The time has come to journey into the nexus of the dark side with our review of Adam Christopher's, ‘Master of Evil,' a mesmerizing and haunting novel centered around Darth Vader and his quest for knowledge and power during the burgeoning of the Empire. An unforgettable cast of characters, both sentient and droid, plot around the dark lord as he discovers and is tested by a dark side vergence within an ancient temple first discovered and kept hidden by Palpatine's previous apprentice, Darth Tyranus.
It's the concluding chapter of the original Star Wars trilogy this week, as we tackle Return of the Jedi. If you're over 35 this was probably your favourite Star Wars movie as a kid - an action-filled romp across a forest moon, Tatooine and a brand new Death Star. It's got speeder bike chases, Leia in that outfit, and Luke facing off against Darth Vader and the Emperor. What's not to like? The ewoks. The ewoks are not to like, right? We're all agreed? In honor of the tenth anniversary of The Force Awakens, Ryan and Dylan kick off the Star Wars specials with a look at the highly divisive, yet often wonderfully brilliant, conclusive trilogy to the Skywalker Saga.
This is what happens when you put a Navy Tomcat legend behind a camera and let him tell the story his way. Heater takes us from KC-135 tanker ops with that infamous hard hose, to the kind of “how'd-you-do-that?” plug where he's steady on the basket and still managing to grab photos mid-refuel. Then we pivot into Top Gun lore from someone who was actually there: the “Star Wars on Earth” in more ways than one; the image that helped ignite the franchise; two days of filming “You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin',” and the blink-and-you'll-miss-it mystery of a possible Darth Vader lurking in the background of the bar scene. Along the way, Heater breaks down what aviation photography really takes: planning, timing, composition, and the occasional blind shot that somehow becomes iconic. And years later, he's still uncovering gems in old slide boxes that prove the best pictures sometimes outlive the moment by decades. Long-form, hilarious, and packed with aviation history and insider detail. F-14 on the Fantail Heater Paint Scheme
In the first draft of Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker didn't become Darth Vader after killing Mace Windu. He turned later, inside the Jedi Temple, manipulated into believing the Jedi had betrayed the Republic. In today's video let's explore George Lucas's early version of the fall, why it made Anakin too passive, and how rewriting it as a conscious choice turned Revenge of the Sith into tragedy instead of accident. This week we're all enjoying The Empire Strikes Back - Dave's favourite Star Wars film. Rob's favourite Star Wars film. Not Nath's though, but he does still like it. You could describe Empire as the beginning of Star Wars as a 'franchise' - it's a film brimming with confidence, with characters hitting their stride (Darth Vader is definitely evil now and C3PO is a bit nicer) and with ships and set-pieces that would make excellent toys. Then there's that bit - one of the most famous twists in cinema history, a moment that ignited spoiler culture as we know it. Let's dive in!We'll be watching the original Star Wars trilogy followed by the prequel trilogy, all through December and January. Dates are below!Star Wars: An Intro - 8/12/25Bonus - Star Wars Games - 10/12/25A New Hope - 15/12/25Empire Strikes Back - 22/12/25Mail Bag End 2 - 24/12/25 Hosted on Acast. In this week's Interview Classic podcasts, we're jumping back to two interviews.Ten years ago this week (12-17-2015), PWTorch editor Wade Keller interviewed “Stone Cold” Steve Austin with a great mix of topics including reviewing Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe through a main event wrestler's lens, the prospects of both Balor and Joe on the main roster, the Roman Reigns angle with Stephanie and Vince on Raw on Monday, how close Reigns is to being a polished top main event act, Kevin Owens' bodytype, and other current events. Also, who are on Steve Austin's dream podcast interview subjects list – dead or alive – pro wrestling or otherwise. Some thoughts on Darth Vader and more! Then, PWTorch columnist Pat McNeill welcomed an All-Star Panel of Kevin Kleinrock from Masked Republic lucha libre and wrestling interviewer Scott Fishman (12-9-2015) to break some news and talk about the news with live calls and emails.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-podcast--3076978/support.

