Today's is going to be the 1st of a 12-week series on the Prosperity Pillars. These are the 12 Principles for Success that I created from my experience with different thought leaders, experts, and individuals in the field of personal development and financial education. My goal with this particular series is to help create a foundation for you in your life, and when applied, will support you in all your endeavors. Jim Rohn, one of the fathers of personal development and one of my mentors, said “We all have two choices. We can make a living, or we can design a life." We Can Make a Living or Design Our Lives How powerful is that? I'll repeat it. We all have two choices. We can make a living, or we can design of life. How many of us are just going through life on a day-to-day basis, living our life, making a living, doing all these things... without consciously designing or creating your life? That's why I've created Principle number 1: I Create My Life. Which one are you doing? Think about that for a minute. Are you just making a living, getting by? Or are you designing and creating the life that you were meant to live? Because, let's be honest, your focus will determine the results that you're going to get. Are You Consciously Creating Your Life? Do you ever wake up after weeks and weeks of work and just think, "Man, where did the time go by?" The principle around success that is one of the most recognized throughout time is the principal (or let's call it the Secret) that my partner Robert talks about a lot… Your thoughts create your life. And if your thoughts create your life, you have to be asking yourself how you are consciously you're directing those thoughts. If you're consciously designing a life, then you'll have thoughts that take you towards creating your life. You have to remember that your thoughts will create feelings. Your feelings will result in your actions. Those actions create experiences which will reinforce beliefs that you have in your life. So, you have to be conscious of your thoughts every single day. Every. Single. Day. Create your life now…Don't Wait! CAUTION: Make no mistake, whether you're consciously creating your life or you're just living your life, something's being created. I prefer to have a conscious effort creating my life and I think you do too. Here are some Steps For “Creating Your Life” 1-First of all, you have to believe you can do it. Now a mentor of mine, Les Brown, says, "Greatness is within you." Every one of us has the power and the greatness inside of us to create the life that we were meant to live. We have the ability to do this. You have to BELIEVE that. If you have trouble with that belief right now, you can do a lot of different things to change that. We'll talk about those in a minute. But first and foremost, you have to believe that you can do it. 2-Second, you have to create daily activities which will empower you towards designing and creating your life. For example: daily rituals motivation inspiration meditation affirmation activities learning growing Anything that you can do that will continue to keep your focus on creating your life through your daily activities. These will all ultimately help you create daily habits for success. This will help you to be able to create the life you're meant to live. Remember, energy is key. You have to be able to create some energy TOO. You can do that through physical exercise and creating a state of mental awareness that will give you the energy you need. So once again ... first you have to believe you can do it, and second you have to create daily activities that will help you design your life. Affirmations are a Success Practice One of the things you could do daily, for example, is to repeat daily affirmations. One of the reasons I have the prosperity pillars poster is that you can repeat time and time again these affirmations for success. Go ahead and say today Principle to yourself ... just say it out loud, "I create my life. I create my life!" It's empowering to be able to make these statements, these affirmations, these powerful statements. Let your mind soak them in and begin to start focusing on what's really important. Set Some Goals I'd like you to set some goals. Because here's the thing ... if you don't have goals of where you'd like your life to be…then chances are you're not going to end up where you want it to be? As you grow up people ask you “what you want to be when you grow up.” Then as you go through school, you ask yourself, "What so I want to do? What major do I need to have what kind of job I want?" I really think all of this line of questioning is wrong…!! Robert Stuberg, a long time ago, told me, "It's about your thoughts as much as the quality of the questions you ask yourself that create your thoughts." So don't ask yourself what you'd like to do or what your goals are. A better question is to Ask yourself what you want your life to be like? What do you want your life to be like? If you're going to start creating a life and design in a life don't begin with what you want to do for a living, or what you want to have for material things, or for relationships. Ask yourself what you want your life to be like. What emotions do you want to have? What type of lifestyle do you want to have? Who is it you want to have in your life? What type of empowering thoughts, memories, and actions do you want to have now? I personally believe that if you were to consciously create memories on-going, then you're going to be creating a life of fulfillment, happiness, and success. In Closing… I'd like to leave you with a particular strategy for you to try today. I want you to think back about some of the things that made you the happiest and the most fulfilled. Consciously set a goal for yourself to create a new memory. Create a memory that you feel like you can put inside you, in a repertoire of memories that you've had throughout your life. Use that as a way to motivate yourself to consciously create your life. I really believe that if you'll do this, if you make the effort to create your life, you'll be far more successful you'll ever be. Far happier and you'll be more fulfilled as well. I believe it's never too late for you to begin living the life you were meant to live.

Stop Asian Hate: Together, We Can Make a Difference: https://www.gofundme.com/c/act/stop-aapi-hateThere is so much we could talk about after our news break of the past month, but the most important news was the racist tirade by Matthias Matuschik of Bayern3, and the total lack of accountability and unacceptable, insincere apology. Sadly, his racist comments reflect a larger ongoing issue that has been made worse by the emergence of COVID-19. Robert Strock – Awareness That Heals – Cultivating the Internal Resources For External ChallengesAired Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM ESTInterview with Psychologist and Educator Robert Strock, Author of “Awareness That Heals”“We all have the wherewithal for change. Having the aware-with-all is the all-important first step.” — Swami BeyondanandaOne of my favorite cartoons of all time is a two-panel piece that I first saw in a psychotherapist’s waiting room. In the first panel, a boy being swept under in a raging river calls out to his dog, “Lassie, get help!”In the second panel we see Lassie on a psychiatrist’s couch. We are living in the “self-help” generation, and yet so much of this self-help comes from outside ourselves. Well, what if we actually DID develop the inner resources to be truly helpful to ourselves? What if we able to find and cultivate an inner voice that is wise and loving, gentle yet firm, that speaks softly yet with authority? And what if this voice can provide comfort and wisdom, not just for our internal crises, but in dealing with the external ones as well? Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week Robert Strock, a psychotherapist in practice for half a century, developed what he calls “awareness that heals” while dealing with a dire personal crisis. 25 years ago, a hereditary condition required him undergo a kidney transplant. The medications he had to take to prevent the new organ from being rejected by his system created a chemical and emotional imbalance that left him alienated from his own emotions and own self. “It was as though I had a ‘heart-ectomy’. I felt as if my heart had been taken away.”In response to his crisis, he was able to find an inner guide that allowed him to accept his feelings and hear the messages clearly from the intuitive intelligence of his own heart. (Or as Chris Padgett put it in his book of the same name, “I’m not okay, you’re not okay … but it’s okay!”) By cultivating what he terms “the friendly mind”, Robert Strock saw his way through his own crisis, and found similar heartening results with his therapy clients.Robert Strock, L.M.F.T. has been in private practice for nearly 50 years, and is the originator of “Humanistic Spirituality”, a way to access “invisible” resources without the burden of religious dogma. He has co-f0unded the Global Bridge Foundation whose purpose is to “contribute to the creation of a more compassionate, just, and peaceful world that honors the dignity of all beings.” He is also the originator or “Psycho-Economics” (not to be confused with the “psycho economics” that seems to have been in charge of our system for the past two generations) and more recently “Psycho-Politics”, both of which help us use our inner resources to face and transform global challenges. If you’re ready to discover and cultivate an inner resource you probably didn’t know you had, please tune in this Tuesday, January 28th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Robert Strock and Awareness That Heals, please go here. https://www.awarenessthatheals.org/And now that we ARE back with new shows (and planning a Zoom video element after the first of the year), we invite you to help support Wiki Politiki and our mission to bring about “the great upwising” and functional politics! As we move into a new decade, Justin & Gurdip look back at the 2010s and many of the music and movie releases Elvis fans got over the past 10 years. There are some excellent sidebar conversations as well, including a rant about Elvis conspiracy theorists, a mini-discussion on the 1988 film "Heartbreak Hotel," and a debate as to whether FTD should start releasing content digitally. Then, for Song of the Week, Gurdip cranks that volume on the doo-wop classic "Soldier Boy" while Justin swears the underrated "We Can Make the Morning" is a power ballad in disguise.
Judah Freed – Making Global Sense – A New “Common Sense” For the People of the WorldAired Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM ESTInterview with Journalist and Activist Judah Freed, Author of “Making Global Sense”“Imagine … we the people of the world coming to a commonly-sensed, uncommonly sensible consensus – we would rather live by the Golden Rule than die by the rule of gold.” — Swami BeyondanandaWhat would happen if a billion people worldwide took a stand in recognition that we humans are indeed cells in a larger super-organism called Humanity, and then began to live their lives as if that were true? Our Wiki Politiki guest two weeks ago, Stephan Schwartz – a lifelong student of social change movements (How to Change History BEFORE it Happens https://wikipolitiki.com/how-to-change-history-before-it-happens) — asserts that when 10% of any population has agreement around an idea, adoption of that idea becomes inevitable. And while it seems like gathering one billion people under “one big intent” is virtually impossible, it is actually VIRTUALLY more possible than ever before. We now have the technological ability to connect billions of people on the Internet at one time … and now if we cultivate the spiritual, psychological and political coherence, we may be able to achieve something that cellular biologist Bruce Lipton says is necessary for survival at this point – conscious evolution. Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week is Judah Freed, whose forthcoming book, Making Global Sense, reports on a dozen world social trends that prove more than a billion people on earth — acting alone and together, spiritually and politically — are forming the “global sense movement,” already gathering momentum for a quantum shift in human consciousness that transforms all life on our planet. He also is updating his prior book, Global Sense, inspired by Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, which revives the ideas and ideals of the 18th century Enlightenment to champion 21st century enlightenment. His earlier editions of Global Sense won the 2005 Colorado CIPA award for the Best Personal Growth Book along with 2007 and 2012 Nautilus Awards for the Best Social Change Book.An award-winning author and international journalist, speaker, and activist, Judah pioneered trade press coverage of new media, digital television and the Internet. His groundbreaking essays on network democracy and the social effect of interactivity itself drew invitations to speak on four continents. He currently works as Director of Publishing for RIP Medical Debt, the New York-based charity that’s abolished $1 billion in unpayable medical bills. Judah is a member of the Authors Guild, American Association of Journalists and Authors (First Amendment committee), Society of Professional Journalists, National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Independent Book Publishers Association, and the Coalition of Visionary Resources (COVR), the trade association for the Mind Body Spirit industry. At a time when “news” (not really “news”, more like “olds”) is all about division, and groups of humans “at odds” bent on “getting even”, Judah points to unmistakable and heartening “signs of the upwising.”If you’re ready to be encouraged and inspired, please tune in this Tuesday, January 7 at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Judah Freed and Making Global Sense, please go here. https://hokuhouse.com/making-global-sense/ And now that we ARE back with new shows (and planning a Zoom video element after the first of the year), we invite you to help support Wiki Politiki and our mission to bring about “the great upwising” and functional politics! Michael Dowd – Post-Doom: Confronting Climate Chaos, Beyond Denial and DespairAired Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM ESTInterview with Michael Dowd, Eco-Theologian and Author of “Thank God For Evolution”“The most dangerous predator on Earth, “Humanisaurus Wrecks” is on the brink of extinction.” — Swami BeyondanandaSometimes I think we have created the political polarization and paralysis, the toxic culture wars, the fixations on “the pedophile elite”, and the arguments about how many sexes there are, so that we can distract ourselves from the elephant and donkey in the living room – what scientists are calling the Sixth Great Extinction. The foreboding symptoms include climate chaos that seems to be spiraling out of control, dying oceans, societal unrest, and species loss. And at the top of the endangered species list, whether we accept it or not, is our own species. And yet we want to imagine that life will go on “as usual.”Meanwhile, the two sides have retreated to their respective corners and are indulging in the two drugs more popular – and dangerous – than the opioids: Hopium and Deniatol. We have one force strung out on hopium – hoping that technology will save us, and another addicted to Deniatol, denying any problem exists. And many of those who have been addressing the issue for decades have all but given up.My guest this week on Wiki Politiki, Michael Dowd offers a way through and past the denial and despair with a powerful re-frame he calls Post Doom. Writes Michael:Doom is the mid-point between denial and regeneration…with or without us.Post-doom is what opens up when we remember who we are, accept what is inevitable, honor our grief, and invest in what is pro-future and soul-nourishing.A post-doom heart and mindset means living, loving, and relating honorably with full awareness that…• There are dimensions of abrupt climate change beyond human control.