Travel Gluten Free Podcast Season 09 Episode 08 Top Tips for Traveling Gluten Free What do you need to know when you're a gluten free traveler? While there are many details you need to plan for your trip, here are a few new ones that I haven't talked about on previous episodes of the Travel Gluten-free Podcast. Today, I'll give you great gluten free travel advice to travel safely, no matter where your gluten free adventure ends up taking you in the world! Traveling with Your Medicine Bag When flying gluten-free, you want to know about this not-well-known piece of information. If you have a disability, and any auto-immune disease is considered a disability, you have the right to carry one extra bag for medical supplies. In addition to the two bags you can carry on, you get one extra. Here's the link to the TSA article, which explains in detail what you can bring and what they allow on the airplane when you travel with a medical bag. Don't have a medical bag? Get the PracMedic Travel Medicine Bag. I just picked one up from Amazon, and I'm very excited to travel with this handy medical bag. I've been able to stuff lots of supplements and all my prescriptions, along with my spray hand sanitizer, into this convenient bag that has a shoulder strap for easy carrying through the airport. And if you need a clear, quart-sized travel case for your toiletries because the TSA agent took yours the last time you went through security (like the rude agent who I encountered at the St. Louis airport), then grab this amazing deal from CBGE! Three TSA-approved quart-sized toiletry bags for men or women for under $11. Call to Verify Your Fridge, Microwave, and Freezer at Your Hotel or Air Never assume that your hotel room is going to come standard with a microwave, fridge, and freezer! I've been to hotels that were very nice and had none of these accommodations. Always call ahead - ideally before you book your stay - to find out if they have these much-needed vacation items or if they can provide them to you upon your arrival. Cover Your Cooking Surfaces Don't believe it when you hear that gluten can cook off of surfaces! This is simply not true. You need to assume that all surfaces have gluten on them, because, well, that's the world we live in! To protect yourself, you'll want to purchase reusable toaster sleeves to protect your food. Looking to protect your food from someone else's gluten laden stuff? Grab these compostable sandwich bags that are reusable and biodegradable. Podcast Resources Journey safely with The Guide to Traveling Gluten Free which walks you through planning your next gluten-free travel adventure! Most of us were warned about drugs in elementary school through the D.A.R.E program (Drug Abuse Resistance Programs), which in a nustshell told us don't take drugs or you'll die. But somehow we were still curious and it's estimated that 47% of young people use an illegal drug by the time they graduate high school and among Americans 31.9 million are current illegal drug users. So why do we do drugs when we know about the harmful effects they have — addiction, criminal offenses, diseases, and even death? What is wrong with us? On this episode I am joined by Blunt Talk Girls who are outspoken, blunt, have no filter, and have something to say about all of the things that society tells us to be quiet about. They are bridging the gap between cool and important. Let's talk drugs! Disclaimer: This episode has no intention to promote drug use and is merely recounts of personal experiences with drugs that are not encouraged. Please avoid all drug use if you can and if you are struggling with drugs here is a resource that can possibly help you. I've been very open about my therapy journey because I grew up in an environment where therapy was for "pussies" or crazy people.Well call me crazy as hell because therapy definitely opened up so much space for healing in me and I've said it once and I'll say it again … okay let me stop lying, I've said it HELLA TIMES and I'll say it again … GO DEAL WITH YOUR SHIT!But first, how do you know if you even really need therapy? On this week's episode we're talking therapy .. AGAIN. But hear me out! This time I brought my good sis, Chyna Teaira, a certified therapist with years of experience in not only therapy, but spiritual healing, poetry, music, spiritual coaching, acting, sound healing, and yoga, to read us about our lack of knowledge about therapy, therapist, and healing. And also how addressing our own shit can help us flourish and live out our dreams! She is the owner of Preserving Peace a holistic wellness service centered around cultivating safe and loving spaces for Kem-Unity, basically a force to be reckoned with and I had to get her on the podcast to walk us through the mind of a therapist!I am so excited for this new season