In this episode, I sit down with return guests Amanda Porta and Robyn Towt to discuss an extremely important update within the breast implant industry. With a new, "safer" Motiva implant pending FDA approval, these women want to make sure the truth is given to all women considering implants in the future. This implant (that was supposed to hit the U.S. market in 2023) claims to be vastly safer than its competitors because of revolutionary technology (including a microchip), and backed by "rigorous science" and "clinical data."Both Amanda and Robyn have graciously come back to properly educate us all on what's really going on and that despite claims, this shiny new option is not what it's cracked up to be. As well-known patient advocates, both women feel it is their duty and responsibility to highlight the unfortunate and consistent safety concerns, along with the fact that nearly all safety studies advertised by the company have conflicts of interest. These implants are also already approved in some countries, where authorities have come forward with serious concerns, considering the onset of symptoms/illness they are seeing. With the date of FDA approval unknown, these women are passionate about continuing to share the crucial importance of both real informed consent, as well as call attention to the common health concerns that are associated with ALL breast implants, including this upcoming option. They want women to be aware of the fact that the majority of doctors are not given the full story, and are sadly unaware of the realities of BII, as well as cancer concerns.Amanda on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theholisticbeautycoach/Robyn on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robyntowt/Robyn on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/robyn.towt.7GPAC Website: https://www.gpacunited.org/Other IWP Episodes Regarding Breast Implant Illness:10/3/23 Episode 35 (Amanda and Robyn): https://www.buzzsprout.com/2009046/1361503310/10/23 Episode 36 (Joy Corrigan): https://www.buzzsprout.com/2009046/13681625Podcast on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Podcast on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@IntentionallyWellPodcastPodcast on TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@well.with.vanessaVanessa's Homebase Link (all discount links, etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In NeedCUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I have a forthright and highly thoughtful conversation with Chronic Pain Coach, Dan Buglio, who specializes in TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome) and Mindbody resolution. This conversation is a MUST LISTEN if you or someone you know is suffering from chronic pain or other chronic symptoms DESPITE your/their diagnosis, imaging results, surgery reports, etc. Dan has been sharing content on how to break free from chronic pain through his Pain Free You channels for over four years now, and has helped thousands resolve chronic issues that were thought of as impossible to change. His work is largely based off of TMS (pioneered by Dr. John Sarno), but has also branched off to further educate people on what he calls "perceived danger pain." While pain is not "our fault," we can unintentionally find ourselves in a cycle of chronic pain due to the information our brain is continually receiving (this also includes a large range of other symptoms such as IBS, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, vertigo, anxiety, migraine headaches, skin issues, food sensitivities, etc.). Dan's goal is to teach others how to teach their brain that they are not in danger, therefore creating safety so the brain can then operate off of good information versus misinformation and bad data. The majority of us have been programmed to think that we have to live with chronic pain/symptoms due to injury, surgery, degeneration and age, a medical diagnosis, unknown reasons, and even repressed emotional turbulence/trauma. Many of us have also medicalized our situations, believing that there is no out because we feel we have a "real problem" that cannot be solved or fixed. However, countless willing people who've led with an open mind have changed their situations due to Dan's guidance, teachings, and daily videos. Please see all the resources below!Dan's Website: PainFreeYou.comFast Start Link: http://DansFastStart.comDan on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/danbuglio/Dan on YouTube: http://DansYouTube.comDan on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PainFreeYouNow Group Program: http://PainFreeYouGroup.com Assessment Page: https://www.painfreeyou.com/startPodcast on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Podcast on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@IntentionallyWellPodcastPodcast on TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@well.with.vanessaVanessa's Linktree (discount links, etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I have the wonderful opportunity to sit down with Brad Yates...speaker, author, YouTuber, and "Tapping" Extraordinaire. Tapping, also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), is a very simple healing tool to help oneself clear mental and emotional blockages that could be keeping them stuck to any degree in life. Brad's genuine intent to share a couple basic videos on YouTube years ago exploded as people took to his creative and often humorous use of EFT, which led to his now massive online presence, with over 1000 videos and 45 million views. Tapping is used as an effective method of physically resetting the body's fear response by tapping on energy meridians throughout the body, while talking through the process in order to facilitate the clearing of emotional