I'd love to hear your thoughts, text the show.Welcome to The CallingWelcome, beauties. In this episode, we continue exploring the essence of healing and expand on the idea that healing is being and being is healing. As healers, guides, and light activators, our role extends beyond fixing and restoring, we are here to break limiting perceptions and expand consciousness.Today, I invite you to ask a profound question: If so many healers and light workers exist, why does the world not appear healthier? We will explore the unseen forces that shape our reality, the limitations we impose on ourselves, and the power of fully embracing our divine nature. This episode is a call to step beyond personal healing and into true transformation, for ourselves, for others, and for the world.Episode SummaryHealing is not just about solving problems or bringing things back to balance, it is about creating expansion. Yet many of us, as healers and light workers, unconsciously limit ourselves. We may hesitate to fully own our power, suppress our voices, or hold back our light. In this episode, I explore:The question of why so much healing work exists, yet the world still strugglesHow societal conditioning and self-imposed limitations prevent us from fully stepping into our roleThe power of faith and recognising ourselves as divine extensionsHow fear of power and responsibility holds us back from true impactThe importance of fully using our voice and embracing our role as creators and leadersThis is an invitation to reflect on what we are not seeing, what we are not doing, and how we can step beyond our personal healing work to create a greater shift in consciousness.Key TakeawaysHealing is not just about fixing - it is about expansion and transformation. Many healers unconsciously limit themselves due to fear, societal expectations, or doubt. To truly heal, we must embrace our divine nature and recognise ourselves as powerful creators. The world reflects our collective consciousness - by shifting our awareness, we influence global transformation. Our voice and presence are essential tools for healing - we must use them fully and without hesitation.True healing happens when our ability to receive divine wisdom matches our willingness to share it.Join the conversation in the comments: Share your reflections on how you embrace your divine power.Let's Continue This ExplorationIn what ways are you holding back your power, your voice, or your presence? How can you step beyond personal healing into a greater role of transformation?I invite you to reflect and share your insights in the comments. Let's expand this conversation together.Next Episode TeaserJoin me next time as we continue this journey of expansion, presence, and deep transformation.Until then, may you embrace your presence, your voice, and your divine power. What do we lose as a society when we only experience a person, a group of people, or an entire culture through their pain or losses—not their joys, successes, or humor?Alli Frank and Asha Youmans are multi-published authors, novelists, and former educators who use humor, joy, and compassion to write stories that encourage candid conversations about issues such as race, religion, culture, class, privilege, parenting, and education. Alli and Asha found "literary soulmates" in each other after working together as a teacher and a school administrator in Seattle, Washington. That's when they discovered their shared mission as educators and as authors.Alli, who is white and Jewish, and Asha, who is Black and Baptist, bring their very different cultural backgrounds and perspectives together to write in one seamless, cohesive voice, united in their belief that humor and fiction can inspire empathy and learning, and that exposure to diverse experiences can only enrich one's life. Their latest novel, The Better Half, was named an Entertainment Weekly Best Book of Summer, and an AARP Hot Summer Read in 2023. Liz's workshops and book are for people wrestling with the big questions of life. They may be on a healing journey already, or maybe they're feeling lost and yearning for something more. They might have anxiety or depression - or perhaps they're just thinking, “There's GOTTA be more to life.”Her core message is that our childhood coping mechanisms are not meant to be permanent.Liz wrote this book because it took her fifty-eight years to figure out most of her shit. And that's okay. She definitely doesn't have everything sorted out. But, Liz learned a few things that she wanted to share. Things that will help other people figure out their own stuff sooner. When Liz was six years old, her favorite aunt, Linda White, disappeared at the age of nineteen. As Liz's mother moved into the role of crisis management, she completely checked out of parenting. They moved into her grandparents' house, and Liz grew up in Linda's bedroom. They all endured five very long years of not knowing if she was even alive. And today, more than fifty years later, Linda's case remains unsolved. