Latvijas Sabiedriskais medijs (LSM) atzīst, ka radio ziņu segums sabiedrības informēšanā vētras radītās krīzes situācijā nebija apmierinošs, tādēļ Latvijas Radio Ziņu dienesta vadītājs Uģis Lībietis nolēmis atkāpties no amata, norāda LSM. LSM valdes locekle programmu un pakalpojumu attīstības jautājumos Ieva Aile atzīst kļūdas gan rīcības koordinēšanā, gan lēmumu pieņemšanas ātrumā par veicamajām izmaiņām Latvijas Radio 1 programmas veidošanā. "Svētdien radio bija vienīgais informācijas avots tūkstošiem iedzīvotāju, kuri gaidīja daudz plašāku aktuālās situācijas izklāstu. Mēs to apzināmies un atvainojamies ikvienam klausītājam," uzsver Aile. Pirmdien operatīvi tika sasaukta LSM krīzes vadības grupas tikšanās, kurā izvērtēta visu Sabiedriskā medija platformu rīcība vētras laikā. Tajā secināja, ka LSM nodrošināja plašu un nepārtrauktu informācijas apriti digitālajās platformās, televīzijā un radio, ziņu dienestiem un raidījumu veidotājiem strādājot arī ārpus ierastā darba laika, bet radio ziņu segums sabiedrības informēšanā nebija apmierinošs. Neskatoties uz to, ka sakaru traucējumu dēļ arī daļa Sabiedriskā medija darbinieku bija palikuši bez saziņas iespējām, LSM salīdzinoši īsā laikā izdevies mobilizēt papildu cilvēkresursus un nodrošināt plašu aktuālās informācijas apriti dažādās platformās, tostarp iesaistot kolēģus, kuri ikdienā strādā citos satura virzienos un reģionos. Grupas tikšanās laikā secināts, ka nepieciešams uzlabot savstarpējo komunikāciju, koordināciju un proaktīvu gatavošanos dažādiem notikumu attīstības scenārijiem, kā arī vienoties par lēmumu pieņemšanas algoritmu situācijās, kad kāds būtisks ķēdes posms iztrūkst, piemēram, sakaru traucējumu dēļ. Īpaša uzmanība jāvelta radio lomai krīzes situācijās, jo radio šādos apstākļos iedzīvotājiem kļūst par vienīgo informācijas avotu. LSM norādīja, ka būtiska nozīme bija arī tam, ka vētras radīto seku mērogs, tostarp pašvaldību un iedzīvotāju skaits, kas bija palikuši ne vien bez elektrības, bet arī bez saziņas iespējām, atklājās pakāpeniski. Informācija par elektroapgādes traucējumiem un vēlāk arī sakaru nepieejamību pieauga dienas gaitā, un sākotnēji nebija pilna priekšstata par situācijas kopējo ietekmi dažādos Latvijas reģionos. Svētdien Latvijas Radio 1 programmā "Labrīt" bija papildu ziņu izlaidumi ik pusstundu. Tāpat Latvijas Televīzijas Ziņu dienests sagatavoja divus ārkārtas ziņu speciālizlaidumus plkst. 12.30 un 15.00, no kuriem pēdējais tika pārraidīts arī Latvijas Radio 1. No plkst. 16.00 līdz 24.00 radio ziņas skanēja katru pusstundu, savukārt LTV Dienas ziņu un "Panorāma" ziņu izlaidumi tika pagarināti, lai iespējami operatīvi un detalizēti ziņotu par aktuālo situāciju valstī.

Hnutí ANO má v podzimních volbách ambici získat více křesel v Senátu. Na Kladensku vysílá do horní komory ústavního právníka a bývalého děkana právnické fakulty Aleše Gerlocha. Proč se rozhodl kandidovat právě za ANO? Hostem Ptám se já byl kandidát do Senátu za ANO, ústavní právník a bývalý děkan Právnické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy Aleš Gerloch. Gerloch se o křeslo v Senátu ucházel už v roce 2018 na Praze 12 jako nezávislý kandidát bez podpory politických stran. V té době působil jako ústavní právník a prorektor Univerzity Karlovy. Jeho první pokus o vstup do politiky ale nevyšel. Jako kandidát tehdejšího prezidenta Miloše Zemana pak v roce 2019 také usiloval o post ústavního soudce. Jeho nominaci nakonec v tajné volbě podpořilo pouze 19 senátorů, proti bylo 45 ze 64 hlasujících. Přestože Gerlochovi zastánci vyzdvihovali jeho odbornost, kritici mu naopak vytýkali, že dlouhodobě vystupuje spíše jako advokát a obhájce kroků prezidenta Zemana. V horní komoře, kam tentokrát míří jako nestraník za hnutí ANO, by se známý ústavní právník chtěl věnovat zejména právu a školství. Jak sám řekl médiím, v kandidatuře ho opět podpořil i exprezident Zeman. Hlasy voličů se ale Gerloch