Follow my Instagram Join my Street Team! Give me money on my Patreon Gatsbys American Dream is a Seattle-based rock band known for blending pop-punk, post-hardcore, progressive rock, and emo into a sound that rarely stays in one lane. Formed in the early 2000s, the band built a devoted following with albums like Ribbons and Sugar, Volcano, and their self-titled 2006 record. Their songs are packed with unusual structures, sharp hooks, literary references, and the kind of unpredictable shifts that made them stand out from the mid-2000s scene. Despite never reaching the mainstream level of many of their contemporaries, Gatsbys became a cult favorite and influenced plenty of bands that followed. After years of sporadic activity, the band reunited and released Modern Man in 2025, their first full-length album in nearly two decades. I got Nic on the Zoom and this is what we chat about: There's a song out there where he's auditioning for Chiodos Playing short sets on purpose Acceptance band progressing their sound on the 2nd record Getting made fun of by Goldfinger fans Kane Hodder Fearless Records Their $40,000 music video Playing with Katy Perry on Warped Tour Flipping their van Pranking on the road And a ton more Check out their shows in Austin and Chicago in Nov and Seattle in Dec.

SWR1 Meilensteine - Alben die Geschichte machten

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 10, 2026 59:32

Für die Band hieß es bei Album Nummer drei also: "Make it or break it". Dabei entstanden auch Songs wie "Livin‘ On A Prayer" und "You Give Love A Bad Name". __________ Über diese Songs vom Album "Slippery When Wet" sprechen wir im Podcast (11:33) – "You Give Love A Bad Name"(27:53 ) – "Livin' On A Prayer"(40:03) – "Social Disease"(44:54 ) – "Wanted Dead Or Alive"(52:30) – "Never Say Goodbye"__________ Shownotes Interview mit Cover-Photograph Mark Weiss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQce0rHjEewRick Beato zu "Livin' On A Prayer": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJgrXqvpXF0Peter Frampton erklärt die Talk Box: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/UdexmEq0he0So funktioniert die Talkbox: https://www.delamar.de/gitarre/gitarren-effektgeraete/talkbox-68983/Musikvideo zu "Livin On A Prayer": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwkMusikvideo zu "You Give Love A Bad Name": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrZHPOeOxQQ&list=RDKrZHPOeOxQQ&start_radio=1Bon Jovis Auftritt bei den VMA's 1989: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAiW4jQ-Vno&list=RDrAiW4jQ-Vno&start_radio=1ARD-Podcast-Tipp: Berlin Sounds Inside - Staffel 3: https://www.ardsounds.de/sendung/berlin-sounds-inside-der-musiktalk-mit-anja-caspary/urn:ard:show:1aad788d434c3934/

Last weekend, Lollapalooza rolled into my front yard in Chicago, and in this Series, I'll be featuring the interviews I did with a handful of amazing artists playing this giant festival. For this Part 1, I was especially psyched to mark the occasion by first sitting down with my friend, the amazing and inspiring Goldie Boutilier, who's making her third appearance on the show.Since Goldie's last interview for Roadcase in December 2024, she has been absolutely crushing it and I couldn't be happier about her accomplishments. She was recently nominated for a Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, made her TV debut on the Kelly Clarkson Show, opened for Katy Perry on the European leg of her World Tour late last year, and also had her song “King of Possibilities” featured as the theme song for the Netflix Series “The Hunting Wives.” These are major accomplishments by any measure, but when you understand Goldie's life story, her continual rise becomes even more impressive.Goldie talks to me about her constant evolution and transformation from a dreamer to a doer, the impact of being a role model for her fans, how owning her trauma and seeing herself in others has made her feel less alone, and we explore how her overcoming doubt and fear to conquer new challenges has made her even stronger. Goldie's inspiring story is one of survival, resilience, grit, determination and self-belief — and I'm proud to have her on the show once again!!  You can click on the link in the bio to find it. It's a very special conversation and I cannot wait for you to give it a listen. =======================================Chapters:00:00 - Episode Intro with Host Josh Rosenberg03:55 - Introducing Goldie's inspiring story04:46 - Redefining manifestation through perseverance and resilience05:38 - How two years transformed Goldie's perception of time and achievement06:37 - The practicality behind fashion and persona as part of her healing journey07:38 - Reflecting on her industry milestones: opening for Katy Perry and TV debut09:17 - The evolution from revenge pop to resilient and healing pop music10:51 - The significance of her past struggles and how they inform her artistry11:46 - Connecting with fans through vulnerability and shared trauma13:18 - Using storytelling to impact others and promote healing14:57 - The importance of authenticity versus appearance—navigating