Are you aware of how societies have perceived dementia throughout history? This episode offers a compelling look into the historical context of dementia, providing insights that are seldom discussed on most platforms.   The term "dementia" isn't new—its roots trace back over centuries, and its history is as rich as it is complex. Contrary to common belief, dementia isn't a modern condition; it has been recognized under various guises throughout history, even before Alzheimer's disease was defined in the early 20th century.    This episode serves as a reminder that dementia care is not just about managing symptoms but understanding the historical and social context that shapes how we care for loved ones today.  As we learn from the past, we can improve our approaches and attitudes toward dementia, making caregiving a more supportive and manageable experience.   Enjoy our podcast? A lot of bands are lucky enough to carve a career with one big hit. If they're even luckier, they'll ride the wave of an impactful album for decades. But for melodic metalcore heavyweights https://www.premierguitar.com/gear/rig-rundown-all-that-remains-oli-herbert-and-mike-martin (All That Remains), who are honoring their game-changing The Fall of Ideals with a full album play, it's not even their most-popular record. Following on the energy and success of that influential 2006 album, they released five straight albums that landed in the top 10 of Billboard's U.S. Rock chart. The coal fueling All That Remains' locomotive is their propulsive guitar work. The original firepower was supplied by cofounding shredmeister Oli Herbert who was originally flanked by Chris Bartlett. Current rhythm rifleman Mike Martin replaced Bartlett in 2004 and provided the classically trained Herbert a solid substratum to dance all over. That duo defined ATR's harmonious heaviness, https://www.premierguitar.com/mort-deaths-apprentice-gothenburg-metal-riffs (Gothenburg) groove, and aggressive attitude for almost 15 years before Herbert's untimely passing in October 2018 just weeks before releasing their ninth trouncing album, Victim of the New Disease. Since then, the band has continued with blazing flamethrower https://www.premierguitar.com/videos/hooked/jason-richardson (Jason Richardson) (Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin). Before All That Remains' May 10th headlining show at Nashville's Basement East, PG's Perry Bean had to pick his jaw off the floor and re-screw his skullcap on after seeing the amazing instruments both guitarists Mike Martin and Jason Richardson brought on tour. Martin detailed his beautiful https://www.premierguitar.com/gear/prs-s2-custom-24-review (PRS Custom 24)s while Richardson offered a sneak peek at his second batch of signature https://www.premierguitar.com/news/ernie-ball-music-man-darkray-jason-richardson (Ernie Ball Music Man Cutlass models). Ep 8 Jason Costa pt. 1 All That Remains Drummer, Jason Costa, joins Benny, Siobhán and Cory to talk about his music career prior to joining ATR, including his time with pioneer hardcore band, Diecast. Jason discusses a period between Diecast and All That Remains where he quit drums all together and what motivated him to pick the sticks back up. Benny, Cory and Jason also share some funny memories of All That Remains and Lost Symphony guitarist, the late Oli Herbert. Jason Costa is an American musician, best known as the former drummer for the band Diecast, and the current drummer for the band All That Remains. He has been with All That Remains since late 2006, joining almost immediately after Shannon Lucas left the band. Jason has drummed for six All That Remains albums: Overcome, For We Are Many, A War You Cannot Win, The Order of Things, Madness, and Victim of the New Disease. He is notable for being one of the few heavy metal drummers to play solely with the 'traditional grip'. Reporting in a new study published in Nature, researchers from the Department of Physiology in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and other institutions found that the SLC25A51 gene dictates the transport of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a fundamental coenzyme in cellular metabolism, to the mitochondria, where energy from nutrients is converted into chemical energy for the cell. A low level of NAD+ is a hallmark of aging and has been associated with diseases including muscular dystrophy and heart failure. PLUS CBD is turning up in more and more sports related nutrition products. Many people add CBD to their favorite pre-workouts and post-workout products. They say some people can look intimidating and that's how Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach was once perceived,  but once you get to know the guy (or at least have a chat with him) you realise just how human and similar to the rest of us he really is, so you can imagine how stoked we were to have the metal frontman co-hosting on this week's episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall ahead of their appearance down under next week supporting Parkway Drive + their own headline shows. A man with a few stories behind his belt (and his own podcast show to share them too) he was more than happy to open up  about his recent throat surgery which, if he didn't act on sooner, could have ended his career fronting the infamous metalcore outfit which he took over the reigns of following the departure of former vocalist Howard Jones, a man Jesse sparked up a long overdue friendship with not too long ago which cleared the air between the band members and consequently resulted in a wild collaboration no fan saw coming. Yes, he goes into detail about that too. Podcast host Browny also pays respect to All That Remains founding guitarist Oli Herbert who has passed away at age 44, merely weeks away from the release of the band's ninth studio album Victim of the New Disease.
