Ryan found out about his diagnosis, he made significant changes to his lifestyle. If you are looking to make substantial changes, the first step is to see a functional medicine doctor. Stay tuned as Ryan speaks about optimizing gut health and the one-percent change rule. In This Episode: [00:30]About today’s guest, Ryan Monahan [01:25] Common problems Ryan sees as an Autoimmune Protocol Coach [05:00] Autoimmune diseases are on the rise [07:55] About thyroid health and Hashimoto’s [16:05] All about functional medicine [28:50] Fixing mold and heavy metal problems in your body [39:45] Optimizing gut health [42:00] The way that we are living now is the extreme Quotes: “There is a lot of commonality between all autoimmune diseases.” “We have to look at health in a comprehensive and holistic way.” GUEST: Ryan Monahan, FDN-P - The Mindful Nutrivore Ryan Monahan is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P), clinical advisor for the medical director program at FDN, and certified Autoimmune Protocol Coach with a passion for uncovering hidden stressors that contribute to thyroid disease. Ryan spent over 10 years visiting more than 40 health professionals to find answers to his chronic health complaints until being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s in 2012. Since then, his mission has been to change the dialogue about chronic disease towards a holistic, functional approach. With the help of cutting edge functional lab work, Ryan helps his clients to identify the true root causes of their primary health challenges so that they can stop wasting time and resources, and start living their best life. Typically, his clients are those who have struggled with finding relief from their autoimmune symptoms. Oftentimes, they feel that they’ve “tried everything”, and that traditional medicine hasn’t served them. In his experience, there is a better way. Melainie Rogers, MS, RDN, CDN, CEDRD-S, is a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) and Supervisor and is dedicated to supporting others in their quest to achieve long-term recovery. She is the Founder and Executive Director of BALANCE eating disorder treatment center™ and melainie rogers nutrition, llc. In this episode, Erin talks to Melainie Rogers about how to know if you have a problem with food. Melainie says to ask yourself: ‘How much of my day do I spend worrying about food?’ If you often ask yourself question after question about food each day, then it might suggest a problem or obsessiveness. We strive to have a neutral relationship with food. Erin likes to think of food as fuel for our bodies. Also, if anxiety is stirred up surrounding food, it could suggest an unhealthy relationship with food. Then, Melainie explains the difference between disordered eating and an eating disorder. These fall along a spectrum. Disordered eating is when symptoms of overeating or restricting occur. These behaviors may happen once a week or once a month. However, it’s still distressing and should be of concern. Someone who is restricting most days of the week or also bingeing, that’s an eating disorder. The symptoms and behaviors are the same, it’s just less frequency. Disordered eating is still important, troublesome, and dangerous. Later, Melainie explains how social media plays a role in our self-image. Social media will give us a constant stream of images for us to compare ourselves to. Pre social media, we were only exposed to TV, magazines, and billboards. With social media, we have it 24/7. As we scroll, we are comparing ourselves. Whenever we compare ourselves to others, it always make us feel bad. Social media is one of the reasons we are seeing an uptick in eating disorders at this time. Stay tuned as Erin and Melainie talk about the relationship between women’s thoughts and their diets, why we need to change our “healthy” eating vocabulary, and much more! In This Episode: [00:30]About today’s guest, Melainie Rogers [01:00] How to know if you have a problem with food [03:00] The difference between eating disorders and binge-eating [06:10] How social media plays a role in our self-image [10:05] The connection between women’s thoughts and their diets [13:25] Why we shouldn’t say “clean eating” [17:15] About Orthorexia [20:50] Taking baby steps with your thoughts [24:20] When to take the first step in seeking help Quotes: “Disordered eating is like a badly sprained ankle – it’s still really bad, it might bother you for a few years, causing you a lot of pain, distress, and discomfort.” “When we compare ourselves, we usually feel worse about ourselves; it lowers our self-esteem and lowers our self-confidence. Also, it creates a distortion that we need to look like that person.” “Our mental anxiety can only increase because we feel like we are performing shortly.” “The most helpful relationship with people is food neutrality.” Resources: IG: https://www.instagram.com/erinroefit/ website: erinroe.com Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/erinroefit/ Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1208735172667732/ YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVFqZiXhmUD5G3c7fAJ5m-w?sub_confirmation=1 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/erin-roe-564066195/ Pinterest: pinterest.com/erinlr0318 Twitter: https://twitter.com/erinroefit Join my posse at our podcast Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MyEmpowerProject/ Redefining Wellness: The Ultimate Diet Free Guide: https://www.amazon.com/Redefining-Wellness-Ultimate-Diet-Guide/dp/1674393180 __________________________ Guest: Melainie Rogers Feel free to reach out to Melainie below: Twitter: https://twitter.com/MelainieRogers Website: https://balancedtx.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/balancedtx/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BALANCEedtc/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6FNWjY30kMH1cFzVz2qvhw Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/balancedtx/ Free Recovery Handbook: https://balancedtx.com/free-eating-disorder-recovery-handbook __________________________