fashion and art15:39 - How her persona layers with her genuine self, creating a multi-dimensional artist17:35 - The power of venues like the Troubadour and meaningful fan interactions19:17 - Sharing her long road of recovery and triumph over past hardships21:46 - The role of community and shared experience in her music's reach23:20 - The impact of landmark achievements like opening for major artists and licensing success24:46 - Overcoming doubt and celebrating her success with awards and recognition26:10 - The importance of expressing gratitude to supporting family and community26:48 - Her upcoming album "The Godmother" and its themes of maternal care and spiritual resilience28:42 - The healing power of dance and upbeat music in her new projects29:50 - Reflecting on her alter ego Goldie Montana as a symbol of bravery and transformation31:59 - The extraordinary impact of her song on "The Hunting Wives"33:10 - Experiences touring with Katy Perry and lessons learned from the interaction36:00 - Navigating the challenge of connecting with fans and managing DMs37:31 - The significance of the Troubadour show and its emotional resonance39:06 - The comfort of community and shared understanding with her audience39:56 - Embracing authenticity and the journey from hardship to rainbow-colored resilience41:06 - Episode Wrap-up with Host Josh Rosenberg=======================================For more information on Goldie and tour dates: https://www.goldieenterprises.com/=======================================For more information on Roadcase:https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comOr contact Roadcase by email:  info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music:  "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

Here we are with another 'Summerween' episode.  this time we are digging into musicians who supposedly made deals with the devil for their skill and fame.  We start with the Mississippi Delta's favorite crossroads legend, Robert Johnson.  We tell both the legendary version of his tale and then we dig down to what is likely the truth behind his life.  Then we jump back to Europe in the 1700's where we meet a slightly strange man named Niccolo Paganini and hear about his deal with the devil.  Then we dispense with the legend and tell the truth of his life, at least as much as we know,  Finally, we tell the legend of Petey Wheatstraw, the Devil's Son-In-Law and then again, contrast that with the real life of Blues musician William Bunch, who used the name to perform and leaned into the legend hard.  We examine the legacy of these tales and even discuss how their represented on the modern internet where, under their videos, you can read comments of people openly accusing people like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift of having sold their souls for fame and fortune in this don't look now but the devil's watchin' episode of the Family Plot Podcast!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.

You can't believe everything you read. You can't believe everything you see online. And if some conspiracy theorists are right, you can't even trust your favourite songs. In Part 3 of Music's Greatest Conspiracies, we take a journey through some of the music world's strangest rabbit holes. Is the standard 440 Hz tuning of modern music actually a tool for mind control? Did JonBenét Ramsey somehow grow up to become Katy Perry? Was the Laurel Canyon scene influenced by intelligence agencies? And did shadowy forces help push rock music out of the spotlight at the end of the 1990s?  Along the way, we'll look at government surveillance of punk rock, theories surrounding Sid Vicious, rumours about Lady Gaga, the mystery of Andrew W.K., and whether today's viral "industry plants" are really just clever marketing in the age of social media.  Some of these stories contain a grain of truth. Others are completely wild. But all of them reveal something about our fascination with fame, power, hidden agendas, and the search for answers behind the music we love. Just don't blame us if you start looking at your playlist a little differently afterward. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

If you've ever wondered what happens when St. Louis collectively loses its mind over bread, a pet kangaroo becomes public enemy number one, and everyone starts planning for an NBA team that doesn't technically exist yet... congratulations, you've found today's episode. On today's daily comedy show, the gang dives headfirst into the internet meltdown surrounding Panera moving its headquarters to Boston. Is this another Rams-level betrayal, or are people simply way too emotionally invested in soup and sandwiches? The debate gets surprisingly passionate, with theories, conspiracy-level outrage, and enough Bread Co. nostalgia to butter an entire bakery. Then things somehow get even stranger. There's a real pet kangaroo named Rufus hopping around Missouri after escaping from his enclosure, launching one of the funniest conversations we've ever had about exotic pets, Australian wildlife, boxing kangaroos, and why absolutely nobody expects