It's time for round two of Queens of the Drone Age's recap of Melbourne International Games Week! And when we say games we mean GAMES. In this episode, Tegan talks about two Aussie indie games that caught her eye - the Meccano-esque transportation challenge of Mars First Logistics and the 1950's bartending game Six O'Clock Swill.Keeping up the celebration of Aussie indies, Rae considers leave horse heads in beds with The Godfeather. (Not really - the game is actually a mafia pigeon roguelike where you poop on people). Plus, Amanda celebrates the culinary classics in the Singaporean-made game Cuisineer, and incorrectly speculates that the HTC Vive Focus 3 VR headset could lead the Queen's to beat Rad's high score in virtual reality experience games like Zero Latency. They can't, though. No amount of hardware would help them. This is not Rad writing this.Full show notes can be found on the Queens of the Drone Age website. Learn more about your ad choices. Fudfood and I share our thoughts on what stood out to us from the opening night of Gamescom as well as the new free-roam PVP VR game at Zero Latency in Abu Dhabi
We're back with a bunch of interesting local news! Zero Latency had the best VR experience we've ever tried; We tested out the UAE-based Playkey.me cloud gaming service and were blown away with how well it worked; and ESTAZ.GG just launched bringing esports players daily and weekly challenges which promises to hone their skills while winning some rewards as well. Oh, and Fudfood finished playing Metroid: Samus Returns.
On this episode, Vineet talks to VR entrepreneur Parineeta Rajgarhia. What is up SharkNation! This week Luke and Mark sit down with serial entrepreneur, Ronan Cunningham to talk about leveraging innovation to start businesses. Ronan started off his career in Law, but after being let go he found himself participating in a course in UCD focused on applying innovation to business problems. Ronan took an idea from the course and spun it into his first business. FootTee - a football based golf game. The business took off from the start and it has led Ronan to build other 'experience' businesses including his latest venture, Zero Latency - a virtual reality business - based in Dublin. Key takeaways: 1. You don't have to start a business in a field you already work in, Ronan was new t the experience business but took action after extensive research. 2. It's never too late to pivot. Ronan talks about how people get on a certain track in life and feel like the only way to succeed is to continue on the path you are on. He uses the legal profession as an example. Ronan's career is proof that this is not have to be the case. 3.Double down on what works. Ronan laments not expanding faster on his first business once he found product-market fit. 4. Leverage other people's great ideas if possible. Ronan's new venture is a franchise from an Australian based company. By working with them, he is leveraging their R&D dollars and applying a winning model to the Irish market. We now have a date for when the next generation of Microsoft Windows will be revealed, with the official invitations going out for the event on June 24, or just after midnight on the 25th here in Australia. CEO Satya Nadella and Product Chief Panos Panay will reveal all. My bet is a shift away from selling boxed Windows software and onto a free new upgrade to a single unified version for all users. We'll find out if I'm right in three weeks time.https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/eventTwo Australian broadband providers owned by the same parent company have been fined by the Australian Federal Court for making misleading claims on NBN evening speeds. The action, brought by the ACCC against Vocus-owned Dodo and iPrimus, found the brands chose the best speeds it had observed on its network to promote its services between March 2018 and April 2019. Justice Murphy said in the decision that the companies chose not to use industry best practice methodologies which it admitted did not give due ground for "Typical Evening Speed" statements. Dodo will have to pay $1.5M and Primus $1M in fines. As noted by ZDNet, the latest ACCC broadband speed report places Dodo and Primus last among all resellers for average download speeds.https://www.zdnet.com/article/dodo-and-iprimus-penalised-au2-5m-for-misleading-nbn-evening-speed-claims/Samsung is starting a new campaign to promote its Galaxy A Series smartphones as 'A for Awesome' with a target toward Gen Z teens and young adults. Normally I wouldn't consider this particularly newsworthy, but the campaign is including some nice profiles of young Australians achieving greatness in their fields, from 16-year-old skateboarder Ethan Copeland, pop duo Cat & Calmell, and social entrepreneur Daniel Flynn. It's also a positive to see a big campaign for more affordable devices. Guests: Giles Tongue, CEO at Chatable Apps; Andy Bellavia, Director of Market Development at Knowles Corp Topic: The Quest for Near-Zero Latency in Hearables Giles and Andy join Dave this week on the podcast to discuss one of the opportunities that AI-based hearing solutions present, solving speech-in-noise, as well as the biggest challenge that these solutions face, which is latency. For a long time, solving speech-in-noise has been at the top of the list of many hearing professionals' wish lists, and finally, we might be at the onset of a new wave of solutions that can harness the power of artificial intelligence to help solve this issue. These solutions however, rely on complex calculations and processing power, which can cause latency, or a time-delay while the sound is being processed. The three talk through some of the ways and techniques that latency can be reduced to the point where it's indistinguishable by the wearer, and how these kind of solutions might ultimately manifest in the market. I had the awesome pleasure of having a chat with Tristan (Director and co-founder of Ultimate Virtual Reality) from the upcoming Zero Latency, Gold Coast last week! It was so incredible getting to see the space in its infancy and chatting about the epic vision Tristan and the rest of the gang have for this place! Not only is it the first time Gold Coast gets to experience Zero Latency, but he shared some plans for a whole extra suite of Ultimate VR experiences and even social and creative hubs. This place could be something truly special for the Gold Coast and I can't wait to watch it grow into its full potential! And we won't have to wait long! They are aiming to launch as soon as late October!!Hope you guys enjoy the chat as much as I did and watch this space for more updates on this epic project! Enjoy :) - Karl (The Lyrical) Smith

^___^ Cuento, cuentos, historia, historias, relato, relatos, audiolibro, audionovela, audiorelato, voz, voz humana, Dick, hilip K. Dick, ciencia, ciencia ficción, ficción, ficcion, literatura, juguete, navidad, reyes, magos, papa, Noel, jupiter, Ganimedes, guerra, capitalismo, comunismo, mercado, manipulación, control, silent weapons,

^___^ Cuento, cuentos, historia, historias, relato, relatos, audiolibro, audionovela, audiorelato, voz, voz humana, Dick, hilip K.
