Description: This month in the Jen Hatmaker Book Club, Jen is joined by novelist Eliana Ramage to talk about her stunning debut, To the Moon and Back—a book that is as page-turny as it is tender, and as expansive as it is rooted. Jen and Eliana trace the actual arc of this book—how it began with an unforgettable spark of an idea at Dartmouth (about an “astronaut girl” who shows us that our stories aren't static, and neither are our people) and how, over more than a decade, that idea became a novel about ambition, belonging, identity, and the complicated, beautiful gravity of connection. In this conversation, Jen and Eliana explore a story centered on a young woman unraveling in the aftermath of loss, navigating complicated relationships, spiritual longing, and the quiet ache of wanting more than the life she's been handed. They dig into the women at the center of the novel—the ones you'll root for, the ones who will frustrate you (hi, ambition), and the ones who will linger long after you close the cover—and they unpack why the ending matters: not because it ties everything into neat bows, but because it honors what's true. Because in real life, healing doesn't land with fireworks. It lands with honesty. With restraint. With the choice to keep loving, even when certainty has slipped through our fingers. This is a conversation about grieving honestly, questioning inherited beliefs, and staying awake to your own life. It's about learning that connection matters more than performance—and trusting that the long arc of love and healing is still unfolding. Whether you're reading along with the book club or simply craving a thoughtful, soulful conversation to start the new year, this episode invites you to slow down, feel deeply, and remember: even in loss, even in doubt, we are still reaching—toward connection, toward each other, and back to ourselves. Thought-provoking Quotes: “This is a story about women who are trying to understand who they are and move forward together after making some mistakes. That's where I definitely am right now. And if I could just finish this one thing that has been so hard for so many years, then it would be the first time I had done something that I could be really proud of.” – Eliana Ramage “I think in real life, you don't need to know that everything is all gonna be figured out at once. You need to land the plane on what matters. I don't think any of us, for our own lives, feel like we have that written out. And so there's some wiggle room on where we could go next, I think.”– Eliana Ramage “It's become kind of a ritual to ask myself, can you believe that you're doing this job because your wildest dreams came true?”– Eliana Ramage Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Avid Reader Press - https://avidreaderpress.com/ Fancy Lunch - https://tinyurl.com/3uyuxryf Joyride: A Memoir by Susan Orlean - https://amzn.to/49vTrhC The Uncool: A Memoir by Cameron Crowe - https://amzn.to/3LFmd7n Lily King - https://lilykingbooks.com/ Reese Witherspoon book club pick - September 2025 - https://reesesbookclub.com/book/to-the-moon-and-back/ Mid-America All Indian Center, Wichita, KS - https://www.theindianmuseum.org/ Awake: A Memoir by Jen Hatmaker - https://amzn.to/4swRPg9 Parnassus Books - https://parnassusbooks.net/ Ring of Salt: A Memoir of Finding Home and Hope on the Wild Coast of Ireland by Betsy Cornwell - https://amzn.to/3Z9qtPu I'll Tell You When I'm Home by Hala Alyan - https://amzn.to/4bof7yr Guest's Links: Website - https://www.elianaramage.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/elianaramage/ Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. Mia’s back in charge of today’s subscriber episode - and she’s brought Amelia Lester into the studio to talk about something we’re technically not supposed to notice. We’re currently living through the ‘weight loss injections and plastic surgery’ era and frankly, things are getting complicated. In this candid, subscriber-only episode, Mia and Amelia deep dive into why so many people in Hollywood - and even some of our friend groups - are suddenly looking unrecognisable and just a little bit AI. In this episode, they unpack the alarming “thinspo” trend and also ask the question no one wants to answer: when did looking like a real human being become a radical act? It’s the conversation Mia’s been wanting to have for a long time, but one that feels increasingly like it’s off limits. It’s raw, slightly uncomfortable and exactly why you’re here. Remember, this is just a little sneak peak. The full debrief drops for subscribers at 5pm. We’re giving away a Your Reformer Pilates bed (worth $3,400). She is a working woman whose astounding accomplishments defy patriarchal norms. And while not all women can be Beyoncé or Dolly Parton or Reese Witherspoon, the successes of these trailblazing stars help us understand the central role of women in today's economy. Swiftynomics: How Women Mastermind and Redefine Our Economy (U California Press, 2026) assesses the complex economic lives of everyday American women through the stories of groundbreakers like Taylor Swift, Misty L. She highlights the abundance of productive activity in their daily lives and acknowledges the barriers they still face. Are European leaders just sucking his abuse up – or are their subtle pushbacks working? Send us a textIn Part Two of The Fixate & Binge Podcast's conversation with actor and musician Larry Bagby and BAND ON THE RUN writer-director Jeff Hupp, the focus turns to legacy, collaboration, and the moments that define a creative life. The episode opens with host Joe Curdy offering a quick rundown of what's currently on his radar — including