Luke Skywalker, shut up and eat your jelly! As everyone knows, Christmas is like Cursed Objects Christmas, and so sure enough: it's the long-awaited CO Christmas Special. REJOICE! This year, we are talking about childhood experiences of Christmas, then and now. Starting off with toy crazes, from Optimus Prime to Cabbage Patch Dolls, and therefore, the true meaning of Christmas: supply-chain economics. “Kids used to be satisfied by a promissory bond!” Kasia rightly complains. We discuss our own childhood moments of WONDER and AWE, Dalmation-related magick, votive offerings to Father Christmas, and the varied acts of parental pageantry required by the season. We learn that Wu-Tang Clan are not just for Christmas - Raekwon is a year-round commitment - ask whether Darth Vader is the original Grinch, why children are such sticklers for the rules (and such fans of Dostoevsky), and introduce perhaps correctly overlooked festive characters Krampus and Farmhand Rupert, Santa's designated driver and NPC. Have a wonderful holiday, love from Kasia, Dan, Nick and Archie - see you in 2026! x ~~~~~ Christmas is a time of giving, so do please consider supporting our Patreon: To access a back catalogue of over 30 exclusive bonus eps it is STILL ONLY £4 a month to sign up, and support your favourite cultural historians: https://www.patreon.com/c/cursedobjects ~~~~~ Theme music and production: Mr Beatnick Artwork: Archie Bashford
Marvel's ambitious Jedi Knights maxi-series comes to what we think is a satisfying conclusion, albeit one with some threads that we hope are explored down the road. Jedi Knights #10 caps the pre-Phantom Menace-era title that gave readers new jedi and a deeper understanding not just of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but Count Dooku, too.Comics Discussed This Week:Jedi Knights #10 (of 10)Star Wars Comics New to Marvel Unlimited This Week: Jedi Knights #7 (of 10) News:Coming March 4 from Marvel Comics is the five-issue Star Wars: Shadow of Maul prequel mini-series to the upcoming Maul -- Shadow Lord animated series. Emotie is de kern van elk goed verhaal.'Timestamps:00:00:00 Nerd Culture #23700:01:13 Wat hebben we gekeken?00:01:20 IT: Welcome to Derry00:04:12 Mr. Mercedes00:07:05 Troll 200:12:34 Special Forces00:19:42 Blockbuster Helden00:25:12 Supergirl Trailer00:27:40 The Rock & Brendan Fraser00:31:25 Paramount vs Warner Bros00:36:00 Disney x OpenAI (Sora)00:40:12 Hijack Season 2 Trailer00:43:45 Sakamoto Days (Live-Action)00:45:48 Street Fighter Trailer00:46:08 28 Years Later00:49:31 Thor in Avengers: Doomsday?00:51:48 Sebastian Stan over Doomsday00:56:43 Doom vs Captain America01:04:00 Sigourney Weaver & Alien01:07:00 The Boys – Final Season
This week: Disney has agreed to make a $1 billion equity investment in OpenAI along with a licensing deal setting limitations on the use of it's IP on Sora. Felix Salmon, Elizabeth Spiers, and Emily Peck discuss this is a precedent-setting deal and how well OpenAI will actually be able to enforce the terms of the licensing agreement. Then, the hosts examine the likelihood of rumored tech IPOs that could be more than $1 trillion each, including Elon Musk' s SpaceX. And finally, Instacart's variable prices signal a growing trend toward dynamic pricing for everything from eggs to soccer tickets. The hosts dive into the threat of companies using our personal data to set individual prices and what's being done to prevent it. It's the middle of December and throughout the Web, all the crawlers are stirring and AI Bots getting fed. The products displayed on folk's sites with due care, in hopes that St. Googlishous would bring traffic there. Suddenly somewhere in GA4 there arose such a clatter, I had to get off of my ass to see what was the matter. And then what from Schwartz's deli of news briefs should appear? Notes that another Core Update was already here... Perhaps it's not such a big deal however as Google confirmed it issues core updates more frequently than previously announced. In fact, Google performs several unannounced core updates each year. This isn't really a surprise but then again, neither is a major update in mid-December. Google seems to do it every year. We welcomed legendary SEO Jenny Halasz to the show to talk about her new book, "AI Powered Content Marketing and SEO", co-authored with Catherine Seda and published by Pearson O'Reilly. We also talk about the Yext study that reveals more about how the Local Pack gets formed, the 1-year long deal-cap being imposed on Google, Microsoft's pull back on Copilot due to lack of user interest, Disney's $1Billion deal with OpenAI that will bring AI versions of Mickey and Darth Vader together again, Megadrama in the Metaverse, Operation Bluebird, the OAI-SearchBot Crawler, how Google Shopping crawlers are too fast for your JavaScript, more links in AI Mode, and a lot more stuff you need to know before the web slows down for the early winter break. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

And to celebrate, we're going long on the Lucasfilm multimedia project that effectively ended the late-80's to mid-90's wild west era of semi-canonical Star Wars tales, and ushered in the prequel era: Shadows of the Empire, an "everything but the movie" undertaking that spawned a full-length novel, a soundtrack, a best-selling video game, and a series of comics. Join Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Darth Vader, Prince Xizor, and a cast of thousands in dropping to one knee and humbly admitting... it's Dash Rendar's world, we're all just living in it.

Dive deep into the strategic mindset of level design, the shift from AAA development to indie studio entrepreneurship, and a radical new business model for creating innovative "Cocktail Games."Key Takeaways & Discussion PointsThe Reality of Level Design Beyond Architecture: Willem, a former level designer at Velan (Knockout City) and Zynga (Star Wars Hunters) , defines level design not as architecture, but as the execution of the game's intent and vision. You are the "great implementers" who build the playground for the core mechanics. Finding the Fun: Execution requires risk-taking. Good levels break the traditional norms—like the restrictive three-lane structure in some shooters —to find unexpected fun and keep the experience fresh. Inspiration Outside the Engine: To avoid creative blocks, step outside your comfort zone. Willem found inspiration for a level in Knockout City (Rooftop Rumble) by listening to Pink Floyd and used JFK assassination podcasts to conceptualize Darth Vader's Castle.

