Have you ever considered adding ghostwriting of business memoirs to your suite of services? In today's episode, we explore the riveting tale behind the meteoric rise of Swisse Wellness, as recounted in the new book, "How to Build a Billion-Dollar Business" by Radek Sali, the visionary entrepreneur and former Swisse CEO. I happened to be his co-author on this project so I thought it'd be interesting to have a chat with Radek about the ghost-writing process and to share some hints and tips on how you too can add ghostwriting to your suite of services. The book details how Radek and his team turned a company that had $15 million in revenue and 30 employees, into a colossal $2.1 billion empire with over 1000 employees. He openly shares the highs and lows of his incredible journey, from teetering on personal bankruptcy, to engaging the world's top celebrities as ambassadors. The book also covers how he steered Swisse from the brink of collapse and spearheaded the sale of Swisse to the Hong Kong based Biostime, which became one of Australia's largest ever private business transactions. Before interviewing Chris Hemsworth on the red carpet, making history as the first woman of Asian descent to be crowned Miss Universe Australia, or becoming a beauty ambassador for Swisse, Francesca Hung struggled with her identity. For a long time, her mental health was affected by not feeling like she truly belonged, like she was in "no man's land" as she didn't look "typically Australian" while also being disconnected from her Asian heritage. It's a feeling many first-gen Aussies will relate to but one that's not often spoken about or the affect it's had on mental health. It's why she's sharing her story so openly. In this episode, Francesca talks about how she made peace with her identity, the impact of exercise (and cold showers) on her wellbeing and why true beauty and wellness comes from within.CREDITS: This podcast was hosted and produced by WH editor-in-chief Lizza Gebilagin with additional sound editing by Jess Campbell. For more from Women's Health Australia, find us on Instagram, visit our website or find the print and digital editions of the magazine. In episode ninety two of the Glow Journal podcast, host Gemma Watts talks to the founder of Susanne Kaufmann, Susanne Kaufmann.Natassia, 28 years old and a qualified biochemist, spent the first years of her career immersed in the beauty industry, working across brands like Swisse and Elle Macpherson's WelleCo, counting the latter as a valued mentor. Following her time at Swisse, Natassia was one of only five offered a position at private equity fund The Foundry, a fund that exists to support the next wave of beauty brand founders. Moving to what was, in essence, a startup, was a risk, but Natassia took it upon herself to learn every facet of the business and, in her words, soak up everything she could. By 2021, Natassia had been working in the beauty industry for around 6 years and had began to wonder if there was anything she could contribute to the space that would make both it and the planet as a whole better. She mapped out the lifecycle of a beauty product and realised that there was a water footprint involved in, literally, every step of the supply chain. Knowing that water is a finite resource, and that most beauty products contain between 70 and 90 percent water, she asked herself “If you take water out, what are you left with?”As Natassia explains, what you're left with is “the good stuff.”Natassia launched Conserving Beauty, Australia's first waterless beauty brand, in 2021. Conserving Beauty is the first beauty brand globally to be part of the Water Footprint Network, and the first Australian beauty brand to be backed by both government and impact investment funds. April of this year saw yet another Conserving Beauty innovation reach the public in the form of the brand's InstaMelt™ technology- a patented fabric technology that has allowed the brand to develop the world's first dissolving facial wipes and sheet masks, with even more innovation set to hit shelves very soon.In this conversation, Natassia shares why she believes taking on every job from the ground up is essential for future brand founders, what it truly means to take on external investment, and precisely how her brand ensures water conservation is considered at every single step of the supply chain. You will be hard pressed to meet anyone more genuine and keen to help than Michael Da Gama Pinto, the CEO and Founder of The Foundry Group. When we talked about recording a podcast together, rather than wanting to focus on the two exceptional Australian brands he helped achieve international success in Aēsop and Swisse or the operational expertise he brings to his portfolio companies, helping management teams with the right capital structure and resourcing to take advantage of favourable industry conditions, he wanted to share a couple of very personal stories which he thinks really demonstrate essential learnings from his journey. He wanted to share not because they would cast him in the most favourable light, quite the opposite. But because Michael is always thinking of the most effective way to help founders truly absorb the learnings which will underpin their success. Michael is focused on the Health, Wellness and Beauty space, believing a passionate believer in the multiplier effect of taking care of body and mind, and leaving a positive mark on the world. The majority of profits made from the investments by Michael and his family are donated to charities supporting health, employment and education initiatives. But what Michael feels is his most important and proudest achievement, is being the father of three beautiful children. Contact Michael via LinkedIn Book – The Art of Stillness