In this episode, Babsi & Thomas of Luminousred speak about building a red light room in their home before they decided to start their own company. Thomas knows everything about light so it just made sense! In the past, both Babsi & Thomas had different health problems, including mood, burnout, and medical issues. After trying medicine and supplements, they realized that red light had the most significant impact. It inspired them to create their product for others. We need light. Sunlight provides benefits for our body’s processes; however, it can also harm your body. Red light is safer for our bodies and our bodies are more comfortable with reaping the benefits. These are some of the main advantages of red light therapy: Skin health Wound healing Circulation Less pain and inflammation Hormonal health Gut health How does red light therapy help our gut? Red light therapy is beneficial to your gut microbiome & you apply the light to your abdomen. It can help the balance of good and bad gut microbiome. Basically, red light therapy will create balance & it’s interesting to see how you can improve. Light will penetrate deep and alter biome in your gut lining. Do you need to prepare for red light therapy? Make sure you are adequately hydrated before red light therapy. Thomas says that fat will help your body convert it to energy, like MCT oil, and make it easier to feel energized during red light therapy. Plus, Thomas & Babsi speak about how red light therapy is used for recovery. Olympic teams have a red light booth to put the athletes in before and after training. The red light will create heat protein for the muscle; therefore, less cellular death happens. Babsi recommends a whole body setup for athletic recovery. Stay tuned as Babsi & Thomas talk hormone health! In This Episode: [00:45] About Luminousred [02:30] How Babsi & Thomas started their business [06:40] The benefits of red light therapy [09:30] How red light therapy relates to food [15:20] Red light therapy and muscle recovery [21:30] The benefit for hormone health Quotes: “We as humans need light.” -Thomas “We wake up in the morning and go straight to red light therapy.” -Babsi “Easy things can make you feel better.” -Babsi “Pro athletes are now seeing the importance of recovery.” -Babsi “Red light therapy can play a big role in balancing out our hormones.” -Thomas Please consult your physician before adding any treatment. We combined our professional expertise in lighting technology and psychology, sprinkled them with our experiences, and created a company that breaks down scientific research and offers high-end red light therapy devices. In the simplest terms, with Luminousred, we created a company that breaks down scientific research and offers high-end at-home red light therapy devices. Usually, products in the field can run up to 140k dollars and are only used by Olympic athletes or NASA astronauts. But to be honest, our true purpose goes far deeper than that. Due to health issues around two years ago, Thomas was in a situation in which his body suddenly lost its performance. Together we explored intensively on biohacking, and after many experiments, Thomas managed to make his body even more powerful. One major steppingstone here was red light therapy. We are hackers at heart, and we see that technologies, like light hacking, are only going to become mainstream and used by everyday people a long time ahead of us. And that is a pity. That is why we want to make that technology accessible for everyone to incorporate into daily life. And people who take the plunge and get a device for themselves usually cannot grasp the full extent of research and the ideal individual usage of this technology because it is not shown to them in detail. This mixture of factors leads to vast incomprehension among them. We want to change that and want to use this promising technology and make it more accessible and understood. In this episode, Felicia talks about Corporate Wellness. After years of struggle and personal growth, Felicia learned how to be happy and feel happy. It has guided her to work smarter and utilize an online space rather than physical gyms. She now helps corporate locations have employees who understand wellness, rather than employees who think a diet is a way to live. Felicia talks about making behavioral changes vs. completely overhauling our lives. It’s not going to be comfortable, and we should be taking baby steps when it comes to lifestyle changes. Dana Lynn Kaye brought to fruition her dream of a flavorful world and the end of boring, bland foods. With passion and persistence, she acted on that dream to make a positive change for herself and in the lives of others. In this episode, Dana opens the show discussing the inspiration behind Devotion