Jillian Michaels has stepped out of her infamous "Darth Vader" role from "The Biggest Loser" and joins Glenn to dismantle the smearing of RFK Jr., fire back at those calling Charlie Kirk a bigot, and confess that she is “terrified” of what the modern Left has become — while noting how "the Right is looking a heck of a lot more diverse these days." From the glowing horrors of Fruit Loops and GMOs to the “catastrophic quartet of Big Food, Big Ag, Big Pharma, and Big Insurance” re-engineering our food to overcome the effects of drugs like Ozempic, the pair wonder if it's time for a 12-step program for food addiction. Jillian delivers wake-up calls on the transgender movement and the “psyop” of body positivity, before reflecting on training "The Biggest Loser" contestants and the vital role of personal responsibility and escaping victimhood. She describes the vaccine debate as a “red herring,” and Glenn breaks down his stance on gay marriage, MAHA, and what the liberals of his generation got right. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. It's All Gonna Be Okay Reflections on the ongoing government shutdown, now in its 21st day, framing it as a result of Democratic obstructionism. Clay and Buck also discuss President Donald Trump's $250 million White House ballroom renovation, joking about Clay’s dancing skills and the broader implications of the renovation. A major segment focuses on the broken ceasefire in Gaza, with Buck emphasizing that Hamas remains unchanged and peace is impossible while its leadership remains intact. The hosts also highlight Judge Jeanine Pirro’s defense of Edward “Big Balls,” a man who intervened in a carjacking incident, portraying him as a patriotic hero. The show then shifts to political media, mocking Karine Jean-Pierre’s book and criticizing the broader trend of Biden administration officials publishing memoirs. Clay and Buck argue that these books reveal a lack of awareness or integrity regarding President Biden’s cognitive decline. A significant portion of Hour 1 centers on the heated New York City mayoral race. Curtis Sliwa refuses to drop out despite pressure, which Clay argues will ensure the election of progressive candidate “Mamdani.” The hosts debate whether Andrew Cuomo would be a better alternative and explore the strategic implications for the Republican Party. They suggest that a Momani victory could benefit national GOP efforts by making far-left politics more visible and unpopular in battleground states. The discussion includes commentary on Bill Ackman, down-ballot Republican candidates, and the broader impact on upstate New York. NYC Mayor's Race New York City mayoral race, where Curtis Sliwa faces mounting pressure to drop out to prevent a victory by far-left candidate Zohran Mamdani. The New York Post’s front-page plea for Sliwa to “just walk away” underscores the urgency felt by conservatives. Buck and Clay debate whether Andrew Cuomo would be a better alternative, despite his controversial record on bail reform and COVID-19 policies. They also discuss the broader political ramifications, suggesting that a Mamdani win could energize Republican campaigns in New Jersey, Virginia, and beyond. Stripper Teachers The fallout from a Chicago elementary school teacher who made a gesture mimicking the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a “No Kings” protest. Clay argues that public school teachers should be held to a moral standard and that such behavior warrants termination. This sparks a lively debate with listeners calling in to defend or challenge the idea, including humorous and serious takes on whether teachers should be allowed to moonlight as strippers or work at Hooters. The hosts also revisit the Jimmy Kimmel controversy and the broader issue of free speech versus professional accountability. They emphasize that First Amendment protections do not guarantee immunity from consequences in the workplace, especially when public trust is at stake. This leads into a discussion of COVID-era hypocrisy, including the absurd restrictions placed on athletes like Kyrie Irving and the shifting public narrative around vaccine mandates. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is praised for acknowledging that Kyrie was right to resist the COVID shot, a stance that was once widely condemned. Dishonest Democrats Trump’s East Wing renovation, including a ballroom project and a humorous historical anecdote about JFK’s infamous White House pool parties. The hosts use this to critique the media’s long-standing romanticization of Democratic figures like JFK and FDR, highlighting how past administrations manipulated public perception with the help of a compliant press. The conversation shifts to Trump’s speech on the shutdown, where he praises OMB Director Russ Vought—nicknamed “Darth Vader”—for cutting Democrat priorities and wasteful spending. Clay and Buck argue that the shutdown has allowed the administration to eliminate unnecessary programs, particularly in blue states, and that Democrats are struggling to justify their resistance. They mock Chuck Schumer’s attempt to frame the shutdown as a Republican failure, labeling it the “Schumer Shutdown” and pointing out the hypocrisy of Democrats who once promised Obamacare would lower healthcare costs.