pokusí získat mimo Prahu. Konkrétně na Kladensku, kde obhajuje mandát dosavadní senátorka Pirátů Adéla Sucharda Šípová. První kolo senátních voleb se letos koná spolu s komunálními volbami 9. a 10. října. Kraje letos nedostanou peníze na opravy silnic nižších tříd. Poprvé od roku 2015. Zprávu, která rozčílila část hejtmanů, už potvrdil i premiér Babiš. Regiony podle něj mají peněz dost. Potřebují kraje takovou podporu státu? Hostem Ptám se já byl předseda Asociace krajů, zlínský hejtman Radim Holiš (ANO). „Máte dost peněz, máte peníze na účtech, asi 150 miliard korun, tak laskavě opravujte ty silnice, nevymlouvejte se na nás. Stát má deficit, nechali jste nám díru 37 miliard na dálnice,“ vzkázal regionům Babiš v neděli ve svém videu na sociálních sítích. Odkázal mimo jiné na data o hospodaření samospráv za první půlrok, o kterých minulý týden informovalo ministerstvo financí. Kraje, obce a dobrovolné svazky obcí podle nich hospodařily v letošním prvním pololetí s přebytkem rozpočtu 60,5 miliardy korun, což představuje meziroční pokles o 6,3 procenta. Zpráva, že kraje od státu nedostanou ani korunu jako tradiční příspěvek na opravy a rekonstrukce silnic II. a III. třídy, rozčílila zejména hejtmany z opozičních stran. Ti tvrdí, že peníze na opravy nemají a lidé v regionech výpadek brzy pocítí. „Zuřím vzteky, to je pro nás asi největší zásek,“ kritizovala rozhodnutí například středočeská hejtmanka Petra Pecková (STAN). „Ale jsme v tom fakt osamoceni, Asociace krajů je totálně impotentní orgán. Babiš si absolutně dělá, co chce. A všichni jeho hejtmani mu to sklapnutím pat akceptují a ani nekřičí.“ Pecková poukazovala na to, že hejtmané za ANO, kteří vládnou v osmi ze čtrnácti regionů, se k situaci zatím vyjadřují jen opatrně. Podle předsedy Asociace krajů Radima Holiše (ANO) se bude otázka financování oprav silnic nižších tříd uzavírat až na jednání asociace v polovině září. Kraje letos na opravy svých silnic žádaly minimálně dvě miliardy korun, optimální by pro ně ale byly čtyři. Ministerstvo dopravy odmítlo, že by stát krajskou dopravu nepodporoval. Ze Státního fondu dopravní infrastruktury (SFDI) od roku 2015 poskytlo na silnice druhé a třetí třídy přes 40 miliard korun. Zároveň ministerstvo argumentuje tím, že silnice nižších tříd jsou ve vlastnictví krajů a jejich údržba a opravy jsou tedy především odpovědností jejich vlastníků. Příspěvky na běžné opravy byly podle rezortu dopravy nenárokovou a doplňkovou pomocí státu, nikoli automatickým nárokem. Kdo na opravu silnic bude mít a kdo ne? Boj o rozpočet na příští rok začíná. Ministryně financí Alena Schillerová (ANO) dnes jedná s dalšími ministry o požadavcích pro jejich rezorty. Očekávanou výši schodku zatím neupřesnila. O kolik překoná ten letošní? Hostem Ptám se já byl ekonom, člen Národní rozpočtové rady Petr Musil. Ministryně financí Alena Schillerová (ANO) se chce se šéfy dalších rezortů bavit o výdajích a úsporách na příští rok. Předpokládá přitom, že ministři přijdou s vyššími požadavky, než bude možné uspokojit. Schillerová očekává i debatu o tom, kolik peněz dávají jednotlivá ministerstva neziskovému sektoru. Podle premiéra Andreje Babiše (ANO) bude součástí vyjednávání také otázka růstu platů státních zaměstnanců nebo možnost mimořádné valorizace důchodů. Oba se už dříve shodli, že hlavními prioritami rozpočtu by ale měly být investice do dopravní infrastruktury a do zdravotnictví. Očekávanou výši schodku ministryně financí zatím neupřesnila, návrh státního rozpočtu předloží vládě do konce srpna. Premiér už v červenci řekl, že by schodek rozpočtu pro příští rok měl být významně pod 400 miliard korun. To zkritizovala opozice, podle které bude pokračovat růst deficitů na úkor budoucnosti. Dvacítka ekonomů zároveň v otevřeném dopise poslancům varovala před rozvolňováním rozpočtových pravidel. Letos stát plánuje schodek 310 miliard korun. Přes 400 miliard se dostal pouze za covidové