Bibiana is an absolute powerhouse in the wine industry, and we've been fans since she first appeared on the podcast 6 or 7 years ago. Her journey is nothing short of extraordinary. Raised in Medellin, Colombia, she dreamed of making wine as a teenager in a country with no real wine culture. Determined, she moved to France, graduated with honors from the University of Bordeaux, and went on to work at prestigious estates like Haut-Brion. She gained experience in Cote-Rotie with Michel and Stephane Ogier and Domaine Clusel-Roch, then moved to Alsace, Burgundy, South Africa, and finally, California. In California, she worked for renowned wineries such as Peay, Qupe, Au Bon Climat, Lynmar, and Pahlmeyer before establishing her own labels: Cattleya and Alma de Cattleya. She also co-founded Shared Notes with her husband Jeff Pisoni—yes, that Pisoni. On top of her winemaking success, Bibiana now imports coffee from Colombia to roast in Sonoma County for a dedicated customer base. Oh, and did we mention she's also a mother of two? Her wines are remarkable, known for their generous acidity, depth, and length. She was recently featured in *Sonoma Magazine*, where she was photographed by James Joiner, with the photos even developed in her favorite wine. If you haven't tried her wines yet, you're missing out! [Ep339] winesbybibiana.com cattleyawines.com sharednoteswine.com sonomamag.com

How does one begin to navigate sudden loss? International best-selling author Wayne Dyer passed away suddenly in August 2015 and today Lisa interviews his youngest daughters Serena Dyer Pisoni and Saje Dyer. Growing up with the “Father of Motivation,” as he is so compassionately known, forced Serena and Saje to draw upon deep wells of inner wisdom and consider his life-long teachings at a very personal level. Find out how we can all access the deepest wisdom of our soul, through the good times and the seemingly rough seas, to find our rightful place — essentially how to "become a host to miracles instead of a hostage to circumstances," as they write in their new book, “The Knowing.” Together they all share stories and memories about Wayne, his profound wisdom, and even the signs they believe he is sending from the Other Side. J. Abstract: The extensive use of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in experimental and clinical settings does not correspond to an in-depth understanding of its underlying neurophysiological mechanisms. In previous studies, we employed an integrated system of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Electroencephalography (TMS-EEG) to track the effect of tDCS on cortical excitability. At rest, anodal tDCS (a-tDCS) over the right Posterior Parietal Cortex (rPPC) elicits a widespread increase in cortical excitability. In contrast, cathodal tDCS (c-tDCS) fails to modulate cortical excitability, being indistinguishable from sham stimulation. Here we investigated whether an endogenous task-induced activation during stimulation might change this pattern, improving c-tDCS effectiveness in modulating cortical excitability. In Study 1, we tested whether performance in a Visuospatial Working Memory Task (VWMT) and a modified Posner Cueing Task (mPCT), involving rPPC, could be modulated by c-tDCS. Thirty-eight participants were involved in a two-session experiment receiving either c-tDCS or sham during tasks execution. In Study 2, we recruited sixteen novel participants who performed the same paradigm but underwent TMS-EEG recordings pre- and 10 minutes post-sham and c-tDCS. Behavioral results showed that c-tDCS significantly modulated mPCT performance compared to sham. At a neurophysiological level, c-tDCS significantly reduced cortical excitability in a frontoparietal network involved in task execution. Taken together, our results provide evidence of the state dependence of c-tDCS in modulating cortical excitability effectively. The conceptual and applicative implications are discussed. The seeds for Patz & Hall were planted in the 1980s when assistant winemaker James Hall and national sales manager Donald Patz struck up a close friendship while working together at Flora Springs Winery and Vineyards. The two discovered a mutual enthusiasm for a rich and compelling style of wine made by applying traditional winemaking techniques to fruit from elite, small vineyards. Inspired to combine their winemaking and sales talents, James and Donald joined with partners Anne Moses and Heather Patz, to establish Patz & Hall. Together, they turned Patz & Hall into one of California's most highly regarded wineries with a celebrated portfolio of single-vineyard wines. To achieve their goal of making exceptional limited-production wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the four founders each focused their specialized knowledge and expertise on different areas of the winery's operations. This integrated approach, along with a commitment to developing close personal relationships with many of California's finest growers—people like Larry Hyde, Lee Hudson and the Martinelli and Pisoni families—became the cornerstones of the winery's success.

