What if we're wrong about the sun? Current consensus in the astrophysics community suggests that our planet orbits a burning ball of gaseous plasma - but there's compelling evidence that suggests the sun is actually made out of liquid metallic hydrogen. If this is true, it isn't just that we have a new model of the sun. All of astrophysics, from the Big Bang to the nature of white dwarf stars and neutron stars - will have to be rewritten. For this conversation about the true nature of the sun, we bring together two titans of science and industry. First is Dr. Pierre Marie Robitaille, who is the former director of MRI Research at the Ohio State University, where he designed and tested the world's first 8-Tesla MRI machine. Today, he is the champion of the liquid sun model of stars, which he presents in his formal scientific papers (https://vixra.org/author/pierre-marie_robitaille) and at his @skyscholar YouTube channel. Next is Jim Keller, a computer architect who has been a central player in the silicon revolution at DEC, AMD, Intel, Tesla, and Apple. Today, he is developing open-source hardware for artificial intelligence at Tenstorrent, as well as a fully automated semiconductor fabrication platform that will shorten chip production timelines to hours instead of months. Our conversation here closes a strange loop, set in motion by Keller coming across an early draft of Dr. Robitaille's “Forty Lines of Evidence For Condensed Matter - The Sun on Trial” (https://vixra.org/pdf/1310.0110v1.pdf). In the next few weeks, a new loop opens - Keller is a major supporter of our Beyond the Big Bang meeting in Sesimbra, Portugal which promises to be a long weekend of busting paradigms in astrophysics and cosmology. Dr. Patrick Vanraes is a researcher at PLASMANT, University of Antwerp. He focuses on the fundamental features of in-liquid plasma and plasma-liquid interaction, as well as the physics of liquid matter. His work involves experiments, simulations and extensive review of historic work. Our conversation starts with Dr. Vanraes' important finding that plasmas can be generated in liquids without a gas intermediate. Then we explore the implications of a liquid plasma sun for all of cosmology. After all, if gases truly cannot produce blackbody spectra - as has never been shown in a laboratory - then the cosmic microwave background radiation is overdue for a new explanation. Greg Wrightstone, a geologist and expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has posted content on LinkedIn for years. It would often spark discussions and debates among his followers—and the occasional trolls. That changed last month. Wrightstone, who serves as executive director of the CO2 Coalition, says he was banned from LinkedIn for posting factual information related to climate change. His appeal was denied, leaving him without a voice on a platform where he had cultivated a significant following.Having been stripped of his ability to communicate on LinkedIn, he's now speaking out and sharing his story publicly with The Daily Signal. Wrightstone warns others about social media censorship and the consequences of limiting discussion and debate. Also on today's show, a conservative activist calls out Facebook for suppressing his posts. For more than a decade, Texas native Don Kirchoff has used Facebook to share news and information with fellow conservatives. The longtime Heritage Foundation supporter and Heritage Action Sentinel frequently posts Daily Signal stories as well as content from other conservative organizations and media outlets. But is anyone seeing them? Many of his Facebook posts that have zero likes or comments, prompting Kirchoff to take his case directly to Facebook. While that has worked in the past, he's noticed the problem more often.Kirchoff captured screenshots and shared them with The Daily Signal as well as Facebook. (The Daily Signal is the multimedia news organization of Heritage.) Kirchoff joined the podcast to explain the situation and raise awareness for other conservatives. Enjoy the show! You're listening to the Westerly Sun's podcast, where we talk about the best local events, new job postings, obituaries, and more. First, a bit of Rhode Island trivia. Today's trivia is brought to you by Perennial. Perennial's new plant-based drink “Daily Gut & Brain” is a blend of easily digestible nutrients crafted for gut and brain health. A convenient mini-meal, Daily Gut & Brain” is available now at the CVS Pharmacy in Wakefield Now for some trivia. Did you know that Rhode Island poet, Denise Duhamel, was born in Woonsocket and is known for her feminist writings. Her books including Smile, Girl Soldier, and Kinky explore American culture through humor, satire, and feminist thought. Now for our feature story: The guidance department at Westerly High School will be reduced from four to three counselors and a vacant districtwide physical education teacher position will not be filled as part of an effort to address a deficit in the School Committee's 2021-22 budget, which goes into effect on July 1. According to Cindy Kirchhoff, the district's director of finance and operations, she proposed the move to the School Committee during a meeting on Wednesday as part of package of recommendations that reduced the deficit by a net amount of $525,115. The School Committee unanimously approved all of Kirchhoff's recommendations. Kirchhoff, Superintendent of Schools Mark Garceau and the School Committee have been steadily chipping away at the deficit, which started at about $1 million after the Town Council approved an increase of just $600,000 in the annual appropriation of local tax dollars for education in the budget. The School Committee had sought a $1.61 million increase in the local appropriation and a reduction of state aid of about $220,000 also contributed to the deficit.. The budget changes approved Wednesday also