Rachel: We need to adapt the way we deliver information, adapt it to the learners of today. Rachel: How do we as adults, children, teenagers take control of our brains and manage ourselves.   Rachel Paling Bio Rachel Paling started teaching English as a Foreign Language to adults over 30 years ago and after obtaining a BA Honours in Law and Spanish (with distinction in spoken Spanish) at the University of Sheffield (UK), she went on to do a master's in human Rights and Democratization (EMA) at the University of Padua, Italy and Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. This concept called Neurolanguage Coaching emerged through her own experience of teaching languages over the past 34 years. This combined with her own experience of learning languages, namely French, Spanish, Italian, German, and some Catalan, with basics of Arabic and Russian and a hunger to learn more, such as Chinese. In 2019, Efficient Language Coaching and Neurolanguage Coaching® won the Re-Imagine Education Bronze award in the Science of Learning category. In March 2020, Rachel completed her Master's in Applied Neuroscience and continues to study Neuroscience to develop and enhance her knowledge. In the same year, Brainz Magazine included me in their top 500 Companies, Entrepreneurs, Influential Leaders, and Business Owners who are recognized for their entrepreneurial success, achievements, or dedication to helping others. The following year, she was delighted to be awarded the Crea Global Award by Brainz Magazine. In addition, her own personal development as a life coach over 11 years and burning interest in what we are now discovering through modern neuroscience about the brain – and how the brain functions, reacts, and learns – have all contributed to the creation of this concept and method. Your nonprofit can use new science as a tool to help others and to understand how the brain functions and learns. Rachel Paling, author of Brain Friendly and Language Learning and Founder of Neuro Heart Education Foundation, dedicated her life to training educators and helping educators to use coaching as a vehicle of communication.  Conversation Highlights {00:52} Introduction of the guest {01:54} Some positives for the current education model {04:15} The importance of teaching the teachers {08:54} Neuroplasticity  {11:51} Reinforcing areas where you have strengths  {21:13} Learning form triggers instead of reacting to them  {24:38} The neural Heart Education Foundation    Remarkable Quotes Rachel: There is a trend towards educators adapting to their learners. Rachel: I grew up thinking that the brain could not change. Travis: We are not our thoughts. We are not our feelings. Using this method, Rachel has trained over 1200 language teachers worldwide, certifying them as Neurolanguage Coaches – certified by taking our training courses which are some of the only language coaching certification courses in the world accredited by International Coach Federation USA. Her session on Friday the 1st May is called "Language Learning Across The Lifespan: Myths, Science, and Science Fiction". It's going to be amazing so don't miss it!Research shows that knowing more than one language, regardless of their status, prestige, and worldwide diffusion, can give both children and adults a range of linguistic, cognitive and social benefits. More obviously, it enables communication among people and understanding of different cultures. Less obviously, it enhances focusing, seeing both sides of an argument, flexibly adapting to changing circumstances, and making rational decisions. This means that language learning is an investment for life, and the lack of multilingual skills directly affects the competitiveness of countries that rely on ‘privileged monolingualism’ in English, like the UK, with huge costs for the economy as a whole. However, there are many widespread misconceptions, both old and new, about what it means to learn a newlanguage from a cognitive perspective. I will show that separating myths, science, and science fiction has important implications for language learning and teaching in society. She is a world leading authority in the field of bilingual language development across the lifespan, where she brings together methods from linguistics, experimental psychology, and cognitive science. She is also committed to disseminating the findings of research on bilingualism in different sectors of society. She is the founding director of the research and information centre Bilingualism Matters, which currently has 26 branches in the UK, Europe, the US, the Middle East, and China.Connect with Antonella on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/antonella-sorace-2214625/

Today my podcast is really about reflecting on all the wonderful contributions from the previous guests on what Language Coaching is for them and taking stock of all the different perspectives relating to language coaching in the world. And at this point, I would like to bring in some further exploration and explanation to clarify “what is Neurolanguage Coaching?”. So, in this podcast I would like to give my listeners worldwide some insights and clear indications what this means. Firstly, Neurolanguage Coaching is an approach, process or even method to learn any language and not only English. It is crystalised into a different structure that gives coaches a backbone to their whole process. The language learning revolves around the 3Ms and PACT PQC, (for further information check out my book Neurolanguage Coaching https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neurolanguage-Coaching-Friendly-Language-Learning/dp/1910864943 ). The language learning is delivered through brain-friendly coaching conversations, whereby the coach has constant awareness of the impact of his/her communication patterns with the learner. The Neurolanguage Coach is skilfully trained around how to coach around emotional triggers or negative mindset or even bad learning memories, and above all the Neurolanguage Coach knows how to trigger connections between languages following exactly how the brain learns language through association, which is something that I have personally experienced throughout my life. It can be used as a vehicle for any language and also I would like to add it can be used for beginners too or people who are a low level and wish to fast track. However, the lower the level of the learner, the more the process is delivered through the learner’s native language, block-building up the knowledge of the new language.Over the next weeks, I will be interviewing more and more guests but some of them may have a totally different perspective of coaching or language coaching.

In this first episode of this new Podcast Series, I will be introducing the theme of this series “What is Language Coaching?”. We are witnessing how language teaching is transforming worldwide and the new phenomena of language teachers calling themselves language coaches and the question here is what is this? Are there any guidelines or is there a definition? For those who know me, I am the creator of Neurolanguage Coaching®, a new approach and method for language learning which combines the principles of neuroscience together with coaching a vehicle of delivering the learning process. Back in 2012 I created the definition of Neurolanguage Coaching®,“Neurolanguage Coaching® is the efficient and fast transfer of language knowledge from the Language Coach to the Language Coachee with sustainable effects facilitated by brain based coaching and coaching principles.” I am deeply interested and curious to understand what other colleagues and fellow professionals think about the topic of Language Coaching and what they believe it is. So, I have interviewed some of these professionals. I do hope you enjoy listening and interested to know what you think language coaching is :-).