Jeff Pisoni Jeff Pisoni, the winemaker at Pisoni Vineyards is our guest today on California Wine Country with Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger. Pisoni Vineyards is located in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation of Monterey County. Jeff describes going to Fresno State to learn enology but learned the craft and the artistic side of winemaking from his father. He was always fascinated by winemaking and the complex interaction between vines and the wine, while his brother was focussed on the farming. They share and balance their specialties. Dan Berger says that this is an interesting moment because winemakers are making wines beside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. There used to be some Riesling in the area and there is so little now. (Dan Berger is a huge Riesling fan.) Pisoni Vineyards is located in the Santa Lucia highlands in Monterey County. The wind coming off the ocean is cold because of the depth of the trench off the Monterey coast. This makes the Salinas Valley the lettuce capital of the world, where they have more days under 70 degrees in Summer than anywhere else in the country. This same weather is ideal for cool climate grapes at higher elevations. It's a rustic agricultural area, without a lot of tasting rooms. First they taste a Rosé from a wine brand of theirs called Lucy. It is whole-cluster pressed Rosé, which Dan Berger compares to a sparkling Rosé without bubbles. Click the logo to visit our sponsor Bottle Barn online for the best deals on wine, beer and spirits, including Pisoni wines. Next they taste a white Alsatian blend, made of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. In the early days of planting in Monterey County, these varietals were planted although others are more well-known. Dan Berger says you can taste both varieties, some anise from the Pinot Gris and steeliness from the Pinot Blanc. You might wait a year and these flavors will mature. A Family Operation Jeff Pisoni and his brother Mark and his father Gary all run the family operation. His grandparents started farming and made home wine, but his father planted grapes in 1982 and his passion for wine started as a collector in the 1970s. He just wanted to make wine and jokes that he planted the vineyard because he was drinking his wine collection too quickly. Jeff learned hillside viticultural techniques in Europe. He tried six dry wells before he found enough water for the vineyard. When his father planted grapes in these locations, people were skeptical. Dan Berger says it takes a crazy pioneer to do what he did. Jeff and his brothers grew up around the lettuce fields. He was interested in the science and chemistry and took a degree in enology at Fresno State and he learned the craft from his father. Dan Berger mentions that there used to be some Riesling in Monterey County and it would be a good place for it still today. When Jeff was fresh out of college, they were working with a winery that helped them make wine. He knew he needed experience and stayed in the area so he could learn from the wine community around him. Also, there were a lot of refrigerated trucks around for the vegetable business, which they used to bring the grapes to the winery in Sonoma County. Also, all the cork and glass suppliers are all in the area. They have a facility in Rhonert Park, custom built to their specs. The last wine tasted is a Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir. Jeff's father Gary Pisoni was planting Pinot Noir while others were still planting Cabernet in Monterey County. Dan Berger says the key thing with Pinot Noir is to pick at the right date, not too early or late. In Santa Lucia Highlands, with all the wind, you have to walk the vineyard twice a day, in order to get the harvest date right.

Meet Mark Pisoni. He's a 3rd generation farmer and son of legendary winemaker Gary Pisoni of Pisoni Vineyards. While Gary is larger-than-life, Mark is quietly building his own legacy, as grape grower extraordinare, managing what some call Grand Cru vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands: Pisoni, Garys' and Sobranes. For Mark, it all comes down to farming, nature, wine and family. He farms sustainably, has a beneficial insect insectory at the Pisoni ranch, and is also a beekeeper. On top of all that, Mark is a devoted husband and father. We first met Mark more than 15 years ago when we filmed an episode of our NBC TV show In Wine Country. We are thrilled to be back with Mark, this time in his home wine cellar, surrounded by great bottles, both consumed and still aging. If these bottles could talk!