pandemie v roce 2021, kdy dosáhl 419,7 miliardy korun. Mezi 300 a 400 miliardami byl deficit zatím pouze v letech 2020 a 2022. Vláda Andreje Babiše přitom deklarovala, že bude pracovat na postupném snižováním deficitu a zlepšování hospodaření státu. Dosavadní plán vývoje veřejných financí připravený předchozím kabinetem Petra Fialy (ODS) ale ministryně financí označila za past. Schválila proto nový plán, který počítá s postupnou konsolidací až od roku 2028. „Důležitý je konec fiskálně-strukturálního plánu, a to je v roce 2030. Což znamená po dalších sněmovních volbách. Takže možná, že tam bude nějaká past pro příští vládu,“upozornil v Ptám se já člen Národní rozpočtové rady Petr Musil. „Možná, že si tu past takto budeme posouvat, až do ní spadneme ale všichni. Protože jestli s veřejnými financemi nic neuděláme, tak ve finále na to fakt doplatíme, doplatí na to ti ekonomicky a sociálně nejslabší.“ Jsou všechny plánované výdaje skutečně nutné? VOV1 - Chiều 12/8, Sở Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch Hà Nội, Nhà hát Ca múa nhạc Thăng Long tổ chức họp báo giới thiệu Hanoi Jazztival 2026. Đây là sự kiện văn hoá nghệ thuật quốc tế được định hướng trở thành hoạt động thường niên của thủ đô. Liên hoan diễn ra từ ngày 17 đến ngày 19/9/2026 tại nhiều không gian văn hóa tiêu biểu của Hà Nội như Vườn âm nhạc Nhà hát Lớn Hà Nội, Nhà Bát Giác (Vườn hoa tượng đài vua Lý Thái Tổ), Nhà hát Ca múa nhạc Thăng Long, Trung tâm Văn hóa Nghệ thuật (22 Hàng Buồm), Bảo tàng Phụ nữ Việt Nam, Khách sạn Thăng Long Opera và các câu lạc bộ Jazz trên địa bàn thành phố như Bình Minh Jazz, Long Waits.... Phát biểu tại sự kiện, bà Lê Thị Ánh Mai, Phó Giám đốc Sở Văn hoá, Thể thao và Du lịch thành phố Hà Nội nhận định, Hanoi Jazztival 2026 được tổ chức với mục tiêu đưa Hà Nội trở thành trung tâm nhạc Jazz của Việt Nam: “Jazz Hà Nội - Giai điệu không biên giới” là chủ đề của Liên hoan lần này. Đó là thông điệp mạnh mẽ mà Hà Nội muốn gửi gắm tới bạn bè quốc tế. Hà Nội luôn mở rộng không gian đối thoại, sẵn sàng kết nối và kiến tạo tương lai bằng sức mạnh của văn hóa và âm nhạc. Ngày 18/9 là không gian của đối thoại và kết nối với tọa đàm quốc tế “Hà Nội và nhạc Jazz”, workshop “Ngôn ngữ Jazz trong âm nhạc truyền thống”…Ngày 19/9 khép lại liên hoan bằng chuỗi hoạt động Street Jazz trên phố đi bộ Hồ Gươm, chương trình “Jazz và Di sản” tại Trung tâm Văn hóa Nghệ thuật (22 Hàng Buồm)… Liên hoan dự kiến quy tụ nhiều nghệ sĩ và ban nhạc uy tín đến từ Hoa Kỳ, Pháp, Hàn Quốc, Nhật Bản và nhiều quốc gia khác cùng các nghệ sĩ tiêu biểu của Jazz Việt Nam như nghệ sĩ Quyền Văn Minh, Longwaits Ensemble,... Theo nhạc sỹ Dương Cầm, tổng đạo diễn Hanoi Jazztival 2026, chương trình hứa hẹn mang đến những phần trình diễn chất lượng, là điểm hẹn hấp dẫn với người dân trong và ngoài nước: “Tham dự Hà Nội Jazztival sẽ có những trải nghiệm thật đặc biệt với nhạc jazz. Chúng tôi mang đến rất nhiều phong cách khác nhau từ Jazz Standard đến phong cách Modern Jazz, rồi dân gian kết hợp với nhạc Jazz, mọi người sẽ có những trải nghiệm đặc biệt. ODS by si po letošních komunálních volbách ráda udržela nejen vedení Prahy, ale i druhého největšího města. O Brno zabojuje v čele s nestraničkou a filmovou producentkou Kamilou Zlatuškovou. Vyjde straně tato překvapivá sázka? Hostem Ptám se já byla lídryně společné kandidátky ODS a TOP 09 v Brně a kandidátka na primátorku Kamila Zlatušková. Zpráva o kandidatuře Zlatuškové mnohé překvapila. Členové brněnské ODS totiž dlouho spoléhali, že dosavadní primátorka Markéta Vaňková překoná zdravotní obtíže a po osmi letech ve funkci bude chtít pokračovat. Ta ale místo toho na jaře představila jako svoji nástupkyni právě Zlatuškovou. Rozhodnutí bylo překvapivé i proto, že uznávaná filmová producentka dosud nemá s politikou žádné zkušenosti (na rozdíl od svého otce Jiřího Zlatušky, bývalého rektora Masarykovy univerzity a exposlance za hnutí ANO). Do širšího