to look out their kitchen window and see a four-foot marsupial staring back at them.As if that wasn't enough, the crew gets excited about rumors that St. Louis could someday land an NBA franchise, debates whether the Portland Trail Blazers could become the St. Louis Trail Blazers, imagines new arenas, and immediately starts spending money that doesn't exist.Of course, because this is The Rizzuto Show, we also somehow end up talking about armadillos, leprosy, Anthony Bourdain conspiracy theories, earthquake anxiety, weird Missouri wildlife, celebrity gossip, local news, and enough random detours to make your GPS quit.Expect sarcastic takes, ridiculous hypotheticals, hilarious fails, pop culture commentary, local St. Louis chaos, and the kind of conversations that only happen when six people completely refuse to stay on topic.Whether you're here for funny news, celebrity nonsense, Missouri weirdness, or just need something to laugh at during your commute, this episode delivers exactly the kind of beautiful train wreck you've come to expect. Thanks for making us part of your day. Keep sharing the show, keep telling your friends, and remember: if you see a kangaroo in Missouri...maybe it's actually a kangaroo. One innocent bakery van. One suspicious slogan. One studio full of adults who absolutely refused to let it go.What should have been a simple conversation about Nothing Bundt Cakes rapidly devolves into one of those classic Rizz Show debates where nobody can agree if a marketing slogan is clever, completely innocent, or unintentionally one of the funniest things ever printed on a delivery van. From there...because this is The Rizzuto Show...the conversation somehow shifts into Halloween party planning, costumes nobody should wear, Ballpark Village's Freak Show bash, and why Halloween somehow starts before August even arrives. The crew also dives into major local news as Hollywood River Studios announces plans that could transform the Metro East into a legitimate production hub. Massive sound stages, esports arenas, film tax credits, and the possibility of movies being made just across the river all have the crew imagining what St. Louis could become.Technology also gets roasted when Apple unveils its new hardware leasing program. Is leasing your iPhone actually smart? Is owning anything becoming a thing of the past? The gang debates whether renting phones is the future or just another monthly bill nobody asked for. Then it's time for a packed Crap on Celebrities featuring entertainment headlines involving Jared Leto allegations, Usher's awkward concert moment, Katy Perry's inflatable crowd-surfing fail, new music from Tony Iommi, Peter Gabriel's latest full moon release, Marvel movie rankings, celebrity birthdays, and plenty of sarcastic commentary that somehow makes even serious stories feel like hanging out with your funniest friends.Along the way you'll also hear debates about when kids should start paying their own phone bills, why Terry Crews seems like the nicest guy alive, Bob Hope trivia nobody expected, and enough random tangents to make your morning commute disappear. Some shows ease into the day. We immediately start arguing over Missouri's official state animal, accidentally insult half the Midwest, and somehow end up talking about rabid beavers terrorizing New York. Pretty standard Tuesday around here. The gang discovers that Missouri's official state animal isn't nearly as obvious as anyone thought, learns way more about mule breeding than anyone requested, debates whether a charging beaver should be kicked like "nature's football," and wonders why every state seems to have picked the weirdest possible mascot. Then it's time for one of the greatest disasters in recent memory: Read My Lips. Words like butt crack, flamethrower, cinnamon, armadillo, bidet, mothballs, Sasquatch, cornhole, and fruitcake somehow become Big Rig, Philadelphia, Hope Solo, Powder Keg, and whatever "Quantana Roo" is supposed to be. Nobody can read lips, everyone is somehow overconfident anyway, and the callers suffer right along with us.King Scott proves that facial hair is apparently the ultimate lip-reading defense system. Moon keeps inventing new techniques. Rafe becomes increasingly concerned about everyone's strategy. Lern somehow turns perfectly normal words into complete mysteries. Riz somehow nails "cornhole" while missing words he literally owns.Along the way we also dive into:• Missouri mule history• Rabid beaver attacks• Weird state facts• Listener games• Complete communication breakdowns• More accidental nonsense than should legally fit into one morning showIf you enjoy ridiculous conversations that somehow become educational, questionable wildlife discussions, hilarious games, and friends relentlessly roasting each other, you've found your people.New episodes of our daily comedy podcast drop every weekday with celebrity news, weird stories, listener games, and enough sarcasm to make your coworkers wonder why you're laughing at your desk.