2025 Detroit Lions Hall of Shame Game: Preseason Takeaways and Concern Rising The Detroit Lions opened the 2025 NFL Hall of Fame Game with a disappointing 34–7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, raising early alarms as preseason action begins. In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, we dive into key angles—including how Hendon Hooker and rosters fared, what the result means for the Detroit Lions preseason, and how the Detroit Lions depth chart is shaping up as Training Camp 2025 approaches. Detroit's preseason opener in Canton exposed major issues. The Lions committed five turnovers—two on special teams and three through interceptions and fumbles—immediately setting the tone for a sloppy showing. Coach Dan Campbell made his feelings clear postgame: “Turn the ball over and it'll be hard to keep you around.” Kyle Allen started at quarterback and struggled with two interceptions, although he did lead the Lions' only scoring drive. Hendon Hooker came in during the second half, finishing 3-for-6 for just 18 yards and also throwing an interception, further highlighting depth concerns at the QB position. Hooker's performance drew criticism around timing, pocket awareness, and an alarming head hit late during a run. Local analysts are questioning whether he can adapt to NFL game speed, especially after previous injury issues that ended his college season with a torn ACL. Coming off limited snaps in 2024, Hooker needs a bounce-back—fast. This exhibition game setback complicates the ongoing battle for the backup job, with Jared Goff firmly holding the starting role. Despite the loss, some Detroit Lions players to watch emerged as positives. Rookie Isaac TeSlaa made an impact with 2.88 yards per route run and strong blocking, while Ahmed Hassanein demonstrated discipline and situational awareness that align with the new staff's defensive approach. Rock Ya‑Sin also delivered clutch run stops early. Still, the film review of the trenches exposed protection woes and lack of cohesion upfront. Colby Sorsdal's performance after shifting back to guard stood out, but overall line play remains an urgent area for improvement. With Training Camp 2025 imminent, the Lions must regroup. The Detroit Lions depth chart is in flux—especially at quarterback and along the offensive front. New coaches will need to quickly instill discipline and reduce play errors before the regular season. This Hall of Fame Game defeat shouldn't sink morale, but it should motivate corrections. Listen to our full breakdown as we nail down what went wrong, who needs to step up, and which Detroit Lions players are on the bubble entering camp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifmgoirJl-c Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! What's it like to be the voice that gets you up that brutal hill during a runDisney race? In this milestone episode, we pull back the curtain with Disney entertainer Jodi Chase, who reveals the method behind the "annoying" character she portrays alongside her race course partner Angie. "We're trying to be as annoying as possible so that you will not want to stop," Jody laughs, explaining how this strategy actually helps distract exhausted runners from their pain.Beyond her hill-side encouragement, Jodi takes us through her fascinating 30-year Disney career spanning iconic experiences from Citizens of Hollywood to World Showcase storytelling. She shares how she met her husband (fellow runDisney announcer John Pelkey) at Universal's Horror Makeup Show, and details her unexpected journey into race announcing. The conversation reveals the remarkable stamina required to keep high energy for hours while motivating thousands of runners in all weather conditions. "When it's sideways rain, we've got to go in, no ifs, ands, or buts about it," she explains about typical protocol, "but we felt so bad... we were just yelling at people as they're running by, making hopefully people laugh in those little moments where they were just like 'this is the worst thing ever.'"We also explore Jodi's passionate work founding A Better Life Pet Rescue, a foster-based organization she ran for two decades, saving countless animals from euthanasia. Meanwhile, the hosts share their Springtime Surprise registration experiences, summer training challenges in record heat, and welcome Jake and his 8-year-old son Teddy for a heartwarming Race Report Spotlight about their Fenway Park 5K benefiting veterans.Whether you're curious about the people behind those encouraging voices on course, looking for motivation to push through summer training, or simply want to feel connected to the broader running community, this episode bridges the magic of Disney entertainment with the heart of the running experience. In this episode of the Garden Basics podcast, I speak with succulent expert Debra Lee Baldwin about the world of edible succulents. We delve into what defines succulents, their survival in arid conditions, and their nutritional benefits. Baldwin highlights notable varieties such as Agave tequilana (Blue Agave) and Opuntia, discussing their culinary uses and growth requirements. She shares tips on preparing these plants for consumption and reveals the value of lesser-known edibles like