• Our ecological predicament encompasses all aspects of life.• Climate is not our biggest problem; overshoot is (climate chaos is but a symptom).• Human-centered measures of progress and wellbeing are ecocidal and self-terminating.• Human-centered technology and the market are false gods, creating hell on Earth.• The extinction of Homo colossus (rapacious industrial humanity) is both inevitable and necessary.• The extinction of Homo sapiens this century or next cannot be ruled out.Rev. Michael Dowd is a bestselling author, eco-theologian, sustainability activist, and TEDx speaker whose book, Thank God for Evolution, was endorsed by 6 Nobel Prize-winning scientists, noted skeptics, and by religious leaders across the spectrum.Michael and his science writer, evolutionary educator, and eco-centric activist wife, Connie Barlow, have spoken to some 2,700 groups throughout North America since 2002. Their work provides audiences with applications of evolutionary and ecological wisdom that break through the confusions of these rapidly shifting times. Michael’s passion and legacy work is most fully expressed in his recent sermons, his 2019 video discussion course, “Pro-Future Faith: The Prodigal Species Comes Home”, and new podcast: “Post-doom: conversations exploring overshoot grief, grounding, and gratitude”.If you’re ready to move past despair, denial and false hope, please tune in this Tuesday, December 24th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Rev. Jerry Ashton – Ending Medical Debt – And Creating A Healthy, Caring Health Care SystemAired Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM EST Interview with RIP Medical Debt Co-Founder Jerry Ashton, Co-Author of “End Medical Debt”“It’s becoming all too common nowadays to thank a surgeon by saying, ‘I shall forever be indebted to you.’” — Swami BeyondanandaAs a professional comedian, it’s my job to “pump ironies” so here is an irony supplement to munch on: Americans spent $3.65 trillion on healthcare in 2018, according to a report from Axios. The amount is larger than the GDPs of such countries as Brazil, the U.K., Mexico, Spain, and Canada. And yet, we rank 27th in the world in health. In a study of 11 countries, the U.S. ranked LAST for health outcomes, equity and quality, despite having the highest per capita health earnings. The U.S. also had the highest rate of mortality amenable to healthcare, meaning more Americans die from poor care quality than any other country involved in the study. And, it gets worse. Not only does our health care outcome fall far short of health industry income, but the fundamental inequity – and iniquity – of the current system has created another life-threatening metastasis in our body politic: $1 trillion in unpayable medical debt in America. Medical debt causes hardships for individuals, families, communities, and the nation as a whole. Our guest this week, Jerry Ashton, along with his End Medical Debt co-authors Robert Goff and Craig Antico created a charity, RIP Medical Debt, the charity made famous by John Oliver on HBO for abolishing $15 million in medical debt. Since 2014, RIP has purchased and forgiven more than $750 million on medical debt. The charity recently reached the milestone of abolishing $1 billion in medical debt.Jerry Ashton has more than 40 years of experience in the credit and collections industry. In 1995, to uplift the way debtors are treated, he formed CFO Advisors in New York. His teams serviced a half billion in receivables for Fortune 500 companies. Inspired by Occupy Wall Street’s debt forgiveness campaign, he joined with Craig Antico to found RIP Medical Debt. Jerry serves as RIP’s Director of Education and Outreach. In our conversation today, we will look at the inner workings of our “too big to fail, too broken to succeed” health care system. Since the three authors of the book have three divergent political perspectives, we will have a chance to discuss what happens when diverse viewpoints converge and converse on one issue. The authors disagree on the solutions, but they all agree on their one simple act of charity — buying and forgiving medical debt.If you’re interested in how we arrived at our current “faith-based” health care system (“pray you don’t get sick”) and ways we can create a system that works for each and all, please tune in this Tuesday, December 17rd at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about End Medical Debt, please go here. https://hokuhouse.com/endmedicaldebt/And now that we ARE back with new shows (and planning a Zoom video element after the first of the year), we invite you to help support Wiki Politiki and our mission to bring about “the great upwising” and functional politics! There is a better way. I say let’s toilet change the world and we’ll never have to change it again.” — Swami BeyondanandaWhen sane and reverent people look at our current political, ecological “shituation”, it is understandable if they ask, “Is this the hand of God at work – or just the Middle Finger”?Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week, Stephan A. He writes:When I began Schwartz report my purpose was to produce an entirely fact-based daily publication in favor of the earth, the inter-connectedness and interdependence of all life, democracy, equality for all, liberty and things that are life affirming. Also, to warn my readers about actions, events, and trends which threaten those values. Our country now stands at a crossroads, indeed, the world stands at a crossroads where those values are very much at risk and it is up to each of us who care about wellbeing to do what we can to defend those principles.Join us for an eye-opening, mind-expanding, heartful conversation that takes us beyond the “deep state” to a deeper state of awareness, and offers a simple and practical pathway for changing the future through our actions now. Along the way we will discuss the surprising secret behind Gandhi’s campaign for Indian independence, a first-hand view of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, and adventures in the world of remote viewing. (No, that’s not how psychics find their remote when it is buried in the couch pillows.)Seriously and humorously, this conversation will guide us beyond “baked-in” beliefs toward the “life-affirming integrity” that will help us evolve from children of God to adults of good – and get us through our awkward “addled-essence” phase.Listen in this Tuesday, November 26th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Stephan Schwartz and the Schwartz Report, please go here: https://www.schwartzreport.net/And now that we ARE back with new shows (and planning a Zoom video element after the first of the year), we invite you to help support Wiki Politiki and our mission to bring about “the great upwising” and functional politics! Rob Kall – Signs of the Upwising – The Bottom Up RevolutionAired Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM ESTInterview with journalist, inventor Rob Kall, author of “The Bottom-up Revolution: Mastering the Emerging World of Connectivity”“The antidote to fake news that separates us to create real news that brings us together.” — Swami BeyondanandaAfter a two-month tour of the USA taking the pulse of the body politic (good news – we still have one), we are back with Wiki Politiki Radio more committed than ever to an “evolutionary upwising” to put love and wisdom in the driver’s seat as we collectively participate in the greatest reality show of all time – REALITY!Those of us who recognize the patterns of evolution see that change is not imposed from the top down, but emerges from the bottom up. When we consider the “surprise” movements of the last decade – the Tea Party and Occupy, and even the Trump and Bernie Sanders campaigns, as well as the Yellow Vest movement in France – we see that when individuals coalesce voluntarily and spontaneously, history can be changed. Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week, Rob Kall, has been studying this phenomenon for years, and his new book, The Bottom-up Revolution; Mastering the Emerging World of Connectivity, offers interviews with innovators from all fields to show convincingly that this is how change DOES take place. More importantly, he offers pathways for cultivating this bottom-up approach and in the process offers a prescription for “overgrowing” our current dysfunctional systems.Rob Kall is an award-winning journalist, inventor, software architect, connector and visionary. Articles by and about him have been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, ABC, The Huffington Post, Success, Discover and other media. He’s given talks and workshops to Fortune 500 execs and national medical and psychological organizations, and pioneered first-of-their-kind conferences in Positive Psychology, Brain Science, and Story. He hosts some of the world’s smartest, most interesting and powerful people on his Bottom up Radio Show. Rob founded and publishes one of the top Google- ranked progressive news and opinion sites, OpEdNews.com.If you’re ready to be encouraged by what you are NOT reading in mainstream news, and finding ways to weave your own love, interests and mission into this movement of awakened awareness and functional activity, please join us this Tuesday, November 19th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Rob Kall, OpEd News and “The Bottom Up Revolution”, please go here: https://robkall.com/index.phpAnd now that we ARE back with new shows (and planning a Zoom video element after the first of the year), we invite you to help support Wiki Politiki and our mission to bring about “the great upwising” and functional politics! We are excited to share the first episode of our new series - We Can Make it Better! Our first guest is Breht Oshea the host of the amazing Revolutionary Left Radio podcast. Breht is the reason why Gord and I started this podcast. Breht's voice and amazing ability to help others understand our past historical injustices is why Gord and I wanted Breht to be the guest to voice the first episode of our anti-apocalyptic show. Luckily, Breht, as a parent of two children felt a connection to our series. Our goal is to make it easier to imagine the end of Capitalism than the end of the world. Gord, Breht, and I are extremely proud of this episode. Listen and Enjoy! And please show your solidarity by letting us know what you think about this episode. Solidarity! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Little Red School House focuses on issues with our current education system and ways we can empower students, educators, and anyone who cares about education. Shouldn’t people be put before profits? Shouldn’t our children be educated to grow and learn instead of being treated like the means to the financial gain of those in power? If you agree with this so-called “radical” and “revolutionary” perspective, you’ve come to the right place! Join educators Gord Milstone and John Battalion as they call out systemic problems and discuss how we can break down barriers in the educational system. Engage with us on social media at @LRedSchoolHouse on twitter. You can also find us on Patreon at patreon.com/LittleRedSchoolHouse. Please rate and review Little Red School House on iTunes too. Victor Tiffany – Bernie Or Bust: Will Berniecrats “Bust” the DNC?Aired Tuesday, 3 September 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with activist Victor Tiffany, author of “Bernie Or Bust: Pioneers of Electoral Revolt”“On class warfare: The war on poverty is over. The poor people all have surrendered.” — Swami BeyondanandaIn the wake of Hillary’s DOA campaign for President in 2016, there were two conflicting “autopsy” reports. Those who supported Bernie maintain that Hillary was such a turn off that many disgusted young voters stayed home, voted for Jill Stein, or even switched teams to vote for Trump. (Yes, I do know some who voted for Bernie in the primaries, Trump in the general election.)Then there are the Hillary supporters who are enraged at those who failed to rally behind Hillary, laying the atrocities of the Trump regime squarely at the feet of the “Bernie or bust” crowd.Maybe instead of asking, “Who’s right?” we might want to ask, “What’s wrong?”Berniecrats maintain that the 2016 election was a forum on the status q uo, and Hillary and neoliberalism represented the status quo that put 40% of Americans one paycheck away from financial disaster, and put the middle class on the endangered species list. These people maintain that Bernie could have and would have won in 2016, because he offered a welcome change. He stood for something, and he actually activated a movement. He represented those of us who were fed up with the corporatocracy and oligarchy. And now, as we get ready for the 2020 primaries … the Bernie or Bust folks are out in full force. Our guest this week, Victor Tiffany, who calls himself a political revolutionary literally wrote the book on Bernie or bust … in fact the book is called “Bernie Or Bust: Pioneers of Electoral Revolt” and lays out what he calls IRIS (Independent Revolutionary Integrated Strategy) that explains why some key groups of voters would vote for Bernie, but not recycled Hillary, like Biden – or even Elizabeth Warren (who incidentally endorsed Hillary during the 2016 primaries).Victor has an MA in the Social Sciences from Binghamton University, was active in the nuclear freeze campaign in the 1980s, and after the Citizens United v FEC decision he became active in the movement to amend the Constitution to overturn that and all related decisions. He became senior columnist for the Amendment Gazette, and wrote for the Syracuse (NY) Progressive Examiner. While studying the illegitimate Supreme Court decisions that granted the rights of individuals to associations and established the doctrine that money spent on electioneering is protected by the First Amendment, he became aware of how far from the Framers’ vision the United States has become. He resides in Danby, NY.While most Democrats I talk to – and even some Republicans –say the most important goal of the 202o election is to remove Trump and Trumpism from office, Victor maintains that electing Bernie is more important than stopping Trump.Whether you agree or disagree, or whether you’re agnostic on the topic, this will surely be a lively and enlightening conversation this Tuesday, September 3rd at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Victor Tiffany and Bernie or Bust, please go here: https://citizensagainstplutocracy.orgOne