It's the first episode of Season 4, episode 37. A last minute cancellation turns into a visit from Mr. Dibbs. Dibbs = good time and on this episode what was supposed to be a short 15 minute episode where Tai, Adrienne and Dibbs share their top 3 favorite musicians and top 3 favorite movies, turned into a 4 hour long discussion about many things and even includes a pop-in from Slug & Dibb's better half, Laura. We managed to trim the episode down to an hour and a half. Deja-vu! Tai just doodles in this episode while they end up having discussions about lab grown meat, Walmart, Outer Range, Bulldogs, Josh Brolin, Denzel Washington, knives, brass knuckles, Ka, highest price paid for a record and Chipotle....and Slug drops in inverted. An hour & and half or more was chopped from the episode that broadcasts, so even though you'll miss out on a ton of laughs from that, you can be assured that you're gonna still have a great time listening in to the hour and a half that we're presenting ya with. China Manufacturing PMI data reported an uptick in activity for the month of September - the first expansion since June. But while the country's manufacturing activity grew, services and new factory orders contracted, continuing to put pressure on China's overall economic growth. Portfolio manager Eileen Dibb joins us today to unpack what's next for Asia and look at how advisors and investors could position themselves in this region for the months ahead. Ian Dibb knows firsthand that from the ashes of your crucibles are born the strength and wisdom to not only survive – but to live a life dedicated to serving others. Dibb's most devastating moments were the deaths of his sister and his mom within months of each other – life-rattling tragedies that birthed his calling. He turned his pain into purpose after struggling to settle the estates left behind by his loved ones – an experience that led him to launch keylu, an online portal that helps users organize their assets for those they'll one day leave behind. As he explains, his efforts are about more than just keeping important documents in order. They're also about preserving important memories that give your legacy is greatest meaning. Portfolio manager Eileen Dibb examines investment opportunities in Asia-Pacific equities, as well as the impact of trade relations and economic recoveries throughout the region. Eileen notes that China has made a big push in response to climate change over the last decade. Steel production was a major polluter, and the country has focused heavily on improving air quality. China is a big investor in and producer of solar energy and is also focused on improving wind power resources. Eileen’s focus in this area is on hydrogen, and where it fits into renewable energy, as a longer-term play. China and India have populations of billions, so investing in Asia has the potential to benefit from product proliferation: introducing an item to a population this vast can create a huge opportunity. Recorded on February 11, 2021.

Portfolio Manager Eileen Dibb discusses the outlook for the Asia-Pacific equity markets and where she is finding opportunities overseas. She dives deeper into the impact of the recent U.S. Elections, the effects of COVID-19 on Asian investments, and she speaks to specific sectors and trends and her investment philosophy. Eileen also expands on her Japan mandate. Eileen says the Japan fund is a great way to look at one market and the interesting thing about this country is it is large and developed and has great governance. She likes Japan because it is a low risk way of investing in growth. She also touches up the effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, specifically the November announcement of the effectiveness of the vaccine. She says the news created a big wave and changed the game for her in terms of what she is looking at. Now, she is looking two to three years out on the horizon. But she says it will take some time for the vaccine to be rolled out. However, Asia being a cyclical market, this could also help it over the next 12 months. Recorded on December 11, 2020

Eileen Dibb shares her Asia-Pacific outlook on which countries and sectors are performing well, and describes the impact political events, from the U.S. election to a new Japanese prime minister, may have on the region. Eileen also gives an update on the current positioning of Fidelity AsiaStar® Fund and Fidelity Japan Fund and how it might change. Chinese stocks and the economy have rebounded strongly, but have been cooling off slightly lately, Eileen notes. Relative to the rest of the world, China’s economy is strong, partially as a result of having been first-in, first-out with the coronavirus. Japan is a very cyclical market, and the auto and retail sectors have started to see a rebound. Eileen has shifted her weightings and is allocating more than the benchmark to Japan, and has added exposure to trucking and commodities. Recorded on September 18, 2020.