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: A tale from Liz's childhoodWhat Liz terms “Victimtown” and the places withinMartin's implementation of “fear-setting” as a CEOUse of our “heart-voice” to talk back and calm fearConversation techniques to destigmatize talking about mental healthTools to dealing with stressors and strugglesHow visiting “Victimtown” can be beneficialIdentify root causes to recognize and fix problemsSponsors for this episodeThis episode is sponsored by STS Capital Partners and Altruvest Charitable Services. In this episode….Liz Long is about to turn 60 and is in the beginning of her third career, where she feels she is finally meant to be. She started out in accounting with other entrepreneurial experiences over the years. Liz then moved to her second career of managing a team of agents in the residential industry. Now she is a mental health advocate by sharing her story through writing and publishing a book about her mental health journey.Liz shares an excerpt from her book Victimtown, an Unavoidable Destination, and the Gifts it Offers, prompting the overall discussion of what “Victimtown” is and the places within. Through this Liz, and Martin are able to hit on key tools CEOs can use to discuss and deal with mental health in both the workplace and personally. In this episode of What CEOs Talk About, host Martin Hunter and guest Liz Long discuss mental health and how, through her analogy of “Victimtown” talking about mental health in the workplace can be less daunting. Liz highlights how childhood development can greatly affect coping mechanisms and tools to deal with stressors. He remembers his mom crying herself to sleep at night. Seeing the devastation his dad left, he swore to never be like him. But in college, his worst fear came true. Sleeping around and using women, he realized: “I am just like my father.” Thankfully, his story didn't end there. In this episode, he shares:How he overcame his anger, lust, depression, despair, and self-hateThe hurt he felt from opening up to the wrong people about his strugglesHow he learned to have compassion for his father and even forgive himJoin Restored's communityShownotes

Leading Through the Left TurnsHow leadership is developed in the moments when life throws you a curveball you never asked for or expectedSHOW QUOTE:“Focusing on putting your strengths at the top of your game puts you in a position to be at your best every single day.  Then you allow yourself to shine in those moments. That's leadership.” — Greg KishGUEST BIO:Greg Kish oversees all ticket sales and service initiatives for SoFI Stadium, Home of the LA Rams and LA Chargers, and host of the Upcoming Super Bowl LVI. Prior to his efforts in helping bring the NFL back to Los Angeles, Greg worked with the 49ers to open Levi's Stadium and the Dallas Cowboys to open AT&T Stadium. But Greg's true legacy has become his position as a catalyst through his industry-leading coaching, leadership, and purpose-driving accomplishments.Learn more about Greg:LinkedInSoFI ProjectRams TwitterOPENING MONOLOGUE:Beyond all the trophies and accomplishments, Greg Kish's true legacy has become to serve and be a catalyst as an industry leading coach, leader, and purpose driver. And the number of lives he has impacted is absolutely extraordinary. And it's still climbing.CORE TOPICS + DETAILS:[12:06]Greg Kish's JourneyFrom childhood baseball to launching massive sports stadiumsGreg's childhood love of sports led him to a spot-on Team USA. But then an injury permanently sidelined his career, and he was faced with a choice— keep trying to push or make a left turn into something new. He adjusted his goals, and his life (and the world of pro sports) have become better for it.[16:34]Leadership vs. BossingHow Greg got thrown into the leadership deep end, and what he learnedAt a young age and very early in his career, Greg was thrown into a leadership role without any warning or experience. What he learned was that there are times where you have to sacrifice so that someone else can succeed, and there are times where you have to be the one taking the big shot in the clutch. Understanding that balance is one of the secrets to unlocking real leadership.