of @sw4friday podcast! Yes, it's too hard, yes it's impossible, yes you are a failure, yes it will take forever .. If that is what you believe then yes, all of those things are true. Most people set themselves up for failure before they even start the task because they've already convinced themselves that they won't succeed at it or it's out of their reach. Let's talk limiting beliefs and how I managed to overcome my own in order to live my dreams of full time travel. Have more questions about full time travel and my life abroad? In our first Travel Like Us Episode 21, we chatted about how we got started traveling, solo trips, where to stay, do's and don'ts, and more. After that episode went live, we had listeners ask some follow-up questions and that they wanted us to share some funny travel stories! You guys know we love traveling and could talk about it all day every day, so we were stoked to record another episode about one of our greatest passions. In Part 2, we talk about how to find good travel buddies and share some incidents where we personally took trips with people that killed the vibe so we want to help you avoid that. The last thing you want is to be in Paris (after saving and dreaming about the trip for years) with someone who is a nightmare in new environments. We share our advice about traveling when your partner has a totally different travel style than you do. Then end with all the ins and outs of packing - how to, how not to, best suitcases, lists, and more. There are hilarious ~ travel gone wrong ~ moments that we included in this episode and let's just say the flashbacks were scary lol. *Takes dramatic deep breath* A LOT has been happening! 4 countries in only 2 short months! Some call it traveling, I might just call it a small case of insanity! The bluest beaches ever, dancing to Swahili music until the morning, visiting the last slave market, almost being trampled at a Makunduchi Festival, impromptu dance lessons from the Maasai tribe, lunch dates in the middle of the ocean ... on a rock, and sun poisoning in Tanzania. Spending over 100 hours in a Jeep driving from one country through to the next on an 8 day solo safari from Tanzania to Kenya, up close experiences with hyenas, lions, and probably any other animal you can remember from "The Lion King", living with a Maasai family, brushing my teeth with an all natural toothpaste and a toothbrush sourced from the savannah, and breaking my vegetarian diet to try Kenyan kebab. Which bring me to Turkey where I think I experienced a food orgasm, partied until 4 am with strangers, booked the wrong flight and had to take a 5 hour bus to my destination, did a photoshoot with wild horses in Cappadocia, who the fuck am I? And I am finally reunited with my baby in Ukraine! *Takes dramatic deep breath again* So, let's start where we left off, leaving Indonesia for Tanzania. Mambo or what's up in Swahili! Let's go to Tanzania y'all!

1. Hawaii - Maui, Big Island If you're American, there's no passport required for this romantic hub, but you might feel as if you went to another country when you catch a glimpse of the truly remarkable beauty of Hawaii. While there are dozens of islands to navigate—from Oahu to Kauai—if you want to wear those head-over-heels rose-colored glasses, set your sights on Maui. In addition to some dreamy luxury resorts, the varied landscape of this Hawaiian island sets it apart from its neighbors.Couples can drive along the picturesque Hana Highway and explore the Haleakala National Park, including the volcano it's named after. And since most amorous vacations require a beach day, there are 30 miles of sand to set up shop on. Make sure you save time to fall asleep under the dazzling stars and constellations that bring light to the midnight sky, too.2. PARIS FRANCE - Appreciated for its elegance and joie de vivre, Paris is a grand European capital filled with architectural masterpieces like the Eiffel Tower and the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Reflecting the city's rich heritage, the Louvre (one of the top museums in Paris) contains an exceptional fine arts collection, while the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie display treasures of French Impressionist art. Other charms of Paris are its atmospheric medieval quarters and graceful boulevards. Quintessential tourist experiences include shopping at bookshops in the Latin Quarter, strolling the Champs-Elysées, and people-watching from a sidewalk café terrace on the Boulevard Saint-Germain-de-Prés.To see one of the country's most impressive palaces, tourists can take a 30-minute train ride from Paris to Versailles. The UNESCO-listed Château de Versailles is among the best day trips from Paris. Built for Louis XIV (the "Sun King"), this opulent 17th-century palace is a testament to the glory