povědomí ji dostal seriál Ptáčata o segregované romské třídě na brněnské základní škole, na kterém se podílela jako dramaturgyně. V České televizi pak produkovala seriály 8. A nebo Zlatá mládež. Po odchodu z ČT založila mezinárodně uznávaný festival Serial Killer, ze kterého se nyní kvůli kandidatuře stáhla. Vedle toho Zlatušková v roce 2020 například založila vzdělávací platformu Televizní institut. Předsedá také správní radě Ženského vzdělávacího ústavu Brno, známého jako Vesna. Magazín Forbes ji pravidelně zařazuje do žebříčku nejvlivnějších žen Česka. Ke kandidatuře známou filmařku podle jejích slov vyburcoval současný vývoj na politické scéně. Zároveň odmítá, že by její jméno posloužilo kmotrům v pozadí brněnské ODS, jejíž pověst pošramotila jak bitcoinová aféra, která vedla k pádu dlouhodobého krajského lídra a exministra spravedlnosti Pavla Blažka, ale i další kauzy spojené například s machinacemi s městskými byty. Vymezuje se proti spolupráci s ANO, přitom kandiduje za ODS, která po minulých komunálních volbách utvořila s hnutím premiéra Babiše koalici v Brně. „Kandidátka, kterou reprezentuju, je úplně jiná. Co se týká rozhodnutí z minulého volebního období, já tomu z pragmatického úhlu rozumím. Pro mě je to zároveň uzavřená věc. Já se vůči spolupráci s ANO jasně vymezila. Myslím si, že v tuto chvíli ta spolupráce s ANO je problém ještě mnohem vyšší. (…) Ten ples příšer, který se tam děje ve smyslu té koalice s SPD a Motoristy, to už je pro mě no-go,“ řekla Zlatušková. In this episode, James and Ryan unpack a simple but powerful metaphor for adult romantic bonds: the red hat (emotional system), blue hat (caregiving system), and purple hat (sexual system). Drawing on attachment science from Phil Shaver, Mario Mikulincer, and Sue Johnson, they show how these three behavioral systems interact in-session and at home—and why you “can't red-hat your way into connection.” You'll hear vivid clinical examples, live-process reflections, and practical language you can bring straight to your couples, helping them see their cycle, name their hats, and take the first small blue-hat risks that change everything. 1. The Three Behavioral Systems = Three Hats Red Hat = Emotional System The hardwired system that signals inner experience—distress, pain, longings—outward. “Red” is not bad; it's the channel for “something is happening in me; I need you to see it.” Blue Hat = Caregiving System The instinct to turn toward another's distress: to be accessible, responsive, and engaged. In EFT terms, this is the responsive other—and it's what actually creates and maintains bond. Purple Hat = Sexual System The system driving touch, pleasure, and erotic connection in adult romantic bonds. Not an “add-on” after emotions are fixed, but a co-equal system that interacts with red and blue. 2. You Can't “Red-Hat” Your Way into Connection When both partners stay in red, they're each sending signals but no one is picking up the phone. That red‑vs‑red pattern feels like: competing for whose pain “counts,” chronic explaining, convincing, and defending, more loneliness after talking than before. Without at least a little blue hat, the bond cannot form or repair—no matter how much content is shared. 3. The Blue Hat Is Vulnerable Work—for Clients and Clinicians Putting on the blue hat requires a yielding move (Jim Coan's language): setting your own swirl aside for a moment, letting the other's pain actually touch you, allowing yourself to be impacted and guided by their inner world. For many partners (especially withdrawers), caregiving is wired to feel like a set-up for failure: “Every invitation is just another chance to get it wrong.” They often pull their heart back to protect against repeated failure. As a therapist or coach, you are meant to wear the blue hat for everyone in the room: If your compassion goes offline for one partner, the cycle has pulled you into red. Your temporary blue hat often “bridges” when a partner can't yet offer that responsiveness. 