In Tantra, you find two separate transmissions that seem to be in tension with one another: one one hand, there are the Jñāna or contemplation oriented traditions (for example, the Vijñāna-Bhairava Tantra or Somānanda's śiva-drshti) that privilege subtle, interior practices involving the intellect and spacious, sky-like awareness (think: Dzogchen) and on the other hand, in the vast majority of instances, there is the kriyā approach which centers formal, external, often deity-oriented ritualistic/ceremonial practice. The former might dismiss the latter as gross or preliminary (like we see in the Verses 8-13 in the Vijñāna-Bhairava, for example or like we see with Abhinava Gupta and Somānanda re-interpreting external practices like pūjā, homa, yāga, japa etc. to be internal, contemplative modes). In this talk, which we gave as part of our Denver 2026 retreat, I explain these two seemingly contradictory streams in the Tāntrik world with an appeal to Jñāna and Kriyā śaktis, the inherent powers of Consciousness, i.e God/Śiva to cognize and to act. More importantly, with an appeal to Icchā Śakti, which Somānanda prioritizes, we will reconcile the seeming dyad of Jñāna-Kriya or Knowledge/Action or Meditation/Ritual or Internal/External by subsuming in this third category, Icchā, the pure pre-cognitive, restful Desiring power of God! This is a pretty subtle lecture and I enjoyed thinking about this out loud with you. The living legend David Icke once again appears on the Outer Limits of the Truth. Icke lays out his core thesis that human beings are fragments of an infinite consciousness trapped inside a simulated reality, which he calls the matrix. He argues the true self operates outside this simulation and is constantly trying to reconnect with the entrapped fragment, while a global cult and the non human forces it serves work to block that reunification. According to Icke, this is why the biological body functions as a sophisticated computer running psychological and perceptual programs, and why the elite push so aggressively toward AI human fusion. If artificial intelligence replaces authentic human thought, the dangerous questions (Who am I? Where did I come from? Who runs the world?) never get asked. He frames awakening not as recognizing a political conspiracy, which he considers a shallow layer, but as expanding identity beyond the matrix frequency band so one actually perceives reality from outside the cage. Icke then extends this framework into mass control mechanics and the afterlife. He argues religion, orthodox science, and left versus right politics all function identically: rigid belief systems that fracture the population into compartments so the few can rule the many. He points to COVID as a dry run that woke millions, which then triggered a strategic infiltration of alternative media by voices who redirect attention to politics, Trump, and religion while avoiding the deeper questions. On death, he describes the near death experience tunnel, the light, the elders, and the life review as part of a reincarnation trap, or Wheel of Samsara, engineered to recycle souls back into the simulation through a memory wipe and manufactured guilt. His escape route is simple but demanding: recognize the trap while still embodied, stop fearing judgment from others, and refuse to identify with any of the labels the system hands you. This week's Sunday solo starts with something that caught Sarah's attention in the news — the Artemis moon mission and the astronauts who came back changed. Looking at Earth from space, small enough to disappear behind a thumb, they returned with more interest in connection and meaning. Researchers have a name for it: the overview effect. And it got Sarah wondering — what else can crack us open like that without requiring us to leave the atmosphere? That question leads her into a deep dive on near-death experiences: what they are, what the research actually shows, who's done that research (hello, Dr. Bruce Greyson and his 50 years at UVA), and why NDEs have been quietly moving from the fringe into legitimate scientific conversation. She covers what experiencers commonly report — the altered time, the life review, the overwhelming and unconditional love — and the striking aftereffects that tend to follow people home: less fear of death, more compassion, deeper purpose, heightened intuition, and a sense of mission that doesn't fade. And then she makes her case for mediumship, because here's the thing: the love that pours through in a reading? It sounds a lot like what NDEers describe on the other side. NDEs tear the veil open in one dramatic, involuntary moment. Mediumship, and any serious spiritual practice, does the same thing more slowly, more deliberately, and as a practice you can return to. And here's the part that might surprise you: you don't even have to have an NDE to be changed by one. Studying them does it too. Loss of fear of death, heightened compassion, less attachment to status or material gain, deeper intuition, a sense of purpose — these are the aftereffects. And they tend to deepen over time, not fade. You don't have to die to be transformed by an NDE. Researcher Kenneth Ring found that students who simply studied NDEs were changed in the same ways as experiencers. Dr. Penny Sartori found the same thing after 17 years as an ICU nurse. Learning about them does something. This episode counts. Mediumship is doing deliberately what an NDE does accidentally. The overwhelming unconditional love that NDEers describe on the other side is the same energy that moves through a reading.