early thoughts on A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, why he's holding out to binge all episodes of season 2 of HBO's THE PITT — followed by his Letterboxd review of the new horror film 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE. From there, the discussion returns to Bagby, as he reflects on one of the most beloved chapters of his career: Disney's modern classic HOCUS POCUS. Bagby shares behind-the-scenes memories, the unexpected cultural longevity of the film, and how its enduring popularity reshaped both his career and his connection with audiences. Bagby also pulls back the curtain on working with Academy Award winners Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon in James Mangold's WALK THE LINE. Jeff Hupp remains an essential voice throughout the conversation, offering thoughtful insight into Bagby's creative journey, their shared work on BAND ON THE RUN, and the rare chemistry that develops when actor and filmmaker truly trust one another. Together, Bagby and Hupp reflect on how their collaboration strengthened the film's emotional core — and hint at the possibility of future projects still to come. The episode reaches a special, intimate highlight when Bagby performs a live, original song from BAND ON THE RUN, giving listeners a powerful glimpse into his artistry as both a musician and storyteller.Warm, reflective, and full of heart, Part Two celebrates not only Bagby's enduring career, but also the collaborative spirit between artist and filmmaker — bringing this two-part Fixate & Binge journey to a thoughtful and inspiring close. Please note: Due to minor technical issues during recording, some audio may feature a slight echo — thank you for your patience and understanding.Thank you for listening! BEND & SNAP!! Legally Blonde Full Movie Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects Download PrizePicks today at https://www.prizepicks.onelink.me/LME... & use code REJECTS to get $50 instantly when you play $5! Greg Alba & Aaron Alexander react to Legally Blonde, and this movie is WAY smarter, warmer, and more empowering than its reputation sometimes gets credit for. Starring Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods, Legally Blonde follows an underestimated sorority queen who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex — only to discover her intelligence, confidence, and self-worth along the way. What starts as a fish-out-of-water comedy becomes a sharp commentary on sexism, elitism, and judging people by appearances. In this reaction, we talk through Elle's character growth, iconic scenes like the admissions video, the classroom moments with Professor Callahan, the courtroom finale, and why this movie still resonates decades later. From comedy to heart, Legally Blonde proves you can be feminine, kind, and brilliant — all at the same time. Send us a textKatie and Bridget Bend and Snap as they re-watch the iconic 2000's movie: Legally Blonde! It's a movie all about how if your ex-boyfriend is a loser who dumps you at the START of a dinner together and then you decide to follow him to law school but you quickly realize he's a jabrony - takes a deep breathe - that you should just forgot about his butt-head and become star student instead! What!? Like it's hard!? Come along as we meet Elle Woods, a newly admitted Harvard Law student who quickly dominates the school and shows everyone there's more to her than just her blonde hair and fashion sense! ...Because wearing pink equals fashion sense, apparently! This movie has us asking the deeps questions, such as: What happens within our justice system if a witness to a murder trials confesses to the crime on the stand? How common is it to get a 179/180 on your LSATs? Did Kim Kardashian steal the faux fur panties idea from this movie while she was studying to go to law school!? All this and more in this funny, feministic movie that in our opinion, holds up! Released in 2001, it stars Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Jennifer Coolidge, Ali Larter, Alanna Ubach, Jessica Cauffiel, and Victor Garber.

Warning: if you liked this book, you're probably not going to like this episode. The Buddies spent 45 minutes trashing Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben's new book collaboration "Gone Before Goodbye". A book so spectacularly bad that the Buddies are considering picketing Barnes & Noble. This literary dumpster fire had all the hallmarks of a ChatGPT fever dream: nonsensical plot twists, a plastic surgeon performing expert heart surgery, even the clever character names like "Pork Chop" and "Cinderblock" couldn't save this one. So grab your Thumper 7 artificial heart, practice your most unrealistic dialogue, and join the other Buddies/listeners who can appreciate a good 0.5-star review. So there's a young, handsome man who's suddenly all over our feeds. Some people say he's going to save America. Others say he's just a very good example of how charisma is the only thing that matters in a politician for the digital age. All we want to know about Zohran Mamdani is: What does he want from us? Also, Reese Witherspoon says the reason we're so bad at dating these days is because we're not watching rom-coms any more. Jessie, Amelia and Holly unpack some of the helpful dating tips they've got from rom-coms and ask: Were we really better at talking to each other in the Sweet Home Alabama era? And, 'smellmaxxing' and its unknowable limits. Now that your average 14-year-old boy has his own 'fragrance wardrobe' and we've all very much accepted that we stink, it was only a matter of time until there was a deodorant for everywhere, including 'down there'.