Nutrition. The word devotion came along because she realized to accomplish your goals is one thing, but staying devoted is committing to a lifestyle of health and fitness. We should not give in to every craving. Dana loves protein; however, none of the flavors were appealing to her. Every meal Dana eats consists of 25 grams of protein. Yet, one day, Dana found out one of her favorite protein companies were lying about the amount of protein in a scoop. She felt utterly flabbergasted! The incident inspired Dana to sell her own protein and create her own lifestyle brand. Later, Dana explains to make her famous protein fluff. Protein fluff is like soft-serve ice cream. You can make it in a food processor – blend it until it fluffs up into an ice cream-like consistency. There’s no sugar, and twenty grams of protein. You can eat a massive amount of protein fluff before bed, and wake up with abs! Dana shows people various ways to use her products. The recipes are simply part of the education of her products. Plus, many creators on social media are sharing their recipes online as well. Stay tuned as Dana talks about her target market, utilizing social media marketing, and the importance of word-of-mouth. Bio Jeremy Slate is the founder of the Create Your Own Life Podcast, which studies the highest performers in the world. He studied literature at Oxford University and is a former champion powerlifter turned new media entrepreneur. He specializes using podcasting and new media and was ranked #1 in iTunes New and #78 in the iTunes top 100. He was named the #1 Podcast to Listen to by INC Magazine in 2019, as well as being named a Top Influencer by Forbes. After his success in podcasting, Jeremy Slate and his wife, Brielle Slate, founded Command Your Brand to help entrepreneurs get their message out by appearing as guests on podcasts. __________ In this episode, Jeremy opens the show discussing how he helps business owners with their public relations. People think public relations and marketing are the same things – they are totally different. PR is the thing that shows your credibility and helps you level up; it makes your marketing look better. PR is the know, like, and trust factor – it will change your online presence and your online footprint. Mediums are changing like crazy; new media is YouTube, Podcasts, and web shows. Jeremy teaches the small pond strategy. He’s from a town where nothing really happens, yet built a media footprint using a local newspaper that goes to everyone’s houses once a week. Next, Jeremy explains the importance of branding. Branding is the reason someone would choose you over someone else. If you don’t differentiate yourself from other brands, then you are just promoting a generic product rather than your product. People do business with people that they know. Build your brand as an individual and rise above the noise. Also, Jeremy speaks about the inspiration behind his podcast and his business, Command Your Brand. Jeremy has harnessed his limitless mindset to create abundance in his life – it hasn’t always been perfect or pretty. Some problematic situations will arise in our life; it helps to address ourselves as a spiritual being. Scientology is an applied religious philosophy that comes with tools to grow your business – it has been a massive game-changer for Jeremy. Listen to Jeremy speak about how good nutrition attributes to entrepreneurial success, and discusses multiple income streams, food awareness, and what you can expect when working with Jeremy. In This Episode: [00:20]About Jeremy Slate [01:50] Helping business owners with public relations [04:15] Why is branding so important? In this episode, Good Dee’s Deana opens the show talking about her baking mixes and cookies. Deana has not always had a positive relationship with food. Back in the day, Deana was insecure and did not understand everything about nutrition. No matter how much weight she would lose, she would have a distorted image of herself. Now, Deana has a positive relationship with food; food can be for memories, it can be delicious, and it is beautiful. She no longer has the voice in the back of her head, telling her to stop talking about food. Deana doesn’t look at food as bad or good; it’s either delicious or not delicious. When you first start low carb, it seems like such a huge task. Deana loves to cook, and she loves to bake. She was feeling so good without her carbs; however, she started craving chocolate chip cookies. Deana made a mix with sunflower seed flour. Her blends are gluten-free and sugar-free. Deana handwrites all of her recipes – she’s very old school in that way. She tests each mix dozens of times. Later, Deana gives tips for people who are looking to start a food business. Research until you can’t research anymore. She has analyzed nutritional labels and realized they were not correct. Make sure your label is accurate and do not trust the labs to do it correctly. Stay tuned for Deana’s advice for women who are looking to create. Sarah Small is the Empowered Empath supporting women entrepreneurs to create a thriving body, business, and life. She believes that the pathway to healing inevitably leads you to your soul's purpose. Sarah is on a mission to change the way we approach healing chronic illness. She has committed herself to helping other women who have hit healing and/or business plateaus to incorporate what she believes is the most