Ivan and Enrique go to the Hollywood Bowl to watch Dave Chappelle and Friends, and the gang talks about what music or comedy concert they would have wanted to see.

Xenia Rubinos could just as easily be on a bill with Flying Lotus and The Boredoms as she could with Eryka Badu and Esperanza Spalding. Her unique genre mixing of soul, punk, jazz, pop and latin music grooves planted her firmly in a musical space all her own. Following Xenia's first two albums, 2013's *Magic Trix* and the wide success of 2016's *Black Terry Cat* and the extensive touring and hustle to promote it, she visited a "curandero" who diagnosed her with "a loss of spirit". Though uninspired and unmotivated to make music, she was encouraged by her longtime collaborator and co-producer Marco Buccelli to continue working. Rubinos' new release *Una Rosa*, is her own novella. It is a rediscovery of her musical self that explores new sonic territory, leaning heavily on the use of synths and drum machines to frame her stories, reflections and expressions. Geoff Stanfield chatted with Xenia from her home in Brooklyn. Enjoy! Sponsered by Radial Engineering https://radialeng.com

Keir Worthy & Ward White IV 35th Anniversary HOT WAX PROMOTIONS! In history two young brothers Keir Worthy & Ward White IV established what would be the first of it's kind  in the region and perhaps nationally, an independent promotions company primarily dedicated to the exposure of rap music. It began in Austin TX in 1985, a day that tied them forever to the legendary Run DMC, Jam Master Jay (RIP) and rapper turned impressario, André Harrell. It ended up being the portal which led them into careers and a lifelong friendship.  WARD WHITE IV is an entertainment industry veteran whose law practice spans over 25 years.Prior to his life as an attorney, he served as the Co-National Director of Rap Promotions for Warner Bros. Records.  In addition to practicing law, he is also a writer, tv/film producer, and content creator. His career path took form in college when he and Keir Worthy, his good friend and a fellow student at the University of Texas launched Hot Wax Promotions, a pioneering independent record promotion company, that played a key role in the expansion of hip hop throughout Texas, promoting seminal acts such as Public Enemy, Ice T, Heavy D and the Boyz, and Sir Mix-A-Lot. Currently, he is the attorney for Eryka Badu.

We had the opportunity to interview MAYDAR! MAYDAR Releases her triumphant Debut 7 track EP ‘Fool Me Twice’ 24th May. **https://soundcloud.com/maydar/sets/ep2/s-MUzvw Having gained international momentum with previous singles ‘Body Bag’, ‘Taxi’ and the much celebrated ‘Sweet Talk’, the young artist releases the 1st of 2 Self-Produced and Written EP’s, laced with strong melodies, dark pop lyrics and the right amount attitude you want from your next huge Popstar. Leading the EP is the brilliant sounding ‘Lose My Mind’. Maydar, aka Alexandra Shanahan, is an exciting independently driven singer, songwriter, producer and DJ based in Stockholm producing and writing her own R&B influenced dark Pop music with themes that vary between revenge, love, anger, sex, sadness and joy. With a good run of singles and a forever growing international fanbase and over 800,000 plays on Spotify, Maydar is looking to bring her music to the UK with a run of shows and promo in June post EP. The 7 track Debut EP offers 4 brand new tracks with the lead single ‘Lose My Mind’ effortlessly mixing modern R&B and Pop with slick production and personal and relatable lyrics. Having sold out her hometown single release show in April she’s released 5 singles from 2018 the EP also includes the recent official March UK dark melancholy single ‘ Body Bag’ with the the much loved “Sweet Talk” that have both been on rotation on some of the biggest radio stations on Swedish National radio and several music critics including Line Of Best Fit. Her previous single “TAXI” was also mentioned as one of the 50 best songs of 2018 by Swedish radio channel “P3”. “I find that the music industry often wants female artists to only play one role: like for example you’re either the sexy, confident woman or the girl who sings sad songs about heartbreak. I’ve always found that annoying, and it’s one of my goals as an artist to convey a woman of many parts”. With roots in Ireland and Italy the young multi talented artist has not only built a good following in her hometown in Sweden but has began her international assault playing shows in France, Italy, Holland and of course most recently the UK. Maydar also produces and writes for others. She has released songs as a songwriter in Sweden, China and Russia and has worked with artists like Imenella (SE), Kida Kudz (UK), Jelly (SE), Cadet (UK), and Yung Titties (SE) to name a few. She has also been on tour in Ghana with the Swedish/Ghanaian afro-pop-artist Aurelia Dey. Having studied at Sweden’s famous pop music academy “Musikmakarna”, which has produced artists and songwriters of the like’s of Leon, Shy Martin, Joy & Linnea Deb and Skott and received national and international praise by music-industry profiles like Max Martin and Johan Shellback. An artist in every sense of the word, following her own path Maydar also references the likes of Banks, Cautious Clay, Doja Cat, Eryka Badu and Lykke Li of the music and careers she’d like to follow. Pyral Maxima - InDisco Rubs Summer 2013 (InDa Sessions 2)Another InDa session. Ten days later and the sunshine is back. Let’s celebrate by surrendering to the power of DISCO! This mix builds on a playlist of disco-tinged tracks from summer 2013. Funky rhythm guitars, lush strings, SalSoul samples, 70s bass grooves, diva vocal hooks… Sometimes as straight covers or re-edits, at other points looped and twisted, this is where house pays homage to the days of Studio 54 and latter 80s grooves.Tracks under the pin-spots? Well, there are two very similar tracks that sample the same section from a tune by Luther Vandross’ old band, Change. I didn’t notice the similarity until I came to Chapter the podcast file - can you spot them? Change also provide the backbone of No Dilemma, joined by Eryka Badu. Whitney is cut up to great effect on Only Child’s Down Fever - a tune I partied to with the EE gang at Glastonbury last year. This is a really great mix for daytime, poolside, or outdoor parties. It starts off with a lot of electrojazz and bossa then goes into about 40 minutes of acid jazz. The crowd ate it up as will you if you are into this sort of vibe. Contains lots of artist like Bebel Gilberto, Nicola Conte', Ed Royal, J-boogie, Eryka Badu and Mark Farina. Hope you enjoy it.