and absolute power that was once the realm of France's kings. The château's splendid Baroque facade, dazzling Hall of Mirrors, and fountain-adorned formal gardens allow visitors to imagine a scene of France's bygone royal court.3. SOUTH SEAS CAPTIVA ISLAND (so relaxing, hotel style and also like suite styles) - it’s my favorite resort on an island 4. Riveria Maya MEXICO (EVERYONE IS GOING THERE) - it’s on the caribbean coastline, i’ve been talking about everyone going 5. SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - it’s in your home state, Savannah, a coastal Georgia city, is separated from South Carolina by the Savannah River. It’s known for manicured parks, horse-drawn carriages and antebellum architecture. 6. Isabella PUERTO RICO - it’s where mom and mark got married, beautiful beaches 7. TUSCANY / Venice ITALY - There's a saying that you either love or hate Venice when you visit this northern Italy city. But our guess is if you go when you're feeling butterflies, The City of Water will have them swarming. Even for the well-versed traveler, Venice presents an entirely new experience, since it is the capital of the Veneto region, comprised of 100 tiny islands. Here, there are very few roads, but many canals, making a gondola ride with your main squeeze a must.As you stroll hand-in-hand, soaking up the undeniably hospitable Italian culture, you'll witness nods to the Renaissance era, as well as Gothic landmarks. Nibble your way through St. Mark's Square, where local vendors display their handmade goods. For an Instagram-worthy photo op, scale to the top of the Campanile Bell Tower, offering quite the view. If you're traveling for a milestone, take a boat to the glass-blowing region of Murano Venice and take home a keepsake.8. Santarini, Greece - As one of the most popular honeymoon destinations on the planet, and one of the most beautiful Greek Islands, Santorini might require a long plane ride and a puddle jumper flight, but trust us, it is worth the journey. The reason many newlyweds choose Santorini is due to its position on the Aegean Sea, offering nightly captivating pink, orange, and golden sunsets in the Oia town. Many of the boutiques, restaurants, and resorts are built into the jagged cliff sides, giving couples the chance to book a unique private escape for their trip.In addition to walking through narrow—and often steep—streets to catch a glimpse of the iconic white skyline, it's also recommended to rent a car for your trip. Though you can hire a taxi service, many duos prefer the independence of scaling the island on their own, giving them the ability to stop for a photo—or a romp—when the mood strikes.9. ASPEN COLORADO - Most renowned for skiing, this Rocky Mountain destination is one of the top ski resorts in Colorado and brings together all of the makings of a romantic vacation. From snow-covered mountaintops to the crackle of a fireplace, booking a long weekend of skiing and snuggling is an ideal way to recharge your relationship. Most couples will choose to stay in a luxury resort and take an afternoon away from the slopes to tour through the area's downtown, complete with boutiques, restaurants, and an 1889 Opera House. No matter if you're an experienced skier or you're just in it for the outdoor hot tub experience, Aspen offers a winter-inspired getaway for couples who don't mind the cold.10. Costa Rica - monkeys will jump on you, is known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. 11. Cape Cod - Cape Cod, a hook-shaped peninsula of the U.S. state of Massachusetts, is a popular summertime destination. It's the site of quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, ponds and bay and ocean beaches. In the large town of Hyannis, the John F. Kennedy Museum is the first stop on the Kennedy Legacy Trail through downtown, where ferries depart to the resort islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.12. Napa Valley - Napa County is north of San Francisco, in California. It's known for hundreds of hillside vineyards in the Napa Valley wine region. In the city of Napa, Oxbow Public Market features regional gourmet food. The Napa Valley Wine Train is a vintage locomotive and traveling restaurant running through the valley. Northwest of Napa is Yountville, a town known for high-end restaurants and sparkling wine 13. The Maldives - While images of this one-of-a-kind tropical nation might not come up if you Google "romance," it is definitely what comes to mind when you dream of the picture-perfect honeymoon spot. This destination in the Indian Ocean has a unique landscape, with 26 circular micro islands woven together. Most couples will splurge on the infamous overwater bungalows with an expansive balcony and transparent floors that allow the sea to illuminate your room. In addition to some of the most