Here is a video where RAPTOR under instructions from the NSW Police Commissioner are told to target the Charity Ride. There were 97 social motorcycle riders and one Hells Angel. This was the 26th Good As Gold Charity Ride organised by members of the Hells Angels Brisbane. Politicians said with the introduction of VLAD that only 1% members would be targeted under the legislation. Here is proof of yet another blatant lie by the politicians. Our guest on Episode 56 of the Rider Magazine Insider Podcast is Kyle Petty, a NASCAR racing icon and founder of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. Petty is part of a multi-generational stockcar racing dynasty that included his grandfather Lee, his father Richard, and his son Adam. Petty is known for four wheels, but he's been riding motorcycles since he was a boy and loves putting on the miles. Since 1995 he has organized the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, an annual motorcycle ride that raises money to support Victory Junction and other causes for children with chronic illnesses and conditions. The 27th Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America kicks off on April 29 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and runs through May 5. We encourage listeners to visit KylePettyCharityRide.com and make a donation. You can follow the ride on social media, and if you're in the area, you can meet up with the group at one of their stops.

We chat with Udo Wattendorf, one of our BMW Motorrad employees responsible for the development of BMW Motorrad helmets. Udo has travelled far and wide but left his heart in South America, where he supports a project in Bolivia to get kids off the street, put a roof over their heads and teach them the skills they need to survive out in the world. Udo tells us his story but we’re sure there are other inspiring ones out there within the BMW Motorrad community. If you’re involved in a charitable project, making a difference with your BMW-riding friends, then let us know and we’ll try to feature you on our social media channels, and who knows, maybe in a future Ride and Talk podcast! The FIM was founded in 1904 in Paris, and began sanctioning races across Europe. In America, Indian Motorcycles was established in 1901, and when Harley joined the scene in 1903, the FAM was created and began to sanction events in the States, until the organization changed it’s name in 1924 to the AMA. A decade later, in the UK, off road trials were gaining popularity for good reason, and quickly transformed into scrambles, or motocross as it was known more widely in Europe. Motocross, Trials, and Scrambles all grew in popularity and participation all throughout Europe until 1966. That’s the year that Swedish Champ Torsten Hallman brought it to the USA. In 1967 the Baja 1000 took the Southwest by storm, and in 1969 the first Baja 500 was run. By the 1970s, Supercross had formed, with the first indoor race taking place in the Los Angeles Coliseum in 1972. This is where little Johnny’s story begins. Chapter 2: News-ish items - Skully Helmets are vaporware and have sadly shuttered shop - Price Point closes it’s web presence! :( - The show’s not that bad…honest! - BMW Titan - not a BMW concept! - McFarlane Toys releases prototype Daryl Dixon figurine - Harley and the Davidsons set to premiere on Discovery Channel on Sept 5th. - Honda CBR250RR… not interested. - BRP Sues somebody, comes away with an electric Spyder concept - Jever’s Harley build made me Jever all over the alley behind my house. Chapter 3: Feeling left out There’s an e-mail circulating around the Moto Pod-o-sphere. I feel left out, but I haven’t heard Cafe Racer or Cleveland Moto weigh in yet, so maybe I’m not the only one who missed it. I need and want your e-mails. Well, not really, but I do like them. This opens a question of self-imposed gender equality. Chapter 4: Upcoming events in the Los Angeles area. Rides, clinics, track days, etc. etc. Conclusion: Stay alert for booby traps. For reals. www.creative-riding.com www.creative-riding.tumblr.com creativeridingpodcast@gmail.com @Creative_Rider www.facebook.com/CreativeRidingPodcast
Proof Positive - Motorcycle Riding Good for the Soul Anyone who rides a motorcycle can probably tell you that riding a motorcycle isn’t just a form of transportation, it’s an experience. When you return from a motorcycle ride, you are energized and happy. Many motorcyclists refer to riding as their therapy. Feel bad? Need to sort out a problem? Ride. It works. Motorcycle riding releases endorphins which improve moods. Simple as that. Studies show that riding motorcycles, both on and off-road, have both physical and mental health benefits. In 2010, Tohoku University in Japan jointly with Yamaha conducted research in to the relationship between brain stimulation and riding motorcycles. Researchers measured brain activity to confirm whether riding a motorcycle activates the PFC, the prefrontal cortex. The PFC has been linked to a persons planning behaviours, personality development, decision making and social behaviour. Then they examined the effect of using a motorcycle daily. They found that the bilateral PFC was activated when riding a motorcycle and that daily riding is beneficial for improving various cognitive functions and for reducing mental stress. A study on the “Quality of Life of Recreational Off-Road Riders” in 2010 as published in the Health & Fitness Journal of Canada, concluded that “habitual off-road riders appear to have relatively high physical and mental functioning, possibly as a result of their participation in recreational off-road riding. Both ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) and ORM (Off Road Motorcycle) riders revealed high QOL (Quality of Life) based on their MSC (Mental Component Scale) scores.” and “Overall, off-road riders had higher levels of physical functioning than Canadian population norms”. Changing & Saving Lives With Motorcycle Therapy - Dave Frey from Veteran’s Charity Ride In this episode Jim talks with Dave Frey, the founder of Veteran’s Charity Ride to Sturgis. VCR takes wounded and amputee veterans on motorcycles, trikes and sidecars from Los Angeles to the Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota.