resistance and/or trauma. During this discussion we go over all of the following and more:The basics of EFT (tapping)The science behind tapping and how it coincides with the science of acupunctureWhat happens with the brain/nervous system as you implement EFT/tappingThe "whys" behind how despite our desire to change or heal, we get stuck or feel stagnant in our progress due to unconscious programmingHow tapping can be applied to any scenario/concern one is having in life, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, general stress, anger, insomnia, etc.How it can help with acute or chronic health symptoms and chronic painFAQs on tapping Full demonstration via YouTube: https://youtu.be/DMA3-CCJFc8?si=190xfFbGMfC0uwPjBe sure to check out the below resources and visit/subscribe to Brad's YouTube channel for the many instructional videos he has available:Brad's Website: https://www.tapwithbrad.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/tapwithbradFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TapWithBradInstagram: http://instagram.com/tapwithbradTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@tapwithbradTwitter: http://twitter.com/tapwithbradLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tapwithbrad/Free 5-day Tap into Your Best Self Program: www.tapwithbrad.com/bestselfShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (discount links, etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. With conditions like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease at an all-time high, education on prevention is of critical importance today. In this incredibly informative episode, Dr. Mani Kukreja covers disease prevention in a way that is uncomplicated, by giving the "WHYS" behind the "WHAT TO DOS." We are constantly hearing about the primary habits and practices we should be implementing in order to age well, but do we really know WHY?Some of the questions answered during this discussion:What role do genetics play in how we age? What is cellular aging? What does it mean when someone refers to our "metabolic function?"What is metabolic disease and what are the top examples? Why doesn't mainstream medicine address the prevention of metabolic disease, or any disease? What happens to our cells when we are facing disease? What is happening with our body when we sleep? And when we don't sleep? What is occurring during the different phases of the sleep cycle? How can we take steps to measure our sleep? How can intermittent fasting help us age more gracefully? Is intermittent fasting right for everyone? Men? Women? All ages? How is blood sugar related to top diseases, including cancer? Why does blood sugar dysregulation have such a negative impact on aging?Doe we need to lower our food intake as we get older? How does our intake of sugar impact aging including the appearance of our skin? What kind of foods should we be mindful of when we are considering our sugar intake? Is alcohol okay to drink in moderation as we age?How much muscle mass do we lose after 40 years of age?Why is the loss of muscle mass dangerous as we get older and how does this influence the onset of disease? What are the pros and cons of sun exposure? What should we be using if we are exposed to the sun long term? What should you know if you're using or plan to use retinol for as a preventative tool? For more information, please see below for resources:Dr. Mani Kukreja's website: https://livagewell.net/Dr. Mani Kukreja on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dr_mani.kukreja/Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (discount links, etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this discussion, I sit down with Wellness Entrepreneur, Behavior Change Specialist, and Podcast Host Chardét Ryel, as we unravel the complexities surrounding toxic "healthy" behaviors. In today's times, it's more important than ever to care for our bodies and our health, yet it's also easier than we assume to ironically fall into unhealthy patterns of obsession. Chardét gives us a lot to ponder here, as we chat about the following:The WHY's on how fitness can evolve into an unhealthy practiceHow body image struggles often stem from our childhood and developmental yearsSocial media's role in this, and how we are often not shown the whole story with health/fitness influencersHow we easily justify and mentally minimize these behaviors due to the inherent nature of fitness and other wellness habitsHow toxic health/fitness behaviors can influence others around us including our childrenQuestions to reflect on if you sense the need to look deeper into this topic Actionable tools to implement NOW, in efforts to step into a more balanced and fulfilling lifestyle...and more. This episode is a must listen for both women and men who are committed to a healthy lifestyle and truly desire a mentally sustainable approach to achieving their goals and optimizing their well-being in general. Join me as I sit down with international model, actress, and philanthropist Joy Corrigan, to candidly talk about her journey with Breast Implant Illness and how this experience has led her down a path towards self-discovery and deeper healing. This special episode highlights the very real issues concerning Breast Implant Illness, and how impactful the effects of implants can be on the body. Joy does a beautiful job of sharing her story, illustrating the road leading up to her decision to explant, and the emotional turbulence she experienced prior to surgery. We chat about the behind-the-scenes reality of what was physically going on for years and how her body's cues crept in little by little. This amazing conversation not only reveals the destructive nature of BII, but also calls attention to a much deeper message...as