4. Red, Blue, and Purple Are Interlocking Cogs, Not a Straight Line Traditional framing: fix the emotional system first, and the sexual system will naturally follow. This episode offers a more mutual, systemic view: Secure emotional connection supports satisfying sexual connection. Blocked or painful sexual dynamics also make emotional safety harder. Deep, responsive sexual moments can reinforce emotional security, and vice versa. Think of the systems as interlocked gears: when one jams (emotion, caregiving, or sex), the others feel the strain. 5. Simple Metaphor, Heavy Theory Behind It The hat model is a front-door metaphor for clients that quietly carries: attachment research (5,000+ studies), Shaver & Mikulincer's work on adult bonding systems, Sue Johnson's emphasis on responsiveness as the core of love. Instead of teaching full attachment theory to clients who “can't even sit on the same couch,” you: offer two or three hats they can remember in the heat of the moment, help them name when they're switching hats, and anchor micro-interventions: “Right now, everyone has the red hat on. Who can risk 1% of a blue hat?” 6. Seeing the Cycle = Regaining Choice Clients cannot change what they cannot see; “hats” give them a shared language to see it. Therapists can track: When red turns from “open red” (vulnerable sharing) into “shadow red” (mistrust, blame, vague signals). When a partner briefly has a blue hat on and then flips back into red. When sexual bids (purple) are met with blue (healing) vs met with red (rejection, mistrust). Even a 1% blue-hat response (e.g., “I can see how hard that is for you”) can be enough to create real hope. 7. Beyond the Couch: A Call for More Blue Hats in the Culture The same red‑vs‑red dynamic shows up at the societal level: “My red hat is bigger/more legitimate than your red hat.” Lots of pain, very few reliable blue hats. The episode frames EFT and attachment science as world-facing work: inviting more blue‑hat moments in communities, justice spaces, and public conversations, honoring community leaders who quietly build learning communities that increase quality of care everywhere. Extrémní teplo a sucho drtí Evropu. V Česku vysychají řeky i přehrady, voda dochází ve studnách. S měnícím se klimatem navíc bude sucho stále kritičtější, jihu Moravy i Polabí hrozí desertifikace. Můžeme tomu ještě zabránit? Hostem Ptám se já byl Vojtěch Kotecký z Centra pro otázky životního prostředí Univerzity Karlovy. Letošní rok v Česku zatím patří k těm nejsušším od roku 1961 a z hlediska spadlých srážek se vyvíjí ještě hůře než loňský. Jak tento týden upozornil Český hydrometeorologický ústav, zatímco první polovina loňského roku byla z hlediska srážek vůbec nejsušší od roku 1961, v červenci 2025 se velký deficit srážek alespoň trochu zmírnil. Letos se naopak meteorologické sucho dál prohlubuje. Od začátku roku chybí podle meteorologů na území České republiky v průměru přibližně 34 procent srážek oproti normálu. Zhoršující se situaci potvrzují i vodohospodáři. Například v Povodí Moravy už je sucho na polovině měřicích míst, některá jsou dokonce na nule. Mimořádné sucho zasáhlo také přes 50 procent území ve správě státního podniku Povodí Labe. Snižování průtoků se začíná obávat i Povodí Odry. Rekordně brzy v Česku letos končí i žně. Výnosy zemědělců kvůli suchu klesly někde až o 20 procent. „Je to zážitek, který se moc nepodobá čemukoliv, co jsme ve svých životech zatím viděli. Na druhou stranu, my jsme to vlastně věděli předem. To, že klima se bude posouvat tímto směrem a že to bude mít takové dopady, jsme měli od klimatologů spočítáno už před 20, 30 lety. Teď jenom docházíme do momentu, kdy se to stává praktickou každodenní realitou našich skutečných životů,“ komentoval situaci v Ptám se já Vojtěch Kotecký z Centra pro otázky životního prostředí UK. Česko podle něj bude v dalších letech patřit k zemím více zasažených suchem: „Ve srovnání se státy, které jsou na tom klimaticky zhruba podobně jako my, se zdá, že musíme očekávat možná spíše horší rozměr dopadů. Česká krajina patří k těm opravdu méně připraveným, protože se historicky změnila a například hospodaření s půdou tady několik desítek let probíhalo způsobem, který ta rizika ještě zvětšil.