potent aspect of our growth; the emotional, energetic, and spiritual. Sarah is a certified Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner, Timeline Therapy practitioner, bioenergetic practitioner, health coach, meditation teacher, EFT practitioner, vibrational crystal healer, oracle card reader, and ho'oponopono practitioner. In this episode, Sarah Small starts the show discussing healing. Sarah’s healing started with food – she removed all sorts of inflammatory foods from her diet. At some point, Sarah hit a plateau and was not feeling better; she was inflamed, fatigued, and ridden with anxiety. During this journey, Sarah discovered energy medicine and emotional healing. When Sarah was only focused on food, she unconsciously was in survival mode. Sarah never paused and listened to her body. What got Sarah to slow down was when her brother committed suicide. She finally allowed herself to get radically honest with her emotions. If you are looking to start a routine, Sarah says to slow down. Break your patterns and do something differently. This means switching up your routine and letting go of the things that are energetically draining and toxic. The first step is to assess what is serving you and what is not serving you. Ask your body and soul what it needs today. Then, Sarah discusses her digital courses, including one for people who are looking for alternative methods of healing chronic illness. Stay tuned to hear about Sarah’s new book and her advice for starting a business and also all about her Airstream Airbnb. Cristy ‘Code Red’ Nickel is the author of The Code Red Revolution.” She was a professional boxer and also landed a coaching role on MTV’s hit series “MADE.” She has written thousands of nutrition programs and has worked with clients from all over the world. In this episode, Cristy ‘Code Red’ Nickel joins the show and reveals the top three biggest lies around weight loss: You have to exercise to lose weight. You have to eat low fat to lose fat. You have to eat many little meals a day. Mindset is everything. Cristy focuses 100% on mindset. She emphasizes having a strong why. “You have to have a why that makes you cry.” Cristy explains how she takes time to help children understand the importance of healthy eating. Children are watching their parents all the time. If we educate our children and give them a choice on what they can eat, they will take more ownership over what is going into their bodies. Later, Cristy explains the story behind her nickname, ‘Code Red.’ Plus, Cristy describes the importance behind The Code Red Protocol & how it helps servicemen. Many first responders are overweight. The protocol is real food, water, and sleep. The responders have to go from zero to one-hundred in seconds. We need to take care of our cops, and Cristy’s protocol is the better way. Erin asks Cristy about putting yourself last & not prioritizing yourself. Stay tuned to hear Cristy describe the importance of sleep and The Code Red Revolution. View this interview on YouTube HERE! In this episode, Michele D’Angona joins the show and explains her transformation. Before Michele trained thousands of clients for over 10 years, she came out of a really unhealthy lifestyle. To regain control over her physical body, Michele had to be willing to go into dark corners of herself. When you harness the power of healthy eating, you begin to become empowered in many different ways. Michele always cared about superficial aspects of her body. However, she transformed and stopped partying and drinking. Shutting this down opened her up to her mental strength and manifestation. After Michele’s first show, she fell into a depression because she started gaining water weight and felt like she had no discipline. Now, Michele has developed programs that are spiritual and empowering experiences. Michele loves bringing people together and leading them on a path. Michele believes in following her intuition and had a vision of building a transformative healing center in Belize. In Belize, Michele realized that there was all this land for sale on an eco-community. She ended up buying the land from Canadians. People will be able to have a retreat like experience. Plus, Michele will rent it out to other practitioners, leaders, and guides who want to have their own retreat. Later, Michele speaks about the importance of nutrition. Erin & Michele discuss the significance of proper nourishment. At one point, she tried a vegan diet, despite the lack of information and healthy options out there. Michele lost 10 lbs of muscle mass in two weeks. We need to listen to our bodies and utilize intuitive eating. Just because everyone else eats rice, doesn’t mean it is right for our body. Listen to hear more about Michele’s herbalism studies, her online coaching business, and why she had to quit social media before returning again to help others along their physical and spiritual transformation journeys. Michele & Erin initially met in Bali and discuss the significance of spiritual awareness and evolution. The body mind and soul connection can lead to such beautiful awakenings. Blind NQ Bikini Competitor Explains Why Our Mindset is the Biggest Obstacle In this episode, Brittany explains how fitness found her via a bodybuilding Facebook ad. After her first show, she was hooked and continues to compete. People give up way before their body ever does. Brittany has multiple degrees in psychology, so