we dive into the importance of mental and emotional health, self-reflection, healing trauma, and more.Joy gives us a very raw take on how the modeling industry and it's expectations can take a massive toll on body image/self worth, and that we've all been sold a false bill of goods as to what true beauty really entails.Joy has discovered that she's been divinely called to share her journey and use her platform to help others potentially connect the dots in their own lives...while also bringing imperative awareness to the fact that authentic healing is much more than a physical venture. She shares that trial and struggle are a very real part of life despite career choices, success, status, or fame...and that it's ultimately OUR job to take agency over our health and life. You'll undoubtedly be touched by this conversation, as you're met with Joy's honesty and genuine determination to help others today and in the days ahead. Please don't forget to share this episode with someone you believe will benefit from listening, and if you feel called to share your thoughts with either Joy or myself, please don't hesitate...we'd love to hear from you.Joy Corrigan on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joycorrigan/Joy Corrigan on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@joycorriganShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (Discounts etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this eye-opening episode, I sit down with Patient Advocates Amanda Porta and Robyn Towt to have a much needed and detailed discussion about Breast Implant Illness. Both with remarkable stories and a passion for education, Amanda and Robynare on a prominent mission to spread truth among women across the world, in efforts to highlight the very real and COMMON happenings associated with breast implants.Amanda has worked in and throughout the beauty/plastic surgery industry for decades, and was ultimately inspired to pursue Holistic Health coaching. Now laser focused on guiding women with BII towards healing and optimal health, she has dedicated her life to redirecting the public's view on what health and beauty really entails. As someone who never saw critical or chronic health issues prior to implants, she's determined to use her voice and expose the darker sides of beauty procedures and the industry's dirty secrets.Robyn—now three-time cancer survivor—became co-founder of the Global Patient Advocacy Coalition (GPAC) and is also an administrator in various online support groups for women who are suffering from BII. She's worked extensively with Arizona legislators in passing an informed consent law for breast implant surgery, and the GPAC team has also partnered with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) to develop a patient decision checklist. With both of these women having experienced BII and explant surgeries, they know firsthand how real and truly life-altering these decisions can be. They believe every patient should be given the opportunity to make an educated and informed choice, and that means having ALL of the information, not just selected information.Amanda on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theholisticbeautycoach/Amanda's Lymph Website: https://www.lymphlounge.comRobyn on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robyntowt/Robyn on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/robyn.towt.7GPAC Website: https://www.gpacunited.org/Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (Discounts etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I have a beautiful chat with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Tory Eletto, to candidly discuss the uniqueness of being an empath. This discussion is filled to the brim with Tory's professional knowledge and first-hand experience, as she takes on a host of questions I have for her such as:What does it really mean to be an EMPATH?What's the difference between having empathy and sympathy? Is being a Highly Sensitive Person the same thing? How does this all relate to intuition? What are the misconceptions about empath? How does one grow to become an empath and how is this related to trauma or unprocessed emotions? Can one be an extrovert and still be an empath? Is there a tie between empaths and ADHD?How does being an empath affect self-worth?How does one cultivate helpful boundaries? Why should we pay attention to nervous system health? How does one navigate friendships or romantic relationships as an empath? What are some healthy or unhealthy examples of how to communicate? Is it really possible to walk this life as an empath without feeling weighed down or burdened?Whether you are an empath or know someone who is, this show illuminates key behaviors and more importantly helpful tools for living a more balanced and fruitful life.Tory on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nytherapist/Webinars Offered: https://tory-eletto.mykajabi.com/Donation-based Webinar (October 2023): https://www.eventbrite.com/e/finding-you-how-your-emotions-teach-you-about-who-you-are-tickets-706019301737?aff=oddtdtcreatorShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (Discounts etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. Fan communities – from gaming and sports to music and festivals – offer unprecedented opportunities for brands to plug into the power of passion – the lifeblood of fandoms. In this dynamic episode, host Ben Downing sat down with special guests Twitch streamer Vanessa Lopez and Kevin Paskins, Pan EMEA Sales Director, Twitch to explore how creatorsand fans interact to build communities, and how to create unique media experiences on live-streaming platform Twitch. Providing valuable guidance for brands, this conversation delves into how creators, brands