This week, in Largo, Maryland, a quiet suburb is shaken, when multiple murders occur, including 2 different pairs of mother/daughters. Both mothers were nurses, and both daughters were teens. An FBI profiler says that none are connected, but the local cops believe it's a serial killer. One crazy break opens up the floodgates of evidence, connecting to a series of home invasions & murders, with some seriously disturbing videos, showing even more depravity!! Along the way, we find out that technically, you can ride a pig, but it doersn't seem like a good idea, that no matter how secure your home is, there is always someone willing to go the extra mile to kill, and that if things seem too weird to be just coincidence, they probably aren't!! We have a new Brain Candy seal of approval, inspired by Sarah, created by Adam, and loved by all. Pay attention to our approvals with our new device. We wonder why the Twinkie never left despite threats that they were discontinuing their production of the food (???). We learn the origin of Pac-Man, why the game was revolutionary, and what makes us love it still. We talk about the strange success of the sporting goods story, Dicks, and how Sarah thought Dick divorced someone and she had a spinoff store called Chicks. We debate AI for therapy, wellness, and friendship, and share what we think people should do instead (and it involves, you know, talking to actual people). We learn about the new Shiny Happy People season, but it turns out, Susie's up to speed, since she was a participant in evangelical churches in the 90s.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDYSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Brad Zerbo presents his 2020 documentary on Edward Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud and the architect of modern propaganda. The episode traces Bernays' influence on everything from breakfast culture to political manipulation, showing how his tactics, like using trusted professionals to sell ideas, still shape society today. Viewers learn how Bernays applied group psychology, staged public spectacles, and even advised U.S. presidents to sway public opinion, including his role on Woodrow Wilson's Committee on Public Information during WWI. Brad connects these historical strategies to present-day media manipulation, political division, and social engineering, arguing that understanding Bernays' blueprint is key to dismantling the propaganda machine controlling public perception.

For decades, conservationists in Tajikistan assumed that the striped hyena – a shy, less vocal cousin of the spotted hyena – was extinct there. But in 2017 a motion-sensitive camera trap in the country's south-western corner, near the borders with Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, detected the presence of a female with cubs. The discovery stunned local observers, and ever since, one man and his colleagues have struggled to find out more about the few remaining Tajik striped hyenas with a view to saving them from oblivion. The challenges are immense, including the international animal parts trade, competition between animals and humans for habitat, and often-negative public perceptions of the hyena itself. Eight years on, Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent travels to the grassy lowlands of Tajikistan to join the small team in their fight to save these elusive, persecuted mammals, and in doing so learns how vital hyenas are to both the ecosystem and human health. This episode of The Documentary comes to you from Assignment, investigations and journeys into the heart of global events.

We're fresh off the heals of our Colorado Rocky Mountain high, and we are still recovering. Susie talks about a man who read 3,599 books in his lifetime and kept an adorable handwritten list of them that is now available to all of us. A zoo wants you to know that if you have any "unwanted" pets that they'll take them off your hands and feed them to their predators, which is weird? A doctor might've killed a patient through music, and we think it's sad, but also the game he was playing sounds really fun. We hear why lots of people are getting their teeth fixed in Mexico, and Susie rants about insane reasons why our teeth aren't included on our healthcare plans, the reason dental insurance is the opposite of health insurance, and she wants to know why we have silent cars, but not silent dental drills.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Get 25% off your first month of Ritual when you visit https://ritual.com/braincandy & add Essential Protein today!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Ronda L. Hampton, Ph.D.:Mitrice Richardson Documentary "Lost Compassion"In the early morning of Sept. 17, Mitrice was reportedly seen on the front lawn of a nearby residence. That would be the last time she was seen alive.Eleven months later, Richardson's remains were found in Malibu Canyon, yards from her clothing. An autopsy and investigation has not proven how she died or whether there was any foul play involved, though her family insists she would not have willingly gone into the canyon alone.More questions and allegations still swirl around the investigation, including when and how the remains were moved and whether or not there is a videotape of Richardson's time in jail.In addition, filmmakers Croft and Hampton contend that sheriff's deputies today are not participating and taking possible leads seriously.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

This week, in Aberdeen, NSW, Australia, one of the craziest crimes, in Aussie history! Police are called to check on a man, who said he feared being murdered. They find his skin, hanging from a meat hook, with none of his body inside. And that's just the start, as the body has been cut up, with pieces cooked, and put on plates, complete with name cards on the table. It's an insane scene, with an even crazier back story!! Along the way, we find out that an interstate tug-o-war is the obvious way to settle regional differences, that when someone tells you they're going to kill you, you should listen, and that some people are capable of peeling off a human's skin, like an orange!! This week, in Garfield, New Jersey, the disappearence of a beloved young woman leads detectives down a dark path, as they investigate a man with a troubled & disturbing history, and family. He denies it, but police don't quite belive him, especially when he tells a detective "no body, no crime". But they do find a body, and the murder was brutal, not to mention the disposal. When the accused decides to act as his own attorney, things really get crazy!! Along the way, we find out that some towns just don't have a lot of fun happening, that after you kill someone, you shouldn't tell everyone you know, and that representing yourself in court is NEVER a good idea!!