impressive—and beautiful—beaches in the world, snorkeling duos will enjoy exploring reefs and sea life of every shape and size. For couples who enjoy experiencing local culture as part of their adventure, consider spending a day in the capital of Male, where you can watch a local fish market at work and shop for artisan goods on the main street of Majeedhee Magu.14. Krabi Thialand - Thanks to an unbelievable shade of blue water, the low cost of aromatic and flavorful food, and dreamy beaches, many jet-setters make a point to visit the beach resorts of Thailand. There are dozens to choose from, with Phuket being one of the most popular, Koh Samui attracting a 20-something crowd, and Krabi being among the most romantic. Here, you will be able to disconnect in a quiet, yet gorgeous, landscape.Located in the southern area of the west coast of the country, you'll find mangroves, limestone formations, boulders, and many other works of wonder from Mother Nature herself. You can book a long-tail boat to take you to Railay Beach or go on a snorkeling tour to see colorful creatures of the sea. For a bit of a splurge, you can stay at five-star resorts, most of which come complete with beach access and a private pool for lounging.15. New Zealand

Ciao a tutti! This week on June 8th marked the 2 year anniversary of Anthony Bourdain's passing. Bourdain is my muse, and is a huge source of inspiration for me. What he did for humanity in his highlighting of beauty and diversity in every corner of the world brought the parts unknown into homes and inspired wanderlust for many. In the times that the world finds itself in today with the Black Lives Matter movement and discussions of racial injustice, I want to highlight some of the best messages that Anthony Bourdain left behind that can teach us how to accept one another and stay energized in the fight for true equality and justice for all.

Learn how to overcome obstacles, tackle challenges and succeed! You might wonder why we invited German comedian, travel writer, television producer and soft skill trainer Michael Wigge to speak to our listeners about setting a record for the longest donkey ride in music television history, dressed as Henry VIII. Or about the time he crossed Germany on a Mibo Mastr scooter, covering 2,500 kilometers (1553 miles) in 80 days. Or how he's travelled the world for free, several times, and written two books about it. This is one guy who knows how to overcome challenges, find creative solutions, and persevere. And we can learn to do it too! One man, 150 days, 11 countries, no money! Michael Wigge had traveled to many countries before, but one day, he decided to make it more challenging: he would travel 25,000 miles around the world by foot, bus, train, ship and plane and not spend a dime of his own money. The journey was full of challenges: What would he eat? Where would he sleep? How would he get from place to place? In spite of all the obstacles, Michael always came up with creative solutions, and after 150 days, reached his destination. (Elite World Records named him the First Person to Travel the World Penniless). Now he wants to share what he learned with us. Helping others become confident, resilient leaders These days, Michael’s real passion is helping others realize that what seems absurd or impossible just requires us to see things through a fresh lens. Through his coaching and workshops, he's doing just that. Maybe you're afraid of rejection. How do you push the fear away and become comfortable with who you are and how others see you? Ask Michael! Or, perhaps your organization needs to change, and in order to do this, your staff needs to let go of some things and add some others. Michael can show them how to do this! Listen in, learn how to see your challenges in a new way, and enjoy the ride. Tom Kuegler is a full-time vlogger, but it wasn't always this way. After graduating college and doing 20 job interviews, he got sick of trying to convince corporate America he was worth anything--so he started freelancing. Nine months after he started freelancing he began contributing to big sites like the Huffington Post and made enough money to go on a 5-month solo road trip across America. He visited 24 new states, lived in San Francisco for 2 months, and then came back home and started blogging about the lessons he learned. A year later he had 10,000 followers on Medium, started selling online courses, and said goodbye to freelancing entirely. A year after that, a video he made for Facebook went viral and received 3,000,000 views in 2 weeks. He's made 7 videos with 1,000,000+ views so far. Tom now has over 200,000 likes on his Facebook page, lives in the Philippines mostly making new vlogs, selling his courses, writing on Medium, and helping others achieve social media success and find their story.
