The last thing Rob expected to be doing in 2024 was talking about Anaheim, California ska-punk/pop band No Doubt, but when he invited Late Slip's ringleader Chelsea Nenni on the show her record choice was crystal clear. When she first heard their breakout album 'Tragic Kingdom' as a 10 year old girl living in Southern California, the seed of one day forming and fronting a band of her own was firmly planted, and Gwen Stefani's honest takes on navigating life and love as a young girl coming of age at the end of the 20th century had a huge impact, even if she didn't quite realize it yet. Songs discussed in this episode: Just A Girl - Florence + The Machine; I'll Be Okay, I Love You, Love Me True - Late Slip; Total Hate 95, Total Hate (Original Version) - No Doubt; On My Radio - The Selecter; Spiderwebs, Excuse Me Mr., Just A Girl - No Doubt; Just A Girl - Florence + The Machine; Happy Now, Different People - No Doubt; Mind Your Business - Late Slip; Hey You, Sixteen, Sunday Morning - No Doubt; Dream On - Aerosmith; Don't Speak, You Can Do It, End It On This, Tragic Kingdom - No Doubt; I Love You - Late Slip

This week Plant Heritage business manager at Plant Heritage Gill Groombridge joins the Horticulture Week PodcastShe reports on her highlights from the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (July 2023) which included displays focusing on the history of Plant Heritage's collections over 5 decades as part of its 45th anniversary celebrations. They announced the winner of the Brickell award - awarded to a collection-holder who has excelled in cultivated plant conservation, which this year went to the Saxifraga national collection holder, Adrian Young.Gill explains the way the people qualify to have their plant collection included under the Plant Heritage umbrella and how overlapping collections in different parts of the country may collaborate to best preserve individual specimens and collections. And where collection holders may, for a variety of reasons, be unable to continue preserving the collection, the importance of succession planning comes to the fore.In 2016 Plant Heritage launched the Missing Genera campaign which highlights a list of plant groups that are missing and hopefully encourage would-be plant collection holders to consider developing one. This year the focus is pollinating plants and includes, among others Cactus, Collocasia, Elaeagnus and Osmanthus."Our conservation team do some amazing work ensuring succession plans, working with collection holders to get what succession plans they can in place to keep plants safe for the future." The guys chat about the All Hallow's EP, the Total Immortal video, The Art of Drowning, Sing the Sorrow and decemberunderground and what the avalanche of success was like.    Davey and Stryker also chat about Dreamcar and the possibility of creating more music with Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont.    Davey reveals to Stryker his favorite AFI album and the guys talk about the upcoming AFI bodies tour.    The new AFI merch (some designed by Skinhead Rob Aston) is fantastic, be on the lookout for the different releases to celebrate 30 years of AFI.   So much ground was covered, the above text are just a few of the highlights of the interview.   Davey is such a powerful and sweet man that has always stuck to his guns.    He is a true artist and a great dude. Joe Horowitz's career can be described as a combo of hit passions: music, travel, golf and linking souls. While I've heard him belt it out with well-known musicians like No Doubt's Adrian Young and he has played alongside musicians like John Oates, Joe Don Rooney (Rascal Flatts), Darius Rucker (Hootie and the Blowfish), Toby Keith and Pat Monohan (Train), what really got me was watching him bring souls together in cyberspace from his garage in Long Island when the world was deep in COVID Quarantine and needed something to believe in and someone to step up and be a leader with soul and humor. If you've been chasing a dream and it hasn't paid off yet in the way you imagined, sit back and let Joe remind you why you started your crazy pursuit in the first place: because you loved it.It is not the critic who counts. A couple of months ago,  I was trying to find a contact for  for Snoop Dog.  He was coming to Tampa to do a show and I wanted to catch up with him (I used to give him licenses when he first came out while I was handling Sampling licensing for MCA) and wanted to get an interview with him for the show.  It didn't happen, but when I was lead to this booking agency, I spoke with a very helpful man named Louis.  We got to talking, he mentioned that he knew of this great drummer/artist Lola Blu from Miami.  I was immediately intrigued.  I also knew what his next question was going to be.  I didn't let him ask it, I said it for him "yes, I'll have her on the show, how can I reach her?" I instantly without even seeing her work that I knew I wanted her on the show. As luck would have it, she has agreed to do the show and she's here with us in today’s episode.  Lola Blu is a multi-faceted artist with skills ranging from visual arts, music and fashion photography.  She combines her passion for music with eccentric visual art.  Her work has graced the stage with many musical sensations and currently she is in an all-female electronic duo consisting of a drummer and DJ called Blu Cartell. Lola does two of my favorite things, art and music. Not only is she a drummer, she was also a dancer starting at age 2.  I feel like we’re kindred spirits. I love her spirit and energy. Lola has created beautiful works of art. She draws and paints fun, images on drum heads and drum shells.  Some of the drummer clients she’s created pieces for include:  Quest Love of The Roots, Aaron Spears of Usher, Brian Frasier Moore of Madonna , Adrian Young of No Doubt, Gerald Heyward of Michael Jackson and many more.  I can’t wait for her to do one for me!! Today, Lola gives you a birds-eye look into how she brought her talent to light and how you should always trust your instinct and follow your bliss. Lola will be part of the Art Basel 2016 shows in Miami, so if you’re in the area, be sure to look her up.