“ Podle evropských odborníků se vysychání a degradace půdy v Evropě v současnosti netýká jen Středomoří, ale začíná se projevovat právě i v Česku. Společné výzkumné centrum Evropské komise JRC aktuálně informovalo, že do roku 2040 se u nás rozšíří oblasti ohrožené desertifikací, zejména na jižní Moravě nebo v Polabí. Krkonošský národní park má už dva měsíce nového ředitele. Petra Moravce do čela vybrala komise, jeho volbu ale kritizovali ekologové, mnozí místní starostové i odborníci. Co ukázaly první týdny jeho úřadování? Hostem Ptám se já byl starosta Vrchlabí, předseda Svazku měst a obcí Krkonoše a senátor za hnutí STAN Jan Sobotka. Ministr životního prostředí Igor Červený (Motoristé) jmenoval Petra Moravce novým ředitelem Správy Krkonošského národního parku (KRNAP) 18. června. Pedagoga České lesnické akademie Trutnov a také bývalého vedoucího kanceláře předchozího šéfa parku Robina Böhnische (odvolaného z funkce letos v březnu) označil ministr životního prostředí za zkušeného manažera a odborníka, který při výběrovém řízení prokázal detailní znalost fungování národního parku. Změnu v čele Správy KRNAP ocenil také například starosta Harrachova Tomáš Vašíček (Změna pro Harrachov). Mnozí opoziční poslanci, další místní starostové nebo ekologické organizace ale jmenování Moravce zkritizovali. Hnutí Duha vyjádřilo obavy o směřování parku. Organizace krok označila za riskantní kvůli zaměření Moravce na těžbu dřeva a harvestory, lesní stroje, které se používají k plně mechanizované těžbě dřeva. Za problematickou ekologové označili také Moravcovu netransparentní minulost (jak upozornily i Seznam Zprávy, Moravec v minulosti například čelil kontrole z ministerstva kvůli nejasnostem v docházce a užívání služebního auta, kterému ředitel parku odebral). Podobné obavy vyjádřili v dopise ministrovi i zástupci Svazku obcí Východní Krkonoše. Starosta Vrchlabí, předseda Svazku měst a obcí Krkonoše a senátor Jan Sobotka pak označil výběr nového ředitele parku za trapné divadlo. „Pan ředitel je odborník na lesy. A je rozdíl, jestli je to ochrana přírody nebo lesy, to mám dlouhodobě vyzkoušené. V čele národního parku by měl být člověk, který rozumí ochraně přírody. Ale on je lesník. Takže si myslím, že se teprve seznamuje a mnoho neví, i kde se ocitl,“ řekl v Ptám se já Sobotka, podle kterého v parku zatím panuje nejistota. Using a vivid “watermelon vs. hot sauce” metaphor, they unpack what happens when one partner intends care, but the other receives danger. They explore why the brain distorts on purpose in the name of survival, how to keep honoring the client's emotional reality, and how to redirect blame away from partners and back to the negative cycle as the true enemy. You'll hear a powerful reframe that replaces the potentially invalidating, “What's the story you're telling yourself?” with a cleaner, safer question: “When you see Trigger X, what message does the cycle send to you about how your partner sees you?” James and Ryan apply this lens not just to couples, but also to race, marginalization, and societal conversations, illustrating how attempts to “correct the facts” can land as gaslighting when bodies are carrying generations of threat. They share moving examples of Stage 2 and Stage 3 work where partners begin catching and correcting the cycle on their own—creating “cycle killer” moments that change everything. If you're an EFT therapist, trauma-informed clinician, or a partner trying to understand your own reactions, this episode