and platforms coalesce to build meaningful relationships with fandoms. “That's the great thing about Twitch, it's like watching TV but talking to each other. Like watching a movie with a friend, you're talking about the movie with the friend in real time,” says Vanessareferring to the social interaction and the live conversations with her community, conversations which pour into real life moments too. “Fandom is about entertainment,” underlines Kevin who shares that, on average, there are 7.6 fandoms per person, citing Twitch's recent Anatomy of Hype report, with ‘happiness' and ‘connection' key drivers. Welcome to what feels like the first episode of the INTENTIONALLY UNPREPARED Series! My current thought is to sprinkle these "couch conversations" in from time to time...as they definitely reflect a different feel than all of the other episodes here on Intentionally Well. The following is a candid chat (versus an interview) with Homeopathic Doctor, Sarah Trask...about our faith in God and healing. Life's trials and tribulations can often be very hard to bear, and we find ourselves depleted and defeated, wondering if we will ever see change. In our human quest for control and power, these trials hit our lives FOR us, despite our pain, sorrow, grief, or discomfort. The "growing pains" we face are usually great and purposeful gifts, and pave the way for both our surrendering and our salvation. In this unconventional episode, Sarah and I bring what would be a typical phone conversation of ours to the podcast mic. It is an extremely raw, imperfect, organic episode with no prep and all heart.Sarah Trask's Website: https://www.sarahtrask.com/Sarah Trask on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarahtraskhomeopath/Devotional book mention: https://a.co/d/h4gV32AShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (Discounts etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I have the pleasure of sitting down with licensed acupuncturist and functional medicine specialist Nick Fransen, who's mission is to help people overcome the subconscious blocks that are keeping them STUCK. Nick has dedicated his time and efforts towards educating patients/people about the unhelpful patterns of our subconscious mind, and how breaking them can lead to healing the body and creating more peace and success in one's life.We largely discuss how the body really does "keep score," and how health conditions, sleep troubles, addictions, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and more can really be the result of subconscious programming associated with past life circumstances and/or trauma. Nick teaches us the different ways our minds become programmed, and how it's very common to see people with chronic health conditions unintentionally held back from healing due to these hardwired beliefs, attitudes, and blocks. He shares how this also applies to other versions of feeling "stuck" in life, such as relationship/marital issues, career and financial stress, and more. This conversation is the real deal. We share a lot of candid conversation, personal stories, and more during this chat; we even talk forgiveness, harboring resentments, and the emotional toll it takes on us when we avoid this very important piece of “wellness.”Nick then gives us a great glimpse at how a specific type of homeopathy (discovered in Europe) can help guide us towards breaking these subconscious patterns, loops, and habits. When we start to address this often-missed aspect of health and healing, we open the door for long-time burdens to be alleviated, and create space for us to thrive in health and in our lives overall.Nick's Website: https://www.privianaturals.com/Practice Website: http://fransencenter.com/NOTE: Practitioners who are interested in more information, please visit the the Privia Naturals link aboveShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (Discounts etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this interview, I have a thought-provoking conversation with Rick Olderman, orthopedic physical therapist specializing in chronic pain and nagging injuries that "seem to be incapable" of healing.A huge motivating factor behind Rick's search for answers was his own chronic back pain, and after years in clinic but unable to fully help patients, he realized that the fundamental and crucial element connecting movement, structure, and pain was missing from the general conventional physical therapy practice. With additional training and knowledge in Pilates, personal training, and yoga--yet still coming up short--Rick went on to dedicate the last two decades towards pioneering this systems-based research. His affordable at-home programs provide a much deeper understanding of how unhelpful lifestyle habits and movement patterns can break down muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bone, which in turn creates pain. He's written several books, including his newest, "Solving the Pain Puzzle," and Rick holds a very stern belief that given the right tools, we absolutely have the ability to heal chronic pain.Rick and I talk about everything from the faulty belief systems we have about our bodies, we discuss why this systems-based approach is not addressed in PT school, he educates us on the patterns of dysfunction, goes through some interactive exercises with us, and so much more. This episode is truly supercharged with detailed information, and provides much hope to those who've felt stuck because of their pain.Rick's Website: www.rickolderman.comRick's Latest Book, SOLVING THE PAIN PUZZLE: https://www.amazon.com/Solving-Pain-Puzzle-Physical-Therapist/dp/1476690693Back Pain Program: https://fixingyoumethod.com/lp/backRick on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RickOldermanPTRick