more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Josh Fox – The Truth Has ChangedAired Tuesday, 27 August 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTA Front-Lines Account of the “War On the Truth”Interview with Josh Fox, the Oscar-Nominated and Emmy-Winning filmmaker behind GASLAND“Up against the wall, mother-frackers!” — Swami BeyondanandaIf you’ve heard or used the word “fracking” in recent months or years, you have filmmaker Josh Fox to thank. His award-winning film Gasland (2010) exposed the “gaslighting” by the fossil fuel companies in their attempt to sell “fracking” — defined as “the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, boreholes, etc. so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas.”Fox’s claims that fracking polluted ground water and caused earthquakes made him the target of a $100 million smear campaign on the part of the gas industry. Writes Josh, “This campaign of misinformation and slander was run by people we have heard quite a bit about in recent times: Steve Bannon, Andrew Breitbart, James O’Keefe and others.”And what Steve Bannon and company did to Josh from 2010-2015, he did to the whole American electorate in 2016. Josh Fox was the beta test for the types of propaganda and smear the gang that created Cambridge Analytica is now known for worldwide. And Josh is telling his story in an uncompromising way like never before through a new film “The Truth Has Changed.”Unlike most documentaries, “The Truth Has Changed” is the film version of a live performance by Josh relating how his personal story intertwines with America since 9/11. And, he and his team have created a crowd-funding campaign to support grassroots screenings and rallies to educate the public not just about fracking, but about the lengths the fossil fuel industry and their “fiends in high places” will go to destroy both the free press and democracy.Josh Fox is best known as the Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning writer/director of GASLAND, Parts I and II. Earlier this year he was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a great honor for any filmmaker. He is internationally recognized as a spokesperson and leader on the issue of fracking and extreme energy development. His film How to Let Go of the World and Love All the Things Climate Can’t Change premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016, won the Environmental Advocacy Award at the Washington DC Environmental Film Festival, and was released on HBO. As the Founder and Artistic Director of International WOW Company, Fox has established himself as a significant force in New York theatre. His work for the stage includes Surrender, an interactive war epic that was nominated for a 2009 Drama Desk Award and AUTO DA FE. The performance premiered in New York and toured to Japan in 2011.Please join us for a first hand account of the “real story behind fake news” and help Josh spread the word and fund his campaign! Michael LeVesque – 5G – Towering Health Crisis Or Nothing Burger?Time to “Clear the Air”Aired Tuesday, 20 August 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Health Activist and EMF Expert Michael LeVesque“Some people say fasting is good for our health, but I say everything is already too fast. So I recommend slowing instead.” — Swami BeyondanandaReady or not, 5G is here.5G stands for “fifth generation cellular technology” which promises to deliver data rates that are 10 to 100 times faster than current 4G. Not only does this mean much faster download rates, but 5G will also enable new technologies like self-driving cars and augmented reality. Mobile devices will be able to send and receive information in less than one-thousandth of a second, appearing instantaneous to the user.Wow. Faster internet, faster downloads on our smart phones … Fast, fast, fast.Well … not so fast, say some concerned citizens and scientists. As with cell phones, the radiation from this 5G technology is being linked to higher cancer rates. The cell phone providers and mainstream media insist all is safe, and there is no problem. Are they correct? Or is this just another issue where those with much to gain are railroading an untested technology? Our guest this week Michael LeVesque, is a long-time health advocate, who opened his first health food store in Cortez, Colorado nearly fifty years ago. In 1982, he opened Vitamin Express, running five stores for 36 years. He is the author of the best-selling “BIG Vitamin Dictionary,” and has spent the past several years studying wireless technology and the “human voltage system”. Michael is a self-taught expert on EMF (electromagnetic field) radiation and their impact on the human body, and is the owner of Ray Guard Protect, a device to protect against EMF exposure. So … is the cause for concern regarding 5G for real? Or is it just a bunch of conspiracy theorist, anti-science alarmists raining on the parade? Or something somewhere in between? If you’ve been hearing about 5G, and want to “clear the air” please tune in this Tuesday, August 20th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Michael LeVesque and Ray Guard, please go here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/rayguard-health-future-michael-levesque/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Karen and Henry Kimsey-House – Co-Active Leadership: Activating the Leadership of All for the Benefit of AllAired Tuesday, 6 August 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Karen and Henry Kimsey-House, Co-Founders of Co-Active Leadership and Co-Active Coaching“It’s time for we the people to follow our hearts and lead our leaders.” — Swami BeyondanandaFor most of us when we think of “leadership” – unless we identify as a “leader” – generally think of somebody else out there. And now at a time when dissatisfaction with our “leaders” is at an all-time high, we might consider that leadership must now evolve to activating many different varieties of leadership talents. Our guests on Wiki Politiki this week, Karen and Henry Kimsey-House, have spent the past three decades coaching and teaching leadership that “harnesses the possibility of many rather than relying on the power of one.”They write:“Top-down, one-dimensional leadership models are hopelessly outmoded in today’s rapidly changing world, and they waste the leadership ability that is present throughout an organization. This revolutionary five-dimensional approach recognizes that leadership has to be fluid and flexible and that the roles leaders and followers play must shift to suit the situation. Co-Active Leadership invites all of us to share our expertise and allows collaborative solutions to emerge that would never have been possible otherwise.”One of the first professional coaches in the 1980s and the co-founder and lead designer of Co-Active Training Institute’s provocative, experiential learning programs, Henry Kimsey-House is also the co-author of Co-Active Coaching and Co-Active Leadership. An actor since age 9, Henry honed his insights into human emotion and the narrative process through classical theatrical training and years of stage, television, and film experience. With deep conviction that education should be driven by immersive, contextually based learning and not dry information dumps, Henry is committed to creating richly engaging and transformative learning environments where retention approaches 80% rather than the traditional 20%.One of the earliest recognized luminaries in the coaching profession, Karen Kimsey-House co-founded Co-Active Training Institute in 1992 with Laura Whitworth and her future husband, Henry. Together, they co-created the Co-Active philosophy of relationship that informs CTI’s world-renowned coaching and leadership programs. Karen is also the co-author of Co-Active Coaching and Co-Active Leadership. A successful entrepreneur, Karen founded and directed the Learning Annex San Francisco adult education program in 1986 and grew it into one of the most admired programs under the national Learning Annex brand. If you’re curious about how new forms of collaboration using diverse leadership styles can impact the world at large and the world “at small”, please tune in this Tuesday, August 6th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Henry and Karen Kimsey-House and download a chapter of their Co-Leadership book, please go to: https://learn.coactive.com/co-active-leadership-5-ways-to-leadOne more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Stephanie James – Contribution and Consciousness: How to Change Our Inner World So We Can Change the Outer OneAired Tuesday, 30 July 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Stephanie James, Author, Psychotherapist and Host of “The Spark” Radio Show and Podcast“The best way to deal with the human condition is to recondition our inhuman conditioning.” — Swami BeyondanandaTo many Americans, the 2016 election was a traumatic event. The first gathering I attended that November was at a church in San Jose, where Mexican Americans expressed fearful concern about the disruption in their community, and the potential danger of being singled out and marginalized. Others – people of color, the LGBT community, women, those concerned about climate change – have seen some of their worst fears realized over the past two years. Beginning with the women’s march in January 2017, large numbers of people have been mobilized against Trumpism – and yet, there is still a feeling of powerlessness and despair.Although resisting Trump seems “irresistible”, the pushing against seems to make him bigger and more powerful, as he and his ilk feed upon even the most negative publicity. The question is, how do we turn this rightful concern into generative action TOWARDS the future we want, and not just away from what we don’t want? How do we make a positive, healthy, helpful contribution to our world in these times of crisis, danger, and chaos? Our guest this week Stephanie James, a therapist who has helped countless individuals heal from their personal trauma, has some exciting ideas for how we can continue to heal our personal issues … AND … use those insights and practices to shift “powerless and reactive” to “powerful and proactive”. Ellen Brown – Banks For People Is NOT An Oxymoron!Aired Tuesday, 23 July 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTShifting Financial Power From Wall Street to Main StreetInterview with Ellen Brown, Author of “Banking On the People: Democratizing Money In the Digital Age”“I don’t know about you, but I am nostalgic for the good old days, when PEOPLE robbed BANKS.” — Swami BeyondanandaEconomics, and particularly the banking industry and monetary policy seems to be a mysterious black box to most people – our guest this week, Ellen Brown, characterizes it as a “sausage factory.” She is obviously referring to the quote attributed to Otto von Bismarck: “Laws are like sausages. You should never see them made.”In other words, if we actually understood how and why banks do what they do, and how monetary policy is made – we’d never “swallow it”. Ellen Brown, author of the classic “Web of Debt,” a follow up book, “The Public Bank Solution”, and her latest in the trilogy, “Banking On the People: Democratizing Money In the Digital Age”, sprays the issue with “demystifier” and offers thoughtful, breakthrough solutions that will shift financial power and wellbeing from Wall Street to Main Street. When I traveled to Washington, D.C. a week or two after the 2008 election, there was literally dancing in the streets. The mood felt like the liberation of Paris or the fall of the Berlin Wall. But a lad and a lack. For many complex reasons, Obama bailed out Wall Street but not Main Street, and in the past decade we’ve come to recognize that the financial institutions that were “too big to fail” were not too big to fail the American people. As a result, the American middle class seems to have gone the way of the typewriter and slide rule, as the gap between rich and poor actually grew during the Obama administration. Bank loans for new businesses have been replaced with credit card debt that has further impoverished local enterprise, while the mega-banks continue to make mega-profits.This week’s guest Ellen Brown is the founder of the Public Banking Institute and the author of a dozen books and hundreds of articles. She developed her research skills as an attorney practicing civil litigation in Los Angeles. In the best-selling “Web of Debt”, she turned those skills to an analysis of the Federal Reserve and “the money trust,” showing how this private cartel has usurped the power to create money from the people themselves and how we the people can get it back. She developed an interest in the developing world and its problems while living abroad for eleven years in Kenya, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. She returned to practicing law when she was asked to join the legal team of a popular Tijuana healer with an innovative cancer therapy, who was targeted by the chemotherapy industry in the 1990s. That experience produced her book “Forbidden Medicine”, which traces the suppression of natural health treatments to the same corrupting influences that have captured the money system. She also co-authored the bestselling “Nature’s Pharmacy”, which has sold 285,000 copies.Today most of our money is created, not by governments, but by banks when they make loans. “Banking On the People” takes the reader step by step through the sausage factory of modern money creation, explores improvements made possible by advances in digital technology, and proposes upgrades that could transform our outmoded nineteenth century system into one that is democratic, sustainable, and serves the needs of the twenty-first century. If you’d like a simple understanding of a complex financial “shituation” along with outside-the-box and inside-the-box functional solutions, please tune in this Tuesday, July 23rd at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/To find out more about Ellen Brown and her work, please go to: https://ellenbrown.com/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Connie Baxter Marlow and Andrew Cameron – Revising Revisionist HistoryAired Tuesday, 16 July 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Connie Baxter Marlow and Andrew Cameron Bailey, Researchers and Makers of the Film “Seeds of Freedom”“Instead of pulling apart in a tug-of-war, we need to pull together in a tug of peace.” — Swami BeyondanandaMy favorite pleasantly provocative and curiosity-inducing question is … “Did you know?”Did you know … that there were fifty-four years of peace and friendship between the Mayflower Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians in Plymouth Colony between 1621 and 1675?You didn’t? Neither did I until I met this week’s guests Connie Baxter Marlow and Andrew Cameron Bailey some years ago, and they told me the inspiring story of how visionary leaders of two radically different cultures met and worked together to maintain an inter-cultural exchange that became what Bailey and Marlow call the “First Great Synthesis” between Europeans and American Indians. While many – including my own book Spontaneous Evolution credit the Iroquois Nation with the ideals and structures of governance that inspired our Constitution – Marlow and Cameron offer