she combines her mindset hacks into workouts with clients. If your motivation is fleeting, you need to have persistence and dedication. In the new year, people are very motivated to start their fitness goals. As the months go on, the motivation begins to deplete when other obligations come into play. Finding the right balance is where people get discouraged. If you are getting into fitness, know that your nutrition is a massive part of it. As long as you’re eating right for your body, that’s an enormous chunk of it right there. Brittany talks about how finding your why will push you to start right away. Sometimes it takes longer for people to find their why, as long as you focus on yourself – then you will always be improving. Make time for yourself and fit in exercise when you can. Nutrition is going to be the majority of weight-loss and health goals. Brittany explains the difference between her gym and franchise gyms. At big-box gyms, the machines will be taken, and your personal trainer will have to work around all the other gym patrons. Whereas, at One Fit Gym, the personal trainers can work on whatever station they need. Stay tuned to hear Brittany describe the challenges she had to overcome and ways to achieve your goals. Gregori Lukas shares the evolution of pet food. After working with a Holistic Veterinarian, he began educating dog & cat owners on why raw food is best. He opened THEO Pet Grocery in Montclair, NJ to make these options available to pet owners by selling excellent products, in addition to sharing information on feeding a species appropriate diet & how it can increase the health and longevity of our pets. His store is partly named after his dog Theo, but also yields a significant message with it’s acronym: The Healthy Evolutionary Options . Gregori also created a large facebook group called Holistic Animal Advice and Raw Feeding - THEO Pet Grocery to discuss and spread awareness of the latest in the pet food industry, alongside multiple Holistic Veterinarians. He talks about how the old ways of the pet food industry has really caused a lot of illness in our animals and it's evolved to what it is today, with the raw food movement. Erin asks the tough question of why most Veterinarians don’t advise we feed Raw Food. Thanks to Gregori, more information is being shared to educate all of us on the immense benefits of feeding fresh. The two talk about their favorite brand on the market currently, called Answers. Erin feels it’s an excellent start to switching your dog to fresh food. In addition, Gregori talks about the various ways we unknowingly introduce our pets to dangerous disease causing toxins and how there are safe alternatives we can replace those with. Provided below is a link to help you find a Holistic Vet in your area. Some integrate both Eastern & Western medicinal methods to help the symptoms your pet is experiencing. Erin thanks Gregori for taking part in My Empower Project where he ENLIGHTENS us, EMPOWERS pet owners to do your own research, encourages how we must EMBRACE the need to change, & EMBARK on stepping out of the norm, for own precious pets. They are family, and we are their entire world. When you visit Theo Pet Grocery either in person, or order online, be sure to tell Gregori & his employees that Lilly’s mom Erin sent you, or type it in the notes when ordering J Quotes: “Always remember can, never remember can’t.” “When we learn, we just move forward. In this episode, Erin talks to Marian about teaching client acquisition for coaches, consultants, and content creators. It doesn’t matter what you sell as long it has some sort of conversation. Marian has a way of teaching the system and also implementing the system. He specializes in helping brand owners with high ticket offers ranging from $2,000 and up. Marian mentions if you are just starting out, it’s important to understand who your ideal customer is and to know exactly what your offer is. He offers tips on the importance of knowing your competitors. If you have competition, it means people are willing to pay for that type of service. We want to look at competitors because they have already proved the model, and there is no reason to test something new if there is already a working model. One specific tip Marian shared is to identify their most popular videos on their channels. This episode is packed full of generous valuable business building advice. In this episode, Erin talks to Ashley Barnhart about creating the concept for her podcast. Once laid off from her job, it was the perfect time for Ashley to start the Adult Struggles Podcast. Ashley and her guests share their life struggles & lessons learned along the way, from ordinary everyday tasks to significant life milestones. Her & her friend wished they would have learned more real-life skills in school, hence Adult Struggles was born. Why isn’t there a class about filing your taxes and buying a house? Ashley attended Podcast Movement in Orlando, Florida, where she found community. She found it amazing to be at the event & surrounded by other people who have the same interest as herself. With loads of people in attendance, you get to meet others who just started their show & also people who have had their podcast for years. Queena Tahi hosts a podcast called Mompreneur BFF & speaks about all things motherhood & also social media. She loves hearing other moms, Mr. Moms, & non-moms share their stories