So, let's talk about why Robert F. Kennedy Jr. should not be the Secretary of Health and Human Services if we want to avoid another public health disaster… Did you know that RFK Jr. was one of the twelve people dubbed the “Disinformation Dozen” responsible for over 50% of misinformation in the United States during the height of the pandemic? A lot of people like RFK Jr. for his advocacies on artificial food and the environment, and I have nothing against that; I believe those things are important. But if we're going to have a conversation about health-related initiatives, I will not just sit here quietly as if I'm okay with him being appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. Let me make this clear: I am not okay with this guy being the Secretary of Human and Health Services. There are people who are no longer here to listen to this episode because they passed away due to misinformation because of the likes of people like RFK Jr. But let's be honest, despite his contribution to misinformation, some people might still not understand where I'm coming from. In July 2020, just as we were finding our sea legs with this podcast, Imran Ahmed joined to discuss the state of disinformation occurring around the world. On August 4, 2021, Dr. Joseph Mercola posted a YouTube video announcing that within 48 hours, his entire website, including 15,000+ published articles, would be gone. How could one of the most influential, modern-day natural health advocates reach a point where he felt forced to remove his entire library of content, articles and videos that have changed countless lives for the better? With the removal of his site and online store, what happens next? What message does this send to those who promote the scientific evidence behind: dietary patterns far superior to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans?nutritional supplements, botanicals, or essential oils that support better mental, physical, and emotional heath?risks associated with medical therapies that many doctors don't know about? How did this even happen? The Biden Administration and the Center for Countering Digital Hate How did Dr. Joseph Mercola and 11 others become part of a targeted group, dubbed the Disinformation Dozen? Most people first heard of this influential group of alternative health advocates from White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. How dare they try to help the public make an informed decision. It wasn't the White House that came up with a report on this group. Instead, it was an activist organization called the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH). The CCDH has close ties with the progressive movement in the United States. The CCDH published a “report,” which is more of a baseless smear campaign against 12 online sources of vaccine-related information, including the risks of vaccination. From what I've seen of the content they produce, it's rarely published without solid scientific evidence to support it. Is the goal to do away with natural medicine? At the time of writing this, blooming Goldenrod surrounds our home. The yellow plant contains saponins, quercetin, and kaempherol, compounds that lower inflammation, support urinary function, and combat the growth of yeast. Natural and alternative healthcare practitioners often recommend goldenrod extracts and essential oils for these and other health benefits. How can online misinformation be better combatted and are stricter actions on the part of social media networks needed? Ayesha also talks about the latest clinical trial results for Pfizer/BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine. New data shows that the vaccine is safe and effective in children, performs extremely well against some of the new variants and vaccine-generated immune responses last for up to six months.