compelling evidence that many of these “seeds of freedom” came from the Pilgrims themselves.Connie Baxter Marlow is a descendant of Mayflower Pilgrims John Alden and Priscilla Mullins, known as America’s First Couple, made famous by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem. Her great-great-grandfather James Phinney Baxter, a pre-eminent historian of early New England, was President of the New England Historical Genealogical Society for 20 years. Connie brings a unique perspective to her ancestors’ dreams for humanity, in that she has spent 30 years in close association with visionary Native American elders throughout the United States and Mexico, and has been creating forums for them to share their understanding of the nature of the Universe for over 20 years.Andrew Cameron Bailey calls himself a “latter-day pilgrim.” He sailed across the Atlantic and arrived in America on Thanksgiving Day, 1969. He was born in England and grew up in South Africa amongst the Zulus, holds degrees in science, English and social anthropology, and was a chemistry professor before emigrating to the United States. After meeting Connie in 2003 he became disturbed at the level of misinformation in the American psyche surrounding the settling of New England, and the ongoing deprecation and denigration of the Pilgrims and the Puritans in present-day America. Andrew is the author of the 21st Century historical mystery novel/screenplay “The Mayflower Revelations,” that sets the historical record straight in an entertaining, enlightening and inspiring way.If you’re ready to entertain a more complete and holistic view of the founding of our country, please tune in this Tuesday, July 16th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Dr. Larry Dossey – From the Illusion of Separation to the Truth of UnityAired Tuesday, 9 July 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTIt’s “One Mind” Over All MattersInterview with Dr. Larry Dossey, Author of “One Mind: How Our Individual Mind is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why it Matters”“Sadly, the biggest threat to the planetary eco-system is the human ego-system.” — Swami BeyondanandaThere is nothing wrong with the human ego. Who would we be without an ego? Nobody, that’s who!But … what if in addition to being “somebody” we were also “everybody”? What if we were connected in ways that seem outlandish to the ordinary mind? What if, in fact, there was no such thing as the “ordinary mind” and that we were all part of one big “extraordinary mind”?Our guest this week, Dr. Larry Dossey, has been a pioneer in complementary and alternative medicine. He has written books that offer both empirical and anecdotal evidence of the healing power of prayer, and his latest book offers the best antidote yet to the unbalanced “individualism” that has woven us dangerously outside the web of life.As to what this metaphysical issue has to do with healing the body politic, Larry says: “Only by realizing, at the deepest emotional level, our connections with one another and the Earth itself can we summon the courage necessary to make the tough choices that are required in order to survive. So, this book is also about staying alive — saving the Earth and our own skins.”Dr. Larry Dossey has long been recognized as influential advocate of the role of the mind in health and the role of spirituality in healthcare. A graduate of University of Texas and Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, he also served as a battalion surgeon in Vietnam, and Chief of Staff of Medical City Dallas Hospital. The author of nine books and numerous articles, Dr. Dossey is the former Executive Editor of the peer-reviewed journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, the most widely subscribed-to journal in its field. In his 1989 book Recovering the Soul, he introduced the concept of “nonlocal mind” — mind unconfined to the brain and body, mind spread infinitely throughout space and time. Since then, “nonlocal mind” has been adopted by many leading scientists as an emerging image of consciousness. He is also the author of Healing Words : The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine as well as Prayer is Good Medicine : How to Reap the Healing Benefits of Prayer, pioneering and controversial books about the effect of mind on medicine. While mainstream science – in its unwillingness to even look at phenomena it can’t explain through current knowledge – has resisted Dr. Dossey’s idea, evidence from as far afield as quantum physics seems to support his view of “one mind”.If you’re curious how his work informs and impacts our current political, cultural, and ecological “shituation”, please tune in this Tuesday, July 9th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Thom Hartmann – The Hidden History of Guns and the Second AmendmentAired Tuesday, 2 July 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTSlavery, the “Doctrine of Discovery” and America’s Gun CultureInterview with Thom Hartmann, Radio Host and Author of “The Hidden History of Guns and the Second Amendment”“Those who fail to learn the lessons of history condemn THE REST OF US to repeat it.” — Swami BeyondanandaBack in the 1960s, black power activist H. Rap Brown famously proclaimed, “violence is as American as cherry pie.” This week’s guest on Wiki Politiki, Thom Hartmann, shows us how and why this is true, so true.At a time when the gun issue in the United States is front-and-center, and two competing narratives contradict each other, Thom Hartmann – a political “uncommontator” and contextualizer extraordinaire has sprayed the issue with “de-mystifier” in his latest book, “The Hidden History of Guns and the Second Amendment”.Guns were part of our political legacy since the day Columbus landed, and since the first slaves were bought to the new world from Africa. As part of the “doctrine of discovery” (https://wikipolitiki.com/revealing-and-revoking-the-doctrine-of-discovery-from-domination-to-reverence/), the conquistadors were given carte blanche by Pope Alexander to kill, rape, exploit and plunder non-Christian people who were deemed less than human. In his second visit to Hispaniola, Columbus made 1,600 local villagers slaves at the point of a gun. In 1992, historian David Stannard estimated that some 100 million Native peoples had been killed through murder, disease and starvation since they had been “discovered”.Likewise, as Thom points out in great detail, guns were used – arming whites and disarming blacks – to guard against slave rebellions, and then after the Civil War, to take power away from blacks and restore white supremacy. In modern times, when Obama was elected in 2008, there was a run on ammunition, as the rumor spread that this black man was going to take away the white man’s guns.Join us for a lively conversation that unwraps and unravels America’s love affair with guns, and how we’ve become armed and dangerous – to ourselves, mostly. Thom also has some practical and uncommonly commonsensical solutions that bring clarity out of obfuscation. For those who don’t know Thom Hartmann, he is a lifelong learner and wise teacher, whose books range from fossil fuels (“The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight”) to Thomas Jefferson and the founders of America, to “attention deficit disorder”. He is a progressive national and internationally syndicated talk show host. Talkers magazine named him America’s most important progressive host and has named his show one of the top ten talk radio shows in the country every year for over a decade. A four-time recipient of the Project Censored Award, Hartmann is also a New York Times bestselling author of twenty-four books, translated into multiple languages. Our conversation will touch on many issues – including how to “overgrow” the influence of money in politics, and how best to frame the gun issue so that we the people can successfully “fire the first Big Shot” in 2020. Isaac Bentwich MD – The Battlefield of the Soul and the Challenges of the Modern WorldAired Tuesday, 25 June 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTHow the Baghvad Gita Can Turn Our World Outside InInterview with Isaac Bentwich, M.D. Author of “Gita: A Timeless Guide for Our Times”“Ancient wisdom never gets old.” — Swami BeyondanandaThe Bible … the Koran … the I Ching … for millennia scholars have gone through these “fine couth tomes” with a fine tooth comb, seeking practical wisdom, and timeless perspective. This week on Wiki Politiki, we will be featuring one of the most heralded and widely-read ancient texts of all, the Baghvad Gita. Written more than 2,000 years ago, the Gita (meaning Divine Song), speaks to and accesses the “perennial wisdom” at the foundation of every spiritual path and practice. As Deepak Chopra has said, “Gita is the ultimate guide for your spiritual- journey.”It has been called the “foundation of yoga.” Yet, many western yoga students want to focus on the physical aspects of yoga, and grow impatient with this story that has been foundational for those who brought yoga to the west — from Yogananda to Vivekananda to Iyengar to the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It has also captivated and inspired many of the world’s greatest creative minds — scientists, thinkers, musicians, poets, and spiritual teachers: From Beethoven to Leonard Cohen, from Gandhi to Deepak Chopra, from Carl Jung to Robert Oppenheimer (‘father’ of the atomic bomb), from Emerson and Thoreau to Will Smith and Julia Roberts. Our guest this week, Isaac Bentwich M.D. is a longtime practitioner and teacher of Yoga and Meditation. Trained as a physician and a scientist, he has founded three life-science technology companies, leading revolutions in medicine, genomics, and environment conservation, and he now heads Innovation Center at Technion, recognized as one of the top-ten innovative universities in the world. The vision and innovations that underlie the companies he founded came through periods of silent meditation retreats at the foothills of the Himalayas and in the Galilee. His path is one of reverence to the Wisdom teachings that shine through different traditions and religions. The study and practice of Gita’s Wisdom teachings has profoundly touched his life, and he is passionate about sharing this with others. His work on this translation of the Gita spanned twelve years. For those not familiar with the book, the Gita is a dialogue between an Indian prince, Arjuna, and Krishna—his friend, master, and God incarnate. In the midst of a dramatic battle and deep moral dilemma, Krishna guides the prince from “worldly despondency to a brilliantly clear account of the meaning of life, the source of suffering, and the paths to happiness and self-fulfillment.”Just as Arjuna and Krishna inhabit the “battlefield of the soul,” Bentwich suggests that this “ancient inner guide is more relevant than ever in addressing the unique challenges we face in the modern world.” With the purpose of making the Bhagavad Gita more accessible and relevant to contemporary readers, Bentwich’s new translation is unique in three ways:1. It is the only translation that recreates in English the mesmerizing melody, meter, and rhyme of the Sanskrit original. 2. Gita is “women empowering,” crafted for both men and women. 3. Bentwich crystalizes the key messages of each verse to create a simple, practical guide to inner growth. If you’re curious how something written 2,000 years ago is uniquely applicable today, join us for a deep conversation this Tuesday, June 25th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Rabbi Rami Shapiro – The Future of Religion = The Future of Humanity Aired Tuesday, 18 June 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PST From Parochial Dogma to Perennial Wisdom Interview with Rabbi Rami Shapiro – Author, Holy Rascal, and “Perennial Wise Guy” “It’s a dogma-eat-dogma world out there.” — Swami Beyondananda In case you haven’t noticed, there is a pitched battle going on between two dueling paradigms – traditional religion, and scientific materialism – both of which hold part of the story, neither of which have the whole picture. As Bruce Lipton has pointed out, this modern religion called “science” actually uses words like “dogma” and “heresy” to enforce a set of beliefs, not unlike religion. And while science is supposedly a system for carefully assessing evidence and determining fact, I have met “fundamentalist” scientific materialists as fervent as their religious counterparts. Unfortunately, while these two incomplete narratives are duking it out, we’ve lost the sane, sacred coherence of the spiritual and material acting in accord. Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week, Rabbi Rami Shapiro has dedicated his work and life to, in his words, “working for the spiritual liberation of humankind by freeing religion from the parochial and the political, the tribal and xenophobic, the one–dimensional and literal, to reclaim the Perennial Wisdom at the heart of humanity’s sacred myths, stories, rituals, and symbols.” A Jewish practitioner of Perennial Wisdom, Rabbi Rami is an award–winning author of over thirty-six books on religion and spirituality. He received rabbinical ordination from the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion and holds a PhD in religion from Union Graduate School. A rabbinic chaplain with the USAF for 3 years, a congregational rabbi for 20, and a professor of religious studies for 10, Rabbi Rami currently co-directs the One River Foundation, is a Contributing Editor at Spirituality and Health magazine, and hosts the magazine’s bi-weekly podcast, Essential Conversations with Rabbi Rami (www.spiritualityhealth.com). Rabbi Rami also considers himself a “holy rascal” whom he defines as, “spiritual culture jammers who playfully pull back the curtain on the great and terrible wizards of parochial piety and shallow spirituality to free religion from hucksterism and pious pabulum.” So… how can accessing what Rabbi Rami calls “the mystic heart of the world’s religions” get us through the dystopian desert we seem stuck in to the Promised Land of thrival for each and all? Tarek Mounib – Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner – 2019 StyleAired Tuesday, 11 June 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PST“Free Trip to Egypt” A Journey From the Illusion of Separation to the Truth of OnenessInterview with Tarek Mounib, Producer of the Documentary “Free Trip to Egypt”“The one thing that will save humankind is human kindness.” — Swami BeyondanandaIt was more than 50 years ago that an envelope-pushing motion picture broke the issue of interracial marriage into mainstream consciousness. In “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” starring Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, Sidney Poitier and Katherine Houghton, two families get to confront societal taboos and personal conflicts as an interracial couple announce their pending marriage. The movie ends with mutual acceptance and both families sitting down to dinner together.Note that the movie wasn’t called “Guess Who’s Coming for Coffee?”There is something about the ritual of sharing food, company and conversation that can transform the illusion of separation into the truth of oneness. And just as the aforementioned movie opened doors and