on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fixingyouclinic/Rick on Twitter: https://twitter.com/FixingYouClinicRick on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FixingYouMethodRink on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rickolderman/Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree (Discounts etc.): https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. Welcome to your ultimate guide to ALL THINGS mushrooms and mushroom supplementation! I sit down with Jeff Chilton during this interview, ethno-mycologist and passionate founder and president of Nammex, which happens to be the very first company to offer a complete line of Certified Organic Mushroom extracts to the United States Supplement Industry. This is a super fun and educational episode about mushrooms, as we first talk about their growing cycle, and then how they can be used as nutritional powerhouses in our diets and at home. We talk about the popular and delicious mushrooms to use in our kitchen, including ways to optimally use them, wash them, and simply cook them.Jeff then gracefully and truthfully opens the door to the "functional mushroom" world, where we get into some really interesting realities about the supplement industry. He candidly shares what he refers to as the "adulteration of these supplements," and I was a bit shocked to hear just how prevalent these sideways practices are! He gives us all the warnings and details on what to look for when looking for a quality mushroom/adaptogen supplement, goes over the testing methods, and more. We also chat about a couple of fun mushrooms like Reishi and Lion's Mane, where he gives us a nice breakdown of their primary uses and benefits.Jeff is a true industry leader, educator and MASTER when it comes to mushrooms, and his affection for them is highly palpable. He's an absolute wealth of information and he stands by the "food as medicine" approach to wellness. Whether you've journeyed through a cancer diagnosis or you know someone that has, this eye-opening episode is a must-listen for all. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with Holistic Nutritionist, 2nd Generation Master Pilates teacher, author, educator and international presenter, Katrina Foe, who's passionate focus is currently working as a Certified Metabolic Approach to Cancer Practitioner. After addressing her own cancer diagnosis 100% naturally, Katrina was driven to explore and expand on the way we look at health and the human body as a whole. Now also faculty at Restorative Wellness Solutions, Katrina is immersed in helping clients address their individual diagnoses, and educate them on not only why cancer was allowed to proliferate in the first place, but guide them in healing with less fear and more empowerment. We touch on SO much during this episode, as we discuss and summarize Katrina's ROOT CAUSE approach to cancer, and we chat about all of the necessary categories (terrains) she dives into. We talk about functional lab testing that is commonly missed among the mainstream medical model, we go over common misconceptions about the holistic cancer approach, we candidly discuss the disturbing realities of insurance and how people get stuck inside the system, and much more.Katrina's ultimate goal is to help guide those with cancer towards a comprehensive understanding of what is actually going on with their bodies, and how addressing their circumstance from the root will not only aid in healing, but give them the faith and confidence to walk out their lives with peace instead of fear of recurrence.PLEASE SHARE this episode with those you love if you find it helpful in any way!Free Book (actual book, not an e-book!): https://nutritionalpilates.com/Katrina's Website: https://designedforhealth.net/Katrina on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/katrinafoe/Katrina on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nutritional.pilatesThe Metabolic Approach to Cancer by Dr. Nasha Winters: https://a.co/d/5WqSyF4Fat For Fuel by Dr. Joseph Mercola: https://a.co/d/6D0HSpiShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I have the lovely opportunity to sit down with the creators of The Connection Codes, Dr. Glenn and Phyllis Hill. After 30 years of a troublesome and painful marriage, Dr. Glenn decided to go back for his Masters in Marriage and Family, along with a doctorate in Clinical Sexology. He was determined to figure out why his marriage was so hard to navigate, and learned through years of studying that we as humans are hardwired to experience connection through emotion, NOT logistics. Once he and Phyllis started putting the pieces together based on brain science, they realized that the key was not only uncovering the WHY behind disconnection, but figuring out the recipe for reconnection.Dr. Glenn and Phyllis very candidly share the intimate details of their past and what shifted for them right after their wedding (now 40 years ago), and we first chat a bunch about the common misconceptions regarding sexual and intimate connection that are still taking place in today's world. We talk about how and why so many marriages seem to be struggling, and how many feel that all hope is lost because nothing has "worked." They talk about how while sex is a very important part of connection in a relationship, it doesn't always mean that couples are emotionally connected, and how loneliness can still be extremely prevalent.Dr. Glenn and Phyllis share the premise behind The Connection Codes, and how they've humbly witnessed countless couples go from total despair to repair, and back to a place of emotional safety and contentment. Their tools are designed to be simple and tangible, so that exhausted couples can find themselves becoming UNSTUCK quicker than they