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Shots fired into Creve Coeur home, police investigatingCould the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers move to St. Louis?A kangaroo on the looseA 4,000-year-old disease is on the rise in this state thanks to armadillosJapan earthquake: At least 13 dead, death toll expected to riseApple Upgrade: Here's the monthly subscription cost for every productWhat happened to leaving the groom at the altar like an adult? What happens when you put us in a room with a pair of hilarious, talented twin sisters who finish each other's sentences, constantly tease one another, and are chasing their dreams in the music industry? Absolute chaos—and we loved every second of it. Joining us from New York City is the dynamic pop duo Twin City, fraternal twin sisters Anjali and Bhavani Piti, whose infectious personalities, incredible chemistry, and passion for music immediately make this one of our most entertaining interviews yet. Before we even begin, the competition starts with a hilarious game of rock-paper-scissors to determine which twin will receive Pol's famous Armenian Coffee Reading tomorrow. The game may be over in seconds, but the playful sibling rivalry continues throughout the entire conversation, giving us plenty of laughs along the way. We dive into what it was like growing up with Indian and German heritage, being born and raised in New York, and sharing a bond that only twins can truly understand. From discovering they're actually different heights after years of assuming they were exactly the same to talking about their unique personalities, family dynamic, younger brother, and life together in Manhattan, the sisters open up about the experiences that shaped both their lives and their music. Of course, we couldn't wait to talk about their upcoming debut album, Fantasy Love, a dreamy dance-pop project years in the making. They share how they developed their signature cinematic pop sound, why they finally felt ready to release a full-length album, what inspires their songwriting, and how they collaborate as sisters without letting competition get in the way. We also learn the surprising story behind the name Twin City, along with some of the very different names they almost chose before finding the perfect fit. The conversation takes another exciting turn as they reveal what it was really like auditioning for American Idol in front of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. We compare audition stories, swap behind-the-scenes experiences, and share plenty of laughs as Pol tells his unforgettable American Idol story that still makes us laugh years later. From waiting all day for auditions to handling rejection, we talk honestly about perseverance, believing in yourself, and why success in entertainment is often about showing up again and again. As always, the conversation quickly expands beyond music. We chat about living in New York City, balancing creativity with business, social media, TikTok, vintage fashion, sustainable shopping, vegan living, independent artistry, open mic performances, and navigating today's ever-changing entertainment industry. Along the way, Pol shares heartfelt advice about staying authentic, embracing vulnerability, and allowing opportunities to find you instead of trying to force every outcome—a conversation that becomes one of the most meaningful moments of the episode. Some mornings you wake up expecting another normal daily comedy show. Then the building catches everyone's attention with a fire alarm, Rizz refuses to evacuate because apparently radio hosts go down with the ship, and somehow the conversation spirals into MySpace, CDs making a comeback, William Shatner becoming a metal frontman at 95, and why nobody under 25 knows who Hole is anymore.Just another Tuesday. This episode starts with excitement surrounding the upcoming Super Troopers 3 as the Broken Lizard crew prepares to visit the studio, giving everyone an excuse to geek out over one of the greatest comedy franchises ever made. Before they arrive, the crew jumps into Crap on Celebrities, where nostalgia absolutely takes over.Could MySpace actually deserve more respect than it gets? Turns out the platform helped launch artists like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Adele, and even Dane Cook before social media became the attention economy we know today. That naturally leads into everyone's embarrassing MySpace memories, Top 8 drama, party bulletins, and the strange realization that we all willingly learned HTML just to put terrible music on our profiles.Speaking of things nobody expected to return...CDs are suddenly making a comeback. Yes... actual compact discs. The crew debates whether anyone even owns a CD player anymore, whether physical media still matters, and whether younger generations are rediscovering something older fans never completely gave up on. It's part nostalgia, part technology debate, and part excuse for Moon to become the resident audio nerd. Then things somehow become even stranger.William Shatner is officially performing heavy metal songs at Riot Fest... at ninety-five years old.The conversation somehow makes perfect sense.Elsewhere in celebrity news:• The Batman Part II gets delayed again.