possibilities half a century ago, perhaps a new film can help heal the misunderstandings and conflicts between Americans and the Muslim world.Tarek Mounib, a Canadian-Egyptian entrepreneur living in Switzerland was troubled by a world that seemed ever more divided and polarized. In response to increasing levels of anger and hatred towards “the other” on American social and broadcast media, he resolved to reach out to the very people who fear his culture, with an intriguing idea. With the aim of trying to build mutual understanding, Tarek traveled across the United States in order to find Americans who feel threatened by Islam and offered them a Free Trip to Egypt. (Spoiler: He goes to Donald Trump rallies to find these people.)The resulting documentary by the same name is the story of those who had the courage – despite their preconceptions – to take Tarek up on the offer. You’ll have to see the movie to get the full picture, but I predict you will be moved, transformed and encouraged about our potential to “re-humanize” the other. (See below for special screening information)I am thrilled and honored to have Tarek as my guest on Wiki Politiki this week in particular, because the film will be specially screened in 500 theaters nationwide this Wednesday, June 12th. You can click on the site below to find out where it is playing near you. (https://www.freetriptoegypt.com/watch#event_summary)The filmmakers have even included a downloadable Discussion Guide which includes my article “Hearty Laughter –A Heart-to-Heart Connection That Builds Bridges,” along with many other talking points, interviews with the film makers, and suggestions for engaging around the movie.Again, please go here to find out more (https://www.freetriptoegypt.com/about) and make plans to see the movie and participate in the live streamed discussion this Wednesday.Meanwhile, enjoy the interview live this Tuesday, June 11th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You’ll also be able to listen to it in our archives. Jill Cody – Seduced and AbandonedAired Tuesday, 4 June 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTThe “Velvet Coup” That Cost Us Our Democracy, and How We Get It BackInterview with Jill Cody, Radio Host and Author of “America Abandoned”“Our commonwealth has been hijacked by a small percentage of the uncommonly wealthy and now we the people must ‘higher-jack” it.” — Swami BeyondanandaIn the early 2000s, my friend and colleague Joseph McCormick was going through a dark night of the soul. A hardline conservative, former Army Ranger and a Christian Coalition member, he had just lost a Congressional race in Georgia, and he found himself on a spiritual retreat in a cabin in rural Virginia. While there, he was “adopted” by a band of hippies, and he had an epiphany — that fundamentally, all of us really want the same things, except we’ve been divided by habit and tribalism. He decided his mission was to “reunite America.” He got a grant and set about to interview luminaries across the political spectrum, asking one question: What ails America, and how do we fix it?His interviewees, ranging from Ralph Nader and Noam Chomsky on the left, to Ross Perot and Grover Norquist on the right, pretty much all said the same thing: Citizen engagement. We the people have become disengaged from the political process, and only by re-engaging can we rebalance the balance of power.Well, here we are fifteen or so years later, and we seem more divided than ever. Those who are engaged, tend to be polarized to one side or the other. The media accentuates the polarities so that political conversations tend to create a lot of heat, and very little light. The good news is that more and more Americans are awakening from the dueling dualities puppet show, and recognizing that we now need to engage in an entirely new way, independent of the two political parties. Instead of “following” parties or candidates, we the people need to LEAD the conversation. Our guest this week, Jill Cody is a citizen advocate, award-winning author, and radio host. She’s held a life-long passion for knowledge and a will to inspire change in politics, the environment, higher education, and organizational development. During Jill’s 31-year career in public service, she saw our democracy slipping away in slow motion. This observation inspired her to research what happened that ended up explained in her international award-winning book, America Abandoned: The Secret Velvet Coup That Cost Us Our Democracy.Prior to that Jill was personally trained and authorized by vice president Al Gore to share his “An Inconvenient Truth” presentation with schools and community groups across Silicon Valley. Her passion for educating anyone who would listen, led her to write Climate Abandoned: We’re on the Endangered Species List published this past Earth Day and became a #1 Amazon Bestseller.Currently Jill hosts a bi-weekly radio show “Be Bold America!” on KSQD 90.7FM serving the Monterey Bay and the world, to discuss ideas on how to reunite this country and save our democracy. As Jill examined her own family history and the role “abandonment” played, she recognized that the American people have been seduced by the American dream, and then abandoned by those who hold the real power. And now, we must re-engage as a more awakened and wiser body politic. The Real Story Behind “Vaxxed” – How the Body Politic Can Emerge From a “Pharmaceutically Induced Coma”Aired Tuesday, 28 May 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Del Bigtree, Producer of “Vaxxed”“The truth shall UPSET you free.” — Swami BeyondanandaMy cosmic comic cohorts in the Firesign Theatre said it in their 1974 comedy record: Everything You Know Is Wrong.Boy, were they right. And that’s even truer when you are convinced everything you know is right. Take the “anti-vaccination” movement — or rather the anti-anti-vaccination movement. A couple of months ago, a “progressive” audience pretty much booed me off the stage when I made a peripheral reference to mandatory vaccinations maybe not being such a good idea.I might have been one of those booing boors, had it not been for a posting by my esteemed colleague, Mark Crispin Miller, in 2016. Mark had his own “upwising” after the 2004 election when he published his book, Fooled Again: The Real Case For Electoral Reform. The book offered ample evidence of electoral fixes in 2000 and 2004, including hacked voting machines. Mark eagerly awaited the positive reviews that would come from left stalwarts like Democracy Now and Mother Jones. But they never came. The response from the progressive press and the Democratic Party was deafening silence. They were simply unwilling to take on the established order, where apparently the Democrats were supposed to lose. And while that party seemed willing to accept that fated role, Mark was not willing to go along with it. And he has become one of the few “alt left” journalists willing to call out the establishment on issues that are conveniently dismissed as “conspiracy theories.”So when I read his post on the controversial movie, Vaxxed. dated April 2, 2016 my eyes were opened. Subsequently, I’ve watched the Truth About Vaccines video series, and was surprised to find that most of the doctors interviewed favored vaccines — but were alarmed at how many were given at once to young babies primarily for financial gain, how much money Big Pharma was making on the vaccines, how studies linking vaccines to autism and other conditions were suppressed, and how doctors who had any objections have been marginalized, ostracized, and worse.Perhaps now that the pharmaceutical industry is being held accountable for the opioid crisis, there is the perfect opportunity to break the vaccination issue through the “soundless barrier.”That’s why I am thrilled and honored to have as my guest on Wiki Politiki this week Del Bigtree, the producer of the aforementioned Vaxxed movie, which was supposed to air at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 but was withdrawn. You can read the “official” story in Wikipedia where you will notice they use loaded words like “pseudoscience” … “discredited” … “anti-vaccine propaganda film”, etc. Speaking of “discredited”, if reading this entry doesn’t evoke Pravda (the Russian word for “truth” that the Russian people recognized to mean “lies”) then … well, might as well leave Orwell enough alone.Del Bigtree’s foray into the vaccine issue was anything but intentional. After spending a decade celebrating great doctors, cutting edge surgeries and medical breakthroughs as a producer on The Dr. Phil Show and the CBS medical talk show, The Doctors, it was a routine investigation into the story of a whistleblower at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that catapulted Del into the vaccine debate. When every news agency in television, including The Doctors, refused to cover the story of Dr. William Thompson, a senior scientist at the CDC who had provided over 10,000 documents to support his claim that the agency had destroyed scientific evidence proving a connection between vaccines and autism, Del put his career on the line and left network television to make one of the most controversial documentaries in history: Vaxxed: From Cover-Up To Catastrophe. The film made worldwide news when it was abruptly removed from the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival lineup under unprecedented pressure by the festival’s medical sponsor, The Sloan Foundation.Del has since become one of the preeminent voices of the vaccine risk awareness movement around the world. He is the founder of the non-profit, Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN), and host of a rapidly growing internet talk show The HighWire, boasting over 33 million views to date. You can find out more about ICAN here. https://icandecide.org/If you’re ready to have the veils lifted on the vexing issue of vaccinations, please tune in this Tuesday, May 28th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Harvey Stone – The Next Ten Years: Breakdown, Breakthrough and BreakawayAired Tuesday, 21 May 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Writer, Speaker, and Optimist Harvey Stone“We live on a shrinking planet that could definitely use a good shrink.” — Swami BeyondanandaBack in my teaching days, I had a hilarious colleague who loved to channel Mel Brooks’ 2000-year-old man character, who naturally — or unnaturally — spoke with a Yiddish accent. I knew my friend was considering changing schools so when I ran into him, I asked him “So, what are you doing next year?”And he answered in that perfect Yiddish inflection, “Oh? They’re having ANOTHER ONE?”Apparently we are too — years, that is. And given how stressful years have been in recent years, looking into the future feels a bit like watching previews for the next dystopian epic. From a higher perspective of course, we recognize that chaos is a necessary phase of evolution. This week’s guest, Harvey Stone — a corporate trainer, sustainability expert, and self-proclaimed optimist — has a coherent and compelling take on where we might be headed over the next decade, and has some surprising insights to help us anticipate and navigate the changes, which he calls “Disruption, Democratization, Demonetization, and Depolarization.”He writes, “If you think the last decade was a blur, don’t blink during the next one. In fact, take a lot of photos of your world today because you may not recognize it when we welcome in 2030. Along the way, a ton of norms will be disrupted. But we’ve also got a moonshot at democratizing our world, demonetizing our costs, beginning to stabilize our climate, taking several giant steps forwards towards a more sustainable world and (hardest to believe) depolarizing out national politics.”Harvey has been an executive speechwriter for Apple, IBM, Sony and other firms, and has consulted with companies and international agencies on sustainability and its impacts. He has written a video script for the World Bank on carbon-pricing strategies, as well as a “Climate Change and Development” training program for its internal staff and its economically-developing client countries. He has also hosted a radio show highlighting sustainability and published an action-thriller novel, “Melting Down”, to reach a broader audience with climate issues. If you’re looking to see beyond our current “shituation” to find a likelier story — and a future more to your liking, please tune in this Tuesday, May 14th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Leah Lamb – Spontaneous Remission Through Spontaneous RemissioningAired Tuesday, 30 April 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTBringing Grace, Beauty, and Love Into Our Times Through Sacred StorytellingInterview with Author and Storyteller Leah Lamb“Stick to your old story, and you’re stuck with it.” — Swami BeyondanandaCellular biologist Bruce Lipton says crisis precipitates evolution and if we look at the current crises we face — ecologic, economic, political and spiritual — we can conclude that the chances of precipitation are 100%.Those who are paying attention are alarmed and concerned. Those paying even closer attention recognize that not just our civilization, but the web of life itself is at stake. Sadly, some of those who’ve been active for years have given up in frustration. We’re on track for a train wreck they say, and only a miracle can save us.But … did you know, there is actually a template for miracles? We can begin with the phenomenon called spontaneous remission. We read about these seemingly anomalous healings all the time, or perhaps we know someone who has had one. One day, the individual is on death’s door with a “fatal illness.” The next day, they are inexplicably symptom free. This kind of miraculous change that cannot be explained through ordinary science is often deemed a Divine intervention, part of the unknowable mystery. But there might be more to it.Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona, author of Coyote Medicine, tells us that spontaneous remission is often preceded by “a change of story.” In other words, our feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and the meaning we attribute to our situation may actually change the “field” in such a way that it impacts our physical reality. Can this also be true of our collective story and beliefs, and our collective reality? That’s what my book with Bruce Lipton, Spontaneous Evolution, is all about. As we say in the book:The spontaneous remission we seek appears to be contingent upon a spontaneous re-missioning of civilization through which we change our mission from one based on survival of the individual to one that encompasses survival of the species. Our guest this week, Leah Lamb, calls herself a “sacred storyteller” and our conversation will focus on how we “unravel” the old yarn, the one that doesn’t serve our evolution, and weave ourselves a new one. The Bible says, “In the beginning was the word.” Leah reiterates that every origin story in every culture tells us, “the world is sung, spoken or chanted into existence.”Leah Lamb, MSW, works with story as a tool for personal transformation and social change. Leah has authored short stories, documentaries, and award winning PSA’s about the environment. She produced and hosted The Green Channel at Current TV.Her articles have been featured in Fast Company, Spirituality & Health Magazine, and National Geographic News Watch. She now produces an online school for sacred storytelling called Speak the Spark, and is about to release her first guide to storytelling: A REBEL TELL: A Guide Book To Seeing, Hearing, and Creating Stories In Transition Times. If you’re ready to deconstruct stories that no longer work, and build the stories that will bring us to a truly new future, please tune in this Tuesday, April 30th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Leah Lamb and her work, please go here: https://www.leahlamb.com/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? From Trauma to Transformation – How To Make Our Political Crisis A RebirthAired Tuesday, 23 April 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Author and Political Consultant Eleanor LeCain“If crisis precipitates evolution, the chances of precipitation are 100%.” — Swami BeyondanandaMy comedian colleague Will Durst proclaims that the body politic is suffering from PTSD — President Trump Stress Disorder. While the trauma is palpable, it’s also important to recognize — as one of my correspondents recently shared — “beneath every festering pus hole is a deeper infection.”In this next phase of the seemingly never-ending election season, we are once again being diverted to personalities and surface issues — when the deeper crisis is demanding to be addressed. From climate change to political climate change, we are called upon to move past divisive rhetoric to a unifying vision. As Van Jones pointed out several years ago, Martin Luther King’s famed speech was “I have a dream” not “I have a complaint.”So other than wanting Trumpty Dumpty to have a great fall, what DO the sane and reverent majority want? What is our dream, our vision for a healthy future? Where is the opportunity in the crisis, and how do we unify to bring it forth? Our guest this week, Eleanor LeCain, is particularly suited for this conversation. She is both a visionary and political strategist, who advises candidates on all areas of domestic policy and campaign strategy. She has extensive experience in successfully electing progressives at the federal, state and local level. She currently serves as the top Issues advisor to the presidential candidate Marianne Williamson. In 2016, she was the National Director of the She Wins We Win campaign to elect Democratic women to Congress. In 2014, she was campaign manager for Marianne Williamson for Congress in Los Angeles. In 2012, she helped Elizabeth Warren win a seat in the US Senate. Her book, Breakthrough Solutions: How to Improve Your Life and Change the World by Building on What Works, has an Introduction by the Dalai Lama. The book profiles key innovations in areas such as education, crime, green jobs, and ending poverty. Her articles are published widely from the New York Times to the Boston Business Journal to Le Monde in Paris, France. She hosts her own show, All Together Now, on PRN radio. If you’re seeking a visionary yet grounded approach to a unifying and forward-thinking movement, please tune in this Tuesday, April 23rd at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET if you’re ready to be educated, inspired and activated! http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Eleanor LeCain and her radio show, please go here: http://prn.fm/hosts-ellen-kamhi-2To read her most recent article, go here: https://prospect.org/authors/eleanor-lecainOne more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Unstoppable! – How A Concerned Mother Launched a Movement to Free the World of GMOs and GlyphosatesAired Tuesday, 16 April 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Author and Moms Across America Founder Zen Honeycutt“Just because glyphosates have toxified our soil, our crops and our microbiome don’t mean we should take it poisonally.” — Swami BeyondanandaIt has long been said that necessity is the mother of invention. But … sometimes it is motherhood that makes invention necessary.Moms Across America grew out of one mother’s concern about her children’s health. Several years ago, Zen Honeycutt’s boys were suffering from chronic health issues — allergies, asthma, autoimmune issues and even autism. She writes, “It was overwhelming- I felt terrified and helpless. Then I learned about the food supply and the toxins our children are exposed to, started Moms Across America and connected with thousands of people dedicated to health.”That one decision to educate herself and take charge of her family’s health has sparked an “upwising” that has impacted thousands of other families and moved the dial:• 600+ Mothers Against America volunteers have hosted 1000+ events nationwide. • Organic food products are growing 3 times faster than conventional • 82% of America households now buy some form of organic food – Organic Trade Association • Over 200 locations have restricted or banned glyphosate. • There are now countless healthy children whose families hope for the future has been restored.Having immersed myself in this conversation in recent months, I’ve concluded that when it comes to glyphosates (the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Round-Up and other herbicides), there are two kinds of people: The kind who are concerned if not alarmed … and those who haven’t looked into the issue.Meanwhile, Monsanto — now part of Bayer, those wonderful folks who brought us Auschwitz — and their minions continue to spread disinformation disguised as “science”, in spite of the recent successful lawsuits affirming the link between glyphosate exposure and cancer. If you would like to find out more about Round-Up, glyphosates and GMOs — and how to mitigate the harm they do, and inform others — tune in for this inspiring story of how one concerned mother moved the dial.Tune in this Tuesday, April 16th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET if you’re ready to be educated, inspired and activated! http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about the Unstoppable and Moms Across America, please go here: https://www.momsacrossamerica.com/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? The Financial Freedom Act – How to Eliminate the Income Tax and Pay For All We Need… And MoreAired Tuesday, 9 April 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTInterview with Author and Entrepreneur Scott Smith, Founder of the Foundation for a Better Economy“If we are going to have a casino economy, let’s at least make sure we the people are the ‘house’.” — Swami BeyondanandaReady to stretch your imagination? You sure?OK … Imagine as if by magic, there is no more income tax, no more sales tax, or property tax. Then imagine we find a way to magically pay for everything the government currently spends money on … plus free health care for all, social security that is “secure” forever, and a guaranteed income of about $24,000 a year for every adult American. Oh, and then imagine all of this, AND we pay off the national debt. Our guest this week, Scott Smith, an economic visionary with feet-on-the-ground experience has a plan to do just that. He calls his proposed legislation the Financial Freedom Act … and by taxing the $5 quadrillion in financial transactions that take place every year instead of the mere $16 trillion in income, we can finance the world of our dreams.Over the past several generations our economy has shifted from the “material economy” (the part of the economy that is about making “things”) to the “monetary economy” (the part of the economy that is about making money). With factories closing and production jobs going offshore, an entirely new industry has become the way to create wealth. Our tax system that was created more than a century ago reflects a time when most of the money in the economy has given way to what is called “financialization”. Our economy is basically centered on making money rather than producing value. Meanwhile the financial economy — the world of interest, speculation, mergers and acquisitions — expands unfettered, while those who produce and provide “income” is forced to bear the burden.I read the shortened version of Scott Smith’s book, and I find it one of the most promising, heartening, transformational and doable proposals I have ever seen. Sure, the financial institutions and reified powers in power will fight the idea tooth and nail. But as what the Swami would call “a critical mass of the heretofore uncritical masses” hear about it, the movement to enact it will make the Tea Party and Occupy movements seem like sewing circles.Scott Smith was an early pioneer in structured finance, launching the first mixed-property commercial mortgage conduit and securing a billion-dollar line of credit from Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). Scott also helped structure financing for President Nelson Mandela’s Redevelopment Program for affordable housing. He is founder and former publisher of Kidz Magazine, which invited young readers to submit content. The publication grew from a local magazine to an international media channel, with a circulation that spanned 30 nations. Scott also is the co-founder of two Colorado charter schools, Summit Middle School and Peak-to-Peak Charter School, the latter of which is ranked among the nation’s top schools by Time Magazine and U.S. News & World Report.Seriously and humorously, this might be one of the MOST IMPORTANT INTERVIEWS I have ever done!Tune in this Tuesday, April 9th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET if you’re ready for REAL economic change in this country. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about the Financial Freedom Act, please go here: https://abettereconomy.org/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Candidate Tulsi Gabbard Focuses on IDENTICAL Issues, Not Identity IssuesAired Tuesday, 26 March 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTRep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) Speaks At University of San Francisco“There has been a key missing element in government of, by and for the people — the people!” — Swami BeyondanandaOnce again it’s time for the (bad) dog and (lame) pony show called “electoral politics” which seems to be designed to keep the American people occupied fighting over “identity issues” instead of gathering around the IDENTICAL ISSUES we all face, cultivating the virtues and values that 90% of us share, and using those to set a standard for governance. While Presidential campaigns have long been called out as “beauty pageants” and “popularity contests,” the 2016 campaign stood out in stark contrast. It was an “ugly pageant” and “unpopularity contest”, as people rushed to the polls to vote against the candidate they hated more. The results were conclusive: “None-of-the-above” would have won in a landslide. And here we are once again, with the Democratic (sic) Party establishment set on going back to what the voters didn’t want in 2016, and polishing their image as “we’re not as bad as the other guys”, while a Democratic socialist insurgency seeks to “fight the power” and pull the party leftward. In the midst of this replay of a scenario that handed Trumpism a victory in 2016, there is one candidate who stands out as sane … coherent … courageous … qualified, and on the scene to be of service, and who is ready to bust the divide-and-conquer game that “pits one group of us against the other for their own gain.”That candidate is Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), who served as Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager in her home state, and then resigned her position at the Democratic National Committee over how she perceived Bernie to be cheated out of delegates by the DNC.We had the opportunity to meet her when she came to speak at the University of San Francisco on March 16th … and we were not disappointed. In addition to calling our corruption that is kept in place by both major parties, she announced herself ready, willing and able to stand up to the military industrial complex, and re-purpose billions of dollars toward the wellbeing of the American people, and not the American empire. Unlike every President since Bush Senior, Tulsi actually served in the military during the Iraq War. Consequently, she has no illusions what war looks like, and she is decidedly against “wars of regime change” and “not intimidated by stars on the shoulder”.She is better than “plainspoken” — she is “real spoken”, forthcoming about her Hindu faith and the “spirit of aloha” that unites us. Yes, yes, yes. George Burns the cynic put it well: “Sincerity and honesty. If you can fake those, you got it made.”My BS detector says Tulsi is real — a real person, taking on this mission to be in service to our country and its people, not her ego. I am enrolled in seeing her get the 65,000 individual donations that will qualify her for the debates. I’m betting that if you listen in, you will too.Tune in this Tuesday, March 26th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET if you want to be inspired about the REAL future of politics in this country. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Tulsi Gabbard’s Presidential campaign, please go here: https://www.tulsi2020.com/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Documentaries For A Conscious Humanity — Making Peace, One Movie at a TimeAired Tuesday, 19 March 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTAn Interview with Filmmaker Emmanuel Itier“If you don’t like the current programming, turn off your TV and tell-a-vision instead.” — Swami BeyondanandaMovies move us.Sure they were originally called “movies” because they were “motion pictures”. And there is something about the total immersion in a darkened theater watching a large screen that “puts us in the picture” and creates a totality of experience that is not just intellectual, but visceral and all-encompassing. That’s why movies move us.Can movies move us toward an actual movement that moves the world? Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week, filmmaker Emmanuel Itier thinks so. Born in France, Itier moved to the US 30 years ago and has used his platform in recent years to promote consciousness, and political and spiritual transformation. His most recent film — created in collaboration with Executive Producer Sharon Stone, is called WE THE PEOPLE — a worldwide exploration of the notions of politics and economics with the likes of Robert Reich, Deepak Chopra, Sharon Stone, Michael Beckwith, Nobel Peace Laureates Mairead Maguire and Tawakkol Karman, Vandana Shiva, Mark Wahlberg, and many others. Says Emmanuel, “If we cultivate caring economies and politics maybe we can build a sustainable planet full of peace, justice and love for everybody. When you watch WE THE PEOPLE you will realize we are not focusing at putting anyone, any party, down but we are focusing on the possible solution to better our Humanity and use the tools of politics and economics to build a sustainable future.”In the subtitle, Emmanuel uses a compelling and “swami-esque” phrase, “Re-evolution” to cite the need to move beyond the old paradigm “revolution” to the far more constructive and generative “evolution” to describe the passage in front of us.He says, “This is a re-evolution of peace and love. How can we re-invent ourselves as one humanity, all interconnected, all interdependent from each other? Yes, we need a real change, a real shift of mind set and start looking again as collaborative forces and not as competitors, a peaceful neighbors and not segregated individuals. We need also a leadership inviting us to unite beyond our difference of opinion because we share the same land under the same sky.”Emmanuel Itier has enjoyed more than two decades of film success prior to this documentary. He directed: Tell Me No Lies (2000), Scarecrow (2002), The Invocation (featuring Deepak Chopra, Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama) and Bermuda Femme (2013). In addition, he acted as a co-producer and financing consultant for Johnny Mnemonic, Another 9½ Weeks, Shattered Image (1998), The Dentist (1996), and Progeny (1999). Peter B. Collins – Progressive Journalism in Regressive TimesAired Tuesday, 12 March 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTAn Interview with Talk Show Host and Uncommontator Peter B. Collins“Forget taking America back. Let’s take her forward.” — Swami BeyondanandaTom Paine would have called these soul-trying times. And anyone with soul would call these “paine-ful” times. We have a president who is a bold-faced liar, and a mainstream press that prefers lying by omission and nuance. What a choice. Covert skullduggery, or overt scumbaggery. Caught between the devil and the deep blue state. So how does one navigate these waters, when it’s hard to tell fake real news from real fake news?Wonder no more. Our guest this week Peter B. Collins, is here to disabuse the politically abused, and hold the line for sanity and wisdom at a time when both are in short supply.Peter B. grew up in Cincinnati, and in high school he and his buddies built a closed-circuit campus radio station. He went to Northwestern in Chicago, and a few years later he was hosting the late-night talk show on WLS-FM (WDAI), which rose to #1. He moved to the Bay Area in 1976 as a DJ and talk show host on KOME in San Jose. In the late 1970s he was a weekend talk host at KGO in San Francisco, the market leader. For most of the 1980s he was morning personality at KRQR, The Rocker. In 1989, he returned to talk radio at KNBR, where he was the token liberal and followed Rush each day. He followed that with an afternoon stint on KSFO, before it was sold into right-wing demagoguery. He was a satellite radio pioneer on Sirius 2003-2004, and hosted the syndicated Peter B. Collins Show from 2005-2009. He was part owner of progressive talk station KRXA in Monterey, California, which was sold in 2014.He currently produces a daily podcast, PBC News & Comment where he covers issues that mainstream media give “blanket coverage” — meaning they cover them up with a blanket to make sure everyone is left in the dark.Writes Peter about himself:Peter B. Collins is burdened with too many opinions. He follows news and politics to a degree that one friend calls “borderline obsessive” and the Peter B. Collins Show is his therapy. From San Francisco, he brings you his views and analysis on important national and international issues, and interviews political leaders, journalists, authors and others who know more than he does.If you’re curious about how a truth-telling progressive walks the line — or is it “the lyin'” — between two incomplete narratives, tune in this Tuesday, March 12th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out about Peter’s podcast, please go here: https://www.peterbcollins.com/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Wise Democracy: Accessing the Wisdom of We the People to Create Political Climate ChangeAired Tuesday, 5 March 2019, 5:00 PM EST / 2:00 PM PSTAn Interview with Author and Wisdom Council Convener Jim Rough“If we want peace in the Middle East, first we need to create peace in the Middle West.” — Swami BeyondanandaAs my colleague Bruce Lipton points out, when we are adrenalized by anger and outrage, we go into “fight or flight”. In other words, our energy flows from our cerebral cortex to our hindbrain. We become more reactive, less creative. And when we are in a political climate where outrage against the other is carefully and continually cultivated, we become downright stupid. As many progressives can see, this “stupidization” process had culminated in Donald Trump as President. However, what many progressives cannot see is that their own blind outrage has fueled the flames of misunderstanding and taken us further from the awareness we will collectively need to “overgrow” our current corrupt political “shituation.”Consider this quote from a New York Times OpEd piece on our “Culture of Contempt” by Arthur C. Brooks of the American Enterprise Institute: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/02/opinion/sunday/political-polarization.htmlThis “outrage industrial complex” works by catering to just one ideological side, creating a species of addiction by feeding our desire to believe that we are completely right and that the other side is made up of knaves and fools. It strokes our own biases while affirming our worst assumptions about those who disagree with us.Fortunately, there are some excellent tools available for we the people to not just listen to and hear one another, but to collaborate on bringing forth breakthrough solutions and “political climate change.” This week’s show is about one such tool.In Spontaneous Evolution, in our chapter “Healing the Body Politic”, Bruce Lipton and I explored what author James Surowiecki called “the wisdom of crowds” and Tom Atlee calls “co-intelligence” as we offer example after example of how ordinary people can collectively access extraordinary wisdom. One of the specific examples we gave was the work of Jim Rough, author of Society’s Breakthrough! Releasing Essential Wisdom and Virtue in All the People. Jim is the developer of Dynamic Facilitation and exciting strategy called the Wisdom Council Process, that has been practiced widely around the world and has actually been incorporated into the Constitutions of two states of Austria.Writes Jim:Dynamic Facilitation is a way to spark people to achieve breakthrough progress on impossible-to-solve issues. In my seminars teaching Dynamic Facilitation participants often practice their new skills by facing impossible-seeming issues from society like climate change, partisan gridlock, threats of authoritarianism, etc. More than 25 years ago, this led to the development of the Wisdom Council Process.Today our society is like a supertanker heading in a direction no one wants to go—trashing the planet, our democratic institutions and our people. But the “Wisdom Council Process” offers a way to quickly turn things around. It’s a way to educate the people, create shared vision, heal the partisan divide, establish new legislation, generate new technologies, etc.Jim Rough is a social innovator and Director of the Center for Wise Democracy. As a business consultant he developed “Dynamic Facilitation” and “The Wisdom Council Process,” new tools which are used all over the world to bring transformational change to individuals and organizations. He is also a speaker, seminar leader and author of the book, “Society’s Breakthrough! Inner Journeys, Cosmic SojournsAired Tuesday, 26 February 2019, 5:00 PM ESTAn Interview with Transpersonal Hypnotherapist and Author Stephen Poplin“Past lives? Been there, done that.” — Swami BeyondanandaAt a time when being in the here and now can feel quite challenging, perhaps being in the “there and then” can offer us some perspective. On this week’s Wiki Politiki, we take a detour to look at the long, long, long view. How long? Lifetimes … eons … beyond time, and what you or I would consider “reality.”Our guest this week, Stephen Poplin, has worn many hats: political philosopher, astrologer, transpersonal hypnotherapist. It was while practicing hypnotic regression with his clients that he uncovered not just the world of past lives, but life between lives. Following in the footsteps of hypnotherapist Michael Newton, Stephen “interviewed” thousands of people in deep trance, and heard remarkable past life stories that shed light on their present life issues. His book, Inner Journeys, Cosmic Sojourns, is a fascinating chronicle of these stories. So, one might ask, what in the world has this to do with Wiki Politiki? In Stephen’s words, it’s a chance to “step back and view the big picture, and check out the cosmic map.” If you accept the possibility of reincarnation (Swami says, “if you don’t believe in reincarnation, don’t worry … you will in your next lifetime”), it means over many lifetimes, we’ve been nearly everywhere and seen it all. We’ve been men and women, many races and religions, and we have “done unto” just as surely as it has been “done unto” us.The fascinating stories in his book speak to the breadth and universality of human experience, and suggest that the political tribulations we seem to be undergoing today are part of a much larger learning arc.A lifelong learner, Stephen Poplin attended six universities in three countries, earning degrees in philosophy and humanities (his graduate work concerned inter-cultural studies, utopian literature, and comparative religions). He also studied drama therapy and psychodrama, history and civilization. He moved to Virginia Beach, VA to study the Edgar Cayce readings, where he years gave talks at the A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment) and saw patients and taught courses at the Center for Integrative Medicine – a part of the George Washington University Medical Center, Washington DC. He also trained with Dr. Michael Newton, and is the former International Director of The Michael Newton Institute for Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy. He currently lives in Ames, Iowa and travels frequently to Europe.Guaranteed you will find this an intriguing, mind-bending conversation — and it may well give you some long, long distance perspective on your life, and our world.Tune in this Tuesday, February 26th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET: http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Stephen Poplin’s work go here: http://www.transpersonal.us/bio.htmlAnd his Inner Journey Cosmic Sojourns book can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Inner-Journeys-Cosmic-Sojourns-hypnotherapists/dp/0998896934One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Most Of What You Believe About Poverty Is Wrong with Mauricio Miller!Aired Tuesday, 19 February 2019, 5:00 PM ESTAn Interview with Mauricio Miller, Founder of The Alternative Project“The war on poverty? It’s over. The poor people have surrendered.” — Swami BeyondanandaAt a time when the gap between rich and poor is the widest in ninety years, we need more funding for poverty programs, right?Well … maybe and maybe not. This week’s guest, Mauricio Miller, author of The Alternative, points out that poverty programs over the past 50 years haven’t really moved the dial. What if the poverty programs themselves kept the conditions in place? What if the real beneficiaries have been those who have SERVED the underserved community? What if these programs promote dependency and not self-reliance?What if the current way of giving help has left people helpless, and actually created a “industry” that makes sure the problem stays in place, largely unsolved? Here is a quote from The Alternative that may shed some light on the “shadow” of anti-poverty programs:In a letter to pastors, while in the Birmingham jail, Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote:“I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizens Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate.” Noting their paternalism, he continued, “Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill.”Mauricio’s understanding comes from his own upbringing in a single-parent family. His mother — proud, resourceful, independent and smart — found herself up against stereotyped images of who people thought she was, and a social welfare system that discouraged all of those things! After years of watching that same system disempower and fail to serve the next generation, he presented California’s then-Governor Jerry Brown with a radical plan to encourage poor communities to cultivate their own resources and find their own solutions. He founded the Family Independence Initiative (FII) in 2001, to capture the stories and data which demonstrate that low-income families, when working together, have the capacity to help themselves and help one another towards sustained upward mobility. Now working independently on the “Alternative Project”, Mauricio seeks to utilize those proof points to challenge the negative stereotype that low income families are “takers” from society. The project advocates for investing directly in family and group self-determined efforts, increasing mobility and their contributions to society. In recognition of his unconventional approach to generating economic mobility among low-income families, Mauricio was awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship in 2012. He was appointed by President Obama to the White House Council for Community Solutions, is an Ashoka Fellow, a Prime Mover Fellow and a Purpose Prize winner among other awards. He was honored with an invitation to President Clinton’s 1999 State of the Union address, has served on bank and philanthropic boards and started small businesses. He is the author of “The Alternative: Most of what you believe about poverty is wrong” among other publications. If you’ve wondered why the issue of “poverty” has been so intractable this past half-century, you’ll definitely want to catch this lively discussion. Aired Tuesday, 12 February 2019, 5:00 PM ESTThe “Green Economy” In ActionAn Interview Purium Co-Founder Dave Sandoval“We don’t need to save the planet, just spend it more wisely.” — Swami BeyondanandaThere’s been a lot of buzz recently about “green jobs” and the Green New Deal as a way of restoring the ecology and renewing the economy. However, the overall plan seems to gloss over the inconvenient truth that we must restore the soil and microbiome, and “overgrow” chemical farming and glyphosates (Round-Up) that depletes our soil. Our guest this week on Wiki Politiki is Dave Sandoval, co-founder of Purium, provider of plant-based nutritional products since 1994, and a successful “green” entrepreneur who DOES care about the soil. As Swami has said, “Going green can get us out of the red and keep us in the pink.”Dave Sandoval, has made it his life’s mission to change the world for the better. From nutrition and the environment to domestic violence and poverty, Dave has advocated on behalf of many causes. He’s invited people into his home to personally help them get healthy, lose weight or achieve their goals. And, through his mentorship program, he has inspired all kinds of people, including celebrities, to get out into the world and make a difference. Dave founded Purium in post-riot Long Beach with Gandhi’s philosophy, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”That’s when he started making 100% pure products out of his home in 1994, and he now has 100 pharmacists and almost 30,000 salespeople around the world working for his company Purium Health Products, which hit $47 million in revenue last year and is