think. The Connection Codes are all based off of the "human condition," as they teach us the language of how people are inherently designed to connect with one another in a relationship.Whether you're looking to improve your relationship, you're engaged to be married and want to level-up your emotional intelligence, or you're simply looking to become more skilled in general interpersonal communication, this episode will provide an open door. Dr. Glenn and Phyllis wholeheartedly believe that most people don't need better intentions, just better tools, and they give us a ton of beautiful insight during this eye-opening, honest, and inspiring discussion. The Connection Codes Foundations Course, use discount code VANESSA for 20% off: www.connectioncodes.co/foundationscourseFree Download of The Core Emotion Wheel: www.connectioncodes.co/intentionallywell The Connection Codes Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/connection-codes/id1613594520?i=The Connection Codes Book: https://a.co/d/5PpLF2UThe Connection Codes on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/connectioncodes/Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comSupport the showThis episode is for informational purposes only. In this episode, I eagerly sit down with Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, CPT, and master of all things minerals, Margaret Barry. Margaret's expertise in metabolic health, mineral balancing, and the body's fascial system is set apart from many, as she so passionately shares her knowledge regularly from her popular Instagram account @musclesandmotherhood, and works with clients one on one. During this discussion, she gives us a legit, easy-to-understand lesson on minerals and how they influence every system in our body. She helps us understand how to assess our "levels" and how minerals need to be looked at in ratio to each other, as well their synergistic relationship to the vitamin family. She provides examples of specific imbalance patterns that she commonly sees in her practice, and touches on several "mineral misconceptions." We talk about types of testing, and how testing is definitely not for diagnostic purposes, but simply a tool to help paint a picture of what's going on in our body.We also dive deep into the mineral dysregulation/stress connection, and how imbalances are still merely symptoms of a deeper-rooted mental/emotional issue. Margaret gives us a ton of information to digest in regards to the mind-body connection, and even gives us a beautiful breakdown on how stress/trauma, minerals, and fascia are all interconnected. She's so full of tips and supportive information, and at the end of the day, she wants us to remember that no body system works alone.Note: If interested in working with Margaret 1:1, the linktree link below is where you can find more information and contact her directly!Margaret on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_musclesandmotherhood/Margaret's Website: http://mb-fitness.com/ Margaret's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/_musclesandmotherhood Margaret's Class Offerings & eBook: https://mastertrainermargaret.square.site/ Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this highly educational episode, I sit down with trauma-informed somatic coach Mandy Flanders, and she serves up a huge dose of material to chew on regarding nervous system health. Mandy is an expert in nervous system regulation and co-regulation, with signature focuses on conscious parenting, attachment + parts work, somatic experiencing, the polyvagal theory, and more. She is super passionate about helping people and clients understand their unique patterns of "stuckness," to where they can then begin to unwind these inclinations and heal their bodies and their relationships.Mandy emphasizes the cruciality of the nervous system and its influence on our well-being, and does an amazing job of explaining how the system itself works. She shares about the common misconceptions people often have when it comes to nervous system regulation/dysregulation, so we can better understand our bodies from a biological perspective. She chats with me about how trauma and childhood can play a significant role in how we develop patterns, and also goes into how this heavily influences our close relationships and parenting styles. Due to the body's amazing adaptation strategies, Mandy explains that it can be very difficult to heal from anything with a chronically dysregulated nervous system, and she thankfully comes through with several tips to get us started. She shares her faith in the body's resiliency, and its ability to change and achieve autonomic flexibility given the right tools. She even shares her own experiences as proof, and wants us all to understand the truth: That healing is absolutely possible, and that there is always more to your story, even if you feel like you've tried "everything." This episode is the perfect follow-up to the last, because I gratefully sit down with Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Licensed Cosmetologist, Jessica Rose. In a day where nearly everyone is concerned about aging and their appearance, Jessica bridges the gap between health and beauty by helping people of all ages make better lifestyle choices. In this discussion, she not only educates us on how our overall toxic load can accelerate the aging process, but she gives us several alternative beauty methods to look into. While so many opt for quicker fixes and more conventional options, Jessica feels that it is entirely possible and much healthier to approach beauty in a holistic fashion. She feels that we should care about our outer appearance, but that authentic beauty starts from within and it really is an inside job.We chat about several of her