Portfolio manager Eileen Dibb provides her outlook for the Asia-Pacific region as fears of a second wave of COVID-19 cases grip markets. Eileen manages Fidelity AsiaStar® Fund and Fidelity Japan Fund, and going into the pandemic, the portfolios were positioned to hold more stable companies in industries with positive trends. Now Eileen is looking for stocks that she believes will perform with or without the virus, and is searching for options such as companies with online solutions that aren’t as likely to be affected by a disruption of brick-and-mortar stores. India is one of Eileen’s favourite places to invest, because she believes it has great long-term potential. However, the short term for India isn’t as promising, because the country wasn’t as strongly positioned going into the virus as other countries. India has lagged in infrastructure capabilities in the past, but if stimulus could be aimed toward infrastructure, the country could see great long-term benefits. Recorded on July 10, 2020.

This is a combination-type episode of the podcast. In one part we will have a sort of "part 2" to our episode on the Basic Doctrine on Prophets and Revelation. we will also address Stephanie's new workbook, Learn Of Me, which is a great tool for missionaries. This workbook helps support the effort to keep the challenge of President Russell M. Nelson to study Jesus Christ from the Topic Guide.
Tom Dibb, multi-instrumentalist and singer songwriter of merit is bookending the show this week. Live from Grand Chapel Studios. It's a sound of alt-country or could indeed spawn a new genre of Briticana, if that makes any sense. It certainly will once you listen to this aspiring artist. Join us as we head to South East England for the sounds of Tom Dibb. Tobin becomes tetchy this week as Richard introduces Belbury Poly to the show. Despite Tobin's love of all things literary, he denounces Chanctonbury Rings as a derisory reading of a novel to music. Phillistine that Tobinis, Richard thinks he's completely missed the point. However, to redress the balance, Tobin brings us Lord Cut Glass with his Gaelic lilted vocals and interesting musical phrasing. There is some pronunciation argument here. It's a hands down winner and a firm placement in the FTBOTRB Jukebox of Fame. New Music Selection Tobin, as ever, painfully dedicated to New Music as he is, brings Storme's latest track to the studio. It's a stark reminder that we aren't in control of our planet as much as we think we are. Jamiroquai wrote about this nearly 30 years ago which raises the question is Storme late to the party. And will her track be anywhere near as influential? Following on from Richard's personal vinyl party on our Patreon channel where he played the new EP from Squid, we play the excellent track The Cleaner direct from the vinyl in the studio. Become a Patron of the show to hear more from this must-hear band. Another pre-release track from Mike Pope on the show this week, just ahead of eagerly awaited LP later this month. From the impressive stable of Blind Owl Records in San Diego, it's currently our most anticipated recording of 2020. Finally, vocal melody masterclass is conducted this week by Thao & Mirah. Featured before on the show in an entirely different guise, this track demands attention in a way that few songs have the ability to do. Join us this week as we mine our way to the bottom of the record box.

This week's guest is author Stephanie Dibb Sorensen. We talk about her life growing up, the journey to meeting her husband, her love of study and teaching, as well as the trials and joys of motherhood. We also discuss her new book, "Learn Of Me", a study guide to help us grow closer to the Savior. Stephanie is brilliant, open and so insightful.
