Jace welcomes writer Matthew Rosenberg back to the show to chat about We're Taking Everyone Down With Us, his upcoming title from Image Comics. Somewhere between the smaller cast and grounded story of 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank and the fantastical setting of What's the Furthest Place From Here, you know you are going to get great characterization. Inspired in story and style a bit by spy films of the 60's, this story tells the tale of 13-year old Annalise who's left all alone in the world after he mad-scientist father is killed by a super-spy. Having only her dead father's robot bodyguard by her side Annalise has a chance to live a normal life for the first time. However, the desire to avenge the death of her father may take that chance away forever. Which path will she choose and just how will she enact her revenge if she chooses that path? Gotta read it to find out!

Brian, Darci, and Logan court controversy yet again by discussing the news about the Keanu Reeves/BOOM! Studios KickStarter BRZKR as well as the announcement of the 4 Kids Walk Into the Bank film and the 2020 Ignatz Awards. But the main event of the episode is a discussion of Ryan O'Sullivan and Andrea Mutti's Vault Comics fantasy series Fearscape. Two of our hosts liked this book, but one was definitely drinking the haterade. You'll have to listen to the episode to find out who's who. Finally, other comics mentioned in this episode include Tartarus, Akagami no Shirayukihime, Grendel Kentucky, Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix, Seance Tea Party, and Powers: The Best Ever. Adam Gorham is a comic book artist on such titles as TMNT Universe, Jughead: The Hunger, James Bond 007, Power Rangers, Marvel's Contagion and Rocket (starring Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy). He is currently drawing Punk Mambo for Valiant. Adam was born in Perth, Ontario but was raised in Mississauga, Ontario and still makes his home there now with his family. On the podcast, Adam goes through his long, strange trip from art school drop-out and disgruntled grocery store warehouse employee to working for major comic companies like Marvel, Image and Valiant. This includes finding his first gig as a comic artist on Craigslist, working with Toronto radio personality “Fearless” Fred Kennedy on Fred's self-published, three volume indie book Teuton, and eventually breaking out as the artist on The Violent, a creator-owned gritty crime book published by Image and written by Ghost Rider and Old Man Logan scribe Ed Brisson.Aaron also gets Adam's take on the New Mutants trailer since he worked on New Mutants: Dead Souls with writer Matthew Rosenberg (4 Kids Walk Into a Bank) which was the book that was likely going to launch as the movie came out before the film got delayed. Adam also tells a wild story about randomly discovering his letter envelope art in a Wizard Magazine years after the fact. This episode is sponsored by Hairy Tarantula and Bam Coffee Co. Ben sat down with writer Matthew Rosenberg (Uncanny X-Men, 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, Punisher, Annihilation Scourge) to discuss how he got into comics, running a record label, the whirlwind of the year that was 2019, and his much anticipated book Hawkeye: Freefall that releases January 1st 2020!
Fame is a fickle mistress. How do certain people stay in the public eye? Why do others burn so brightly then just go away? Danny, Blake, and Nathaniel try to figure out how Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry have survived supposed career setbacks while wondering what happened to Stifler and Jessica Alba. The show begins with a talk about the popularity of Pikachu. It may not have grossed more than Avengers: Endgame domestically but it has made more worldwide. Danny also goes over the darker side of the cute little guy. Danny and Nathaniel talked about their excitement that Matthew Rosenberg is working on a film adaptation for his classic 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank. But what is Nathaniel worried about? Nathaniel talks about why the series finale of Veep was so great while Danny and Blake try to tell outraged fans not to worry about Game of Thrones. The three also talk about the recent movies they have had a chance to see. The main segment is about the enduring popularity of some actors and the lost stardom of others. Obviously, the trio do not know how to sustain stardom, but they do have memories. Details for the latest giveaway are discussed! YOU ARE COMING DOWN WITH ME, HAND IN UNLOVABLE HAND At the end of the day, when the lonely trumpet sounds its mournful note, and you’re finally called to account for yourself; when you’re making the case that yes, damnnit, yes I did deserve to be here; that all the mindless consumption and waste, the hours spent idling, all the petty thoughts, insecurities and jealousies, all of it could be justified because didn’t we just create the greatest, the finest, the absolute zenith of podcasts? Didn’t we do that? And doesn’t that make it okay? All the tears, the loneliness and the broken dreams…it makes it okay doesn’t it? Well doesn’t it? HA HA HA!! It’s time for SILENCE! It’s the ultimate classic team of Gary Lactus & The Beast Must Die – it’s like putting on a pair of tatty old piss-stained jeans isn’t it. SO COMFORTABLE There’s some SponSORship (check my weird enunciation) featuring special guest star Charles ‘CHUCK FORCE’ Forsman. Also some admin, including a review of the recent Comic Pop-up in Brighton. There’s probably some other hot nonsense in there too. Have you seen the SILENCE! Facebook group? It’s where all the pretty young things are hanging out, just waiting to be noticed. It;s right here That gum you like is stuck to your backside. It’s a quick chat about the Twin Peaks: The Return, although for your detailed anal cysts, head to Diane. Finally! Comics! Inserting themselves deftly into the pillowy comforts of the Reviewniverse, the pugnacious pairsome talk about Corey Lews’ Sun Bakery, Your Black Friend, All New Ultimates, Shaolin Cowboy, $ Kids Walk Into a Bank, Curse Words, Squirrel Girl, and proabably some other jibber-jabber too.

Matthew Rosenberg is coming to Graphic Policy Radio! Hosts Elana and Brett are joined by Rosenberg to talk about his career in comics, his comic series 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank and We Can Never Go Home from Black Mask Studios, what it's like to write a certain Kingpin of crime for Marvel. Matthew Rosenberg was born and raised in New York City. The son, nephew, and brother of writers, he naturally spent the first 10 years of his professional life trying to avoid the same fate as them. After years of directing music videos, managing a print shop, touring the world managing bands, working at a comic shop, and co-owning a small indie record label, the fates have finally left him two choices; write comics professionally or starve to death trying. Armed only with his freakish knowledge of all things comic book and a complete lack of desire to do anything else, Matthew now finds himself a comic writer. You can follow him on Twitter @AshcanPress. We also want to hear what you have to say and what's on your mind. Tweet us questions @graphicpolicy.