current, favorite holistic beauty techniques and routines, how lymph drainage and proper hydration are imperative for graceful aging, and she even gives us her thoughts on some popular not-as-aggressive treatment options. We talk about her view on sunscreen usage, she gives us some really cool information on hair care, and she even goes into how mental and emotional health play a vital role in how we age. At the end of the day, Jessica wants us all to remember that aging is inevitably a part of LIVING, and while we should embrace the gift that it is, we can also implement holistic practices to help us not only look beautiful at any age, but feel that way too.Jessica Rose's Newsletter: https://www.jessicarosewellness.com/newsletter-sign-up Jessica Rose's Website: https://www.jessicarosewellness.com/Jessica Rose on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jessicarosewellness_/ Jessica Rose on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jessicarosewellnesssJessica Rose on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8AdX_Q1M3_SIYlLK4N98ZwJessica Rose on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/jessicarosewellness/Jessica Rose on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JSROSEWELLNESSMedia Appearances: https://www.jessicarosewellness.com/pressShow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comSupport the showThis episode is for informational purposes only. In this jam-packed episode, I have the pleasure of sitting down with Adam Marafioti, owner of the bioenergetic-focused supplement company, LifeBlud. This chat beautifully outlines all there is to know about the fascinating substance known as methylene blue, as Adam breaks down the mechanisms behind it in an easy-to-understand manner. This swiss-army-knife-type remedy is worth learning about no matter what you may be challenged with from a health standpoint.Adam also spends some time discussing how the current/mainstream paradigms regarding sickness and disease may be something to rethink. He gives a healthy dose of open-minded insight regarding the reasons behind the body's adaptations to stress, and explains how chronic exposure to environmental pollutants and everyday toxins can hinder healing. During this very candid episode, I sit down with seasoned registered nurse Morgan Hebb, who opens up about the harsh realities of standardized health care. Her years in a hospital setting and clinicals (NP degree in progress) have opened her eyes to the system's downfalls, and how quality care is truly hard to find. She explains that there are amazing people threaded throughout the system, but that the system itself is purposefully broken due to one main, overarching goal: PROFIT. She goes into detail about how insurance dictates the average patient experience, how overprescribing meds is a massive health crisis in itself, and how providers simply do not have the tools or the time to dedicate towards educating patients on preventative wellness.Morgan answers a few listener questions, gives us her opinion on what it takes to actually become your own health advocate, and even provides a few amazing resources on how to research providers that take on a more integrative, functional approach to medicine. While there is definitely a place for Western medicine, she very honestly reminds us that it is not in our best interest to be dependent on the system, and that optimal health and well-being cannot be outsourced. In this episode, I chat with holistic nutritionist Neenet Hairapetian, who specializes in helping women restore their metabolism, heal their gut, balance their hormones, all while heavily educating on the importance of a functional and balanced diet. Neenet is super passionate and enthusiastic about debunking wellness-y trends and other dietary habits, and she gets real about how many seemingly "healthy" routines are simply not sustainable for the majority of women long-term. In this discussion, we get into detail about the drawbacks of on-trend diets like veganism and keto, and how they can unfortunately wreck a woman's hormonal health status (especially during her childbearing years). We also talk about other narratives and "not-so-healthy" tips often discussed in wellness circles, as well as the importance of minerals and how the proper nutrients can really make or break metabolic function. Neenet provides a bunch of simple suggestions to implement in efforts to achieve more daily balance...which translates to a healthier, happier, less stressful life.Neenet on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pencilyourselfin/Neenet's online course: NOURISHED + FREE Method (link in her bio)Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comSupport the showThis episode is for informational purposes only. We talk about how the body's main focus is safety and how that is paramount for healing to occur, and she also gives valuable tips on how to speak to your own doctor if you're experiencing abnormal symptoms. She educates on how women should look to the menstrual cycle as a monthly metabolic report card, and validates how much of this information was never even touched upon in our younger years. In this amazing episode, I have an incredibly important conversation with Lena Le Huray, who has an exceptional amount of knowledge in the world of health and psychology. Lena's background and trying personal experiences led her to the discovery of her special interest in health psychology, and here she gives us a huge chunk of information on what it really means to age well. She goes into detail about subjective age, and explains that how we FEEL is actually more important than our chronological age. She also talks about important factors such as the concept of having "agency' over our lives, the critical