purslane. Baldwin also emphasizes succulents' role in food security. Also, we get a quick tip from Debbie Flower on where to place snail bait in a raised bed (not near the plants!) EPISODE DESCRIPTION:Need a way to better navigate even the most challenging conversations? Over time, I've learned that making a request of someone can go south quickly when you don't know how to set it up properly. In this "from-the-vault" episode from my 2021 archives (perfect for our summer slowdown while I recharge between recording sessions), I share one of my absolute favorite communication frameworks that you can learn in 30 minutes and start using within hours. The SURF technique—known in traditional CRAFT terminology as "positive communication" provides a practical conversation framework for those moments when you need to make a request of your child, especially during tense or emotionally charged situations. Whether you're asking them to apply for jobs, respect curfew, follow through on treatment commitments, or just empty the dishwasher, this approach helps you move from power struggles to problem-solving...together.If you're the type of parent who can solve any problem or crisis but feels completely powerless when your child yells back at you or slams the door on you mid-sentence, this episode is for you. I'll break down each element of the SURF framework with real examples, plus I give you five concrete tips for implementation that acknowledge the messy reality of family life. This podcast is part of a nonprofit called Hopestream CommunityLearn about The Stream, our private online community for momsFind us on Instagram hereFind us on YouTube hereDownload a free e-book, Worried Sick: A Compassionate Guide For Parents When Your Teen or Young Adult Child Misuses Drugs and AlcoholHopestream Community is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and an Amazon Associate. For our landmark 200th episode, we're joined by a running legend who needs no introduction—Jeff Galloway, Olympian, author, coach, and the revolutionary mind behind the Run-Walk-Run method. Jeff takes us back to his humble beginnings as an overweight eighth-grader who could barely run half a mile before "hitting the wall." From those inauspicious starts, we follow his journey through collegiate running alongside peers like Bill Rodgers and Amby Burfoot, through military service, and ultimately to the 1972 Olympic Games. What's most revealing isn't just Jeff's athletic accomplishments, but the character behind them—like selflessly pacing his teammate to Olympic qualification while stepping back at the finish line himself. The heart of our conversation explores how Jeff developed his famous Run-Walk-Run method in the early 1970s. What started as a practical solution for beginning runners blossomed into an approach that has helped countless people cross finish lines they never imagined possible. Jeff shares fascinating insights, including that the very first Olympic marathoners all "walked significant portions of the race," and how his method has evolved through data from over 500,000 runners. We also discuss Jeff's special relationship with runDisney from its inception, his remarkable recovery from a heart attack, and his goal to run the Honolulu Marathon at age 80—potentially becoming the first person ever to run marathons across eight decades of life.Throughout the episode, we take time to reflect on our own 200-episode journey, sharing memories, listener messages, and thoughts on how this podcast has grown from a simple idea into a global community. The Rise and Run family now spans 127 countries, with over 5,200 members sharing friendship, support, and a mutual love of running.Join us for this special celebration of resilience, community, and the simple joy of putting one foot in front of the other—whether you're running, walking, or using Jeff's proven combination of both.Send us a textSupport the showRise and Run Podcast is supported by our audience. Why is our society so fractured and angry? David Brooks' recent article draws from the work of moral philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre to explain how we got here, but what is the solution? With the growth of A.I., some Christians think technology may be how God redeems humanity and gives us eternal life. But is this still Christianity or a strange new Silicon Valley heresy? From early injury updates—including concerns surrounding Levi Onwuzurike—to how the Detroit Lions depth chart is taking shape, we've got it all covered. We also highlight the impact of the new coaches and break down which Detroit Lions players to watch as we move deeper into camp. Unfortunately, no NFL training camp is without its bumps and bruises. We discuss what we know so far, how this could impact the defensive rotation, and what it means for his future with the team. In addition to Onwuzurike, we take a broader look at other Detroit Lions injuries as camp opens and how they're affecting roster battles, especially at key depth positions. This is the first training camp with several new coaches on staff, and their presence is already being felt. We discuss how the new offensive and defensive coordinators are adjusting, and which position groups are responding most to the new leadership.
