Sonntag, 29. Oktober 2023, 17.30 Uhr.Eine Lebenswege-Sendung gestaltet von Stefanie Jeller.
In the 58th edition of IndieRE Radio Corax collected an eclectic mix with a focus on synthesizer based & experimental music. Genres are fluent but we will name a few assosciated with this episode: avant-garde, synthpop, electro, slowcore, surfgoth, dark-wave post-punk and just punk. Felix Kubin tells you about his new Project CEL. We've added a bonustrack, at the end of the show, where Kubin points out one special artist from each country that is part of the IndieRE network. We start into more releases with Ursula & Jolle, who wrote songs about the work industry. We continue with personal greetings, from the (surf-)wave artists Flawless Issues, Faerbabyy & Left for Pleasure, introducing their new releases. Lake Felix published a new song after a long break, while her other project Nichtseattle tours with Tocotronic. Category »Fesch« features Team Scheiße's Schmetterling, causing butterflies in your stomach, they've also released a song on the phone causing other stuff in your stomach. We finnish the show with noisy punk straight from Halle by Sektion No Fun & Uma Vox. Sean Speer is the Editor-At-Large at The Hub, a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, and previously served as Senior Advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He and Elizabeth chat about political polarization and dig into the different theories of polarization including elite polarization and mass polarization, as well as ideological versus affective polarization. They discuss the idea of politics as a left-to-right spectrum, polarization causing artificial divides, the rise of populism, and the idea that polarization can be used as a tool for meaningful progress.Additional ResourcesInterested in learning more about political polarization from an academic perspective? This systematic review by Kubin & von Sikorski is a good place to start.Elizabeth mentions two past episodes of Wonks and War Rooms: this episode about issue ownership with Tiffany Gooch and this episode about the high-choice media environment with Jane Lytvynenko.Sean speaks about how Canadian campaign finance regimes might contribute to political polarization. This article gives a brief overview of how political parties are financed in Canada. Sean and Elizabeth spend some time discussing the link between populism and polarization. This video shows what the rise of modern populism is all about.Check out www.polcommtech.ca for annotated transcripts of this episode in English and French.

She studies political communication. Specifically, she focuses on how political opponents view and interact with one another, and the role media play in opponents' perceptions of one another. She places a special focus on studying strategies political opponents (and the media) can use to reduce affective polarization. In this episode, we talk about affective polarization and the role played by the media; where liberals and conservatives differ the most in terms of their political attitudes; the role personal experiences and facts play in political disagreements, and the situations where personal experiences might elicit respect from political opponents; political dehumanization, and interventions to reduce it; and interventions to reduce political polarization. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: KARIN LIETZCKE, ANN BLANCHETTE, PER HELGE LARSEN, LAU GUERREIRO, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, HERBERT GINTIS, RUTGER VOS, RICARDO VLADIMIRO, CRAIG HEALY, OLAF ALEX, PHILIP KURIAN, JONATHAN VISSER, JAKOB KLINKBY, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, PAULINA BARREN, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ARTHUR KOH, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SUSAN PINKER, PABLO SANTURBANO, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, JORGE ESPINHA, CORY CLARK, MARK BLYTH, ROBERTO INGUANZO, MIKKEL STORMYR, ERIC NEURMANN, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, BERNARD HUGUENEY, ALEXANDER DANNBAUER, FERGAL CUSSEN, YEVHEN BODRENKO, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, DON ROSS, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, OZLEM BULUT, NATHAN NGUYEN, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, J.W., JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, IDAN SOLON, ROMAIN ROCH, DMITRY GRIGORYEV, TOM ROTH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, AL ORTIZ, NELLEKE BAK, KATHRINE AND PATRICK TOBIN, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, NICK GOLDEN, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS P. Declamation competitions were organized by the national cultural institution Matica slovenska as early as 1928-1929 in Slovakia. All about reading poems and shortened fiction by heart in front of an expert jury and lay audience, the national contest, Hviezdoslavov Kubin, has been running since 1954.
A talk with Emily Kubin, who recently, with her co-researcher Christian Von Sikorski, did a comprehensive review of 121 studies on social media effects on political polarization. We talk about her research, why polarization is a problem, the different types of polarization (affective vs ideological), our psychology tendency to become us-versus-them in our thinking, her own opinions on what social media is doing to us, and the mechanisms by which social media may be amplifying polarization.
Episode 134: In Conversation with Kip Kubin, Tony Miracle, and Annette Strean of Venus Hum In April 2020, Brian and Sarah branched out into new territory by publishing their first-ever interview. The kind soul who agreed to talk with them (for several hours, as it turned out!) was none other than Tony Miracle, known by many for being one-third of the band Venus Hum. It was a delightful conversation covering a wide variety of musical topics, and a good time was had by all. Now, in 2021, Brian and Sarah are delighted to present a conversation with all three members of Venus Hum: Kip Kubin, Annette Strean, and of course, Tony Miracle. And what's even more exciting is that there's a brand-new Venus Hum album to discuss! First, however, the hosts have a little catching up to do with Kip and Annette. They learned a lot about Tony's musical background and history in last year's talk, so they wanted to hear Kip and Annette's stories too. They find out how everyone met and how the band came together, and the trio talk about the albums, videos, tours, and promotional appearances over the years. Then the spotlight is put on the absolutely marvelous new album from Venus Hum, Kindness Rages On. Brian and Sarah are thrilled to have the chance to tell Kip, Annette, and Tony how much they love the album, and the trio graciously answers questions about the making of the album and some of the individual tracks. If you're a fan of Venus Hum, or if you don't know Venus Hum yet but are a fan of superbly-crafted electronic music with amazingly emotive vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, you'll definitely want to listen to this conversation-- and then as soon as you're done, head over to https://www.venushum.com or https://venushum.bandcamp.com/ to pick up Kindness Rages On.