[23:43]Double Down on Strengths or Correct Weaknesses? For Greg, the answer lies somewhere in-betweenIs it better to strengthen our strengths or improve our weaknesses? Greg Kish believes the answer lies somewhere in the middle. Our strengths drive us forward if we capitalize on them, putting us in positions to succeed. But along the way, we should always be looking for opportunities to improve our weaknesses and augment them with help from others who are strong where we are not.[26:55]The Power of VulnerabilityWhere there's self-awareness, there's strengthThere was a time where vulnerability was seen as a weakness. Now we understand it's really a superpower. It builds trust in others when we reveal our vulnerabilities, and when we're aware of our weaknesses we're better equipped to turn them into strengths.[40:55]‘Yes, If' vs. ‘No, Because'Unpacking Greg's mentality in personal and professional lifeInstead of responding to requests or ideas with ‘No, because…' reply with ‘Yes, if…' Then list the parameters that would allow you to say ‘yes.' This puts you in a positive mindset while also encouraging others to improve on their ideas and concepts.[41:28]Growth from StrugglesHow challenging times can transform us for the betterAs the pandemic and other struggles have affected our lives, how do we respond? In some ways, we may be able to use them to help ourselves grow. Greg discovered meditation, a passion for cooking, and the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and family. What will you discover if you allow yourself to grow?[58:31]Greg's ‘Why'How finding purpose has influenced Greg's lifeGreg highlights that the most significant impact of living and working with purpose is that it gives you greater insight into yourself. You understand why you make certain decisions, even bad ones, and why you put yourself in certain situations. Then you can move forward with confidence, because you know exactly why you do the things you do.RESOURCES:[00:28] Purpose Labs[04:17] LA Rams Website[04:18] LA Chargers Website[04:21]  Super Bowl LVI Info[05:36] SoFi Stadium[38:20] Rich Diviney & The Attributes[56:55] The Trillion Dollar Coach[1:07:35] Trust ModelMAKE A PLAY:How do you build trust in yourself and the people around you? This summer, I ran into a Pardon the Mess listener and asked her how I could support her parenting journey on this podcast. She said, “All of my friends talk about health and hormones every day. It's a real struggle.” I did not disagree. Maybe it's middle age or the fact that we have TONS of information overwhelming us on social media - but the topic of women's health is often overwhelming. For many years, I have run on empty and taking care of myself last. Anyone else relate to this approach? Today's conversation with Dr. Edie Wadsworth won't solve everything - but will hopefully encourage you as you navigate your health journey. I believe the health of us as parents greatly impacts how we show up with our kids. It's inevitable to feel exhausted as parents - but imagine if you didn't. I have never really understood insulin resistance until this conversation. My favorite part is at the end when she reminds ME and all of us - that our value isn't tied to our weight. I also love how she encouraged us all to not give up and keep taking small steps. In our chat we discuss:Dr. Edie's journey as a physician battling her own health strugglesHow can we understand our hormones as we ageWhat can we do to make some progress when we feel stuckHolistic and affordable ideas when we don't want another prescription Enjoy!Courtney(02:55) Family Dynamics and Life in Tennessee(05:51) Health Journey and Transition from Medicine(08:59) Understanding Perimenopause and Hormonal Changes(12:01) The Importance of Holistic Health Practices(14:57) Nutrition and Hormonal Balance(17:55) Building Muscle and Managing Insulin Resistance(21:05) Creating Health vs. Managing Sickness(24:10) Understanding Menopause and Perimenopause(26:04) The Power of Self-Advocacy in Health(29:54) Navigating Hormonal Health and Finding the Right Doctor(31:42) The Role of Supplements and Hormone Replacement Therapy(33:53) Addressing Joint Health and Insulin Resistance(36:50) Overcoming Overwhelm and Building Healthy Habits(41:31) Resources for Health and Wellness(45:48) Embracing Worth Beyond WeightConnect with Pardon The Mess:Christian ParentingPardon The Mess Courtney DeFeoGet your 2024-2025 prayer journal, A Life of FaithResources from today's show:Connect with EdieEdie's PodcastLife Mentoring SchoolConversation with Ruth Soukup about weight lossThe Body Keeps ScoreYoung Living Why We Get SickThe Obesity CodePardon The Mess is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network.
