This week, we're on location at the Dragonflight GameCon in Bellevue, WA! We hear about carefully engineered dice, the unsustainability of grimdark campaigns, and orange cats that are not burdened by an abundance of thought. Thanks to everyone who took the time to chat with us:Norwescon is a Science Fiction and Fantasy convention in the Seattle suburbs in April.Zephren Varner makes extremely cool minis and dice.Alchemical Press publishes Mice of Legend (and has a live Kickstarter for their new modules!).Nailon Realm makes some very fun minis. Stout Game Tables builds some very practical gaming tables.Found Family Adventurecrafts makes fun whimsical minis.PurrnelKitty Studio publishes The Golden Tuna and sells fun orange cat merch.Gameswell makes really elegant card games.Yeld is a fantasy TTRPG about children in a magical world (which we'll be hearing more about later this season).Sketchsauce sells 3D printed toys and minis from a range of artists.Majestic Adventures runs some very fun LARP camps and parties.Alexandria RPG Library does an incredible job preserving and sharing TTRPG sourcebooks. We chatted with David about the old d6 Star Wars TTRPG and also Deadlands. At the beginning of the episide, we mention the profusion of wizard hats at OrcaCon in January. Here's the first part and here's the second part of our time at OrcaCon. Go check out our website for some pictures from Dragonflight! Jake's also going to throw in a bonus picture of the public transit they took to get to the con venue. If you like the music on the show, go check out more of Reilly's music. In this episode, Dr. Dave Chatterjee speaks with Josh Cook, a seasoned cybersecurity and privacy attorney who has guided multinational corporations and mid-sized businesses through high-stakes cyber crises. Drawing on his experience as the first Global Cyber Counsel for a Fortune Global 500 company, Cook shares how he built a global cyber legal function from scratch and why legal teams must be engaged long before an incident occurs.Together, they explore the human, organizational, and legal dynamics of crisis leadership: from building attorney-client privilege into preparation, to developing muscle memory through tabletop exercises, to ensuring the C-suite speaks with one unified voice when every second counts. Anchored in Dr. Chatterjee's Commitment–Preparedness–Discipline (CPD) framework, the discussion underscores how legal, leadership, and security functions must converge to preserve trust and resilience in the face of relentless cyber threats. To access and download the entire podcast summary with discussion highlights -https://www.dchatte.com/episode-91-leading-under-fire-legal-and-leadership-lessons-from-cyber-crises/Time Stamps· 0:49 — Introduction to Josh Cook and his career journey· 2:43 — Building the global cyber legal function· 6:18 — Why legal must be engaged early in cyber strategy· 9:10 — Prepared vs. unprepared organizations and the “B-OODA loop”· 10:58 — Dr. Chatterjee introduces the CPD framework in crisis leadership· 14:30 — Leadership commitment and the ROI of prevention· 17:11 — Tabletop exercises and developing organizational muscle memory· 19:45 — Crisis leadership styles and their impact on teams· 21:55 — Cybersecurity as strategic enabler and trust foundation· 27:03 — Preparing for the next attack, not the last one· 29:45 — Common crisis weakness: fractured C-suite response· 33:58 — Unified communication and trust building· 38:02 — Clear, simple, consistent crisis communications· 41:17 — The importance of genuine care for stakeholders· 43:08 — Josh Cook's closing reflections: cyber crises are business problems rooted in peopleConnect with Host Dr. Dave Chatterjee LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dchatte/ Website: https://dchatte.com/Cybersecurity Readiness Book:

This week I have a roundtable discussion with players from my D&D campaign, Blood of the Avatars, that recently ended. Brett, Craig, and Sam join me to discuss our experiences with the end of the campaign, both as players and GM. We talk about our experience with having a character who goes evil within a good aligned party. There's a lot that can go wrong there, but Manny played Lerissa's descent very well, and all the players handled the situation perfectly. This is as much on the players as the GM, but if you want to know how it can work and come out awesome, our campaign is a great example of it done well. Finally, we talk about the end of the campaign and the final battle. The players give their perceptions on how it all turned out. We talk about what is needed to make the ending of such a long campaign truly satisfying. There are definitely things I could've done better, and we discuss that, so as I always say at the top of the show, you can learn from my mistakes, or at least things I could've done differently and/or better.Check out my sci-fi novel, Critical Balance.Have you read Critical Balance?
