Oder a so gsåchd, heud müsserder hald amål widder mid mir vorlieb nemm. Supper Deemen, garnierd mid schlaun un ellogwendn Gschbrächsbaddnern. Ich habb die Beidräch mid Freud gschniddn. Hadd a mir so richdich Schbass gmachd. Gleichzeidich hadd mir die lange Greadiefbause a erlaubd, drüwer wegzumdeusch, dass ich im Momend blos a Abbendix bin. Däs is kä fränngischer Gallier, sondern der Wurmvordsadz vo unnerm Blindarm. Üwerflüssich, für nix guud und a noch lässdich, weil, wenner was hadd, nacherd brauchder a noch Aufmerksamkeid. Also bin ich känner vo denne putzich liemswerdn, gallischn Supperheldn. Was ich ja a gern mach. Ned umsonsd is ennes vo mein Liewlingsdischörds sozumsach a Subberheldnfänschörd. Also wennse schlummerd, isses höchsdns so a Ard Dorrnröschenschlåf, bloß diefer und länger. Gud drei Monadde sin edz scho vorbei, seid mein drecks Unfall. Hörd sich wie a dumms Gebabbl a? Isses awer ned. Blos dummerweise liechd all des nimmer in menner Hand. Ich muss wardd. Eefach wardd. Und während dem ganzn gewardd a noch damid leeb, dass alles, was ich mach unendlich langsam, umschdändlich und damid wenich befriedichnd is. Glebbds mer, des is meine ganz brivåde Hölle. Wenn ich jemåls a Bröggle Verschdändnis aufbring konnd, für Leud, wo Zeuch hamm du, wo mer vo ausn nedd seh kå, nacherd edz. Edz is des vo ausn ziemlich schö worrn.

Und a gleichzeidich a Fän vo gwaxnen Schdruggdurn und weerdichn, handwerglich hergschdelldn Zeuch. A Lehmsmiddl. Also im Grund häng ich scho a durchaus an Dradizzionen. Awer ehm ned blos an denne vou hier. A guudds Beischbiel is der Kaffee. Früher - also in denne Zeidn wo ich groß worrn bin - da gabs üwerall in unnern Nachbårländern enn echd guudn Kaffee. Ned legger. Awer eichndlich war genau dess ja an ned schlimm. Mir hamm ehm noch echde Unnerschied ghabbd. Wennsde nein Urlaub gfåhrn bisd, nacherd hassde fremdårdichs Essn vorgsedzd grichd un hassd unbekannds Zeuch brobierd. Was awer edz gleichzeidich a immer wieder uffkomm dud, des sin so Heibs. Früher hädd mer gsåchd, Massnbsüchose. Heud isses Lehmsschdiel. Also verschdehd mich ned falsch. Eds gibbds seid a boar Jährli awer ned blos in jeder Schdadd drei Dschinnbrenner, zwä Graafdbraumäsder, sondern a a halbs Dudzend Kaffeerössder. Wenn des edz echd handwerglich dradizzionelle Bedriebli mid Nohau sin, nacherd is dess subber un kann a inderessånnd sei. Unner Lådn is doll und mir hamm a dodål viel, brauch mer ned drüwer redd. Awer unner Lådn is a ganz schö glee und ewn ned im Zendrumm. On Inside Geneva this week: part five of our series marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Imogen Foulkes talks to Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein, who served as UN Human Rights Commissioner from 2014 to 2018. He became the first Asian, Muslim and Arab to hold the position. But did he plan a career in human rights from an early age?"No, I was far too immature and delinquent to be thinking lofty ideas and profound thoughts," he said.  But two years in the former Yugoslavia during the conflict there focused his mind. "The senselessness of it all, there's nothing that can justify killing, or destruction like that. Nothing at all," he thinks. When he took the job as UN human rights commissioner, he became famous for his tough approach. "I knew from my experience in the former Yugoslavia, that if the UN secretariat believed, I think mistakenly, that it's in the friends business, it produces catastrophic results. The UN is not there to become friendly with the member states."He spoke out wherever he saw injustice or abuse, from Myanmar, to Libya, or ISIS, and even world leaders."Someone asked me, possibly you, asked me about Donald Trump, and I said ‘yes, I think he's dangerous.' And that became the headline out of the press conference," he said.  Today, his commitment to universal human rights remains firm.  "What we're aiming at is to create a better human being. That's what we're trying to do with the human rights agenda, to improve ourselves and our conduct. To speak out and use non-violent means to protest conditions which are fundamentally unjust and unfair, and who can argue with that?"Listen to the full episode to find out more about Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein's life and career.  Please sign up for our newsletter for Swiss Democracy. In episode 6 of Kofi Time, our special guest is Zeid Raad Al Hussein. Zeid discusses his friendship with Kofi Annan and how they worked together to protect human dignity and promote human rights. Through the creation of the Human Rights Council and International Criminal Court, Kofi Annan played a critical role in establishing the mechanisms that we have today to protect human rights and fight impunity. Zeid recalls Kofi Annan's ability to draw people in to fight for the common good, never hesitating to speak his mind and push back when necessary. How can we uphold Kofi Annan's legacy and ensure that respect for human rights is not just an abstract concept but a reality? About Zeid Raad Al Hussein: Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein is IPI's President and Chief Executive Officer. Previously, Zeid served as the UN's High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2014 to 2018 after a long career as a Jordanian diplomat, including as his country's Permanent Representative to the UN (2000-2007 & 2010-2014) and Ambassador to the United States (2007-2010). He served on the UN Security Council, was a configuration chair for the UN Peace-Building Commission, and began his career as a UN Peacekeeper in the former Yugoslavia. Zeid has also represented his country twice before the International Court of Justice, served as the President of the Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court from 2002-2005, and in 2005, authored the first comprehensive strategy for the elimination of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in UN Peacekeeping Operations while serving as an advisor to Secretary-General Kofi Annan. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet will leave office at the end of August. The hunt is on for the world's new human rights leader.Podcast host Imogen Foulkes asks former United Nations human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein what it is like to do the job.“Most of my time I was writing to governments, talking to them, calling them, but I had no hesitation of going public when I felt we needed to go public,” says Zeid.  Does he have any advice for a new commissioner?“Navi Pillay (former high commissioner) said the worst mistake you can make is to privilege any country. Don't privilege any particular group or country,” he recalls.  And how risky is calling countries to account?  “Rather than you worry about how they may react to your statements, they ought to be worrying about what you might be saying about them,” answers Zeid.In this episode of our Inside Geneva podcast: Geneva-based humanitarian aid agencies are soul searching as they stand accused of institutional racism. What's behind the accusations, and how are they being addressed?