On this episode of The Big Talk podcast, we're talking about our Knowing—our inner compass, that quiet voice inside of each of us that gently nudges or pulls us in the direction we should be going. For this conversation, I am honored and super excited to be joined by the incredible Dyer sisters — Saje Dyer and Serena Dyer Pisoni. Serena and Saje are both authors who were born and raised in South Florida and are the daughters of the late Dr. Wayne Dyer. Serena attended The University of Miami, where she graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in religious studies and international relations. After taking time off to travel the world with her father and visit numerous Holy and religious sites, Serena wrote her first book, Don't Die With Your Music Still In You, which has appeared on several bestseller lists. Saje now lives in New York, where she graduated from NYU with a Master's degree in psychology. Saje also often traveled with her dad to speak to his audiences, and she appeared on his PBS special. She is the author of a children's book titled Goodbye Bumps! that tells the true story of how she was able to heal herself as a child through the power of the mind. Together, these sisters have co-authored and published their most recent book, The Knowing: 11 Lessons to Understand the Quiet Urges of Your Soul. This book is Saje and Serena's voyage from loss to understanding; how they learned, forgot, and rediscovered their Knowing; and how we all can discover ours as well. In this episode, we'll explore: What it was like to lose their dad and how it led to them deciding to write a book together How they define your Knowing and how they came to find their own Knowings amid their grief and suffering The power of your thoughts, gratitude, and releasing with love How to move into a space of receiving, surrendering, and being present in the moment Creating a legacy and modeling that for your children Serena's current favorites — Book: Shibumi, Speaker: her dad, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and Podcast: The Big Talk Saje's current favorites — Book: Harry Potter and The Untethered Soul, Speaker: her dad, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and Podcast: Dr. Wayne W. My uplifting encounter with Serena Dyer Pisoni to discuss her new book, The Knowing, is a conversation that will linger with me for a while. Like so many, Wayne Dyer's books and teachings were the gateway to my spiritual journey during my 20s, so it was an honor to unpack the significance of some of his most significant philosophies with his daughter, a spiritually astute teacher in her own right. Info: serenadyer.com and sajedyer.com
We're all born with a “knowing,” but few get to revel in that gift consciously as a young child like Serena Dyer Pisoni was fortunate to. Her father, Wayne Dyer, the “Father of Motivation” and author of 40 books (including 21 New York Times bestsellers) lived out his dharma without apology and inspired his children to do the same. It's little surprise then that Serena's new book, The Knowing: 11 Lessons to Understand the Quiet Urges of Your Soul (which she co-authored with her sister), resonates with you well after you've turned the last page. In the context of Serena's rock bottoms and challenges, The Knowing's energy transmutes from an act of surrender to that of a true warrior. Even when everything around is pushing against you, the ability to return to love and kindness is a true testament to Serena's depth of character and trust that the spiritual path is not always a serene one. Death should not be feared because we cannot forget to live. Her father's death in 2015 pushed Serena and her family to embody his teachings and messages from a new place of absolute faith. To this day, he continues to express his knowing – both to Serena, her family, and even myself! In the episode, I'll share how Wayne Dyer's instructions came up for me during a recent meditation download. Serena's heart-opening reflections on life, death, and the lessons we receive, from meditations at an altar, to interactions with an Uber driver, are all invitations to send love – without attachment to an outcome – out into the planet. I'm sure you'll agree we could all do with a little extra right now. If Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has helped you as much as he has helped me, you will love reading the newest book from his daughters Serena Dyer and Saje Dyer titled “The Knowing” which talks about life after Wayne's passing, stories growing up in the Dyer house, and practicing Wayne's teachings during life's biggest challenges. I'm so proud of how Saje and Serena wrote a book that goes deep into their own lives the same as their father did when he shared his teachings from Serena's husbands legal situation to Saje's son's birth. I loved hearing more details about Wayne and Marcelene‘s separation and evolution of their marriage which was my biggest point of curiosity after reading "I Can See Clearly Now" and listening to Wayne's last recorded lecture series "I Am Light" on Hay House's app. I didn't realize Hay House was publishing a podcast where Wayne answers calls from listeners and I'm looking forward to hearing that after discovering its existence in The Knowing! My life has gotten so much better since discovering Wayne Dyer and I'm grateful his family is continuing sharing his message in a way that resonates with me!
Stefano Brambilla Pisoni.

3rd generation Salinas Valley vegetable grower Mark Pisoni credits much of his success to the team he has around him.
This land has an identity. These mountains, this soil, the rocks, the quality of air and the wind. All these traits contribute to a character unique to this very part of the earth. Our goal as a family is to work with nature, through farming and crafting wines, and to preserve this identity in wines that express this very site. The personality of this land was first recognized when Gary Pisoni began planting grapes in 1982 — some of the very first in this region. Each year we learn more about the characteristics of our vineyards, farming and winemaking to steadily improve the sustainability of what we do, and the wines we strive to create. We approach winemaking as an art, a science, and a craft. As such, from planting to pruning to harvesting, we work by hand, in accordance both with Burgundian tradition and our own ongoing understanding of what will best sustain this land we love and respect.
Currently focusing on Sonoma County, Napa Valley and the overall Wine of California appellation, each glass embodies the soul of the vineyards, orchards, and farms that make up this bucolic California landscape.Bibiana cherishes the land from which her wines emerge; so much so, she wanted a way to share it with her native country of Colombia. During an annual visit home, a casual conversation among friends sparked an idea: she could bring her wine to Colombia, blending both versions of her life with the same care she uses to blend her wines. In 2012, she created her first label, Cattleya, as an homage to her home country, naming it after the national flower of Colombia. Her newest venture, Alma de Cattleya, represents the soul of the land that gives life to her wines as well as her own soul put into each drop of wine that makes it to the bottle.

Hailing from the Pisoni family that helped put Santa Lucia Highlands on the winemaking map in California, Jeff Pisoni shares the story of his family's relationship with farming and the development of Gary's, Pisoni, and Soberanes, which supply grapes to numerous top end wineries across the state. Recounting clandestine attempts his father, Gary Pisoni, undertook to find water on the family ranch, Jeff shares how he and his brother, Mark Pisoni, grew up on the farm and now split the work with Mark managing vineyards and Jeff in charge of winemaking. Jeff describes some of the challenges of growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah in the Santa Lucia Highlands, and the ways he approaches the uniqueness that the grapes bring to his winemaking. The Pisoni Estate brand is focused exclusively on Pinot Noir.