Episode 31 of The Blank Canvas Podcast with Radek Sali. It takes sheer guts and determination to succeed on a grand scale and there is usually some point where the person puts everything they have on the line. This week’s guest is no exception and fortunately for him, the gamble paid off. Radek Sali - started out working the candy bar in his local suburban Village cinema and worked his way up to Operations Manager of Village Roadshow. Radek joined the Swisse Wellness group as Operations Manager in 2005, a couple years later he’d become CEO, he steered the company from it’s annual turnover of $14 million to it’s sale 10 years on - for 1.7 Billion dollars. Incredibly, just nine months before that deal went ahead, the shareholders of Swisse nearly accepted an offer of just $30 million, which would have left Radek bankrupt due to $15 million in personal debt. I directed many TV commercials for Swisse leading up to the sale of the company - in particular their campaign for the Rio Olympics. The staff culture was something to behold at Swisse and played a huge role in the success of brand, and this was clearly driven by their inspirational leader. Radek’s latest role is Chairman of Light Warrior - an investment organisation with a mission to help fund and support an array of other businesses and entrepreneurs, particularly those with a positive societal impact.https://lightwarrior.com/ W: https://theblankcanvaspodcast.com.au/ W: https://leerogers.com.au/ SOCIALS Insta: @theblankcanvaspodcast FB - The Blank Canvas Podcast Twitter: @blankcanvaspod THE BLANK CANVAS TEAM Produced by Lee Rogers & Rien MacDonald. It's been a little while since our last INTRApreneurial guest, but I'm delighted to have one of the best with us today - Jasmine Smith, Director of People and Culture from Swisse Wellness. You know I love a good non-linear way to yay, so I found Jasmine's story captivating from her nomadic and adventurous childhood to make up artistry, then a late entry to tertiary studies in behavioural science after her first child, a successful career in retail and sales and only after seven years at each of Mecca and T2, an eventual pivot into HR where she is working wellness wonders for the workforce at Swisse. She represents everything I love to share about life unravelling in chapters, the importance of self awareness and the shapeshifting nature of what your yay looks like over time. I think HR or, as it is known at Swisse, People and Culture, is another one of those areas of work that can absolutely make or break a business but that many of us barely understand and take for granted. You'll hear that Jasmine herself didn't know it was even a job she could do until years later, and those are the areas I LOVE to delve into - I learnt so much from this chat! I was reminded all about the many tools Swisse and other businesses use to help identify employees' strengths, weaknesses and passions - I tend to forget you don't have to learn everything on the fly, so if you're wondering how to figure out what your yay is, Jasmine shares a HEAP of useful hacks along with so much other wisdom about igniting human potential! Hope you enjoy as much as I did! + Follow Swisse Wellness here + Announcements on Insta at @spoonful_of_sarah + Join our Facebook community here + Subscribe to not miss out on the next instalment of YAY!

Radek Sali always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and he personifies this crazy journey. In the mould of Sir Richard Branson, he has put himself "out there", been the spokesman and front-man of his company, gone high-profile, surrounded himself with brilliant and famous people, and taken all the spoils and falls that come with the name "entrepreneur". Radek Sali has tasted the sweet success of building a global brand and selling it at a great price as fierce tail-winds blew. He was original in his thinking about marketing, original in his thinking about brand, original in his thinking about ambassadors and had the guts and dare to try new things. It worked. But, past success is not always an indicator of smooth sailing ahead. As an investor, he made some of the moves he never took as a business owner. His backing of high profile celebrity chef George Calombaris has not ended well, and whilst the ink is still drying on this company decline, Radek is honest enough to share his thought on the matter. Enjoy our discussion.