of different definitions of motherhood. Erin has only been a dog mom, and says there shouldn’t be expectations based on age, since everyone’s journey is different. As Queena works from her home in Hawaii, she mentions how she went from a young mom to a business owner, & encourages moms to engage with each other since more often than not, they don’t have many adult conversations while raising their children. She shares the power of networking as she found other Polynesian women whom she would not have met if she didn’t start her podcast. Erin & Queena discuss their enjoyment of podcasting & Queena suggests just starting since everyone’s first try is only practice & you improve over time. Dr. Chris is a pain specialist focusing on adhesion treatment. He talks about soft tissue in our body and why so many suffer with pain for so long. Erin & Dr. Chris also chatted off the cuff about depression, emotional healing and keeping an open mind. In this episode, Erin talks to Dr. Chris about lingering aches and pains & what happens if we let them go untreated. Long-term continuing pain is, as Dr. Chris puts it, “like a small fire inside of your house….Pain is a signal from the brain, telling the body hey, there’s damage, and we need to do something about this…, or it will continue to grow and become more of a problem.” He further explains, “if you're doing things that are only giving you temporary relief, same thing, it's kind of like the fire gets turned to a very low flame, but because it's a fire and it just needs oxygen and wood and fuel, you will do put more stress on it and the fire will inevitably grow bigger again until ultimately what we see in our clinic is a fire. It comes close to burning somebody's whole house down.” They speak further about soft tissue work and Dr. Chris has thought about putting himself out there on social media about treating chronic pain and having a face-off with another doctor. Dr. Chris feels it is heartbreaking to see people who are stuck in pain, and that is why does the best he can to educate people about the problem. There are misconceptions about how to keep your body performing in tip-top shape. The biggest misconception is that being tight means you need to stretch. Stay tuned to hear Dr. Chris talk about why we don’t actually care about pain, the role stress plays on our bodies, and how he can help with depression. Bio Peter Ciancarelli is a pet health and longevity coach from Medfield, Massachusetts. He's founder of the popular Facebook group, Allie's Canine Cancer Crew, a consultant for California-based whole molecule CBD and THC cannabis oil collective “King Harvest", and is also a special education teacher, working with children and young adults with Autism for almost a decade. It was his experiences and setbacks with his dog, Allie, that ignited a years-long search for answers, options, and alternatives, outside of the conventional information he trusted and led to Allie's health struggles and deterioration. He's since helped her rebound on a remarkable level, and is on a mission to educate and inspire others on what they can do to help their beloved pets live their best life possible. In this episode, Erin talks to Peter Ciancarelli about how we can best take care of our pets. Research tells us that dogs can live to be in their 20s & 30s. Peter refused to lose the love of his life because he didn’t properly research how to best care for his pet. We should not be feeding our dogs “dog food” because it is heavily processed. Why are dogs dying so young? There are two main factors – they inherited genes from wolves and the food we feed them. We are not giving dogs what they need as animals. Another way we can ensure longevity is by exercising them. Take a leap of faith and try something new – do your own homework to understand what will be best for your furry friend fully. Then, Peter talks about how the environment can be damaging the health of our pets. Pesticides and chemical buildup can easily damage our health as well as our dogs. The bottles can say “safe for animals,” but we need to think on our own. Data is not always accurate because we have to think about where the information is coming from. Once Allie overcame her health issues, Peter found King Harvest. He researched CBD for an entire year because he got oil for himself and his dog. He uses it for the prevention of inflammation, which is the root cause of severe health concerns. King Harvest stands out to Peter because they have been by his side throughout the entire process. In this episode of My Empower Project, we learn that everything goes back to mindset and why restriction diets do not work. We should look at all the things we CAN eat instead of all the things we cannot eat. In order to do this we need to know our baseline. Erin inspires others to do this by writing down everything she eats. She explains in order to know where you stand, you must compare how you feel now to when your diet does change. Later we discover what vital thing to do when cutting carbs and we learn how journaling can help us notice things. Please comment if you want to hear Erin’s thoughts about her 7-month ketogenic diet! Give a thumbs up on the episode below if you are going to journal your food intake for a few days! Stay tuned for future episodes to learn what Erin learned from a really successful millionaire. “My whole mission and platform is to energize women to spend