component of building and maintaining muscle mass, as well as the social determinants that play a major role in how we age overtime. Aging well, as opposed to just living a "long life," is most likely everyone's concern, and this episode is wildly packed with information that can absolutely empower you. In this brief solo episode, I candidly share some of my thoughts surrounding the unhelpful comparison game we all commonly play from time to time. In today's modern and digital world, we are consistently lured in to viewing other people's filtered lives, and it's doing a number on our self-image, our nervous systems, and therefore our overall well-being. We are leaving the door open for chronic deception and distraction, and it's setting us back now more than ever. Here, I not only discuss how the comparison trap is a destructive web to get tangled up in, but I give a real-life example of how I've seen it play out in my own life, as well as thoughtful tips on how to minimize this behavior so you can stay present and grounded in your own.Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I have a beautiful and thought-provoking sit down with Michelle Piccione, founder and face behind Mushaboom Traditional Midwifery and Sovereign Birth. Serving families and mothers entirely outside of the allopathic medical system, she practices outside of the medicalized midwife community as well. This show is jam-packed with truths surrounding the differences between the types of midwifery and caretakers, as well as valuable information regarding the the physiological birthing experience. We chat about her own journey and what led her to this line of work, the potential fears surrounding home births, and she gives an abundance of advice to those who may want to explore this topic, or simply just gain knowledge on birthing options outside of a hospital setting. There is no right way to do things surrounding pregnancy and the birth process, and I believe today's show is a wonderful and gracious reminder that as a whole, we are not always aware of ALL of our options regarding big health decisions. I personally learned so much during this very candid, very honest conversation, and I am certain you will find this episode an informational and intriguing one.Michelle Piccione on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mushaboomyyc/Website: www.mushaboomyyc.comPDF resource on Interview Questions for Your Midwife: www.mushaboomyyc.com/single-post/resource-getting-clear-on-your-birth-vision-interviewing-your-birth-support Book recommendation: Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering by Sarah J. In this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of speaking with Jenn Merrick, who is currently a Functional Nutritional Therapy/Restorative Wellness Practitioner, as well as the owner of Jenn Merrick Wellness. Before diving into this side of root-cause health care, Jenn was practicing as a paramedical esthetician for 15 years, and worked with hundreds of people who were challenged with minor to severe skin issues. Her path changed however, after she realized that the health of the skin was definitely an inside job, and passionately sought out on a quest to educate herself further in order to help clients with their overall metabolic health. Jenn is full of knowledge and really highlights the fact that the conditions we face are just a symptom of a deeper imbalance, and that healing is absolutely possible. This show is full of wonderful reminders and easy-to-implement takeaways when it comes to skin health and improving the state of our metabolism from a foundational and cellular level.Jenn Merrick on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jennmerrickwellness/ Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comHelp Abused and Homeless Animals In Need CUDDLY helps give animals a healthy life and a loving home. In this episode, I sit down with Jared Ralsky, current NBA scout and certified Holistic Health Coach, to talk about "getting back to the fundamentals" when it comes to our health. We discuss many common (but not always thought of) speed bumps that hinder our health journeys, the effects of social media on our well-being, tips for purchasing real food in today's modern world, and MUCH more.Jared Ralsky on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.health.goat/Jared's free recipe e-book: https://subscribepage.io/2wEm1D Show Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/well.with.vanessa/Vanessa Lopez on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegiftofgoods/Vanessa's Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thegiftofgoodsEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comSupport the showThis episode is for informational purposes only. In this episode, I am joined by Vanessa Lopez who is a health research extraordinaire. Through her own health challenges, Vanessa immersed herself in health research to overcome a myriad of health conditions. By taking her health into her own hands, she was able to create an environment in which healing could take place. She now educates people on healthy lifestyle practices through her social media page @thegiftofgoods and empowers each and every one of us to advocate for our own health and to never give up.
On this episode we talk about what makes a real marriage/relationship work? We spend a lot of time looking for dresses and rings and venues, but not as much investing in therapy or classes that help communication. Why is that? I was one of those people who could drop 20k on my wife ring but complain when it came to the cost of therapy. I'm glad I've changed, and even more glad we could talk to our friends Mike and Vanessa who've been together for 15 yrs with no ring and no wedding, just commitment.