will help you honor emotion, respect meaning-making, and still gently face distortion—without shaming or silencing anyone. Top Takeaways “Distortion” in EFT ≠ Fake or Irrational Emotion Emotions are never irrational; they always make sense in context. What may be “distorted” is the meaning-making or thinking, not the feeling. Watermelon vs. Hot Sauce Metaphor One partner offers something meant to be sweet and refreshing (watermelon). The other experiences it as danger or attack (hot sauce). This gap often comes from old injuries, expectations of being hurt, and the cycle, not badness in either partner. Why “What's the Story You Tell Yourself?” Can Feel Like Gaslighting Although poetic, it can land as, “This is just in your head; you're making it up.” For pursuers especially, this repeats a long history of being told they're “too much” or “misreading reality.” A Safer, Cleaner Clinical Question Instead of: “What's the story you're telling yourself?” Use: “When you see Trigger X, what message does the cycle send to you about how your partner sees you?” This question: Honors the client's internal world and logic. Externalizes the problem to the cycle, not the partner. Protects both partners from blame and shame. The Cycle as the Real Distorter The negative cycle becomes the “third entity” that scrambles messages. Seeing the cycle as the enemy helps the therapist stay out of the triangle and helps partners fight the cycle, not each other. Expected Pain Is Real Pain (Jim Coan's Research) The brain responds to anticipated threat almost as if it already happened. So even if words are technically “distorted,” the body's reaction is real and valid. The limbic system amplifies signals to protect, not to be dramatic. Clinical Target: Lean Into Pain, Not Cognitive Correction If you pivot too fast to “self-reflection” or cognitive reframe, you may move away from the raw pain where the best enactments live. Staying with the pain supports deeper Stage 2 work and more powerful enactments. Personal vs. Clinical Use of Self-Reflection Personally, it's healthy to ask, “Is this really what they meant, or is this my story?” Clinically, putting that question on the client too soon can feel invalidating and gaslighting. Application to Race, Marginalization, and Power When someone names patterns of racism or marginalization, responding only with “facts” and statistics often lands as, “You're crazy; that's not real.” Bodies encode generational and societal cycles, so their threat response has good reasons. Saying, “I can see good reasons your brain codes it this way,” is deeply regulating and dignifying. Stage 2 & Stage 3: “Cycle Killer” Moments In de-escalated couples, partners begin to say things like: “This might be my stuff coming up, but here's what happens for me…” “You don't have to put that part of you away—let's make space for your fear and my optimism.” These are Stage 3 moments where partners catch and correct the cycle themselves—sometimes without therapist intervention. Therapist Posture: Genuine Blame on the Cycle Effective EFT therapists truly believe that “this is the cycle, not their character.” Repeated exposure to Stage 2/3 couples reshapes the therapist's internal frame, making it easier to hold the externalized cycle under pressure. Therapist Self-Care and Embodiment Therapy is hard on bodies, not just minds. Ryan and James emphasize physical health practices (walking, gym, etc.) as non-optional for therapists. Our bodies are the instrument we bring into the room. From the Couch to the Culture The same principles that de-escalate couples can transform societal conversations—about race, oppression, and power. Dokážete si pak zdůvodnit, že jen vykonáváte pořádek, který je nastolený,“ říká Ivan Ostrochovský. Někdy lékaři přesvědčovali ženy ke sterilizaci přímo na operačním stole během císařského řezu. „Byly případy, že žena leží rozpáraná na stole