expecting to hit $75 million in revenue this year — a 276% growth in just three years. If you’re curious how your buying choices can enrich the soil as well as your own microbiome, and wondering how and what you eat impact your wellbeing, please tune in for this discussion with a leading edge business person with top-line products and a triple bottom line, tune in this Tuesday, February 12th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET – http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Dave and Purium, please go here: http://www.purehealthnetwork.com/page3/page3.htmlOne more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Aired Tuesday, 5 February 2019, 5:00 PM ESTThe Yellow Vests vs. Vested Interests – A People’s UpwisingAn Interview with American Ex-Pat and Marxist-Humanist Scholar Richard Greeman“We have a deeply-divided body politic. Half the people believe our system is broken, the other half believe it is fixed.” — Swami BeyondanandaWe are living in what Tom Paine would have called “soul-trying” times. While progressives are still baffled as to how Donald Trump became President and continue to be pulled into the very “resistance” that energizes Trumpism, a growing number of Americans are awakening to the political “shell” game. Regardless of which party wins, when it comes to the fundamental focus and rules of governance, those who already have too much money, power and influence seem to have the final say.Consider that under Obama (and Hillary as Secretary of State) we had the same neocon / neoliberal foreign policy as under Bush and Cheney. And even the Huffington Post has had to admit that income inequality became worse under Obama than it was under George W. Bush. The narrative playing on the mainstream is still about the growing list of “hopefuls” for the 2020 Presidential campaign, while the condition of the body politic remains “hopeless” unless we do a mass detox off of “hopium” and “deniatol.” What is needed is a true “2020 vision” to help we the people overgrow our corrupt and dysfunctional system, from the grassroots up instead of the top down.Fortunately, there is true hope on the horizon and it comes from the folks who helped us with the first American Revolution — France. You’ve probably been hearing about the Yellow Vest movement, which has been presented as one of those nationalistic, xenophobic “right wing” movements that seem to be sweeping Europe and the rest of the world. Not so fast, says my Wiki guest this week, Richard Greeman, an American expatriate living in France and a bona fide leftist. What he has observed first-hand is a movement of ordinary people tired of being told, “Let them eat cake” by a Marie Antoinette sound-alike Emmanuel Macron, who is an investment banker disguised as a “socialist.” As Greeman tells us in the interview, this is a from-the-ground-up movement that has rejected any affiliation with any party, right and left. This is the true “peoples upwising.”Richard Greeman is a self-described “Marxist-humanist, libertarian socialist and anarchist revolutionary”. He calls himself a red diaper grandbaby because his maternal grandfather was an admirer and follower of socialist presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs. When labeled a communist by a classmate as a child, Richard replied, “I’m a commonist — I am for the common people”. A graduate of Yale, Richard was one of the founders of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). After the fall of the Soviet Union, he traveled to Russia where he deepened his studies of Victor Serge, a Marxist anarchist internationalist novelist. In 1997, he helped establish the Victor Serge Public Library in Moscow and in 1998 co-founded the Praxis Research and Education Center in Moscow. Long story short, he brings a lifetime of awareness and perspective to a vexing movement … the Yellow Vest uprising in France … and the “vested interests” that are looking to dis-inform and misinform us on that topic. The mainstream press has painted it as a right wing movement, and indeed the press has cherry-picked right wing extremists to interview to “represent” the movement. Tune in this Tuesday, and get a more balanced picture of what is happening in France — and what COULD happen hear if progressives and populists ever got together for a generative conversation. If you’re feeling that currently the American body politic is stuck inside an unworkable system called “Futilism,” please catch this broadcast to discover how an angry uprising has led to an “upwising” where French citizens are working together for a change, to challenge a toxic and unworkable system that makes the elites richer and richer and the rest of us … not so much.Tune in this Tuesday, February 5th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET: http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/You can listen right here: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Richard, please go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_GreemanOne more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? More than 90% of us agree — we aren’t being represented … the two-party system is rigged … we need to make sure that the “free speech” of unbridled campaign spending doesn’t drown out the free speech that points us beyond the status quo.Consider the 2014 study by Princeton University Professor Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Professor Benjamin Page that concluded that the USA is for all intents and purposes an “oligarchy” because the views of the general public have very little sway over what legislation does or doesn’t get passed — particularly when the public will is in conflict with the special interests who “own” the politicians. Consider this mind-blowing statistic: On average, a US Senator must raise $14,000 a month for six years to pay for her or his re-election campaign. That’s some $30.6 million! Do the math … do the aftermath!Meanwhile, according to CBS News some $6.8 billion was spent on the 2016 Presidential election, while just 31% of the people thought the election process “was working as well as it could.”If we consider that $6.8 billion is larger than the economies of Argentina and Poland, that’s a lot of money to spend on a campaign that leaves 70% of us unsatisfied!Fortunately, my guest today James Jameson, the National Organizing Director of Represent.Us, is here with some good news for a change — anti-corruption and election reform activists from across the political spectrum are uniting to “unrig the system” — and are planning their second annual Unrig the System Summit in Nashville at the end of March.James Jameson is an experienced political activist, who has worked on several successful campaigns in New England. Starting off with fundraising for the 2012 Marriage Equality campaign in Maine, James has led canvas efforts in three states and field efforts in two. During the 2016 election cycle, James was the New Hampshire Out-of-State Director for Bernie Sanders before joining his National Advance Team, traveling to 27 states, and building rallies of thousands of people. Since first getting into political campaigning, James has been passionate about electoral reform, and was involved with Maine’s Ranked Choice Voting victory.Represent.us has as its key platform piece the American Anti-Corruption Act, whose intention it is to:* Stop political bribery by making it illegal for lobbyists to lobby a politician and donate to their campaign. You can lobby, or you can donate, but you can’t do both. * End secret money so Americans know who is buying political power. * Fix our broken elections so the people, not the political establishment, are the ones in control. If you’re tired of the “dogma-eat-dogma” battle of the two political sides, you will find this conversation quite refreshing, as James discusses the American Anti- Corruption Act, and the dozens and dozens of successful state and local campaigns to end gerrymandering, install “ranked-choice voting” and other voting reforms, and establish public financing of elections. Check out the “explainer videos” on the Represent.us site below … and join the campaign and “upwising” if you can!Tune in this Tuesday, January 29th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET: http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/Or, find us on the Wiki archives on Wednesday: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about Represent.us, please go here: https://represent.us/And to find out about the Unrig the System Summit, go here: https://unrigsummit.com/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Aired Tuesday, 22 January 2019, 5:00 PM ESTEnlightened Capitalism – It’s NOT An OxymoronAn Interview with B Corporation Pioneer John Montgomery“It’s time for the Golden Rule to overrule the rule of gold.”– Swami BeyondanandaOur show today is about Enlightened Capitalism and NO that is not an oxymoron, at least not according to today’s guest. At the same time we have to acknowledge that UNENLIGHTENED CAPITALISM has been allowed to run rampant, and people are starting to notice, particularly young people.Last October, an astounding public opinion poll came out indicating that one third of Millennials identified as socialists.Might this be seen as a sign that capitalism as it has been practiced has failed us? Thanks to a meme cultivated by economist Milton Friedman over 40 years ago, the ONLY purpose of a corporation is to make profit for its shareholders, and since the Citizens United Supreme Court decision nine years ago, it seems that corporations have taken upon themselves the right to extract and exploit in perpetuity, and send the cleaning bill to future generations.More and more awakening individuals are recognizing that this form of extractor capitalism — what Naomi Klein calls “disaster capitalism” — is not only obsolete but obsolethal. This old form of capitalism is doomed, and the question is can it evolve? Or will it die, possibly taking Western Civilization with it?Our guest today John Montgomery is a champion of a new form of enlightened capitalism called the B Corporation, B standing for benefit … as in benefitting the world at large and not just the shareholders “at small.”An attorney in practice for 35 years, John founded a successful Silicon Valley law firm, now Montgomery & Hansen, LLP, in 2003 and was previously a partner or attorney at prominent Bay Area law firms. In recent years, he’s been working with socially and environmentally oriented entrepreneurs to design new forms of governance to add conscience and consciousness above and beyond just profit. He was the co-chair of the legal working group behind California’s benefit corporation legislation, which became law in 2012, and was a California Bar Association Magazine lawyer of the year and B Lab MVP and Champion awards winner for this work.He has since become a leading authority on the benefit corporation. He is the President-Elect of the Benefit Company Bar Association, and serves on the advisory boards of B Lab Europe, the Purpose of the Corporation project and several benefit corporations. John’s work as an international advocate for the benefit corporation and the emergent impact economy inspired him to incorporate Lex Ultima in 2017.As John will tell you, “Lex Ultima” refers to what he considers the ultimate law of the Universe — universal love. Indeed, his experience tells him that companies that “lead from the heart” are more successful in every way — more profitable, more efficient, and have happier employees who stay with the company longer. Can more companies be inspired to do business “for the benefit of all”?Tune in this Tuesday, January 22nd at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/ for a truly encouraging take on how the power of love can counterbalance the power of money.Or, find us on the Wiki archives on Wednesday: http://wikipolitiki.com/archives/To find out more about John Montgomery and his work please go here: https://www.lexultima.com/people-1/One more thing… How YOU and WE Can Make a DifferenceHave you noticed that regardless of which of the two political parties you vote for, neither of them seem to be willing to confront Monsanto and agribusiness? Presented by Pegasus Health The central event of Chessie Henry’s insightful family memoir, We Can Make a Life, is the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Chessie’s father Chris, a Kaikōura-based doctor, crawled into makeshift tunnels in the collapsed CTV building to rescue the living and look for the dead. In her remarkable book, Chessie interviews her father, considers the psychological cost of heroism and the meaning of home, and asks how a family can make a life in Africa, Tokelau and the shaky South Island. Chessie and Chris Henry appear in conversation with Bronwyn Hayward. Supported by Trevor Hone Builders
In Episode IX of Out of Order Rachel Tausendfreund talks with GMF fellows Douglas Hengel, Joshua Kirschenbaum, and Andrew Small about transatlantic fights with Iran and the future of sanctions The sanctions regime against Iran that led to the JCPOA is widely considered one of the most successful implementations of sanctions ever, and also the EU’s biggest foreign policy success. But in May President Trump announced that the United States would withdraw from agreement, leaving allies and rivals scrambling to respond. Europe has announced its intentions to preserve the deal and has promised to come up with a plan by November 2019, signaling a willingness to defy U.S. sanctions to do so — and Russia and China are all too happy to cooperate. The foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, met with their counterparts from China, Russia, and Iran in Vienna in early July to continue work on their JCPOA rescue plans. With GMF fellows Douglas Hengel, Joshua Kirschenbaum, and Andrew Small, Rachel Tausendfreund discusses the role sanctions have played in the global order and the problem of dollar dominance and potential U.S. overreach. Will the EU be able to set up an alternative to shield its companies from secondary sanctions? How does China stand to benefit? And if U.S. allies are able to team up with China and Russia and defy U.S. sanctions, will this be the beginning of the end of unilateral sanction power, or of sanctions generally? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Think or Tanks: Josh: https://piie.com/publications/working-papers/eu-financial-services-policy-2007-crisis-responses-and-prospects Doug: https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/02/09/trumps-use-of-sanctions-may-be-unsustainable/ Andrew: https://macropolo.org/ Rachel: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5610554/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more read a TTake by Doug, Josh, and Andrew on the Iran deal options: “Three Views on U.S. Withdrawal from Iran Deal, and Europe and China’s Response“ http://www.gmfus.org/blog/2018/05/30/three-views-us-withdrawal-iran-deal-and-europe-and-chinas-response Three Views on U.S. Withdrawal from Iran Deal, and Europe ... www.gmfus.org If We Keep Our Cool, We Can Make it to New Negotiations And Joshua Kirschenbaum’s policy brief : “The United States and EU Can Still Avoid Conflict Over Iran Sanctions” http://www.gmfus.org/publications/united-states-and-eu-can-still-avoid-conflict-over-iran-sanctions