include costs related to establishment of a new clinical support program for the district's special education students. Creation of the program will allow the district to teach more students in the district rather than the students attending school out of the district. This will lead to a $366,000 reduction in out of district tuition. Part of the reduction will be offset by the need to hire an additional social worker and an additional special education teacher at Westerly High School. The committee also approved creation of an additional part-time custodian position for the transportation garage and the Transition Academy. Additional savings of $172,000, Kirchoff said will be realized in the cost of employee fringe benefits due to the retirement of 11 teachers though they expect Those vacancies to be filled. Retirements of non-teachers in the district who accepted retirement incentives will require $36,700 that was not anticipated in the approved budget, Kirchhoff said. The deficit now stands at $97, 014 with The Westerly budget needing to be balanced by July 1, the start of the district's new fiscal year. For more about the coronavirus pandemic and the latest on all things in and around Westerly, head over to westerlysun.com. There are a lot of businesses in our community that are hiring right now, so we're excited to tell you about some new job listings. Today's Job posting comes from Sea Bags in Watch Hill. They're looking for a part-time retail sales associate ideally with 2 years of retail experience and customer service. Pay depends on experience.. If you'd like to learn more or apply, you can do so at the link in our episode description: https://www.indeed.com/l-Westerly,-RI-jobs.html?vjk=2742aded61e027db&advn=8743562717035863 Today we're remembering the life of Patricia Ann Loporchio who passed away surrounded by family. Pat leaves behind her loving husband, Vincent, with whom she shared a wonderful life for 63 years. They celebrated their anniversary in April. They were the proud parents of two children. her grandchildren, and her many extended family members. Pat was born in Providence and graduated from St. Xavier's Academy in Providence in 1952. Her priority was raising her children; however, she also worked for many years as a highly regarded executive assistant in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Pat's faith was an important part of her life and she was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. Her other joy was her family. Her grandchildren were by her side in the final days and recalled wonderful stories of the many special memories of their grandmother over the years. Pat will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was always thinking of others and would never consider putting herself before anyone else. Pat made every room brighter with her presence. Thank you for taking a moment today to remember and celebrate Pat's life. That's it for today, we'll be back next time with more! Ron & Paul discuss the importance of community during times of physical separation and how the economy could rebound during and after the crisis.
It's kinetic sculpture, it's haute couture, it’s . . . armor! This month, Ben speaks with Chassica Kirchhoff, an assistant curator at the Detroit Institute of Arts, about a suite of metal suits from the 1500s that were worn and jousted in by the dukes of Saxony. Emblematic of the feisty Protestant state’s chivalric past and supreme examples of Saxon metalworking prowess, by the 1700s the suits of armor had come to represent “a fulcrum between the early modern past and the Enlightenment present,” Kirchoff says. Shortly thereafter they went on display at the famous Green Vault in Dresden, a precursor of modern museums.
PART 2 - Susan Kirchoff from the Shelton Family Center called into Daybreak to talk with Spencer about the Center and how they've been impacted with COVID-19. Also, local news for 4/23/2020, it's Picnic Day and Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day.

We are chatting with Hayley Kirchoff all about healing after a breakup. We talked social media after effects and EMDR. Lots of wisdom in this episode for anyone navigating their own break up, or a break up with a loved one. Hayley has a passion for helping women embrace love again after a painful break up by completely letting go of “the one that got away.” Her own journey through therapy helped her learn that true healing comes from within, and when we feel whole and happy, we positively impact those around us. Hayley is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida and a Board Certified Counselor. She is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trained, which helps get the route of trauma and shift those negative beliefs and thoughts we hold about ourselves to more positive ones.
Unfinished. Ill-conceived. Not thought all the way through. It seemed like a good idea at the time…though perhaps at the time, the person who came up with the idea was half-baked themselves. In any case, joining us for a celebration of our most ambitious mistakes is always a good idea, no matter what time it is! This week's storytellers include: Sharon Schneiderman David R. Davis Jeremy Steve Braun Bruce Kirchoff Brett Boyce This episode was performed and recorded at Sea of Glass Center for the Arts in Tucson, Arizona, on August 1st, 2019, and is curated by Miles Schneiderman. M&C Nonprofit Marketing Talk sits down with Karin Kirchoff to discuss the skills every fundraiser needs to be successful. Karin's advice includes: Project management skills and relationship management skills are critical. These are two skillsets every fundraiser has, and they’re invaluable in nearly every role within an organization. Be curious. Always be asking “what’s next and how do we get there?” It’s important to have a vision and be in a proactive position rather than a reactive one.