more time strength training.” In this episode, Erin opens up the show talking to Holly Perkins about celebrity fitness and tracking macros. Holly reveals how she is really into following macros because otherwise she would not know what her clients are consuming. She touches on how bringing mindfulness to your diet will result in your desired income; and how you cannot reach goals without knowing what the problems are, otherwise you are just throwing darts without having a target. Then Holly reveals that eating according to your macros is not constituted as a diet. Erin seeks Holly’s opinion on Keto, and Holly states that many people think they are eating ketogenic yet are not consuming the amount of fat needed to achieve it. Later, Holly gives Erin advice on achieving her fitness goals, we learn what carb cycling means, and Holly reveals what goes on during her retreats. The Next Level is a four-month course and includes a weekend-long retreat to hang out and spend quality time with Holly. Then, the two talk training plans, why technique trumps everything, and social media. Holly says that comparison is a killer on social media. Also, Holly discusses how she gives a personalized approach to her clients. Holly tries hard to legitimately know everybody in her community to understand their challenges and engage on a personal level. Lastly, Erin and Holly talk supplements, intrinsic motivation, and personal development. Today, Erin reminds you that any label that you put on yourself doesn't need to be forever. It’s possible to have a goal or commitment without labeling it. She touches on how saying you’ll ‘try’ is reinforcing your own limiting beliefs! Erin shares that labels usually define actions, and not you. It can be detrimental to put emphasis on a label since it is only one part of you, and one thing doesn’t define you. Listen in as a reminder that we strive for progress, not perfection. Today’s takeaway is don’t try, just do, and limit your labels, not your abilities. Today on My Empower Project we are discussing gut health and mindset. I am interviewing Caryn Nicole and hope you will tune in! Caryn Nicole is an IFBB Pro (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness) and was one of my coaches for my fitness competition training. Caryn Nicole has been hugely successful with her app, Best Me!, as well as Her Fit Camp and her YouTube channel. As a fitness coach and digestive specialist, Caryn Nicole educates women on the importance of maintaining a healthy digestive balance. Most of us aren’t even aware of gut health and the importance of healthy digestion, so let’s get into it! Caryn Nicole says that 80-90% of our serotonin receptors are found in our bellies. When we are bloated, fatigued, or not able to lose weight, then gut health is likely out of balance. Isn’t it fascinating that your digestive system can be affecting your mood, your thyroid, and chronic inflammation? What are some indicators of your gut being out of balance? Listen in at 2:58 to hear Caryn Nicole describe warning signs of an unhealthy gut. Caryn Nicole is also a huge proponent of mindset. As a fitness coach, she doesn’t think you can reach your fitness goals without the correct mindset. With her background in psychology, she understands the connection between wellness of the mind and the body. Pay attention at 8:30 mins. to hear Caryn Nicole go into that further, as well as her holistic approach to a happy and healthy mindset. 10:00 mins. into today’s episode I asked Caryn Nicole about her thoughts on bodybuilding and bikini competitions. As you probably know, that stage holds a special place in my heart and I was so fortunate to have Caryn Nicole as my coach when I won 1st, 3rd, & 4th, as well as qualified for Nationals. My favorite takeaway from this interview happens between 11:50 and 14:15 when Caryn Nicole talks about her transition from her career in psychology into becoming a fitness coach and switching paths to be truer to herself. Hearing her experiences into entrepreneurship is really inspiring and I encourage you to listen to her story and advice if that is something you are possibly interested in. Overcoming fears, persevering and getting past imposter syndrome are all self-limiting beliefs that we fall victim to, according to Caryn Nicole. If she can move past them, then I know we can to. Erin reveals that we don’t eat food, we eat what’s IN food. She tells us what she used to think was a healthy way of eating and how she never used to consider what she ate for breakfast when making dinner. Erin has fallen off track too, but noticed the small changes she had made stayed in place, keeping her on track. Her biggest realization today is that the smallest changes are the beginning of a domino effect in either the right or wrong direction. Believing in yourself holds so much power. Erin encourages you to hold yourself in high regard, because you are an expert at your own experiences. Holding yourself back is unfair since you are your own worst critic, and the hard truth is that no one is thinking of your successes or failures as much as you think, and how fear holds us back. Erin feels our stress levels, health, soul, and personal growth should be at the core of our daily focus. Her final takeaway is that believing in yourself is the only way change will ever occur. Choose your thoughts and choose to believe in your value and your worth and your abilities.