After winning the pitch for Jenny Craig, she was offered the position of Managing Director of the ailing Jenny Craig business in 2008. She left advertising and embarked on a 3 year turnaround plan that revitalised the brand (from Magda to Mel B) and resulted in the sale of the ANZ Jenny Craig franchise to Nestle in 2011 for over $50 million. She continued on as CEO Australia and NZ working for Nestle for two more years, and was promoted to Global CMO of Jenny Craig creating campaigns for US and UK, France and ANZ. She left in February 2013 and established Rise Productions, a marketing and brand strategy consultancy designed to grow and revitalize brands. Her first clients included Dineamic, Big Bash (Cricket Australia), Target and Swisse. She then met Simon Crowe and took on a full time role as Head of Marketing and Brand at Grill'd in February 2015, during such visits her mandate was to revitalize the brand, overhaul the restaurant design and redefine healthy burgers to drive product innovation that drive sales and the reputation of healthy burgers. She continues to consult to Grilld on brand and now works in marketing, innovation and brand revitalization with clients such as Boundary Bend, Maitland Meat, DAA, and the business she is a part owner of Dineamic that makes healthy meals for busy people.
While driving the future of transport, an electric car, Radek and Jeremy explore the future of business and community. Radek expands on why he believes business leaders have the greatest responsibility to the quality of our society. He shares the proven financial and spiritual advantages of creating a workplace that people love coming to, and gives a refreshing perspective on the fun and growth that occurs when business teams operate with a sports team mentality. Radek Sali is a radiant, intuitive, wise man who sincerely cares about bringing the best out in people, for their benefit and that of their work. And was also responsible for leading the Swisse team in boosting revenue from $13 million to $650 million.
Radek Sali knows a thing or two about celebrity endorsement - as the 40 year old, retired CEO Radek Sali of Swisse Multivitamins - a wellness business that sells supplements, skincare and superfoods, he's used celebrity endorsement as a way to build one of Australia's biggest brands. I sat next to Radek recently at a Hawthorn Football Club function, and I was pretty damn excited, as the Swisse brand is one that I've admired from a distance for many years. From it's high quality packaging, to it's brand consistency, to it's relentless celebrity endorsement efforts (think Nicole Kidman, Ellen Degeneres, Ricky Ponting to name a few) and high frequency TV and print advertising schedule, Swisse would have to be one of the most well-known and respected brands in Australia. Radek started there in 2005 as the Operations Manager, he left there last year as a part owner having sold the business for $1.7 billion! He attributes celebrity endorsement strategy and an honest and meaningful business culture to the brand's success Awards won by Radek and his team include BRW's Most Successful Business of the Year (2012); GQ Businessman of the Year; and in 2016 Ernst & Young's Young Entrepreneur of the Year (for Pharmaceuticals). Plus in episode 371 of Australia's best marketing podcast: Resident techspert Dale Beaumont from 52 Ways brings back the GIPH … not the GIMP, the GIPH! I share another low cost marketing idea that'll increase your average dollar amount per sale And we go back into The Small Business Big Marketing Show's vault, revisiting a past interview with the creator of the world's most viral marketing video Here's what caught my attention from chatting with Radek Sali of Swisse Multivitamins: I love the idea that as brand builders we're part of a Ferrari Formula One crew, and that whatever we're working on we should be at full throttle, ready for it to all disintegrate once we get to the finish line. “The sky is just the beginning.” - talk about glass half full! Radek is one of the more optimistic people I've ever met. I love how he's always looking for a way to make something work. I loved how he visited his retailers when he first stepped into the business all those years ago. If he hadn't done that, he wouldn't have uncovered the celebrity endorsement strategy that Centrim were using so well. I loved his modesty. I mean the guy is responsible or building one of Australia's most successful brands, he's made $255M in doing so … but his ego was very in check. I loved the the 3 pillars of premium, proven and aspirational, through which all business decisions were evaluated.