a lékař se ji snaží přesvědčit, ať se nechá sterilizovat,“ popisuje režisér. „A ještě jim například říkali, že zemřou, pokud to neudělají,“ připomíná Anna Šabatová argumentaci lékařů, která byla často založená na strachu. Ostrochovského během rešerší ale překvapilo něco jiného: „Šokovalo mě, že většina lékařů, se kterými jsme anonymně mluvili, si to dodnes dokázala racionálně zdůvodnit. Byli přesvědčení, že tím ženám zachraňovali životy,“ říká ve Studiu N. Podle bývalé ombudsmanky hrály vedle rasových předsudků zásadní roli také mocenské vztahy mezi lékaři a pacientkami. „Představa byla, že doktor ví lépe než člověk sám, co je pro jeho dobro. Neobtěžovali se tím, aby to vysvětlili a nabídli alternativy.“ Mnoho žen tehdy vůbec nevědělo, o jaký zákrok se jedná. „Některé se i domnívaly, že sterilizace je vratný zákrok,“ říká Šabatová. Na kancelář veřejného ochránce práv se dokonce obrátila žena, která vůbec netušila, že byla sterilizována. Dozvěděla se to až po letech při návštěvě gynekologa, když se snažila znovu otěhotnět. Právě první svědectví žen odstartovala jedno z nejzásadnějších šetření kanceláře ombudsmana. „Byla velká odvaha prvních deseti žen, které poskytly svůj příběh. Bývala zemí doutníků, tanečnic a veselí. To už ale o Kubě neplatí. Pod tíhou ropné blokády zemi dochází jídlo, léky i elektrická energie. „Žije se tam strašně. Na venkově lidé nemají proud týden, dva, někdy i déle,“ líčí reportér. „Hladomor to ještě není, ale každopádně aspoň všichni moji přátelé dost výrazně zhubli,“ vypráví zahraniční reportér Seznam Zpráv Eduard Freisler, který byl hostem nejnovějšího dílu podcastu Mediální cirkus. Freisler na Kubu jezdí už 25 let, naposledy tam byl letos na jaře. Na přelomu roku o zemi vydal knihu Kubánské tango v rytmu blues, za kterou dostal Cenu Hanzelky a Zikmunda za nejlepší cestopis roku. „V rámci příjmového potravinového systému mají od vlády takové knížečky, ‚libreta‘, a když se do ní člověk podívá, vidí, že každý Kubánec by měl mít nárok na tohle, na tohle, na tohle. Ale pak zjistíš, že většina kolonek je prázdná, že spousta lidí měsíce nedostala zubní pastu nebo šampon,“ popisuje s tím, že nejtíživější jsou výpadky elektrické energie. „V Havaně vypnou proud klidně na 72 hodin, 100 hodin. Přijíždějí z venkova, kde je opravdu hlad, není elektřina a práce s cílem najít si nějakého bělocha, který by jim pomohl ven. Jedna z nich mi teď na jaře řekla: ‚Ona to dělala už moje máma a moje babička. Už tehdy měly nějaký materiální nedostatek a chtěly se odsud dostat.‘ “ Kuba trpí především desítkami let vlády diktátorského režimu. Teď ji navíc srazila ropná blokáda, kterou na ostrov uvalil americký prezident Donald Trump. Cílem bylo oslabit tamní komunistický režim, omezit jeho vliv v regionu a potrestat Havanu za podporu Venezuely. Šokuje mě Trumpismus Freisler pracoval pro řadu českých redakcí, pravidelně ale pobyt v Česku prokládá dlouhými epizodami v zahraničí. Teď by ho lákaly Spojené státy americké. „Šokuje mě trumpismus. A to, co všechno se v té zemi za pár let událo a jak to i země údajně silných institucí, která nedovolí, aby to tam jeden člověk začal radikálně měnit, neustála. Mám pocit, že tam je spousta příběhů, které by se daly sledovat a dobře by to ilustrovaly,“ přemítá reportér. „Mě tam asi nejvíc ohromilo to, že desítky milionů Američanů ti řeknou, že by chtěli diktátora víc než demokracii. Když jsem jel v Arkansasu po venkově, tak Američani měli před domem stožár, kde mají americkou vlajku, ale na některých obydlích nad tou americkou vlajkou byla vlajka Trumpa, jako kdyby byl víc než Amerika,“ popisuje. A proč si jako práci vlastně vybral právě novinařinu? „Můj život je nekonečná honba za příběhem, tím nejlepším příběhem, který můžu najít. A myslím si, že ten kubánský se pro mě stal jedním z vrcholů,“ odpovídá Eduard Freisler a oklikou se tím vrací ke své oblíbené Kubě. Jak se píše z Venezuely pro americká média?