In 1979, the first Latter-day Saint edition of the Bible was published. Notably, it included a "Topical Guide with Selected Concordance and Index." Approximately 100 Church Education System teachers and about the same number of returned missionaries at Brigham Young University assisted in the process of gathering scriptural references for a long list of categories. Subsequently, several committees continued the process of compiling, organizing, and categorizing this large collection of topical verses.1 This tool was designed as a significant resource to aid church members in a more purposeful, robust study of the scriptures. Though not exhaustive, the Topical Guide provides just under 3,500 categories with reference to over 50,000 verses of scripture across the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. Beginning in 2017, President Russell M. Nelson extended challenges to the members of the Church to study Jesus Christ across the Standard Works. He invited them to begin their study by carefully reading everything under “Jesus Christ” in the Topical Guide.2 By far its largest category, a study of “Jesus Christ,” includes 57 subcategories with more than 2,200 scripture references. President Nelson stated that completing this course of study changed his life, and to all those who would take the same challenge, he promised an increased love for the Savior and God’s laws, a desire to keep the commandments, and power to overcome temptation and danger.3 Stephanie Dibb Sorensen teaches as adjunct faculty in the Department of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. She primarily teaches the Living Prophets class, and while inviting students to heed prophetic counsel, she initiated a personal course of study based on President Nelson’s Topical Guide challenge. By enhancing her study with teachings of living prophets and religious educators, Stephanie created a study guide to help others undertake a similar study experience. The result was Learn of Me, an annotated study workbook of Jesus Christ in the Topical Guide, published by Covenant Communications in October 2019. President Ezra Taft Benson once testified, “To learn of Christ necessitates the study of the scriptures and the testimonies of those who know him.”4 The Learn of Me workbook includes the full-verse citation of the listed scripture references across all 57 subtitles, supplemented with quotes from prophets and apostles, general authorities, and gospel scholars. It also includes reflection questions, definitions, suggestions for further study, prompts for family discussion, recommended hymns and videos for each topic, and plenty of space to take notes. Beautiful artwork from James Tissot depicts scenes from the life of Jesus Christ in each chapter. An appendix outlines a chronological course of study through the key events of Christ’s life across the four gospels. These combined resources provide a convenient tool to complete the prophet’s challenge and come unto Christ through the study of all scriptures listed in the Topical Guide and related modern revelation. After the completion of the updated LDS-version of the Standard Works, including the new Topical Guide, Elder Boyd K. Packer made the following prophecy: The older generation has been raised without them, but there is another generation growing up. The revelations will be opened to them as to no other in the history of the world. Into their hands now are placed the sticks of Joseph and of Judah. They will develop a gospel scholarship beyond that which their forebears could achieve. They will have the testimony that Jesus is the Christ and be competent to proclaim Him and to defend Him.5 This personal testimony is the goal of the Learn of Me study workbook. "If the circus is coming to town and you paint a sign saying "Circus coming to the showground Saturday", that's advertising. If you put the sign on the back of an elephant and walk into town, that's promotion. If an elephant walks through the mayor's flower bed and the local newspaper writes a story about it, that's publicity. And if you get the mayor to laugh about it that's public relations. If the citizens go to the circus, you show them the many entertainment booths, explain how much fun they'll have spending money at the booths, answer their questions and ultimately they spend a lot of money at the circus, that's sales. And if you planned the whole thing, that's marketing." Welcome to episode 117 of Screw it, just do it. I'm your host Alex Chisnall and on today's show, it's my pleasure to welcome Allan Dibb. Alan is a serial entrepreneur, marketeer, technology expert and number one best-selling author of the book 'The one-page marketing plan'. Now, when I heard about this book I thought we all need to know about how to get new customers, make more money and stand out for the crowd. I didn't realise Alan lived in Melbourne, Australia but it's not a problem, got him on the phone and recorded a show for you. Before we dig into that I would just like to say a massive thank you to everybody who has subscribed and downloaded the show this week - we hit a high of number three in the iTunes chart which blew my mind! The only two shows above us were Rob Moore's 'Disruptive Entrepreneur' and buy some strange quirk of fate, I was with Rob last weekend at his business building conference. And number one, surprise surprise, was Gary Vaynerchuk - never going to shift him from the number one slot are you?! So, the UK and the US number one business podcasts were ahead of mine, so a huge thank you for anybody listening now who has subscribed to and downloaded our show. I never knew that was possible, it means the world to me. It means more people get to hear the Screw it, just do it! message, more people get to be impacted, and can help to start and scale their businesses. So a huge, huge thank you!