• A new Rocky movie about Sylvester Stallone fighting to play himself looks surprisingly incredible.• Paris Jackson earns praise for covering Blind Melon's "No Rain."• Alec Baldwin accidentally makes another tribute about... Alec Baldwin.• The Grateful Dead release a massive 20-CD collection because apparently CDs aren't dead after all.• Hole returns to social media, prompting an entire debate over whether younger music fans even know who Courtney Love's band was.Along the way, the crew shares ridiculous observations, roasts each other relentlessly, argues over music, remembers forgotten internet history, and proves once again why no topic stays on the rails for very long. That's exactly why this daily comedy show continues to be the easiest way to stay caught up on celebrity news, weird stories, pop culture, and conversations that somehow go from MySpace coding to William Shatner screaming heavy metal in less than ten minutes. If you enjoy sarcastic humor, entertainment news, nostalgic pop culture rabbit holes, and a group of friends who rarely let facts get in the way of a good joke, this episode has everything you need from your favorite daily comedy show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What starts as a conversation about Missouri float trips quickly spirals into absolute Rizz Show nonsense. The gang debates the best rivers to float, tells stories about cliff jumping, beer helmets, and questionable rafting decisions before taking a hard left into one of the weirdest mornings we've had in a while.Then...the studio fire alarm goes off.In real time, the crew debates whether to abandon the building, compares themselves to the captain of the Costa Concordia, questions maritime law, and somehow turns an emergency evacuation into comedy. Fortunately, everyone survives the "catastrophe" and returns to the studio with nothing more than bruised egos and a fresh appreciation for construction dust.As if that wasn't enough, Learn celebrates National Hot Dog Day with Steve's Hot Dogs, the crew argues about the proper way to eat a hot dog without looking ridiculous, and everyone collectively decides the word "glizzy" deserves to disappear forever.Missouri news keeps the chaos rolling as the crew debates higher interstate speed limits, gets completely lost trying to figure out daylight saving time, celebrates Lion's Choice landing on USA Today's best regional fast food list, and somehow manages to make basic legislation sound impossibly confusing.Meanwhile, Moon discovers an actual beetle inside a bag of coffee, decides to brew it anyway, and accidentally sends everyone into a discussion about FDA limits on insect parts in food that absolutely nobody asked for but everyone somehow needed.Add in bizarre lawsuits, White Castle stories, documentaries, celebrity tangents, weird news, listener emails, and the usual sarcastic back-and-forth, and you've got another completely normal day...by Rizz Show standards. They explain how the movie evolved into a massive wedding comedy inspired by real-life Indian wedding celebrations, why an elephant became part of the insanity, and how Farva once again manages to become everyone's favorite walking HR violation.Along the way, the guys talk about stepping back into those famous uniforms, convincing Brian Cox to return after becoming television royalty on Succession, and what it's feels like watching one of the greatest actors alive casually roast everyone on set. Turns out working with Brian Cox means getting insulted by a professional... and somehow enjoying every second of it.Of course, this wouldn't be The Rizzuto Show without the rails disappearing almost immediately. Rafe spends an uncomfortable amount of time explaining his ongoing campaign to become everyone's stepdad by marrying their mothers. Somehow that transitions into discussions about prison etiquette, monster trucks replacing elephants at weddings, popcorn buckets becoming collector's items, and whether Potfest will ever actually happen. The conversation also covers the incredible crowdfunding success behind Super Troopers 2, the eight-year journey to making the third film, hidden pop culture references fans should watch for, and why you absolutely need to stay after the credits. If you're a longtime Broken Lizard fan, a movie nerd, or just someone who appreciates comedians who somehow built an entire career making hilarious movies with their best friends, this episode delivers nonstop laughs from start to finish. This comedy podcast is proudly made in St. Louis with the same chaotic energy you've come to expect from The Rizzuto Show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Crews to resume search for possible drowning in Meramec River near CastlewoodUS House passes bill to make daylight saving time permanentHouse passes Trump-backed bill that would make daylight saving time permanentMissouri approves new 75 mph maximum speed limitLion's Choice up for best regional fast foodRural NY School District Will Be One of First to Bring Humanoid Robot Into ClassroomHumanoid robots perform live surgery in world firstMirrors in Space?
